I think it's sad that so many women think they can't have long hair after a certain age, seriously why???
A lot of people shit on kpop idols for being plastic but there are so many (older) asian actresses who look absolutely bomb.
Just compare that with 24yo Noah Centineo, 25yo Post Malone, 26yo Justin Bieber, and so on.

Pic related is 30.

>>149899
Exactly. Good luck finding any without.

I think people greatly underestimate just how much male celebs get done. It just doesn't work for them, because unlike these women they're too lazy and dumb for proper diet and skin care. I definitely find those beautiful actresses also inspiring.
Please point me to the celebrity men who have such smooth skin at 40 lol

I thought this whole thread inception was thanks to the discussion that despite not looking like you're in your early 20s you can be attractive as a woman and don't have to be afraid of aging. Changing your entire face just to look like you're in your early 20s misses the point. Although I see the point that it can still be inspiring in a different way.

I think it's depressing that women over a certain age are no longer even allowed to try and be beautiful. Same as people not having to give up on "childish" interests as an adult, you also shouldn't have to give up on taking care of your appearance if you wish to do so.

No. 150057

That’s not the point. I think most people would agree that it’s ok to try to improve/maintain your looks but farmers already have a hyperfixation with aging well and being beautiful, it would possibly be helpful to see women not only as ornamental but also as people with admirable accomplishment and intelligence.

While her charity work and amazing survival story are very inspiring and commendable i find it funny that people put Audrey in such a pedestal.

She went after Mel Ferrer when he was married, and yes she was the one who pursued him, and basically caused his fallout with Frances Gunby, people close to her when she didn't have her kids yet also said she drank alot and smoked like a chimney, she also cheated on her second husband with Ben Gazzara, and then with Andrea Dotti who she left her husband for.

She was as messy as any hollywood star.

This is Unica Zurn, I'm not sure how old she was in this pic but she was the wife of surrealism artist Hans Bellmer in 1940s-60s in Paris, she also wrote books and did her own art. The craziest thing about her to me was that she never tried to make her own art and only did commercial writing until she met Hans Bellmer when she was already in her late 30s, previously married with two kids, and a divorcee. Her first art exhibits where in her in her early to mid 40s.

Gisèle Halimi, French lawyer who advocated for abortion rights and the recognition of rape victims. She died this summer at 93 yo. She looks BOMB, hope I'll get to age like this.

I feel like celebrities (and even regular women) go too hard on the botox nowadays, like having forehead wrinkles is an abomination. I like wrinkled skin, it gives more character than artifically smoothed skin. I wonder if today's 50 and 60 yo celebs will ever stop the botox since they're so used to it.

It's the money: money to buy the best foods, chefs, dieticians, personal trainers, surgeons, make-up artists, skincare and treatments to stay looking as youthful as possible. I'm sure genetics also play a role, but it's undeniable money plays a large role in looking youthful at an older age.

And that's what I find a bit funny about this thread. So many women here are celebs who paid for their youthful looks just like that, is that really inspiring to you all? Having enough money to smooth out your wrinkles?

To be honest, I think that has more to do with drinking, smoking, tanning, and less healthy lifestyles than their race. Although I do know race is a contributing factor.

My mom is white and her skin didn't age badly at all. She's almost 60, and she could pass for 40's. She always wore sunscreen + hats. Drank plenty of water. Exercised. Ate well.

>She was the co-founder and first chief technology officer of One Laptop per Child (OLPC), and later founded Pixel Qi in Taipei, Taiwan, focused on the design and manufacture of displays. Imagine wanting to see women that are more than an eye candy is a radfem concept. You have the entire internet dedicated to "hot" women. It's really nice to see women who made it especially in male dominated spaces.
Even you are basing the entire woman's worth on her looks. Apparently success is entirely secondary or irrelevant to you. Spoken like a scrote too.

