And I hate how Edge and OneDrive is so deeply integrated into Explorer that viewing your own local files behaves like network locations and sometimes you need to refresh after moving files or renaming or whatever because the current view isn't updated. Or when the day rolls over if you've left any folders open and all those stupid by date sort categories have to be updated to say Yesterday instead of Today etc you have to refresh the folder because the OS or Explorer gets confused by the date change and shows nothing in the folder. Like it's like complete retards are in charge of UX. They needed to introduce changes to justify their jobs and they thought of "improvements" (or copied Apple like the folder paste retardation) but didn't even bother to fucking test them thoroughly. Or randomly I'll do a Windows Update and then notifications don't work right anymore, clicking on them dismisses them instead of taking you to the relevant place to act on the notification. Then it'll get fixed again in another update later, and break again in yet another update and on and on forever.
The new right-click menu in Explorer is dumb, it's too easy to click on the wrong thing, and the icons are unnecessary and unhelpful. But disabling it entirely isn't the answer either as some apps like WinRAR in newer versions only register to the new right-click menu and not the old one. The new menu is laggy too, as is Explorer in general. I have an i9 and 64 GB of RAM plus dedicated GPU RAM, I should never have anything less than zippy performance from Explorer but with a medium load for my specs (RAM at 50% usage) I start to see performance issues in Explorer. Being able to count seconds while it builds the right-click menu on the fly is unacceptable, it should be instantaneous. Then there's the bullshit Efficiency Mode that can't be turned off that the OS will just throttle processes it thinks are using too many resources, but it still manages to fuck up Explorer etc, plus whatever you were trying to do that got throttled slows to a crawl. Set up a DAW for as low latency as possible? Running nothing else? Nope, process deprioritized so Win 11 can look for updates for the hundredth time today. And all the news, weather, ads etc in the Start Menu, Search, and Notifications? You can turn them off yes but I bet they're still being fetched in the background for "optimal performance" if you ever turn them back on.
I used to have my Win 7 set up with classic UI with grey boxes and blue gradient title bars like Win 95/98 and with no window translucency for minimal footprint and max performance so you might find that similarly soulless compared to Win 7 Aero. I found Win 7 Aero unnecessary for how I use the computer, but can definitely agree it's far more inspiring than Win 11. I agree with you on designing everything to try to make you more depressed. I think it's part of an overarching strategy to make it more likely you'll spend more money when new shit comes out because you have less attachment to your current system and you'll need decent to high specs for the new shit to run half as fast as the old shit did on like a quarter the specs.

Hotels are so boring, I hate "neutral" being the only option for everything here. I wish they'd have fun amazing themes like the love hotels in Japan, but without the gross sex connotations. Even themed hotels here fucking suck, they're like "this is our nautical room" and what they mean is they have navy colored sheets and one (two if you're lucky) paintings of a boat or sea shell. Even "fun" hotels for kids suck for some reason, they paint one wall a slightly brighter color and make the painting a cartoon character and that's now the "wacky fun kids room, perfect for families with little kids".
