>>72097I've never cared for brand names. I never really liked the idea of a logo being enough to make a design "good" if that makes sense. I grew up watching my aunt and cousin go fucking INSANE over handbags with Louis Vutton logos all over it that looked identical to one they had the year before that and the year before that. It's a status symbol first and if you happen to get one that is actually a cute and unique design I'll never hate someone who loves brands, but god damn people like my aunt weird me out when it comes to bags.
For me I look for a cute design first, sturdiness second (The way I see it if it breaks it's an excuse to buy a new purse), size third, price fourth, and brand absolute last.
I personally love a lot of backpack style purses (I love them for concerts or travel because it doesn't feel like I'm lugging a purse everywhere but a normal backpack, even the cute ones still looks like i'm in gradeschool.
Honestly I'm more into shoes I'm just now realizing, do we have a shoe thread?

>>72097I love Chanel's double flap bags. I have a black silver hardware chanel flap in lambskin in jumbo. The Jumbo sizes are quite roomy honestly, and its a good investment if you don't change your style a lot. That particular bag has always been a timeless style.
I love watching youtuber's post videos about "what's in my bag" lol. Idk why, so addicting. I like seeing what people carry and maybe it might help me carry stuff I need?
I like having one bag for different occasions. I have a small Kate Spade clutch on a gold chain, and it has minnie mouse on it. Its so cute. Its in a nude color to match pretty much anything, and I like it when I don't feel like carrying a lot besides some cash and my phone. I also have an ita bag for conventions or just day trips to Disneyland/Zoo/etc for carrying a lot of junk like snacks, merch, water, etc. It's nice to have an oversized tote bag too.
The liz lisa basket bags seem cute but they look fragile, are they durable?

I recently bought a Birkin 45 in red, mainly because I wanted a bigger and more classic shaped bag- most of the ones in my collection, like the Gucci Sylvie and Givenchy Pandora, are really beautiful but definitely not a classic shape.
I bought pic related because I wanted something cheap and simple for school but I think I'm going to return it because I hate monogram.

You have Ted Baker in the US you know, and in Canada at Nordstrom.
It is a British Brand I believe, or Scottish, as the man behind Ted Baker is Scottish and started off as a fine shirt tailor for men based in Scotland.

>>72249Perhaps it would've been best if you picked one, your most favourite, rather than getting two and potentially jeopardising money for rent despite how tempting the bags are. It's still just a bag when it comes down to it and having a roof over your head is more important.
But then again, the purchases of both made you happy even though you'll probably feel a bit guilty for your spending and not prioritising rent. Rent doesn't make you happy, it's simply a boring necessity forced upon us and part of the boring responsibility of being an adult that sucks up your hard earned cash and is "dead money" of which you get no enjoyment from.
Just ask your parent(s) for help with the rent this month or someone close kek you got to treat yourself sometime.
Anyway i'm sure you wouldn't have done it if it would've really put you in a bad situation.
Just enjoy them.
Rent you can make up for at anytime but these bags are a one off; once it's gone, it's gone, and if you look after them well, you'll have them forever.

Am I the only one who isn’t bothered by fake handbags? I talked to an agent about a Chanel backpack that is the same leather and hardware as a $4500-5000 bag for $300+. It’s still expensive but it’s the same bag basically for 1/10 of the cost. I haven’t bought it yet but it feels like the 1:1 agents are charging the price that the bags are actually worth and the rest of the price tag for the real one is just to make sure that not every poorfag is able to afford it. Apparently rich fashion people are pissed that the fakes are such good quality but I guess that’s what happens when you outsource the majority of labor to Asia and poor workers who are sharing trade secrets as they should.

>>301084Like I said originally I think it’s just gatekeeping poor people out because Chanel purses do range extraordinarily high compared to other bags including more prestigious names like YSL. The 1:1 replica price in that case ($300) is probably closer to the actual worth of the bag, not the inflated price. I really think Chanel only prices that high because dumb and/or rich fucks will buy it. Most authentic bags (not Chanel) will retail second hand between $500-1500 but Chanel is always way above that for some reason. Chanel bags aren’t even that hard to find either so it’s not a restricted supply issue. I can understand appreciating value in the case of Vivienne Westwood purses as I am a Vivienne Westwood fiend myself and VW bags are hard to find if people in Japan aren’t selling them.
Also might be worth saying that I am a cool-toned person and I buy bags with silver hardware as opposed to gold, which makes handbag shopping harder. Just a tip for any cool-toned nonnies—silver hardware is not as uncommon for brands like Prada, Givenchy(!!), Vivienne Westwood, and YSL for any anons who are curious. Louis Vuitton and Fendi bags are nearly all gold hardware.
Also Dior prices extremely high, like this canvas bag is over $3145 USED. Any canvas bag should just be bought from taobao because canvas durability is a total joke no matter what “italian” factory it claims to be from. Any tote like picrel or the Chloé Woody tote should be a fake, never pay full price for this shit kek.
No. 301113
>>301083>>301089>>301084i just wanna say, the price of the bags generally have to do a lot with the way they are made too.
yes most of the price is still markup because of the name, but a lot of knock offs are probably made quiet unethically whereas most real designers bags are not.
most brands still make their items in their respective countries of origin (or italy), have better machinery, grannies and grandpas that have been working for them for years, and their own farms or places that exclusively supply to them.
usually brands are very hush hush about the details of their factories and supply but i used to work for a certain brand and there was always all kinds of talks and gossip about how x brands facilities are better than others, they won't buy anything made by x anymore because they changed something in their production, etcetc
of course there's gossip of this stuff online too tho so if you're really curious about the "worth" of certain brands you can try to dig up stuff
No. 301129
>>301110I have pretty extravagant style and I like the designs of some designer bags. If I could find a good imitation at Zara or something I might buy that secondhand but those are fast fashion anyways and not made to last whereas 1:1 fakes will last as long as the real one.
Also the ethics of the actual designer factories aren’t any better than the ones that make fakes. That talking point was created partially by fashion houses to give people more reason to spend five to ten times more on the same product. I wish there was a decent resale site for replica and fake bags though so I wouldn’t be paying the factories directly; Poshmark and ebay will suspend your account if you try to resell a fake bag at a cheaper price simply because it’s counterfeit. There are some workarounds but usually that leads to someone selling a fake for like $30.

>>302479nope, that anon is painfully wrong and misinformed. all the bags are now either made in china or in factories in italy or egypt owned by chinese immigrants. there are ways they get around the eu import loop holes, where i believe the last 30% or some other percentage of the bag has to be "assembled" in europe or the united states so that they can stamp the "made in x" on it. there are plenty of articles exposing the designer fashion industry for doing this, which i will include (search the cached version on google since it is behind a paywall). 30+ years ago, yes, skilled artisans made the clothing, since my grandmother visited one of gucci's factories on a class field trip when she went back to college for a fashion design program. the only reason why big name luxury brands are able to charge as much as they do for their clothing is simple economics and psychological bullshit. they realized that people see the high price tag (usually new money retards or aspirational wannabes) and associate it with some sort of magical value, since we live in a hyperconsumerist society where your self-worth is tied to what you own. the bags are literally made for 20 or 30 USD and then marked up outrageously. i am not trying to shame people either as i own a couple of lv bags and am planning on getting another one in the near future, but it is what it is.
