I've been reading slash since I was a preteen. When you're that young, it seriously affects the way you learn about and understand sex/relationships - I think BL comics were the reason I, as a socially inept wallflower 14 year old, chased after guys who were the complete opposite of me. Because I had this idea that opposites always attract, courtesy of BL and slash fiction. (pic related, one of my way old school OTPs)

Under Grand Hotel is an actual really good yaoi manga set in prison and there are multiple rape scenes. And not the typical "oh no I don't want this but my body says yes!" type of thing. But aside from that the plot is really compelling as well.
Plus you have a darker skinned character that isn't 'ambiguous tan' which is basically unheard of in BL.

I like BL too. Cute and fluffy is always nice. I havent read Negative-kun and Positive-kun but upon looking it up, I have read pic related by same author. Ikemen-kun To Saenai-kun. It was cute, and the art is nice. I'll add it to my list.
When I was looking I got reminded of Kumota Haruko because a pic showed up on google image search. I think she only made a few stories but they were really good.

Nobara by Kumota Haruka in case you were wondering. It's a cute BL with older characters than a typical high school setting.
She also did Shinjuku Lucky Hole which was nice but a bit more sexual, has a nice 3p scene in I think the third installment. It's more toward BL so not very graphic at all if I recall correctly.
Looks like there are a few of her works that have been translated since I last checked so I'm going to read.

I've been playing Lamento and listening to/reading the drama CD translations, I like that Rhapsody to the Past has more background about the devils but I thought Razel's past was kind of disappointing compared to the others. Verg and Froud's were really interesting though.
I think what I liked a lot about Lamento is that for an adventure type VN it didn't have a lot of characters. It felt like there was a really personal story between the whole cast.

Another manga I've been keeping up with is Innocent, which isn't BL outright, but there's some occasional male-on-male wank that I'm sure some of you would like. I fucking love Shinichi Sakamoto's stuff. His art is so lavish and beautiful. Every page is goddamn stunning.

Just finished reading this by Ogawa Chise. Pretty good as far as smut goes.
The high school has an arbitrary caste system put in place by a game organized by the students. The game decides everyone's social "rank" in the school. The longtime "King" is cast down to the lowest rank in the next game.
There are a few stories involved, I like the second one best (pic related). There are some continuity errors from first to second story but you can just overlook them.
There were a few scenes that I would have liked to see and would have made sense in the context (and almost happened…) but weren't there. Lots of dubcon.
Ogawa Chise writes a lot of good smut, though some of it is incest. I'm not usually into that but I've been reading it anyway because I like everything else.

yeah their routes….so i honestly teared up a bit. the end of maki's route….it hit me hard…..
ryu's route hit me too. i didn't like him as much as the others (i generally dislike meganes) but by the end of it i felt.
i keep trying to get people to play it but NO ONE WILL because they don't like the character designs. kouichi was a bit too daddy for me but otherwise i don't see what the big deal is. the plot was actually good (for a bl game) and like….it's all around a good game. damn.
if nothing else people should play it because it's the first localized bl game in ages and we need more.

but that's not the one most people suggest. i think most people suggest hiroyuki as the first route and i have to agree. if you're not sure where to start i would just start with him, he's super cute and screams a lot and you get a good idea of how everyone else is.

Anyone else a fan of HQ!!?
I'm worried it's becoming too flavour of the month and it'll disappear quickly, but it's genuinely become my favourite sports anime. For once I don't really have an OTP, and I enjoy seeing the different ships come out of doujins/fic/fanart. It's really interesting to see who people ship different characters.
Plus it's so cute and pure, and there's none of that stupid irrational hatred/rivalry that plagues other sports animes. It's a realistic setting where characters have healthy rivalries but also friendships with people from other teams. I especially love Bokuto and Kuroo's dynamic, as well as Hinata's ability to befriend practically everyone.

Past tense is pretty hard to get wrong in a translation, but it was narration anyway which is usually past tense.
But it was that in combination with the fact that he looked sad about his future and he's dropping everything to go mentor someone who could replace him, plus some minor things (the dog named after him dying). This manga made me realize how much I love ugly uke/ gorgeous seme love stories. The confusion and insecurity in the ugly duckling is so endearing to me. I'm sad I can't find many other stories like this. "Out of Control" is said to be similar, and some of the art even looks vaguely traced from His Favourite, but the tone and pacing and set up aren't jiving with me.

not quite what this thread is about bc it's a non-anime graphic novel but The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal is hands-down one of the best bits of gay fiction I've ever read. I remember back in my deviantart days occasionally seeing outside people stereotype yaoi fangirls as all being lesbians, and every close fujo friend I've made turned out being some sort of queer. It was actually confusing for 14 year old me at first since I concluded my interest in BL was b/c I was super straight and thought everyone was the same lol

>>21066You don't know a lot of fujos do you?
The "fujos are lesbians" meme is so old and based on a tired stereotype that actually finding a fujo girlfriend as a lesbian fujo is terribly hard. In the olden days these "lesbian fujos" were straight girls who were just afraid of contact with men so they turned to their female friends to form a proto-lesbian relationship. Nowadays the "lesbian fujos" are transtrenders trying to present as gay men and preaching about how regular cisgirls liking BL is ~fetishizing homosexuality~ (which they're certainly not doing). So all in all, most fujos are straight or bisexual.
>>185884Well, first of all the men in BL act more like women than actual real-life men since most of it is written by women, so the female audience can identify with the characters to a certain degree. They're usually romance stories first, which men don't find appealing. If you compare it to yuri, yuri is often quite masculine and the girls don't act like girls do because contrary to BL it's most of the time written by men for a male audience. It's more about character dynamics and stories than the actual gender of the characters.

I'm playing FE Fates Conquest these days, I wanted to marry Zero/Niles as a guy but I decided to play as a girl because this would let me unlock all the characters instead, including Niles' fujo daughter. I wonder what changes when you marry him as a guy, aside from the support scenes that aren't different in the shit localization. I'll try to marry him as a guy in Revelation. I wish Silas were a gay option too and that the lesbian option weren't so shit.

Been playing Room no 9 recently, i was so excited for it, and honestly i'm tiny bit disappointed with it.
The story is kind of mediocre. I am currently missing only one ending block, which i hope explains a little more of the story or gives more depth to the characters other than "we are friends, he is the super super chill bottom bitch and i'm the hyper one". I know bl games do not tend to have the best stories, but unless you treat this one as pure smut you'll probably be disappointed most of the time except for a few endings.
So far, the choices to make seem rather limited. Kinda thought you would decide every day wether to do torture or sex since the game seemed to be about that, but you make a choice between those two one single time since the rest of the time the boys choose it themselves (and i'ts always sex, hooray). Only made 5-6 choices in my 10 hours playing. (which do change the endings dramatically, to be fair.)
The sex cg's are absolutely fantastic, the art is nice(although there were definitely some weird proportions or perspectives, but i don't mind it as much) and the voice acting is superb, the scat cg with grotesque stuff turned on is fucking gross though, didn't expect it to be as graphic, which surprised me. So if you pick it up and are grossed by that stuff, be warned that you cannot skip this part of the story, as it is obligatory, although you can turn grotesque off and it's not bad at all
Overall, it's okay, the boys are cute and the sex is great and some endings are pretty good, but i'm still kinda dissapointed eventhough i like it quite a lot, maybe i was expecting too much out of it.