No. 151483

>>151478
I’m not saying the concept is radfem, I was talking about the people literally posting their radfem idols. I’m also not saying success is secondary or irrelevant, just that I personally do not want or need to read a thread about it, and I personally was just looking for beauty inspiration and that it probably would have made more sense for this to be two separate threads - I wasn’t trying to make some societal statement on women’s value. Personally I do not need a thread of inspiring successful women over 30 because the vast majority of successful women are over 30, there is absolutely no shortage of them. I’m sure other women would be interested in that, hence why I said there should be a thread for it, I just think the point of this thread is a little unclear and probably shouldn’t be lumped together. Me on an individual level not being interested in that reading about that topic on lolcow and looking more for beauty inspiration does not mean I think women are nothing more than their appearance.

She made herself a household name, avoided the typical model age-out even after having four children, she was the breadwinner in her marriage to Seal (unless he was making ridiculous royalties from Kiss from a Rose, hahaahahah no, we all know he wasn't), and she is more intelligent and funny than she ever gets credit for. In a non-native language no less!

I was a huge fan of Project Runway before it left Bravo and her contributions made it clear she understood the industry/business, respected the work that goes into garment construction, and revered artistic innovation. I found myself agreeing with her more often than Tim Gunn. I didn't intend for this to turn into a love letter to her, but as someone who has considered a career in fashion design, she is a breath of fresh air.

Melanin does provide a significant advantage, but that doesn't mean pale skin is a death sentence. You just gotta be extra vigilant about sunscreen.

I have a feeling young women (of any race) are going to start aging better and better, and those stereotypes will become outdated within the next few generations. People think white women age badly and women in general expire at 30, but those beliefs are based on generations of women who probably used tanning oil instead of sunscreen and had no idea what retinol is. Even in just the past few years, I feel that skincare has levelled up like crazy thanks to beauty gurus, /r/sca, etc improving our understanding. Proven, science based information is easily accessible for anyone who has the internet, not to mention there is a wider range of affordable products available.

Meanwhile men still don't give a fuck and are aging like garbage because the internet told them they'll age like wine and be swimming in teen pussy lmao.

Not on you OP, but I've always hated this stereotype but only because it's something we as women say negatively about other women that scrotes then use to justify their misogyny. You just know there's scrotes who go like
"I only date beautiful infantile Asian women because, you know, WHITE women age like cheese"

Regardless of ethnicity people need to realize a lot of aging is determined by lifestyle and genetics, but also really take into consideration the genetics part. Genetics play a huge huge role in how you age and some people are born with certain features and wrinkles or develop them early on. Looking "older" at first also doesn't mean you can't age well, some people might have sameface syndrome their entire life where they have a "mature" face and look "old" for their age, then look younger than their peers, and don't age harder until they hit their 40s-50s, for example

No. 194164

>>194117
Eh, it's not a meme just because you've had one subjective experience in which your black coworkers look their age. Also, none of you are actually "old" yet so I don't see the point in comparing before like 50s and beyond. Studies have confirmed non-white races show fewer signs of aging. Black women and Asians (they have a different type of melanin) have higher levels of melanin which protects against sun damage that leads to wrinkles and skin cancer. They also have a thicker and more compact dermis, more collagen, which makes lines less pronounced. Generally speaking (of course some white people have better genetics), white women who do nothing to protect their skin are going to age worse than non-white women who do nothing, though if white women wear sunscreen and take measures to maintain their collagen like retin-a, they won't be hit as hard.

No. 194352

>>194164
What studies? Oily skin is also one of the biggest factors in aging and lots of white people have oily skin. Also im white and i don't really care if i age poorly or not. I don't want to obsess over myself, spending thousands of dollars and dedicating lots of time/effort to "aging well" over the years to keep the approval of scrotes who don't even wash their asses. There are more fulfilling things to do. I don't believe that any woman actually does that for herself Everyones going to age sooner or later no matter what, even if some supposedly age slower than others.

Meh, as someone who worked in funeral services and in nursing homes the WOC looked just as wrecked and aged as the white women. It’s a meme. Also noticed the WOC had more sagging and deflated appearances (think jowls, low hanging cheeks etc) while non WOC had more (easy to see) fine lines but less sagging and deflation. WOC do have lines they’re just harder to see upon first glance due to the darkness of skin. Just my observation. They age differently but at very similar rates and everyone looks awful later in life in their own unique way.

