I’m thinking about my grandparents today, on my dad’s side. I wish I’d gotten to meet my grandpa. I knew my grandma but she still died extremely young. I remember the last time I saw her, her and my dad argued.

Missing my grandma a lot today. The 8th anniversary of her passing happened just a few days ago and recently one of her sons joined her as well. The pain never goes away. I didn't make an altar or get marigolds like I wanted to because I can't even find the strength to get out of bed. Hoping to pick up some pan de muerto before work though.

Not someone I knew personally but I loved One Direction as a child when they first came on the scene, and it’s really insane to me that one of the members is dead already? Especially considering how normal and fine he looked the day he died!

I miss my mom and sister. I have an ofrenda for each, and they're filled with marigolds, mini pumpkins, and candles. I honestly keep my altar up all year long on a shelf, i just decorate it differently this time of year.
I think about my mom and sister every single day, but it gets harder as all the holidays start coming up.

i miss my uncle a lot right now he was my biggest supporter and a major influence on my life. i hope he’s finally at peace.

Missing Nanny (Dad's mom) and Grandpa (Mom's stepdad) tonight. It's been over twenty years and I was pretty young when they passed. Later this week I'm going to sew a housedress and make grits to connect with each of them respectively. Most of my memories of Grandpa were him making grits for breakfast; he made mine with butter and brown sugar, enough to make it a deep amber color. Nanny always had something going on at her house, usually baking (we made so many cookies) or working her sewing machine. She was a real wiz too and would have me work the foot pedal for her! Do you know how skilled you have to be to work around a dumbass six year old sat under the table manning a foot pedal with her hand? Those two were the biggest sweethearts in the family. Grandpa charmed the hell out of everyone he met and Nanny had the sweetest heart and the strongest will of anyone ever. I wish I could share with you nonnies a fraction of the love they had for seemingly everyone.
