I was reading some random TVTropes article that I found, and watched the example videos at the end. The second/third video was that scene
from season 4 episode 1, where Sofia finds out about Cedric's true intentions of taking over the kingdom, but at that point they're already friends so he feels guilty. That's why so many Japanese media characters have their blood type listed in their character introductions/profiles.
Now, in TMGS, all the personal info you give at the beginning is there not only for self-insert purposes (even though some stuff like blood type or room style might seem completely irrelevant and useless from a gameplay perspective), but also to determine some things like your starting stats and the first female friend you meet (room style) and your horoscope for the whole 3 in-game years (birthday/sign and blood type).
Anyway, I'm so glad that you've tried it out, I hope you finish at least one route someday (it took me a couple of years to finally pick it up again and fully enjoy the three games there were at the time, after my first try), always love it when this fantastic otome series gets some love from new players.
On a more on-topic note, three of my husbandos came from this series (actually one but the other two came pretty close to my own standard of what I consider a "true husbando"). Two are even in the same game lol. TokiMemo boys are really good and there's a nice variety of them.
I recommend looking at a guide on GameFAQs or something to get the hang of the gameplay quickly.