I personally find it absolutely normal when straight (or otherwise) men enjoy bl/yaoi.

There seem to be quite a few anons who're still into Yaoi (judging by the Porn Criticism thread), so I hope it's okay to necro this thread.
I absolutely love when the roles are "reversed", meaning a strong, manly Uke and a feminine, long-haired Seme.
I highly recommend all of Abe Akane's works. Pic related is "Moon and Sun", it's extremely good and beautifully drawn (however, the Seme is crossdressing, so if that's not your thing…).
Other stuff of hers that I really like (and read multiple times) are "Ubawareru Koto Marugoto Zenbu" and "Suki Toiunoni Nazekashira" (both stories are linked together). No older Seme raping a childlike Uke who ends up enjoying it, just two handsome adults.

Anyway I asked this for a few reasons. One because I was reading a 5ch thread where Jap fujos are worried about the state of BL games, calling it an endangered genre and noting how niche it is. Companies go bankrupt left and right and sales are low. If even Japs think it's dead, it's dead.
Two, on the Western side of things, I noticed how otome fans are extremely visible and organized, and constantly push for a wide variety of games to get localized and make sure companies see them. Contrast with BL where fujos seem largely disinterested in BL games beyond DMMd.
Considering how many fujos are out there you'd think BLVNs would be more thriving. I can only wonder if there's a reason why they're largely overlooked.

>>21128Just theorizing so don't take me too seriously but I wonder if it's because of the relative time and effort required to download them and get them to work vs anime/manga. It's not super difficult or anything but finding a legit download source and messing with the settings can still be a turn off for a computer noob, whereas streaming media or reading online is much more comfortable and simple. And unlike otome, there just isn't enough (good) content being produced for anyone to give a fuck. The reason western fans go on about DMMD (and other N+C titles) and NTY is cause they're flagships, and there isn't that much else worth reading with a promise of any kind of translation.
For me personally, I'm growing out of my fujo phase and while I still like some content, I'm probably not serious enough about it anymore to bother with a full length VN. I think many western fujos are leaving for fanfiction (even of non-Asian media) or regular vidya with romance plots like Dragon Age or ME.

>>21138Fujos know their game won't be translated no matter how much they push it, the market is MUCH smaller than for otome games and the west is scared of gays anyway. And I don't know where you hang around to say that the BL audience doesn't express interest in untranslated games, I see a lot of people lamenting over how a.) they're not available to the west even in Japanese b.) they don't exist at all. The main woe is that even in Japan the BL games are pretty niche and not a lot of them get even made compared to Otomes which pop up like mushrooms. For every BL game there are like 20 Otome games so of course their availability (and thus demand) is a lot higher. And to be frank a lot of fujos substitute otome games for BL due to the reasons mentioned so the genre has double the fans.

You don't have to lie, your reasons are yours alone and you don't have to try to measure yourself to anyone else. I just disagree that those two explanations are similar. One is more about feeling bad about yourself, the other about feeling bad about society.
If it helps, the academic idea was tied into Japan's gender politics and a specific point in time (the crration of bl/yaoi and it's growing popularity), so I am not sure if it applies to many fangirls anywhere. I just found it an interesting explanation. It does sound very high and noble for being a theory about female-read erotica.

I don't remember which thread it was but someone said that shitty men are easy to spot by how badly they treat fujos because it goes on to show that they hate it when women have sexual autonomy. The whole term "fujoshi" comes from people calling girls rotten because their virginal value is spoiled if they like porn all on their own.
The "there's no competition in yaoi for women" reason is true to an extent, but it 's not the whole story and I hate how people are pushing that narrative. BL lets women enjoy their sexuality and have something catered to female gaze without feeling like they're being pressured by exhibiting the ideal female role. Not a lot of media has that.

Is it still fetishizing when they exclusively enjoy G rated, non porn BL?
And like you said, the reality is that fujos enjoy humanized and developed characters. I find this particularly true for western fujos in regards to fanfic (may also be true in Japanese fic but I can't read it) - many girls literally want to read hundreds of thousands of words of slow build relationship development before getting to the sex. They gravitate towards fanfiction rather than original stories because they want to know and like the characters. They are far from objectified and a lot of the time show a lot of respect and affection for the characters involved. Yeah, there is some ~
problematic~ stuff, like top/bottom stereotypes and 'loving rape', but chances are that stuff is written by young, sexually inexperienced women. a lot of women who are into yaoi are straight so them applying heteronormative dynamics onto the characters isn’t strange at all. having certain preferences as to what character holds what ~position~ in bed isn’t dumb or
problematic. it’s literally a just sexual preference, it just happens to be that it applies to fictional scenarios and not irl.
it’s a fantasy.
it’s not real.
no sane person is claiming that’s how every single gay relationship since the beginning of time is structured.
i wish people would stop trying to dictate what women can and can’t like. there’s an entire industry revolving around what men like in terms of sexual entertainment and it’s completely accepted and celebrated. allow women to enjoy their choice of sexual entertainment and preferences in peace.

The only people being so butthurt by the power play tropes in BL either are the self-hating ex-fujos who have never read BL besides the mid 00's edgy rape fantasy series or the insecure MLM fakebois who don't pass and developed a complex about it, then started lashing out at fujos.

