For the first time in human history, the young have become a model of emulation for the older population, rather than the other way around.

Where does this stem from? Why does gen z equate any age above 18 as being elderly? Why are 19 year olds getting botox?

I looked stupidly young for years and tbh I just cringed inside every time someone made a big unnecessary fuss over the discrepancy between how old I looked and how old I was. The gap is starting to close for me now and I'm relieved to escape the element of condescension that often came with people not being able to see age or experience on your face.

I guess that's the flipside to girls who're worried about wrinkles at like 19.

People have such weird ideas about what 20, 30, ect. looks like.

I wish that were me… I still look young for my age apparently despite being 28 now. I'm working with people who treat me as a n equal for once, and we're all more or less in the same age range, but before I got that job I was always treated like some kind of retard or baby, and when the topic of age came up (idk for like birthdays or something) people would be really shocked that I wasn't barely out of high school anymore. I've had guys my age hit on me because they thought I was still in high school or barely out of high school and they fled everytime I corrected them, I feel like I'm basically undateable because I only attract these weirdos. All of this because of a retarded medical condition, but on top of that everyone in my family looks younger than they are except one person. I think that's why I love being on the internet because I can't be negatively judged on my looks.

I got mistaken for a teenage despite being tall for a good half of my 20s and hated the condescending nature of it because I wanted to be tough and mature, but then as soon as I got my first ma'am I suddenly wanted to go back to it kek. My face has always been somewhat haggard with nasolabial folds and eye bags so I was shocked that I was seen as young, but the treatment of aging definitely makes me more aware of my flaws. Was never particularly pretty so I do admit I want to keep chasing youth. Ugh.

i think this in particular is funny (sad, mostly). people have this idea that 25 year old women look like 37 year olds, that 30 year olds look like 48 year olds, etc. it's so bizarre.

Do you know what Lolita is about? Kek.

NTA but Lolita is a tale about glorification and sexualization of youth, and where the idea of nymphette originates from I believe. Pedophilia is nothing new but wasn't that one of the first mainstream work openly showing it like this? And nymphette aesthetic has been a thing for years, marketed as the selling appeal of many celebs; looking back we can see in in TATU duo, french singer Alizee (whose most popular song is actually titled Moi…Lolita), in more recent culture Ariana Grande definitely fits the bill as well. Pedophilic preferences are not coming from Nabokov novel but there's no denying it plays the role in the aesthetic/idea mainstream popularity.
