I just finished watching this and I liked it a lot but it never felt like it ever built up enough momentum to justify the last episode and (spoilers) but I don't understand the importance of the main character's sexual assault, it was heavily implied and then confronted in one throw away back and forth dialog and never mentioned again. I also don't get all the flashbacks to her teenage years which only served to explain the death of one character but kept being thrown in your face, nor do I get the importance of the detective character who was only really in everything just to be a macguffin in the last episode and then fuck off forever. Aside from all that stuff I liked it. Has anyone who read the book and can you tell me if it's better than the miniseries?

I read the book years ago, and remember being blown away by it. I was really into dark psychological books at the time and that one really hit for some reason. So did her other one, dark places I think it was called. I liked them both better than gone girl. I'm sitting here with a blanket on my lap and slightly high, and looking at artwork and decor for inspiration for the bare walls of my apartment, when suddenly it hits me: I have Procreate, an apple pencil and I'm "okay" at art. I can just make my own art and print it or have a poster made of it! I can easily "paint" some botanicals or little stylized art of my two cats, or make black-and-white line art or something abstract…the world is at my fingertips!!!
(I also have some pretty cheap acrylic paints and some sheets of canvas, but I've been too shy about "just doing it" and committing to starting on something for some reason. Like it's too final and I'm afraid I'll screw it up kek. At least with digital art I can practice and then get ideas of what to paint)

I went to a spin class with my friend last night. I went in having no idea what to expect and it was so funny but I enjoyed it. I felt extremely ridiculous at first, I have absolutely no rhythm or coordination so I couldnt keep up with all the upper body movements they were doing while pedaling but i still tried. I also did not realize you could change the resistance on the bikes and so mine was on the lowest resistance for most of the class and my legs were spinning at like mach speed while I'm trying to do all the upper body rhythm movements kekkk.
My ass hurts so bad today though. Worse than my legs do. My friend warned me about the seats on the bikes being awful but goddamn…
All that being said I'm kind of excited to try it again on friday, now that I know what i'm getting myself into

How could it be that no matter where we went, the moon always stood and shone above us? This mystery terrified me. Still now I can recall those cold dark drives that I spent gazing out the fogged and blurred backseat window, unable or unwilling to distinguish the boundary of the horizon. My parents were no help then either; as a child it appeared impossible to interrupt the sacred conversations that took place in the front seats of that beat-up blue Dodge Diplomat. The energy crisis, Cambodia, Khomeini; those were the chief topics then that were discussed between them, in hushed and worried tones. Their apprehensions always hung thick in the air of that stuffy smoke-stained car. How could I bother them with my anxieties when they held so much already? I figured they didn't deserve to be given my own. So, I would sit in that back seat staring out and into the blackened sky, the mysterious words of my verbose parents weaving in and out of my attention, captivated completely by my juvenile fears. I've often gone back to those late-night rides, meandering through my own memories. I ask myself again and again, why was I so terrified when the moon followed me? Woke up the other day and felt my lips kinda weird, like when you get anesthesia. Ignored cus maybe I am just imagining things, thought I'd sleep it off and it'd go away, it is how it always goes when something new happens to my body.
But it didn't go away, it's been like 5 days and I noticed when brushing my teeth my face looks slightly asymmetrical, it is not really noticeable if I am not being too expressive which I usually am not but the fact that I can't properly hold water in my mouth while brushing my teeth when that wasn't the case before is making me nervous. Not only my face looks different, it feels like half of it is constrained or weaker somehow but it's so subtle I keep thinking "no, you are imagining things" especially since no one in my family noticed anything. The hell is going on? I feel like I am going mad. I'm about to sound like the most chicken-tender-kids-menu-eating nona ever, but I promise I'm not. But holy shit, eating salads is a fucking chore for me. I don't know if it's because it's a cold food and I prefer hot meals instead? I can literally take the same ingredients I'd throw in a salad, add broth and blend a vegetable soup out of it and I love it. I love vegetables, especially cooked ones. But something about a bowl of salad is always a chore for me, even if it tastes good. I make/order them because it's good for me, but getting through them is a like a necessary chore that "just needs to be done" and I can't wait to get to my cup of soup on the side or whatever. I wish I were one of those ladies that loooooves salads and cold smoothies.