It helped me come to terms with my own homosexuality, but it would have bee more logical to jump on wlw fiction.
But I don't phantasise when I read and I don't touch myself, I'm not even aroused usually, I'm just addicted to slash fiction and it's very stupid thing to be addicted to in my case since I don't get anything out of it outside from a cookie-cutter descriptions of sex between men. I need to vent about this and because the vent thread would just result into spergy anons screeching at me about degenerate fujos I'm doing it in our safe space: Browsing social media and the anti-fujo discourse drives me fucking nuts. The archetypal people who do it:
>The MLM fakeboi: he/him pronouns, ♂, rainbow flag, Voltron, BNHA. The 19-year old girl who trooned out and now wants to throw every other female under the bus. Acts like only their love for fujo stuff is valid because they're ~a true gay guy~ who's absolutely not fetishizing homosexuality at all unlike all those evil straight girl fujo strawmen!! Usually dating another fakeboi and calling themselves a "gay male cople".
>The "Not like other girls": Dresses in tacky bodyline shit and $3 Aliexpress cat thigh highs, thinks they're the only girl in the world who likes pedobait yuri porn and solely exists to please men whatever it takes, including hating on fujos. Because yuck that's girl stuff!!! And I'm not like those other vapid girls!!
>The suppressed trauma: Had a horrible experience as a 15-year old fujo with their sociopath friend(s) as a teen, now is trying their hardest to detach themselves from their fujo past and is deadly afraid of lesbians even though that one crazy girl who sexually harassed her is now married to a man and got bored of fujo stuff at least 8 years ago. Associates everything related to BL with horny teenaged AoE fics with noncon&angst tags.
>The outsider: All knowledge of fujos is based on parodies and stereotypes from 2006, uses outdated or ignorant terminology (often calls BL "yaoi" and fujos "yaoi fangirls"), unironically thinks Sasuke/Naruto is considered the hottest couple of 2019 and that the otome genre is the same thing as BL. Believes all BL is about raunchy rape porn between a humorously massive "seme" and an "uke" that looks like a little girl.
>The scrote: The guy who simply hates everything that caters to girls and especially if it shows male characters in a vulnerable position. Often a variation of "the Outsider". Is the type of person to throw an autistic brodude fit over seeing two men kiss. Ironically still might like traps.
Every single person I see complaining about fujos falls under one of these categories. The BL community has grown a lot from what it used to be in the beginning and while porn is still a part of the genre, the characters and plots have developed heaps and there's a much bigger selection to every taste. Yet fujos continue to be shitted on the most. Pisses me the fuck off.

Believes all BL is about raunchy rape porn between a humorously massive "seme" and an "uke" that looks like a little girl. Way too many of these retards on lolcow.
But even then, the vitriol seme/uke archetypes attract is fucking excessive. Is it such a crime if women, who have been taught since a young age that being slim, pretty and submissive is necessary if you want to get fucked, can't completely disassociate their taste from that? It's extremely mild internalized misogyny at worst and nobody is really hurt by it. Gay men don't need straight women's approval so I really fucking doubt any of them give a shit about girls wanting hairless bottoms, and straight women get to project the beauty standards they're usually expected to adhere to on men instead of themselves and other women for once. There's no moral highground in wanting to see a big muscley bottom, but not-like-the-other-fujos love to push the 'ewwww feminine boys, only bara is good' bullshit. I really think, subconsciously, they just want to distance themselves from stuff teenage girls like because everyone hates teenage girls. And appease men, since men really hate women not preferring traditional masculinity.

The OP herself is big into BL but for some reason she has this "I'm better than other fujos" mindset, and she's not alone with this narrative. It's starting to piss me off really bad seeing fellow women punching these strawmen of "evil straight chicks fetishizing muh gays (i.e. girls who trooned out and masquerade as gay men)" when they full well know that a lot of fujoshis are lesbian or bi, or at least openly supportive of gay rights. Shounen Ai is more on the tame side so I can see how some underage girl would look at that and be like ok I wanna see this irl!!!111 but straight up balls to the wall yaoi? Hell no. There's retarded people in every community and I feel like just because some people harass actual gay people irl doesn't mean all of do. Even when I was underage I never bothered literally anyone. If anything I kept it very secret unless I was sure the person I was talking to was also a fujo. If you read the shit at home and only talk about it online with your own community it literally does not hurt the LGBT community literally /at all/. Only when the retarded girls go out IRL and harass people is when it takes a huge retarded turn. Simply keeping to yourself hurts no one. I recently saw a tweet that actually said something along the lines of "Fujoshi is a straight woman who fetishizes gay men, people who actually appreciate fictional gay relationships are not fujoshi" which is all the condensed proof you need. In reality, these "mlm activists" are just fujos to everyone not christened to their stupid buzzwords and every time they get called one, you can see how the word "fujo" is just supposed to be read as "woman". See this post from the fakeboi thread for a practical example
>>>/snow/795328 I have literally never met a cis gay man who claimed fujos are ~oppressing~ them. The only people being butthurt are the "transmen in a gay relationship" i.e. two lesbians with heaps of internalized misogyny&lesbophobia and their equally retarded handmaidens.
>>24442I think the "fujos harassing actual gay people" meme originates from the hearsay stereotype of 2005 straight fujos going up to gay guys and being "awww which one is the seme??? :3333" which is obnoxious and socially inept but far from harassment. They're a very small minority and being an oldfag I can confirm that it's ALWAYS been looked down upon in the BL/yaoi community for being absolute brainlet behavior.

actual men and not strongly female-coded people with male bodies? Yeah, me neither. Back in 2000's it used to be a big meme that the men in yaoi are just chicks with dicks. And even without that, you can appreciate the aesthetics of the porn and the well-written sentimental relationships and development the characters share. A lot of gay guys can enjoy lesbian porn, especially animated lesbian porn, despite not being attracted to women because it's often made for male taste. Just like BL is usually made for women by women, and a noticeable share of BL mangakas are bi/lesbian.

>>24514>the "Lesbians must find beautiful 2D men repulsive because they don't want to have sex with IRL men or find them attractive!!!!" memeGee I dunno, maybe the popularity of BL within lesbians is that the BL community is 99% women which is why they're drawn to it, they like to read porn with no expectations placed on female characters and they can appreciate the porn made by fellow women? Not everyone wants to self insert into the porn they consume, some people find it awkward and disturbing.
A lot of BL isn't even porn-centric, it's just two males having a meaningful relationship. A lesbian can appreciate well-written straight couples or straight porn too despite there being a male involved. It's not fucking rocket science and I don't know why you guys think it's self-contradictory. But I don't get making it a big focus of your media consumption, both fujos and yurifags, enough that it requires a label. I agree that it's unfair that the western anime fandom only calls out fujoshi and has no "polite" term for yurifags, but if you don't have a fetish for exclusively gay people of the opposite sex and think gay couples are normal then there's no need for a specific title?

Anyone seen "A Round Trip to Love"??

Quite the contrary, they either enjoy consuming it like the thirsty fudanshis they are AND support the female creators, or they simply don't give a shit because it's just fucking comics and they know fujos aren't a threat to their wellbeing. Because they're not insane. The only "gay men" who have a problem with it are the vapid "not like other fujos" fakeboi trannies who need to feel special every hour of the day and have created this "straight girl who hates real gays and fetishizes anime boys" boogeyman to drive their delusions. What they mean to say "I hate that these stupid cis whores don't recognize me as a beautiful anime bishie and worship the ground I walk on".
Sorry to be blunt and rude with my wording but that's just how it is and it breaks my heart seeing girls be ashamed of liking BL. I had to deal with all the dudebros taking a big old shit on fujos for being "cringy yaoi paddle girls lezzing out" and now I have to see "woke" circles doing it too. BL has helped so many girls, straight and gay, explore their sexuality in a safe environment and offered a Girls Only space that is to this day extremely rare privilege for young women to have. And now these narcissistic troons and their lackeys are trying to break it apart for nothing.

