No. 701408

Nephi Garcia is a well known dress maker in the Disney cosplay and party princess community. His work became known from making and videoing ‘transformation dresses’ made for his children to wear to Disney World on family trips. He also makes costumes for adults, and while hit-or-miss, are usually extremely tacky and overpriced for their quality. Despite this, he has made dresses for popular Disney cosplayers such as Traci Hines (who has her own thread as well) and Amber Arden.

His dressmaking "skills" include but are not limited to:
>trying to imitate firefly path’s attention to extra detail
>or, alternatively, hardly having any detail at all
>hemming dresses terribly, if even
>using tacky aliexpress tier looking fabric, lace, and trims

Aside from the usual Disney snowflake behavior he emits, he has recently come under fire for his last commission job; making a dress for Mariah Mallad/Momokun, a known and infamous sexual predator in the cosplay community. When he was confronted by multiple people about this, he quickly began purging comments and blocking people. He later came out with a statement (as well as message people who had commented on it) saying he “doesn’t keep up with cosplay drama” and urged people to “think of his family”.

That dress is an absolutely trainwreck. It's like , did he do zero research for this character? There are plenty of Beato references online.

Here's some of his work. Here's a "Sailor Moon transformation dress" that costs $1,800.

And finally, one of his worst imo, his take on Snow White. There's many more, but these ones are the worst I could find at the moment.

No. 701427

These are beyond hideous, how on earth is he able to charge so much for these?

No. 701429

>>701427
I know, right? All the fabric choices are so cheap. Disney fanatics are insane to pay anything over $100 for this cheap trash

No. 701430

Bethanie on the other hand, when not modeling her hubby's creations or whoring their kids out for likes, posts cringy and mediocre singing covers on her YouTube.

No. 701445

This guys drives me nuts.
His transformation dresses for little girls are cute, I'll give him that. But his adult stuff is awful. He's trying to be Firefly Path, but it ends up looking cheap. Nothing fits well and I don't know what his aversion to hemming is, but why would someone spend thousands on a dress and then want to let it drag around on the floor and get dirty and ripped?
The worst was when he did a spot for Disney Style and talked up this sob story about how they were homeless and living in a motel and his wife went "We have nothing left to lose!" and then he went viral with the transformation dress for his daughter. If you're homeless, where are you getting a sewing machine and materials? The pictures of their house sure as hell don't look like they raised themselves up from homelessness on him making dresses (it looks like a million dollar mcmansion in Orange County) and they go on trips all the time. If you're going to feed people a sob story, at least make it believable.

Add on to info, he lives in my neighborhood. Houses range from 700k to 1.4 million depending on the plot. His family also goes to my family friend’s dance studio too. Such a small world.

Nephi seems like a Mormon name. Is he one? I heard Mormons tend to be obsessed with Disney.

According to google his name is of mormon orgin, not sure if he is one though. wouldn't be surprised if he was tbh.

1800?!?!?1 You're fucking me. I bought a 3.1 Phillip Lim dress for around $400 dollars made of silk shell (clearance) and chiffon. This looks like the tackiest material I've seen since Taobao.

>>701422
This is…the turquoise looks like vomit.

>>701424
What?

Why is this dressed composed of couch fabric?!?!

How do these people get famous?! I don't get it. Are they blind?

To be fair that's mass produced vs handmade

He started with little girl dresses, using shit choice of fabrics and have poor structure on a small dress like for children is not as noticeable as adult dresses, to Disney-obsessed normies they'd even look pretty.

they all must be colourblind.

>warm toned, desaturated gold, almost copper

chooses a cold gold with green?! hues

>"black" with red tones bordering on maroon, no signs of sheen anywhere

picks fucking blue black satin finish fabric

i haven't watched or read that anime/manga but damn.

those two (mariah and her cos-tastrophes and him) certainly found each other

I'm really amazed that the skirt is so totally wrong, there's an entire piece just completely missing and there's far too much of the gathered red part showing. It looks unfinished compared to the images.

No. 701604

Kind of a stupid thread IMO.
Commissioning a costume for a cow and having ugly dress designs doesn't make someone a cow.

But from his reactions there's cow potential, plus his dresses are shit so there's something worth talking about other than his cow association.

No. 702031

No. 702059

>>701619
There's nothing cowish about his responses. He clearly wants nothing to do with the whole situation, and I can't even blame him for that considering the amount of vitriol anyone who so much as breathes near Mariah gets nowadays.
>his dresses are shit so there's something worth talking about other than his cow association.
Not on this board. This kind of discussion belongs on /ot/ or squeezed into somewhere on /g/. Definitely not /snow/.

No. 702069

are we supposed to care about someone sewing party city dresses for wannabe cosplayers?

No. 702070

>>701604
True, but that means this thread will die. For now, it's good to keep this contained from Mariah's threads. Just so it doesn't derail. And it doesn't belong in the calves thread so…I unno, sage it and it'll die off. If the guy just sells crap then the thread can't sustain itself anyways.

No. 702106

If this guy is a cow, so is everyone who was in an Onision video or has associated with a cow. The best the guy can do is learn from this and research clients first, and have the option to refuse business with them. This thread will die in hours/days.

No. 702133

He's a cow. He's a known clout chaser who is hungry for internet fame and has accused other disney cosplayers of "copying" his shit-tier designs. I will try to find receipts.

No. 702175

>>701473
Yes, they're mormon. They go to Utah all the time and used to post a lot of preachy shit on Instagram. Maybe he calmed it down.
>>702031
I once looked out of curiosity and it said that adult gowns START at $1800. Including ones made of fabric purchased at the 99cent fabric stores downtown. I shit you not. The fabrics he's using are not expensive, the most any of them cost is maybe $50 a yard and those are few and far between.

No. 702750

They just started a Patreon. Only 3 people at 3 dollars/video lmao

No. 721772

He's judging the costume contest at Comic Con Los Angeles tomorrow so so much for his "I don't do cosplay or cons" lie

No. 722470

So the only milk is that he made a dress for someone you don’t agree with?(USER HAS BEEN PUT OUT TO PASTURE)
