The art confession in the GIOYC thread made me realize I'm some kind of backwards art elitist. I can't even be in weeb spaces because the typical moeblob art style is so offputting but Kouta Hirano's linework and body language, Usumaru Furuya's avant garde panelling, Matono Anji's unsettling atmospheres, all are unique enough that typical weebs overlook because they're technically competent but not visually appealing. Inb4 Hellsing was an international bestsellers, people largely focused on the coom vs his artistic competence. Litchi Hikari club was briefly popular because of the yaois and nobody read his other manga. I can say Jujutsu Kaisen looked ugly as hell and yet something about the chickenscratch lineart was impressive.