>>40948To be honest design wise I think the smug waifu is pretty cute, too bad she has the personality of being Yuu's token future cumrag. The school bullshit luckily doesn't last too long which is the one saving grace because it was intolerably horrible and just so obvious that the writer was trying to cash in on the trend before dropping it.
>Tell me it gets better. The stuff with Mika is good, but that's it the rest of the characters are still equally as awful Ferid does become very plot important though with him being implied to be some sort of vampire rapist with the vampire loli? Not sure if that was intentional or not though but he does get a huge role.
No. 41029
>>40948>>41011Personally I'm sticking to fanfic and doujins. The source material just isn't satisfying to me. I don't know how the author manages to make Mika so likable. Yuu is so dumb. So, so very dumb. And he never stops being full of himself. That said if you just got to vampire Mika FINISH THE REST OF THE ANIME. There really isn't that much left afterward and it's a lot better. Not great but actually kind of enjoyable, in large part because Mika gets lots of good scenes. The final episodes of the anime are even kind of exciting. Honestly it was a mistake making Yuu the main character. Mika is not only more likeable but has the more interesting backstory and the vampire world is more interesting than the human world. A good guy stuck working for the bad guys (as it looks from first glance) is more intriguing too. Oh and Mina's closest 'compatriots', Ferid and Vamp loli also provide more entertaining interactions to bounce off Mika compared to Yuu and his dull as dirt team.
Wish I could find s good fanfic where the storyline of the source material is brought to a conclusion, might well be better than the source material. I just want more Mika and Shinoa without all the baggage of the manga's mediocrity.

>>41961I'm really particular about art style, and I hate seme-uke stereotypes with a burning passion. If you have similar thoughts, you'll enjoy the same things I did:
I liked the Banana Fish manga a lot, but it's not for everybody. The show is… okay. I sort of prefer manga by default though, because I'm a fast reader and I'm picky about animation.
Canis (pic related) is a really good BL manga. It has a really cool art style in my opinion. Stop reading when the story about the two leads ends though, because it gets weird and meandering after that. It's my all-time favorite BL manga.
Koimonogatari is a pretty similar manga to Doukyuusei- just a slice-of-life about the characters falling in love and coming out. Probably not what you're looking for, but I figured I'd mention it.
Shimanami Tasogare is really amazing, but it's not BL, it's just the story of one kid coming out. There's only an implied romance at the very end for the MC.
Yami no Matsuei isn't technically BL, but it might as well be. It's one of those situations where the characters' interactions are obviously romantic, they just won't call each other a couple lol. I personally like the anime better than the manga, but obviously the manga goes on longer and is good in its own right. If you like Yu Yu Hakusho, you'll like Yami no Matsuei- very similar tonally imo.
If you like retro stuff and don't mind something that's really bizarre and sexual, Ai no Kusabe (the 1992 OVAs) are cool. They have a really nice art style.
The Tokyo Babylon OVAs are nice too as far as retro BL goes. The story is continued in the mangas, but it does get sad. It's got a little bit of the seme-uke stuff visually, but it's written well enough that I was willing to overlook it.
Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!! has an absolutely adorable retro-inspired art style. It's cutesy and slice-of-lifey, which might not be your thing. The main character is kind of awkward. He reminds me a lot of Tsukimi from Kuragehime.

>shit load of BL manga are easily available in bookstores that specialize in manga, the Ikebukuro Animate has an entire floor full of it and shojo manga
>planned on staying for a year and would like to come back to my country with books I'm gonna buy, which could be expensive by itself
>my Japanese isn't perfect but I can read manga and simple texts just fine if I occasionally look up some kanji
>a lot of BL manga are also published in my country and while it's more comfortable reading them in my first language books in general are much more expensive, sometimes even if bought second hand
>but keeping up with releases in my country would mean that I'd have to wait until I'm back, and not everything is guaranteed to be translated anyway
>but apparently some BL manga are uncensored in my country (I think that's at least the case for boku no omawari-san according to the mangaka's twitter? not sure anymore)

Something that’s been bugging me
How come BL has managed to become a financially viable niche in Asia, but in the West the closest equivalent is unpaid m/m fan works?

So…there's not REALLY sexual identity crises or angsty coming out (which is what you always get in Western media). You'd get backlash if you chose to run off with a partner instead of get married and have a family, but in that case it's not a denial of 'who you are', it's enforcing a familial/societal duty.
sage because I'm not sure I answered your question lol. Damn anon, this is really interesting and I think I might actually go and read more about homosexuality and the history of men who have sex with men in Japan.

triggered at the thought of having gay options, back when P5 was coming out and people were discussing the possibility of a gay romance option (due to Yosuke in P4 apparently intended to be one but removed) and there were hordes of fanboys throwing a tantrum about how "they don't have anything against gay people but the MC should be straight, fuck your forced diversity pushing!!!!". God it's not like they would dress the MC up in rainbow gear to stick it to the ~straighties~, having a normal, optional romance option that just happens to be gay is all I'm asking for. How come women have no problem romancing girls in games but when men
have the option to, not even forced to, romance guy characters it's suddenly inexcusable and wrong?
Fuck man, I'm so disappointed. Akechi was the one with the most interesting back story, a ton of depth and we don't even get to touch that detective prince ass. At least the game making you actually hang out with him instead of tying the confidant level to the story progression was nice.

I know this is beside the point you're making, but…honestly…I would have even been thrilled with a hidden gay option where if you picked the correct dialogue, you'd eventually get the romance, but otherwise the confidant would stay platonic. (And they apparently were cool with making Yusuke's confidant relatively homoerotic, anyway…??)
Actually, it'd be cool if all date-able characters were platonic by default when increasing their confidant, and the romance flag is only activated if you choose 'flirty' actions. That way, no one has to to sit through any ships they don't care about.

Yosuke's hidden lines in P4 are interesting. No one really knows what the lines were for, even if they claim they do - I haven't found concrete evidence that Yosuke was/wasn't going to be dateable. (Maybe someone should ask the VA who recorded the lines?) A lot of people speculate that he had been a dateable character because of all the subtext in the game between him and Yu/MC. If it turned out that he was supposed to be a love interest, then Yosuke's in-game behavior makes a lot more sense. God, I wish there was more P4 meta out there.

In all honestly even without my fujo bias playing the game I was the most interested in the chemistry he and the MC had because of how polar opposites they are due to
Akira/Ren overcoming his shortcomings and coping with being fucked over by adults while Akechi is bitter about being left alone to survive in a world where he's constantly abused and taken advantage of by grownups. The MC was literally his only link to happiness, unlike the other confidants who were connected to at least someone else in their lives. Back then nobody cared because the series wasn't as based on attracting waifufags as it is now. It's a shame because P5 was an amazing game story- and gameplay wise so the way it occasionally plays into the waifufag pockets is distracting and annoying. Like did Kawakami really have to wear that fucking maid outfit?
Like another anon said above they clearly had no trouble making Yusuke have gay undertones and the game even baits you with the swan boat confidant scene so why the fuck would they not make the boys dateable. To be honest even though I'm team Akechi at times Ryuji's and the MC's relationship seemed like it was much intimate than with any of the girl characters. The problem is that 99% of the time, we're stuck choosing between shitty canon BL that exists solely for the romance storyline, and a non canon couple from a high quality series that has great writing and chemistry but don't get together. But how many examples do we have of male main characters in a great series that just happen to get together eventually, despite not being BL genre? If there was a truly beloved non canon couple that got together, fujos would be happy. Maybe it wouldn't work for the sort of series that has a tonne of conflicting ships, but a lot have a juggernaut main ship that wouldn't piss anyone off.
All my fujo heart really wants is the couples that I enjoy by virtue of their characterization and relationship, just being written to end up together like any normal straight couple.

