This is an interesting question. I think at least some of the attraction might come from the subversive nature of clowns/jesters: they're allowed to break social norms and behave ambiguously, which is incidentally why many people find them terrifying but it can also give them an otherworldly 'cool' factor. On the other hand, clown makeup smooths out the wearer's complexion, which is usually flattering, and increases the contrast between the eyes/mouth and the rest of the face. I cba to link the study, but in general we find high-contrast faces more attractive. Clown makeup usually emphasizes and enlarges the eyes and mouth as well, which heightens the contrast. Hence it isn't at all surprising that many people find clowns attractive. This concludes my autism, OP pls no bully

I posted the catpic and there about half the pics in the thread. To be honest I don't care about clowns. I'm indifferent to it really if I think about it. I just wanted to help this thread out since I'm always glad to see good threads that aren't music thread #68 or threads that have minimal differences with a pre-existing thread. There are some unique finds for clown related paraphernalia and I often find something I'm interested to try or glad to have found. Picrel is a clown visual novel that seems to to be filled to brim of jokes along with a decent dish of plot.

Yes that's Rami Malek as Louis Dega in Papillon (2017 remake). Sadly he's only dressed like this for one scene, which was just the main character hallucinating.

I think some people might be attracted to clowns for their unique appearance and/or the novelty of their costume or makeup. like The makeup worn by clowns often emphasizes certain features, such as the eyes, lips and cheeks, also clowns often wear bold colors and patterns, which can be visually striking and eye-catching.
