I'm curious about everyone's inspirations for animation. Mine feel a bit like a weird mix but mine is Satoshi Kon and Don Bluth. I really like how Bluth balances darker grittier backdrops with whimsical characters (which is especially refreshing when I look at how candy colored a lot of animated movies that came out this year) and I'm reading his books on storyboarding and animation, likewise I like how Kon balances a really dark societal backdrop with reality bending and the different paths it takes from more lighthearted to more horrifying all wrapped up in these fluid sequences.