In Japan SMT4 Apocalypse got released the same year as in P5 and I remember that 1) fujo were already playing P5 anyway and 2) many of them were playing SMT4 Apocalypse and losing their shit (in a good way) at the potential gay mpreg gay endings
if you choose to follow Dagda he makes you a god and lets you revive one of your allies as your devoted "goddess" to rule over the world and that applies to your male allies as well. Meanwhile the male Persona audience is made of total nerds who know about fujoshi and know where to expect fujo fanservice even if they don't care or like it, and normies who could potentially be put off by it and think it's a gay dating sim. Strangely enough I think the guys obsessing over waifus are otaku AND normies in an equal number, nerds are into it and normies pretending to be JRPGs experts are vocal in a "look I'm a nerd too!!!1!" way.

yass queen slay the straights bones westshit always throws at is audience, I'm here to see gay stuff normalized. I've seen a lot of mangas during the recent years that include pretty obvious gay couples in series that are not about them but I'd just want to see them become confirmed canon for once. Japan doesn't have the same sort of deep-rooted homophobic history as the west has as the current stance was actually hammered in by western imperialists 100 years ago so they still have preserved this tolerance for same sex couples to be extremely intimate just as long as they don't say they love each other from feudal times.
>>85998>normies who could potentially be put off by it and think it's a gay dating simIt fucking kills me though to think that any time any anime, manga or weeb game has

>>86005>it's immediately branded as "for gays" in the westYeah, at least in the US but since Persona was always only translated in English and just sold as is in Europe, and only Europeans that are already familiar with the US knew about it for a while. That's just how marketing works there I guess, so now even when something isn't marketed that way people will assume it actually is out of habit.
But really, as much as Western and Japanese nerds complain about "rreeeee fujoshit get out, not everything is gay reee" they usually don't care THAT much and I even met a bunch of guys who act like this online who actually are pretty happy to meet other nerds irl (in cons or else where) even if they're fujoshi as long as nobody involved isn't a total sperg. But in Persona's case it seems to be THE money maker for ATLUS since they nearly went bankrupt not long ago before being bought by SEGA, which is why they made so many P4 spinoffs so they can't really be too experimental with the series anymore, meanwhile SMT and its other spinoffs are successful in Japan no matter what they do but more niche in the West so they've got nothing to lose so far. The fujoshi who like JRPGs already play games from the entire franchise and are pandered to as a result of being loyal, supportive fans, male nerds either don't care or are ok with fujo fanservice, or at worse make constant jokes about Yamato wanting to fuck Bunny all day everyday. But normies who are a potential new target demographic for Persona thanks to its new success won't give a shit about megaten as a whole so I wouldn't be surprised if Atlus gives us more weird gay scenes (as well as more innovations in terms of gameplay in general) like in SMT4A instead. And keep inmind that said male normies are on the same level of "I'm a gamer guurl" and rely on sites like Kotaku to get news on the series so I'm sure many think it's too gay (so they wont buy games) or not lgbTTTTQQQ enough (so they won't buy it either), or too
problematic in general (same deal)
Now I wonder what will happen to the future of Persona since the current team wants to move on to other projects within Atlus and a new team as already been designated to work on the series. Maybe they'll take more risks (in general I mean)? They're the same developers that made Catherine Fullbody
have a gay route so who knows. And I wish I had some knowledge about the Japanese fandom, I can just guess that kinda older fujoshi like megaten a lot since the beginning but that's it.

It's always the western dudebros who start reeing about muh SJW shills forcing degeneracy or the other extreme crying about fetishization/bad representation. >>86842>Japanese game studios are on such a strange kick to try and appeal to western audiencesI don't think it's so strange, I think mobile games are way more popular in Japan so developers have to compete against them and they're starting to see Western fans as a reliable market because mobile games don't have the same impact over here.
Bbut seriously, Japanese fans may be total spergs but they're better at minding their business than Western fans who pirate games or don't even play them and won't stop complaining about potential gay shit in games. For P4 I'm sure the reason why Yosuke wasn't a gay option after all is because they developed and released P4 super fast, but then they added even more hints in spinoffs/sequels and in P4G, where Yosuke and the MC can straight up act like a cute young married couple but they still can't date. I'm sure the reason why he insisted on Maya/Tatsuya in P2 Eternal Punishment is because he's obsessed with love triangles though, dude just HAD to put the ridiculous Serph/Sera/Heat love triangle in DDS when it was never a thing in the original story. >>84899 here, there's been no official confirmation that Yosuke's dummied out lines (see video) were indeed part of a romance route. It's
valid speculation because of what made it into the final game (all of Yosuke's gay sperging, plus his social links have the structure and pacing of a romance route…it's pretty egregious), but the whole "THEY TOOK OUT YOSUKE'S GAY OPTION" is repeated as though it were indisputable fact. I'm like this close to tweeting Yuri Lowenthal to see if he remembers what these lines were for.
Also, I've never found Showtaro Morikubo's version of these lines aside from the single "ore, omae ga suki da" that was in some random YT video about P4, I'd be interested to hear them and whether they're more explicitly romantic than the English dub.

No idea where I could find them again though, sorry. At this point it's not officially confirmed but it's like 99.99999999999% probable that Yosuke was meant to be a love interest. His social link is kinda similar to Naoto's in that if you don't choose very specific options you can't unlock a "scene" that will indicate you can date the character so you're automatically friendzoned by the character at rank 10. Like, if you want to hug Yosuke and let him cry in your arms you have to choose a specific option in his previous rank, and with Naoto she always friendzoned me because I never choose the flirty options.
>>87051>Yosuke somehow ends up looking gayer than Kanji, whose story is literally about being insecure in his masculinity and terrified that he's gayI'm sure that was the whole point of all these scenes, they even added some in Golden, but it's like they set up the joke and forgot to add the punchline. Weird as fuck, especially when you get optional dialogues like in the date café scene where you have Kanji saying that Yosuke gave him the whole "IT'S OK TO BE GAY YOU'RE STILL MY BRO EVEN IF YOU SUCK DICKS" speech off-screen and Yosuke starts to spreg out again even if that scenes is after we find out Naoto is a girl.

