No. 1373108

Origins
>Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31 they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.

We discuss the upcoming Halloween, costumes, pics, stuff and how we plan to celebrate it.

I like playing Helloween's Halloween (album version, not this one) and a couple of covers at max volume every October 31st, it's my own little Halloween tradition. I also wear my dusty cheap witch hat all day.
Maybe I should extend this tradition and watch Halloween specials I like as well, such as the early Treehouse of Horror episodes. Or play spooky video games.

What are some fun things to do no Halloween? I don't have any children coming to my apartment so I can't pass out candy. I got a costume and everything but I just don't want to sit at home in my costume and do nothing. I don't have friends where I live except a boyfriend. I live in a city. Does anyone wear any themed clothing or accessories up throughout October? I wanna find some cute earrings or rings that are fun but aren't cheap plastic trash. Right now I have 2 pins that are spooky but I wanna expand my tasteful accessory assortment. Picrel is one that I have.

This is beautiful!! I'm a huge enamel enthusiast and I love getting my creepy (and sometimes sexy) enamels from Strike Gently Co. I also love collecting any from bands I listen to a lot that also border on spooky or occult looking. I just came back from a trip to Cali and there was this knife specialty shop out there that sold enamels of knives that seemed cool (and I hope it comes off as unhinged and intimidating kek)

For accessories like rings you might do well with specialty boutiques that make abnormal rings and use found items or uncut rocks. I have one that's local to me and it's quite the price hike but worth it in my eyes since I believe in spending good money for artist. I guess it all depends on your taste and how other worldly you wanna go. Bone Dust Tower is a Canadian artist that sells rustic jewelry that gives off witchy vibes while using found stuff. Her website is just her name + .com at the end of it. Give a look if any of this interests you! Happy spooky season!!

bars are pretty good on halloween just don't get too drunk. if you're in a city there will be other people in costume. if you're in a less populated area you might not find a lot of costumed bar patrons but you will be festive and that's fun too for all the nice drunk people.

Haloweenonnies, I need your help - what goes on a Halloween party playlist? I listen to a lot of weird shit, my friends don't, and I'm having them over for a Halloween-themed dinner party with movies. I'm considering a mix of old/throwback surf rock for those Scooby Doo vibes and some vintage 1940's jazz, but I don't know if that's too weird.

No. 1384599

>>1384478
If you're considering 1940's tunes, what about a few vintage Halloween songs? There are a bunch of music compilations on YouTube to help you find some popular ones. I don't think throwback rock or old jazz is weird at all, but playing a few songs with Halloween-ish themes would really bump up the holiday flair, like "I Put a Spell On You" by Nina Simone or "Witchcraft" by Frank Sinatra.

Any nonnies carved pumpkins this year? I'm a bit sad no body wanted to do it with me this year, I might just pick up a pumpkin myself. I really just like the seeds and the smell of pumpkin guts is really good to me kek. I might even just cook with it afterward, I hate leaving out the jack o lantern and having it rot outside. Finn here as well, I like halloween probably more than most of my countrymen but this is why I don't care for trick or treating - we have our own 'going around the neighborhood while dressed up and collecting candy' tradition, we don't need another one (or a replacement one)

In my country we have the similar thing before Easter however the children sing at shops and whatnot for sweets. Halloween like ten years ago was mostly an American thing or an excuse for a party, while it has gained traction it is luckily mostly contained to the capital region. I just see this as a waste really and hate that Halloween is starting to seep into our own tradition.
