Why does Riot even waste the time of it's artists to come up with interesting ideas, when they will just choose the safest and most boring route anyway? It makes me mad how they got such a cool concept and turned it into Ahri 2.0

For anyone curious as to why >>225363 looks the way it does; the original concept art for N is more normal, just the colors being different than the current design, but the picture posted is of him angry… or as it was explained in an article translated by Google Translate - "This is the image visual of “Angry N”. I agree. Despite the fandom being annoying, I love seeing the old concept art, and usually enjoy the style too. I know it isn’t for everyone but it’s certainly recognizable. That Nekomaru one is so funny in comparison to what he became.

Afaik he did it all in his own, personal art style which is why it's the way it is. Check out https://dengekionline.com/elem/000/000/518/518926/index-2.html and you will see that everything is a completely different art style than the game, but N's other 2 concept arts don't look creepy.
Here's one of them, it reminds me of his current design, actually!

Hades (from Hercules) concept art by Gerald Scarfe, the cartoonist that was also the visual designer in Pink Floyd's The Wall. I imagine this design was a very early one.

Concept art for the unaired ATLA pilot, so originally Toph was supposed to be a masculine adult man and an Earth nation soldier. Zuko appeared to have a named female lieutenant and the design of the Fire nation soldiers are obviously different.

Here's the full pilot and it's really interesting, although most of the elements are similar, they are also slightly different. Katara's name is Kya, Aang is way more childish(both acting like a little kid and he even looks more childish with softer features), Sokka seems way more arrogant and insulting in a mean way, both Katara and Sokka refer to Aang as Kid, and Zuko is also just a straight-up villain with no depth and no Uncle Iroh either.