I'm going to poke around on the Japanese internet to see if I can find Morikubo's lines, or at least some commentary on Yosuke's route that tells us something that the English-speaking Persona fandom doesn't already know. Good point about the "you idiot, hugging is for girls" scene - not only do you have to "unlock" it, but hugging is often what starts the dating route for the romanceable female characters…one of those things that's a lot more obvious in Japanese/lost in translation because hugging is so platonic here, lol.
The difference in Lowenthal vs. Morikubo's delivery, too…man…the "I like you, don't go" is so heartbreaking, you can tell that Yosuke is softly opening his heart to Yu. Whereas the Japanese line really has that hesitant guarded vibe.
That "what the HELL are you two doing?" plus the freakin bathhouse music playing cracks me up every single time. This fucking game I swear

I saw people raving about The Untamed for months and always thought no, I'm not gonna watch it and now I decided to give it a try and it's the best thing I've ever seen. It's so addictive, I finished it within just a couple of days, nearly every single episode made me cry lol
Not only are the actors handsome and the costumes/scenery beautiful, the story line is very good too, all characters are well thought out, you even feel for the villains. I always hate when yaoi/bl portrays female characters as annoying and inferior, but that's absolutely not the case here, they're all strong and likeable.
They perfectly managed to work around the China's censorship, also thanks to the great acting, it doesn't feel like there's something missing at all, if anything their love seems even deeper that way as if they were outright kissing. I also always hate when the uke is some tiny, weak damsel in distress while the seme is muscular and overconfident but here the guy who has the "girlier" personality is also loud, outgoing and probably the strongest and bravest character, while the other is elegant and silently supportive of him. Highly recommend.
I wish there were more good chinese bl dramas/mangas because I like the visuals so much, I know that Hua Hua You Long is drawn in a similar style but the story is just gross.

BL doesn't exist as representation for either gay men or women, it's literally just self indulgent romance/porn material for women to enjoy. I can't imagine begrudging anyone that - we spend our whole lives being told we need to be pretty, young, slim and hairless to be worthy of getting fucked but god forbid girls project that expectation onto men in harmless niche manga.

I found this webcomic a few days ago and I digest it in a matter of hours, which it's something very strange to happen,
the comic has the basic premise of a bad porn movie (the main protagonist can see and feel the sexual fantasies of the other protagonist inside his head) but that's only the beginning, after that you can how the relationship of the two protagonist
evolve to try to be better and healthier with each other, and surprisingly touches real problems about the struggling to express feelings correctly inside a relationship and abandonment issues as adults, also sprinkle some of LGTB real-life environments and how it affects realistically the relationship between families.
Idk if it's because I haven't read any yaoi related in a long time but I found it as something really entertaining to read, as I mentioned the basic premise it's pretty much of a porn movie and there's a lot of smut (most of it it's anatomically well-drawn, I even save some samples as references for my art lol) but have a lot of jokes due to that situation, it made me chuckle a good amount of times.

You "wouldn't care" seeing hetero women enjoy bara - but you have a problem with them liking stuff with cute boys, because…?
It absolutely does make sense for straight girls to enjoy yaoi
because all other media already tries pushing bara type men onto them 24/7. As soon as girls hit their teen years everybody tells them that so and so isn't a "real" man, stop gushing over young pop stars, that's weird and embarrassing, guys like George Clooney, 40+ macho males with dad bods and beards are ackshually the hottest! Just because somebody is somewhat young, slim and nicely groomed, doesn't mean that he's a "trap" or resembles girls and that there's something wrong with the women who are attracted to this. Most girls and women put in an effort into their looks, dreaming of somebody who does so too, plus is kind/romantic/exciting is just natural, and because dudes like this are difficult to find irl (or in mainstream media) some gravitate to yaoi.
People getting so riled up about something to harmless as yaoi/fujos (have their ever been crimes commited in the name of them? no lol) just proves that men/handmaidens have a problem with girls/women having their own taste and enjoying things not made by or for them.

No offense to Yaoi fans. I'm really sorry, everything else you said was fine, but with all due respect, that original line was total bullshit. I've never come across a fellow lesbian weeb that dislikes Yuri. It might be true of the lesbian porn industry in the west, but it's not the exact same way with Yuri. The genre is more or less split between the sexes, with females having a noticeable edge when it comes to authorship. I've come across way more female authors than male ones. That is one of the reasons why there's no "alternative" Yuri genre that is officially made by and for lesbians exclusively the same way the Bara genre distinguished itself from Yaoi as something made by actual gay men for other gay men.
Maybe when it comes to ecchi/hentai illustrations/doujinshi of Yuri, there might be more male than female involvement, but that's most likely because there are overwhelmingly more male hentai artists than female ones. As for the fans, I'm not exactly sure, but I feel like it's probably split more equally on that front. But to say that Yuri is made by and for straight dudes is just straight-up bullcrap.
Also, just because it's made by a hetero guy doesn't mean it's devilish and devoid of any value. Some works I've seen by males are adorable and wholesome af that you'd think a woman wrote them. The same way some Yaoi porn is so hardcore you'd think a man wrote them. BOTH women AND men aren't a singularity that enjoy the same things.

>>97940I used to be like you. Basically, I just liked skinny boys with pretty faces and hair, and I absolutely hated macho men with big bodies and boring ugly looks/fashion. But over time, I noticed that my taste got more and more flamboyant and my repulsion towards masculine traits has grown more and more to the point that my ideal type of husbando has basically become a skinny pretty girl with a flat-chest. It was confusing, but like you said, it wasn't completely sexual for me in the first place, but more like aesthetic. So I didn't mind. And let me tell you, it was SO freaking liberating and it made me realize that I like girls more. With a female character, you can have any sort of pretty design that you want. Before, I used to feel a little uncomfortable liking male characters with make-up or very long hair and I tried to stay away from crossdressers, but with females, none of that mattered. A female character sporting short hair and/or wearing boyish clothes can be just as pretty and hot. Girls generally look good in all kinds of clothing, as opposed to guys not looking all that great in more feminine clothes. Same goes for personality. Even if a girl doesn't act that feminine, it's just as appealing.
Anyway, I think you might be bisexual. Even tho I identify as a lesbian now, I think I do kinda have bisexual tendencies since I still find some boys pretty, but thinking of them sexually doesn't do it for me at all.

