How in the world is the kind of texts that she sent that guy protected by freedom of speech? I know that Americans often misunderstand UK laws about hate speech and think that they're too aggressive of free speech, but for us if you foment people to hurt someone else or if you push someone with a known history of mental illness (or if you bully someone to the point of causing mental illness and then persuade them they'd be better off dead) to kill themselves, you can't just say it's free speech. Her lawyer is trying the free speech defence: what the hell? Those messages were her continuously treating his postponing his death as if it were a matter of someone procrastinating their homework.

Might as well post my two cents, since the thread got necro'd anyway. Yes, Michelle had a lot of issues, but the situation was way more fucked up and complicated than "selfish bitch makes her boyfriend kill himself". Conrad was suicidal long before his death and had made multiple attempts, each of which he'd announce to her via text, but he'd always back out of it in the end (btw they met in person only a couple of times and talked mostly through texts, you could barely call that a relationship). He strung her along and used her for emotional labor just as much as she used him, arguably even more. It was basically a case of a terminally depressed dude with no support network meeting a lonely, unhinged outcast girl and creating an incredibly toxic combination together. Michelle deserves to be punished for her actions and I agree her sentence was too short, but after looking into her case I will say she strikes me as someone deeply troubled and mentally unstable, rather than malicious.
Red handed podcast did an episode on Michelle and I recommend giving it a listen. It's a pretty good breakdown of the whole thing.

i wonder what she's up to now that she's out of jail. she looks a lot better now.
i think her sentance prevents her from speaking about the case in media but only until august 2022. i really hope she will "tell her story" when the time comes.