White people do age faster on average, not sure why everyone is disagreeing, everyone knows exceptions to the rule, but so what? It's been researched. White people's ageing issues are premature fine lines, but black and asians faces do age, just differently and a bit slower. The research says poc faces "fold" like a bulldog instead (see barack obama's chin as a mild example) and have moderate to severe hyperpigmentation, whereas majority of whites don't have these issues, and if they do, it's very mild. I have found mid to dark skinned black people do in fact age very well, but not asians (east or south). It also depends on the country regarding how badly white people age. Aussie whites age an incredible 20 years faster than their ethnic counterparts in the British isles (not my impression, this is from actual research). USA whites age badly compared to continental euros too IME. The avg UV in the US is too strong for Northern Euro descent people and the avg US diet is abysmal. Anyway, genetics can't be changed, so best advice is to be reasonably sensible re diet, sun and enjoy life. I'm not worried personally as everyone ages ridiculously well in my family even though we are bone white, it's a personal thing after all.

This is a thin (more wrinkles, less sagging) vs thick/heavier skin (fewer wrinkles, more sagging) issue. I'm a white woman with thick skin. Just by looking at my parents I can tell that gravity and scaring, not wrinkling, is going to be my nemesis. I also have way too many dark spots. Ironically, moles are associated with a slower aging overall.
https://www.bbc.com/news/health-11813378

The ideal anti-aging combo would be thick skin with great bone structure to support it.

Not 30+ but whatever, I wanted to post this woman somewhere and this thread is dead anyway.

This is 27 year old Gulali Mohammadi from Afghanistan. She's the youngest member of parliament of the Afghan parliament and the only women. As a child she was supposed to marry at 12 years old, as is custom for girls in Afghanistan. Instead she pushed for her parents to let het go to school, even though her male family members threatened to kill her. She started her own school at home, teaching illiterate women and poor children, proving she could earn money as a woman. After that she followed secundary school and became a midwife and later worked a manager on an airport. Two years ago she ran for parliamentary elections and won the only spot for a woman. Now she's the only woman on the parliament and uses her function to empower women. She tries to convince men to allow their daughters to follow education and tries to inform women about their rights for education, work and healthcare. Earlier this year the Taliban killed her brother and they've been threatening to kill her too, yet she refuses to give up.

My bad, what I meant was that feminists in developed countries have it way easier. While I won't diminish their efforts, it's different when you're against men who are allowed to voice their perceived superiority versus against men who can't openly do that anymore (even if they think it). Hope this makes sense.

Idk if it's creepy to post someon who's not a celebrity, but an internet person but here goes. someone who inspires me is a small wardrobe, she has a youtube channel about minimalism, specifically minimalism pertaining to your clothes. I've watched her channel for a few years and I find her and her life inspirational. she lives in australia with her cat and used to be an art teacher. her style is beautiful, her videos are informative (if you're into minimalism/style), she's funny and lots of commenters say she reminds them of a 'cool aunt'. she gives me very strong 'independent woman' vibes, not that we know much about her life outside of her youtube channel but she definitely gives those vibes. not that it's important but I also think she's very beautiful, I believe she's 38 or 39 and she looks fantastic - so fresh and healthy looking. Maryam Mirzakhani! The first woman to win the Fields Medal, basically like the gold Olympics medal for mathematics. She wanted to be a writer when she was young and was not that good at math, but she joined Iran's International Mathematics Olympiad to win gold and silver. After getting her bachelors in math, she went over to Stanford to do her PhD and did a lot of amazing things. Unfortunately due to cancer, she passed away at 40. Interestingly enough, many of Iran's newspapers did not photoshop the hijab and instead used her portrait without it for the front page.

I remember this dress was parodied on Hannah Montana which was where I first saw itmy dad walked in while i was watching the episode and enthusiastically proclaimed "thats Björk's dress!" kek. Thinking back they where probably mocking the dress but I was never good at understanding jokes as a child and I genuinely thought the dress was beautiful. I love animals and I thought (still do) that swans are elegant and beautiful so naturally a dress that resembles a swan is beautiful. The Wild Swans is also my favourite fairytale and the dress reminded me of that.