>>97973>I've never come across a fellow lesbian weeb that dislikes YuriA
lot of lesbians dislike yuri, myself included. There's even a saying between fujos that the only reason Yuri doesn't get called out as "fetishizing lesbians" like BL is is because it has a male-dominated audience. I dislike it because almost all of it that I've tried to read has been cute schoolgirls groping each other and the story setting's based on the Japanese "kouhai falling in love with her senpai" style of traditional puppy love setting that irks me. Something like Yuru Yuri and pretty much anything done by Milk Morinaga perfectly describes the type of lesbian series I absolutely don't want to see. To be perfectly honest the only people I know that actually read yuri are men, male trannies and for whatever reason, straight women. The lesbians I know prefer lesbian media that usually crosses over to romantic josei and slice of life material with GL tones which counts as more like actual LGB stories than what most people call "yuri".
Even if yuri
was made by dominantly female authors it's still appropriated by mostly male readers and I don't like that - a big part of the appeal of BL is dominated by an almost exclusively female (with some well-behaved gay men sprinkled in) fanbase. I feel safe there and know nobody's going to start creeping on me for my sexuality. There's a big porn-induced trend of men trying to talk lesbians into some horny threeway fantasy, but definitely not cock-thirsting fujos trying to get into a gay couple's bedroom no matter what 2008 era yaoi fangirl stereotype people have in their minds.
Honestly, I don't know why people reappear in this thread to ree about some fujo disliking yuri and how nasty "yaoi" is. It's the fujo containment thread. Pic related, it's the mentioned Milk Morinaga's spergout over Utena which made it even harder for me to believe she's actually a girl and not some mouthbreathing scrote being nasty.

As a petty nitpick Kabi Nagata doesn't even count as a "yuri mangaka" as her only related work is an autobiographical manga regarding her sexual awakening as a lesbian and even she is a fujoshi as admitted in the book. In my eyes calling "My lesbian experience with loneliness" just "yuri" is somewhat insulting to the nature of its narrative.
I mean if someone likes the yuri genre then be my guest, it doesn't really bother me, but trying to shame fujos for not liking it is absurd.

Could someone who's deeper in the discourse bullshit tell me why people are claiming it's the evil radfems who are driving the "only cute wholesome coffeeshop AUs no abuse or age differences uwu" purity mindset? From what I've seen it's mostly teenage they/them libfems with K-pop avatars bitching about le fetishizer fujos and shit. I've seen this happen numerous times now, people outright blaiming it's a TERF/Radfem discourse and it fucking blows my mind trying to figure out how they came to this conclusion. What the fuck. Where in the radfem guidebook does it say "you shall encourage women to repress their sexuality and stop exploring possibilities in female created erotica"?

I'm sure they're using terfs as a scapegoat as opposed to straight guys or another group because some normal fujoshi sometimes politely complain about shitty fanfics where one of the guys is suddenly a kawaii soft transboi uwu and they confused them with the teenage fakebois. It's always the straight men who do their best to curb gay characters and couples. Literally someone in the anime critical thread linked a thorough study about how loli porn as a genre was birthed because horny male nerds were so mad over a doujinshi event's BL section growing in demand that they wanted to come up with something of their own to take the market back. They were so rustled over women having something to themselves that wasn't about worshiping their dicks that they started drawing literal graphic loli porn to grow the male audience back. But no. Instead they point their fingers at other women because they know taking on men would mean endless harassment and dismissal. It's both sad and enraging at the same time.

I'm a fujo too and I also hate censorship but those comments are so disgusting. These people (sadly likely mostly girls themselves) are enraged in the name of homophobia and protecting their precious boys while freely spouting sexist shit.
A woman portraying a character doesn't suddenly make it plain and uninteresting, she would still have the same character traits as the dude in the novel. The reason you find girls bitchy and straight relationships icky is not the fault of the women, but bad writing.
Be angry at the chinese governemt and not at some imaginary girl maybe or maybe not playing a role…
Are all of them "gay" fakebois or do they also think of themselves as annoying, uncharming and unable of ever a deep non-superficial relationship?
Crazy fans are really ruining it, all the female actresses partnered with the untamed actors were also suffering badly because of them.

It's utterly baffling to see the people first get it right by saying BL offers (especially gay/bisexual) women the rare chance to explore sexual and romantic fiction in a space where they don't have to feel threatened due to their gender but then turn around and claim antis are using the radfem narrative. It's literally like a /pol/fag sensibly explaining the nuances how incels turn to extreme ideologies and then just ending it with "however it was the jews all along" in order to keep their clansmen happy.
>>99435Basically this. Most straight romcoms are "fetishizing heterosexual relationships" by having the woman fall for some
abusive underdog because they find his incompetence and antisocial personality ~charming~. Hell most shoujo mangas and otome games have a rapey as hell plot, I remember that one vampire otome VN in which the guys were sexually and mentally abusing the main character to no end. It's just fiction, fiction is meant to explore ideas that would never work in real life. That's why it's fiction. But I also noticed that it seems to be trendy nowadays that if their positions are canon, many fans like to say that they think that actually the other way around is real, like "actually [insert seme name] has big bottom energy" or posts like that.
In cases like
>>99578 I agree, who tops or bottoms absolutely shouldn't depend on their height or size, this comes across as "he's smaller, therefore he's more like a woman and must like getting dicked". I honestly think I've become too pink-pilled (or too old?) to enjoy yaoi anymore… The portrayal of most female side characters is atrocious and the way 90% of fujos hate on normal female characters is disgusting. No idea how adult female readers can just tolerate or ignore this. Just because the focus in a story is on a straight couple or on a female main character doesn't mean that male side characters are super annoying or evil out of jealousy either. So why is it that way in media made by women catering to women? Yaoi is supposed to be enjoyable for us, watching a couple of cute guys, and not having to deal with sexism lurking around every corner.
But women in straight romances aren't treated any better either and media with a strong female lead is super rare too or still ends with her getting together with a man…

Has anyone here watched the Chinese webseries “Addicted”? I watched it under the assumption that it would be good since it’s so highly rated, but it’s the most disgusting live-action drama I’ve seen. the behavior from one of the male leads towards the other is deplorable—the majority of the kissing scenes are him forcing himself on the other ML. He also rapes him and kidnaps him, justifying his actions with statements similar to, “You seduced me, you knew I treated you differently” and “You’re to blame.” I had hope at the start because it started out kind of cute but then got absolutely fucked up around episode 11, and then taken off air after 15 eps by the Chinese government. I think stories about
abusive relationships can be done well and I thought if the show went on longer then maybe the writers would have gotten the chance to get that message across, but even if they were to do that, no doubt there’d be delusional shippers who ship them anyways. The stigma of delusional shippers has also ruined well-written stories like Killing Stalking (imo, I know this is controversial). I really liked the whirlwind of a plot that Killing Stalking had and found it to be eerily accurate as someone who grew up in an
abusive household and was in an
abusive relationship. But if you even mention that you liked the story, people assume you’re a shipper or an Oh Sangwoo fangirl (side note: wtf?) because of how vocal those types are.
I wish the
abusive dynamics in BL/yaoi would be done away with altogether because clearly a number of individuals are incapable of appreciating a story and are instead drawn to romanticizing any BL pairing possible, especially those that are
abusive.
>>101874I’ve been pink pilled for a while and understand what you mean. While quite a bit of BL media’s female characters are the bitchy ex girlfriend, annoying sister, or clingy girl whose crush on a male lead is unrequited, if this really bothers you, there are some BLs where female characters are negligible or are very well written.
I saw The Untamed mentioned here and binged it (still have the last 5 eps left, I don’t want it to be over yet), and the female characters are honestly so lovable and well written. Wen Qing is probably my favorite character of the show. I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it. Although it wasn’t mentioned here, I do need to say that the special effects, the SFX makeup, and some of the acting (Xue Yang) can be poorly done/laughable at times. If I think of more, I’ll reply separately to you; most of the BLs I’ve read/watched have little to no female characters and a bunch of male character pairings (…because that’s totally realistic).

