What gives your life value/meaning/purpose/ whatever you want to call it, anons? What do you put effort into because you want to, not because you have to? What makes you happy, beyond satisfying basic human needs?

I personally love doing up my house, making and eating tasty vegan foods, and maintaining killer eyebrows. I’d like to do more though - I’m struggling to find new interests! What’s yours?

Right now I've been obsessed with trying to flip clothes on depop/ebay and logic puzzles. I have to do my futoshiki puzzle every day.

>cooking, cleaning, and keeping yourself pretty

I don't wanna be a bitch, but you sound like a baiting bot.

I thought so too. Even if that isn't the case, girly threads like this fit better in /g/…

To stay on topic, I'm really interested in project diva and spiders

not OP but you sound like a cunt. why are stereotypical girly things a problem? i'm into gyaru, pink, cooking and nail art, am i a robot too? i doubt robots even know that girls maintain their eyebrows, they likely think they come arched and ready to go.

I love video games and drawing. Right now I'm learning how to do my make-up properly and how to dress better.
On some days I even do my job because its fun and not because of the money, but these days are rare now.

Lmao I didn’t even spot that. Not a bot, just a bored SAHM who didn’t develop any interests as a teen beyond partying, which obviously doesn’t happen these days. Oh, and when I say “do up my house” I mean re-decorating, not cleaning it haha.

I didn’t think having personal interests was particularly girly, but fair enough.

I’ve started thinking about planning a trip around Europe too. I love being a mom and having a beautiful home, but I want to achieve more than domestic bliss.

I wish I got to party more as a teen lmao

I've been whitewater kayaking for a few years now. I've started slow but have been paddling more often in the last couple of years. Sadly I don't go out as often as I should because I still have a few troubles with anxiety and getting motivated but I'm already miles ahead than I was before I started kayaking.

I have other interests, such as video games, all things horror/mystery, outdoors activities in general (skiing, hiking), but my best days and favorite memories are spent on the river.

tbh all i do nowadays is read, listen to music, and daydream. i'm a louis wain imitator and it makes me feel like shit that i'm uncreative enough to use his art style and subject so i tend not to create art as much even though i'm fairly decent at doing what i do.

Is that yours? I like it a lot. No harm in being inspired by someone, you can always branch out at some later point.

I have too many interests and am all over the place in general so I decided to restrict it to creation-based ones (over consumption-based ones). Now my focus is on writing, world-building, programming, reading and drawing. (Reading is on the consumption side but I kept it because it helps a lot with writing.)

I gave up video games, makeup and beauty, interior design, documentaries about killers, podcasts on internet culture, and fashion through the ages. It pains me but at least I feel like I'm actually doing something with my time now.

Wow, your interests actually all sound exactly like me. I get bored of “consumption-based interests” so fast. Like makeup is cool and you can do amazing stuff with it, but then what? You complete a video game, but then what? I just want something that’s a bit more tangible, such as travelling, or “creation-based” I guess.

Interior design still gives me pleasure though. My mental health is measurably better when I’m in a clean, orderly, and beautiful environment. Maybe I need to take up gardening?

Yes it is, thank you!! I previously did do my own thing, drawing women in a cartoon style with psychedelic elements but drawing bodies was a pain for me and the anatomy of humans is very tedious. Everytime I created something, I was always unsatisfied and harsh on my style which I felt was bland and looked like every deviantartist's profile. I've fallen in love with Louis Wain's work and therefore am starting to appreciate my new art even if I feel absolutely uncreative for taking his style.

… please be my friend, anon.

I gave up on reading about interior design but I'm still gonna make my home a temple of harmony. If only because I also go crazy when there's clutter around me.

But yeah I absolutely agree with your "then what?" feelings. It's exactly as you said, I need a tangible final product; be it a website, a painting, a novel or, yeah, a beautiful garden. I didn't include travelling but it's actually something I adore, however I mainly travel alone for writing inspiration and relaxation.

Mine are pretty much the same as well. I'm trying to cut down on video games. I still like to play a good game from time to time, luckily my time spent on playing has decreased drastically.

I've been programming since I was a lil kid when I managed to reach my keyboard but now I'm also trying to pursue arts, drawing, 3D and painting mainly and improve on cooking.

You have no idea how much I would wish I could meet you irl. I hope other anons don't hate me for saying this but most girls I know personally are just into fashion and gossip. There are conversations about history and politics here and then but it always comes down to gossiping. It might be because I live in a small town, though my uni experience wasn't that different.

On the "consumption-based" side, I like films and film history, video games (not so much these days), listening to music (folk, metal, hip-hop, some kpop, I get into a new genre every year or so). I also read occasionally but not half as much as I did when I was younger.

My creation-based interests are art (digital and traditional though mostly digital these days), writing (mostly prose though I used to write poetry a little), playing the guitar and writing songs. I also like making videos of various kinds, like fun edits and such, but I don't usually end up posting them anywhere. I used to program and do 3D-modeling but neither of those lasted long. I'm hoping to get into a physical hobby like running or dancing soon. Pretty basic overall, I don't have any really cool or interesting hobbies lol.

It's kind of lame but does anyone else keep an "interest map" for lack of a better descriptor? I keep track of things I am or was interested in going back to middle school, and it's fun to go back through the list and laugh at the kinds of websites I used as a kid and the phases I went through.

This is a wholesome tread.

No, no, there's nothing wrong with them, I just got a "subtle bait" vibe from, you know, seeing and responding to lots of subtle baits in my time.

I see! Sorry for sounding like a bitch…

I actually really love alternative fashion and cooking, those two are my main interests. I'm taking up sewing now because I want to design my own pieces/be able to replicate cool pieces I see online. I really like reading and philosophy as well but haven't had the emotional energy to spend on that in a while.

>interest map

Omg that sounds super cool. Wish I did, might actually start one now! Though I guess my interests stayed pretty much the same over the years, I just changed the specifics…

I would happily be your friend anon! Travelling alone sounds very peaceful and freeing, my dad does it a lot and he’s done/seen some amazing things.

>>230889
I don’t hate you for that anon. I know people who do discuss a variety of subjects but they don’t have any real invested interest in any of them, so there’s no depth to the discussion. I’ve lived in a variety of places and it’s been the same everywhere. TV & social media are great things but I honestly feel like they distract people from doing actual stuff.

>>230898
I would love to learn to make videos, and I’ve been looking for a physical hobby too. I’m thinking of taking ballet up again. I was doing it then I got pregnant, and it was too hard on my hips/ankles. An interest map sounds awesome! I wish I’d done that as a teen.
