No. 8833

I used to be addicted to online MMOs but nowadays they are all so boring to me.
Though I still wish they made a proper sequel to Mabinogi, I'd give it a try.

No. 8834

Sorry to be a retard but what is the game in the picture?
I think it's because everything has been overdone. There's no really new concepts coming to MMORPGs, they're all just "go here, kill this" and are grindfests.

No. 8835

I stopped playing all mmo when mabinogi turned into a who has the biggest and rarest wings contest. Wings were the death of that game.

>do you still play them now and hoe often?
Haven't played in over a year

>what were your favorites and why?

Fiesta Online, because it was the first one I was introduced to so it just kinda stuck with me idk

>which ones had the best charcter designs and customaziton options

Tera Online was pretty neat for character costumization, also the look of FLYFF was cute

>did you mostly spend your time questing alone or did you try to start and or join a party?

Spent most time in PVP areas and with kingdom quest (timed instances with ~20ish people). Sometimes also just hanging out in the cities.
But Fiesta Online has been dead for a while so all of those are pretty empty now. Nowadays I just do questing whenever me and the one friend I know irl who likes this game as much as me have time (which isn't often sadly)

It's kinda sad being nostalgic for mmorpgs. With other games you can just come back to them and they're still the way they always were, but with online games the experience really is lacking once they lose their player base.

Played WoW religiously for a bit. WotLK so I haven't played in a long time.
Horde blef arcane mage(it's mostfitting). I farmed alot of rare armour too.
Also a horde troll hunter for PvP.
I also played an alliance druid for the best leveling experience. You can tank, dps, and heal for any dungeon or raid. It's really dope.

No. 8839

I still play mabi myself from time to time it has its issues but the sprites and costumes are cute and the talent system seems neat enough. However i see how the wing thing can be an annoyance maybe its because nobody plays as much but i never see wings around really. The ninja talent is shit tho.

No. 8840

I haven't played in a longggg time I get so bored of mmo fighting mechanics. The last game I played religiously is pso on the dreamcast. I've tried pso2 but my pc can't handle it right now.
I'm looking for mmos to try that don't have pvp and focus on dungeon crawling. Haven't found one yet that I like.

I've been playing WoW since launch so 14 years. It was my first MMO and I have a lot of fond memories of it from vanilla through WotLK. After Cata everything seems such a blur, the game changed so much after that one and not in good ways. MoP was decent, WoD I hardly played, and Legion was ok, did quite a lot of raiding there. BFA is a bit disappointing. I will probably keep playing it regardless because I've invested so much time in it and even though there are prettier MMOs, their gameplay is subpar in comparison IMO.

I usually try new MMOs as they hit the market but none of them hold my interest.

My main MMORPG I play is Phantasy Star Online 2 with the English patch, if I'm at my PC. Otherwise I just wing it on my PS4. I used to play PSO2 on my Vita but the app is so big now it doesn't fit anymore, like 24GB, which is insane since its 70GB on PC and it also sucks because Vita memory cards are so expensive.
The only other MMO is PSO Blue Burst in the Ultima server. It's a little dead, but they have some nice specials.
Did anybody else play the phone app that was similar to PSO, Galaxy Frontier? They shut down the server years ago, I think in 2013. I expected that app to last a while.

No. 8844

Sigh, me too anon.
Free me from this heck game!

No. 8845

I used to be super hooked on Ragnarok Online and I probably still would be if I had a guild to play with. No other MMORPG has been able to suck me in so hard as it did.

No. 8848

Recently started ms2 and it's great. I love the no grindfest, it allows you to level and fight monsters without too much difficulty.

No. 8849

I just don't want to log in anymore, haven't in a week maybe. BfA is bland as fuck, I regret buying it.

No. 8850

remember AION online? They spent a quarter of their budget on shitty CGI cutscenes. They also made the free trial period 2.5x regular XP.

Yes I am still mad.

No. 8851

Dude I fucking loved AION. I didn't get as far as the huge raids, I remember losing interest around level 55 way back in like 2014. The chat was a cesspit and it was ridiculous having to pay to trade. It was my first MMO so I have nostalgic feelings about it but even after 6.2 it doesn't seem worth coming back.

No. 8852

What's a good MMO with a detailed character creator? I love when you get tons of customization options.

