This will probably be the last year I make this thread, same with the "happy new year" and "happy women's day" thread, I'm trying to reduce my internet usage as much as possible. I'm sure other creative nonnies can take over, I love all the picmix collages. Love you nonnas, xoxo

It seems like every year on/around the holidays some unfortunate Lolcow event happens (E.g. /ot/ shutdown and /g/ migration on valentines day, lolcow going down for days on Christmas last year, romanianon making her first appearance on either thanksgiving or Christmas). What do you guys think will happen this year, or do you think we will have a peaceful Christmas?

Merry Christmas! Did you all get what you wished for? I am very happy, I got a bunch of handmade gifts related to my hobbies, like tools for baking and crochet, had some yummy food also, so in general it was a very good Christmas for me. Hope everyone else is also enjoying the holiday.

Finishing up my cross stitch project tonight so I can gift it to my mom tomorrow. We have a low key holiday and open presents kinda whenever, so realistically as long as I get it done by tomorrow night it will be fine. I also need to make a rum cake after brunch so I can take a break then from stitching.

>>2320507I don't talk to my actual mom, but my mother in law is one of those hard-working immigrants who only ask for money or a bill to be paid. I used my work bonus to get her a silver necklace and earrings, she loved the earrings especially.
Typically her kids just give her money or something related to cooking/cleaning and I got fed up with it. Wanted her to have something actually nice and truly for her for once. Wanted to get her gold, but I didn't have enough.
Unrelated to the response just didn't wanna double post, this Christmas feels a little sad for me. I was so tired from work and school I never put up any decorations. Money is tight right now so I couldn't really do anything beyond that. The only family I have is my brother and I got to see on social media them having their cookies bake-off, matching PJs, taking pictures, etc. Classic christmas stuff you know? And I never got an invite. He claims I'm so important to him and I'm all he has, but he can't even bother to invite me over and let me celebrate with them as a family. I had to live with them for a year until I finished highschool because our drug addict parents kicked me out, and that's the only time I did christmas stuff with them.
I thought I'd be over it, but it hurts every time to see them go off and do family stuff with extended family on his wife's side that they all complain about. I helped with babysitting, tried to pick out thoughtful gifts, be there for them, help her cousin or whatever fill out scholarships, etc. You know like I put in effort and every single family event I'm never told about, never invited. I'm about to snap and ask my brother why? I recently unblocked them because it just ruined my mood every time and it still hurts the same. I just wanted to be part of a family and it feels like they punish me for no reason.

I got an espresso machine for Christmas! Not much of a coffee drinker nor do I really know anything about making good coffee. Any coffee-loving anons nonas have any tips? I guess I'm curious about making lattes and cappuccinos.

>>2320760Does it come with a wand milk frother on the side like what you'd see in a coffee shop? Usually I'd skip over using them in favour of a separate automatic milk frother since the wand is finnicky as hell and
extremely noisy if youre not using it correctly. it takes a lot of practice to get right, and thats just to get the milk frothed up, itll take double the practice to get a decent latte art out of it.
Im not sure if the consistency of the automatic frother can be used to make latte arts, but its half the effort and time it would take manually frothing it with the espresso machine wand. Best of luck and have fun! Try experimenting with different syrups and coffee bean blends.

>>2320781>Does it come with a wand milk frother on the side like what you'd see in a coffee shop?Yes, it does!
>Usually I'd skip over using them in favour of a separate automatic milk frother since the wand is finnicky as hell and extremely noisyYeah, I'm not sure how good this one will be. The brand was almost unidentifiable online so I'm guessing it must be some kind of knockoff and don't expect it to be the best espresso machine for latte art. I don't have a milk pitcher or coffee grinder yet, either. Still, it'll be nice if I can gain some skill with it. Do you know if I could use a french press or a small cezve in place of a pitcher? I was hoping pretty much anything with a spout would work.
>takes a lot of practice to get right, and thats just to get the milk frothed up, itll take double the practice to get a decent latte art out of it. That's unfortunate. I'm still interested in learning though since latte art looks so pretty and it could make a nice surprise for guests!
>Try experimenting with different syrups and coffee bean blends. Will do. Part of why I'm interested in lattes and cappucinos is actually because they're milk-based and I don't really like how coffee tastes that much. I usually prefer coffee that has something else mixed in, like chocolate.