I watched the Untamed, absolutely loved it and therefore also read the original author's novels (she has 3) but they're a mess… In the live action they massively extented the screentime for female characters and also modernized their personalities a lot, e.g. the sister was originally extremely demure, seemingly no free will of her own, she didn't go to study with them either, just waited at home to one day get married (and for some reason she was always called ugly?). And if a female character is a bit stronger, they're either crazy or evil or a slut, always only acting out of jealousy. Not sure what's the author's problem, she's supposedly a very young woman herself. The sex scenes are also disgusting
always screaming and bleeding a lot, but he actually loves it guys, that's just his kink!… I really liked how physically and mentally "equal" the main couple and all the other characters in the live action are but in the book that's definitely not the case, it's much more like your stereotypical old (and not really good) yaoi.

Men don't get cancelled or harassed for fetishising lesbians, despite the fact that a huge chunk of them do it. They'd rather defend the poor defenseless men from the evil female geeks. And we all know why fakebois love harassing fujoshis– they're jealous of women who don't feel the need to chop their tits off to "justify" or "earn" their interest in gay porn.

>>102230Stop accusing people of hating fujoshis and yaoi, nobody would care enough to come here and fight with you if they weren't fujos themselves. OP explicitly states that this thread is for discussing yaoi and BL, posting things other than porn is allowed, many of us are into it for the cute romantic story shit and not only for your pov rape gangbang (that is stuff you could find on any western porn site as well).
Anyway, does anybody know works with a similar art style like this?

Lmao gangrape-chan, sperging about your precious porn getting deleted in ot, m and meta…
Maybe it's because they were gifs? So far I only saw erotic pics (which is kind of a bit less "extreme") and those were always considered alright.

Is mindfuck something that gets touched in official mangas? I know its a whole genre in vn, doujinshis and fan fics but I cant really recall if ive seen that in mangas/animes, if anyone has any rec im all ears.

>>102406That's a good question actually. I have no idea why the male gay community is obsessed with muscles and big bears but I guess it just has to do with the fact that making them overly male brings the point home when the twinky boys portrayed more often in BL are too woman-like.
>>102408What kind of mindfuck are you looking for?
No. 102418
>>102411It's not just the Japanese though, many in the western gay community likes beefy men in their porn as well. Twinks don't seem to be that popular in the gay community to begin with and I guess they're more favored by bisexual chasers who aren't just gay enough to like really masculine men. I could be generalizing because I'm just basing my observation on my interaction with gay guys.
>>102410I'm trying to think about the latest English releases off the top of my head, "Mitto mo nai koi" as the top breaking the bottom, Buranran had "Ishiki Takai-kei Insei Shokushu Shidou Ochiyuku Pride" and "Innocent" by Iimo were probably what you're looking for but they've only had first chapters translated so far. I think mind break is more popular in smut doujinshis and VN bad ends because it doesn't hold that well over a full story line but I believe Harada's mangas have it as a reoccurring story line. If you want dark stuff in general Harada's your guy kek, especially because the mangas have a stable fanbase that's eager to scanlate them. I'm actually learning Japanese just so I can read my gay mangas without having to wait for some group to pick them up.

So many novel adaptations seem to be filmed lately, hopefully we're lucky and some of them turn out good (and as uncensored as possible lol)

>>104380My expectations were low and were met. Overall is like NTY, not good, not bad, with wasted potential, but enjoyable. Only 2 guys and only 1 is the focus in the sex scenes, what a waste. There could have been a gore route, and more choices overall (kink poor for a porn game). It was short and a bit repetitive, with the most dialogue being on the way to ending F.
I liked the characters (design and what little personality they had) and liked the writing. It managed to be unsettling and depressing, but horny at the same time. The F ending was perfect for me, even if bittersweet; A ending was the worst. The scat scene wasn't as bad as I imagined.

>>104858Can any anons answer my question in regards to the CCP's censorship of BL? I specifically want to know how the Untamed was even released and adapted without the author being sent to one of those re-education camps. Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan are such a cute couple, oh lord.
Currently watching HIStory 3: Crossing the Line and the main couple is precious. I'm not a fan of small ukes but the uke is adorable. For the nasties in here, there was even a decent sex scene in one of the earlier episodes.
On another note, I just finished TharnType and was really thrown off by the writing in its few last episodes with cameos of BL characters from other random shows.
Another pet peeve of mine: if there's something I can't stand in BL it's when somehow we're supposed to believe that in the fictional universe every male character just happens to be gay. It becomes obvious when there's more than 2 gay couples that the author is just forcing couples for fanservice points. For that reason I'm liking Taiwanese BL shows more than Thai BLs.

>>104975i find tharntype bad to be honest. but i have to continue on watching for the sake of my friend who's obsessed with the show. the only character i really like there is techno.
the cameos of other bl characters is there (?) cause they all reside in one universe, also meaning they were based on the novels of one author. though i don't see the point of shoving all of them in one or two epi and hope every viewer can understand the references.

>>105013ugh thank you. The entire freakin 'n-no, i'm not gay. I just have feelings for this other dude' is exhausting, especially in what is supposed to be a chinese fantasy. I would love a refreshing take on gay couples where people are just gay the same way people are straight and it isnt an annoying dance.
>>104975They did still censor a lot of Untamed being adapted onto tv. I think the main reason it was even allowed to be aired was because the fandom is huge and vocal. (Xiao Z's fans are absolutely insufferable, ) but they did pick a good cast imo. I think because there are a lot of fujos in China and gay shit is so censored there, they were like fuck it. There is still not real romance, but the canon gay is there. Just… hidden.

Recently found Ookami e no Yomeiri and I love rereading it. Simple story, and the art is really cute, but be warned that there’s a beastiality scene in it
tho that may or may not be how I found it in the first place lolhttps://myreadingmanga.info/inui-hana-ookami-he-no-yomeiri-eng/ No. 105126
>>105013I‘m totally supportive of the characters realizing/accepting their feelings quicker. But I just find it to be really really unrealistic if every male character is in a gay pairing. I’m not saying that gay people are a on in a million rarity, but typically not every male you’re acquainted with is gay. I especially can’t with the ‘coincidence’ of them being paired off with their ‘one true love’ at the same exact time. I‘m kind of a writing snob when it comes to tv and movies to begin with though, so if this doesn’t bother you then you’re better off.
>>104991Is there any Thai BL recs that aren’t as poorly written? I’m thinking of watching 2gether but that’s mostly bc I find one of the male leads to be really hot.