File: 1539523311008.jpg (469.13 KB, 1280x1024, perfect-world-international-2.…)

Perfect World International was my first MMO. Played a venomancer (basically a human with fox/cat ears and tail) and had a bear cub pet since the beta days, idk how many years I spent there, maybe 4-5? It was really good for an asian grind fest mmo until they introduced packs and started selling gear in the shop. I also met my now bf in the game.

Right now I'm playing Guild Wars 2 and love how casual friendly and non grindy it is. Since I work I don't have too much time for mmos anymore and missing like a month or even a year doesn't put me behind so I love it. Been playing for 3 years and still got a lot of stuff to do.

No. 8862

I've been thinking about getting back into WoW recently. Maybe if there were enough of us who played we could start an all girl guild or something? It would be fun. The best part of MMO's are the people you play with after all.

No. 8863

I'd consider joining. I've been really missing WoW too, but when I tried going back to it all my old friends were gone so it just sucked trying to start over.

No. 8864

That was basically my experience too. All my old friends are gone, which is also why the guild might be a fun idea. If we get a few more people interested maybe we can take this somewhere. Would you prefer Alli or Horde?

No. 8869

Ooo I do love this game! I'm going to out myself as an oldfag but in this regard ffxiv isn't too bad in comparison to ffxi. In its peak years, you couldn't even get past level 10 without a full party of 6. Somehow someway I managed to cap 3 jobs at 75 but I also dropped out of college to play almost my entire waking life lol ~memories~

I feel like there's a fuckton of solo content in ffxiv.

No. 8870

same I love old school! hope it gets a boost in the playerbase once mobile is out

No. 8871

bfa is boring as hell and the game's become too casualized for me to enjoy it anymore (which says a lot because wow was "the casual mmo" when it first came out). i'm just going to cancel my sub whenever classic comes out.

Flyff will forever be the best MMORPG I've ever played. I miss this game so much. It went to shit and now it's like a mobile game or some shit. There are a few private servers scattered around the internet maybe but the official game isn't worth anything anymore. They changed the name to like Flyff Gold or something but I doubt anyone really stills plays it.

No. 8878

are 'sexy' big titted 'moe' avatars cute? more like lowkey pedo shit with nice shading/coloring to disguise how sexualized it is imho

No. 10568

I played Mabinogi avidly when it first came out, like depressingly so. At one point I was one of the highest leveled players in my server and ran the largest guild. That's all I have to show for my teen years, ha.
Before that game started its endless downward spiral, it was a real gem. It's a bummer Mabinogi 2 never got made, because the combat and talent system combined with more modern graphics would make a top tier game. It was really unique and engaging.

No. 11805

Hey farmers, I would like to get free MMORPG suggestion. Tbh the most important part for me is prob char creator and attractive outfits… Which is quite sad, but nowadays i feel like i play mmorpgs for aesthetic/etc. I really enjoyed FF XIV, but my sub runs out so would also be good if someone suggested smth like it. Ive played TERA for years, i dont know if its worth it now.

No. 11807

Guild Wars 2

No. 13242

File: 1551979767147.jpg (50.02 KB, 690x437, Tales-runner-screenshot.jpg)

I'm not sure if any farmers here played TalesRunner..?

Their original NA servers closed nearly a decade ago, and there's no more English servers available for it currently which is a shame.

The primary gameplay style being racing was extremely unique to me, and I found it more enjoyable than grinding for hours.
Spent wayy more than necessary just to look pretty, and I used to play it nearly everyday back in 2009!

Other than TalesRunner, I loved MapleStory so much.
MS2 looks really promising and I can't wait to find the time to go try it.

No. 13248

Maybe Perfect World, but it's extremely P2W. I generally don't play asian-style/themed games

No. 13296

I played for a bit back in the day. The racing was fun at first and that alice in wonderland map was very unique but after a while it got repetitive and there wasn't a lot of accessories or characters to choose from when I played so the cash shop was lame.

Burning Soulworker is pretty good, anon. It's more action based but it's the most fun I've had in a while (classes are gender locked though), it's got an active community too. Other suggestions would be Phantasy Star 2, Code Closers, Kurtzpel (it isn't a traditional MMO but it has a very cute style and the character creator is robust). I would say Kritika but it's closing April 30th or so I've heard.