Anyway I got into her music in my teens and it felt so refreshing from the stuff I usually listen to. Her music have so many emotions in it. I love how she blends different instruments and electronic sounds together, and how she blends genres. I think I read somewhere that she was one the first artists that got mainstream attention for to blending electro elements into other genres?
I genuinely didn't know music could sound like that. Up until that point I mostly listened to pop music. Granted the pop music I listen to is more "experimental" than the average top 40 song, but there is still a feeling of "we gotta follow a certain structure", "we gotta make it catchy", "e gotta make it chart in our niche community". Björk's music doesnt really do that. I get the feeling she treats music like an art form, rather than focusing on making the most catchy summerhit. I know saying something has soul is a meme but genuinely there is so much soul in her music.
>>344210
>Sm Smth and Harry Style-less wish that they could pull off looking ~quirky this good. The difference is that Bjork has always been outside of the mainstream and those two are cosplaying as weirdos.
Kek yeah. Björk is a creative person. Thinking outside the box comes naturally to her. I doubt she thinks herself as weird or is purposely putting on a weird image. She just does what she genuinely thinks looks/sounds good. Many other "weird" celebs are too try-hard. You can tell they only dress that way to get attention, instead of genuinely enjoying it
off topic rant, but people like sam smith and harry styles clearly put these sort of images on to LARP as being oppressed. When Smith started dressing like that he became very vocal about being non-binary. Styles had the whole "people like me dont win Grammys" speech, which is fucking bullshit since he is a white man whose career was created by Simon Cowell who is an extremely influential music producers. While Björk is still mocked for the dress and for being "weird" even amongst people who like her music. I bet the backlash against her style and personality wouldnt had been so big if she was a man so it annoys me to no end that Smith thinks he no longer benefits from male privilege and Styles thinks he is oppressed for having an ugly fashion sense
Also Harry Styles is such an untalented hack. One of my friends told me he has a song that is sooooo weird and i had to hear how weeeeird it is and then she proceed to play the most radio-safe top 40 sounding song ever. Its genuinely sad that Harry Styles music is considered experimental nowadays.

I don't care what anybody says, this dress was super cute and I bought it on stardoll and made my doll wear it.

Eh idk calling her a genius is a stretch. I don't get the hype tbh.

I just think with her writing her own lyrics and producing some really great music she's definitely up there. I don't agree with the other person who says she is a misogynist, sure, she's not a feminist but I think it's a stretch to say she stole from other women.

Came here to post this. She's like 90, still sharp as a tack, amazing posture and flexibility, she looks great, and still does conservation work to this day. I can only pray I am that capable at 90. Makes me feel a little less worried about working out in the sun all day lol.

Actress I like from old French movies. I was surprised to find out she was 45 in this picture.

She died a few days ago, but, I'm posting Peggy Moffitt. I'd seen her in a film from the early 60's and was shocked to learn she later became a huge fashion icon. It's inspiring as hell because she had a weird face, was very tall and gangly, but was embraced by the fashion of the 60's and turned into a swan.

I had no idea that the founder of granny perfume and cosmetics lead such a cool life:
>born poor in 1878 in rural Canada
>moved to New York in 1908
>opens cosmetic salon with female friend just 2 years later
>immediately so successful that she can pay back the 1000 bucks her brother loaned her
>completely blows up, has products created by her own chemists, new innovative treatments, exercises, opens beauty farms and so on, known for silly adds
>at the age of 37 she marries her employee during a lunch break (divorces him later, he only gets 100 dollars and a 5 year ban from the industry)
>expands to Europe, is somehow still super successful during the Great Depression, 2nd woman (after the Queen) on the cover of Times magazine
>marries a russian prince at the age of 57, divorces him a year later
>her hobby is horse races, wins 5 millions
>dies childless aged 81, only then people find out she had been lying about her age the entire time
Just the fact that a poor girl during the 19th century managed to stay unmarried and went to work in a huge city at the age of 30 instead is honestly amazing.