Speaking of, does anyone remember games like wind slayer, soul saver, latale, rusty hearts, s4 league or wonderking? No matter where on the ass end of the internet i post these, nobody seems to remember it. Especially wind slayer, it got a short lived sequel after the original shut down. I miss old kmmos that had a cutesy sidescroller style, i played every single one on the market at some point. I miss the golden age of kmmos, they just don't make them anymore. I even played Tera obsessively for a while until i realized the gameplay was dogshit and happened to pick the worst class in the game at the time (sorcerer) so i got fucked.
Nowadays i'm trying to relive the good old days by playing GMS and s4 league/latale pservers, but for the more old niche games there's not even a private server.

Does any anon currently here has some experience with Black Desert Online? I want to casually play it, but IDK where to start. I'm not interested in stuff like PVP. The main draw of a MMORPG is a chance to 'live' and have adventures in a fantasy world (side note - I wish there was an MMORPG that had character interactions/relationship system like in Stardew Valley or a visual novel. I know it would be extremely hard to implement, but it really takes me out when an entire world is filled with meaningless NPCs. I want more!). Anyway any review, tips or opinions are welcome! I've been considering playing FFXIV, but idk if it's worth the money.

No. 135043

for ff14, just play the free trial first and see if it's worth the 20$, if it's not, then just stop at the lvl cap. As for BDO, this is just a minor gripe, but I hate how classes are gender locked and how shit the character customization is.

No. 135055

>how shit the character customization is
Could you tell me more about why do you think so? The character creation is impressive, even a bit too much

No. 135066

Tbh anon, instead of wasting your money you can just throw your chara customization to max in f2p game TERA online.

No. 135070

but there is no specific pet companion in TERA that is available in Black Desert Online (and I think it's the only mmo that has it). That really makes me want to play the game! I also always preferred aesthetics like in Aion. TERA characters didn't seem as pretty…

No. 135084

Used to be addicted to Ragnarok Online. Tried to get into Maple Story but there was too many cringy flips.

Tried Digimon Masters Online before.

No. 135088

I've played BDO on and off for a few years and I enjoy it. It's a gorgeous world to travel around and I didn't find the necessary grinding to be bad, mostly due to how easy it is to level armor (unless your going to the perfect armor, that's a whole nother can of worms). The downside, like someone else mentioned, is that the classes are gender-locked. I played it intensely years ago and came back as a casual a few years later, and the game is friendly for both. Up to you if you want to spend the dollars, hope you enjoy it if you do.

No. 135131

>resub to WoW after a decade (mostly played during Wrath)
>no friends
>no guild
>no money and everyone else is rich af
>don't understand half the new features/mechanics
>have to relearn all my rotations, redo talents etc
>level all alone for a few weeks
>quit again due to boredom

I've been doing this semi regularly for years lmao. I always randomly miss WoW and get urges to play, but I don't think I could ever recapture the fun I had because it was mostly about playing with irl friends. I don't think I'd join a lolcow guild because then I'd be embarrassed of how shitty I am at the game kek.

No. 135185

pugs this xpac are absolutely fucked, depending on your level of what you do (raiding/pvp) you absolutely need a guild. even pugging m+ is absolute cancer but the dungeons are fun. I used to mainly raid but now just do m+with guildies because loot is so stingy for no reason.

No. 139246

same, i’m probably skipping TBC. I had some fun in Classic though. shadowlands is complete trash

No. 139255

I mostly just mount farm now but Blizzard made sure to make that hell on earth too. I recently did one that had me running around to find multiple orbs deeply hidden in virtually impossible places. Straight up needing a guide to find them. Just to find out after I beat the end of chase boss that the fucking mount if you don't get it that first time and get the pet instead is on a 2 week cooldown with no promise it'll prong then either. Like JFC Blizzard there was no reason for that other than to force me to resub.

No. 139281

that ones annoying but jellyfish mounts hell yes. I'm forever envious of friends who got mythic n'zoth for that jelly. Besides m+ (got ksm and some 18+'s) I'm currently farming mop era mounts like Sha of anger/msv and had a friend get the msv mount on my birthday, should kms lol

No. 171644

Yeah I've played a lot of Wizard101, level 160 fire wizard but I haven't played a lot of it and it took me like 7-8 years to complete all of the main quests (I also completed most of the side quests) on one wizard. Then they added more and I really don't feel like continuing. But it's a fairly fun game, I really like decorating houses.
