This has been a life saver for me.

First and foremost you should reflect and ask if you have an internet/gaming/social media addiction. Everyone this day and age should check for this because internet addiction has just slipped under the radar.
reddit isn't the best of sites, but these subreddits are good
r/getdisciplined
r/nosurf
r/DecidingToBeBetter
r/IWantToLearn

rescuetime.com and manictime.com track what sites/programs you use. getcoldturkey.com blocks websites and software from your computer for a certain amount of time (if that sounds extreme it was originally made for people with internet addictions)

I love how iPhone created Screen Time and turned it on by default. I went from an embarrassingly high amount of wasted time on my phone to under 2 hours a day including work stuff

I use an app called freedom to block sites and apps during the week, and then I unlock everything during the weekend

Internet addiction is so harmful and epidemic. I don’t think I’ve met anyone my age who isn’t addicted beside me. The worst part is that they don’t seem to even care.

Med school insiders are good. They sometimes cover med degrees, but most of their videos are general study and college tips.

I don't know how to phrase this better, but do you have any good 'adulting' youtube channels.

I didn’t go to college I work from home while self studying to start my career. What kind of adult things are you looking for? Household management, different types of productivity, or like legal stuff??

legal stuff mostly

What planner system do you anons use? I’m using a modified bullet journal, but I’ve been thinking about ordering a lucky life tools planner when it gets super cheap bc I like the goal setting and time tracking pages

my fiance and i have an integrated planner app so we can help eachother be accountable for things.

I use a bullet journal and a Happy Planner. I'm thinking about combining both (since the HP is a disc system which allows inserts) or getting an EC or another hourly planner for next year.

Erin condren usually looks so nice, but I didn’t like this year’s. I’ve never owned anything EC but I loved the hardbound life planner with the petals… wish they were always available but also EC is so expensive.

what app?

Any of you anons want to share what your goals for the year are and how you’re progressing?

I feel like my original goal isn’t going that well, but I’ve achieved a lot of other stuff I hadn’t planned, so I think I’m still content with it. Just wish I had wasted less time moping about, but it’s been a hard year. I’m really determined to make the second half better!

it's called avocado. it has photos and chat but is mostly focused on organization with a good calendar and list sharing. i've found it's extremely helpful for planning my schedule on the fly, stuff like being asked to swap shifts at work, and groceries. we both write what we need from the shops and then either of us can go get it and the other will know!

Genuine question: why use a paper planner when you can use apps like Google Calendar, Evernote, Notion, etc? Anyone want to share their paperless productivity routine?

No. 428810

>>428806
I’m a part of the paper planner master race and I shun digital because it takes more time and energy, is less customizable, gets you much less engaged, and adds to the amount of time you’re staring at a screen. You also don’t have to worry about battery.

The ‘upsides’ of digital is that you can make backups and you can search keywords. You can also be automatically reminded, but I personally don’t think that this is an actual upside and just contributed to enabling us to overuse technology as a crutch and shorten our attention span/memory. I use my planner to not only plan my days but to improve myself in general.

Thanks for this thread, OP. I've always been a fan of things like this.
Is there a planner but more for…writing purposes? Kind of like a thought-bubble where you can connect a bunch of ideas for a potential story.

Idk of any planners specifically, but would bullet journaling or just normal mind mapping work?

No. 428825

Thanks, this is interesting. I prefer digital for speed / being able to access my stuff on all devices but I do feel like writing things down helps you connect with your goals and reflect on them much better.

I have shelled out 20euros for the premium version of Edo and don't regret it. I used to just randomly use Google keep to make task lists but Edo synch with my Google agenda + phone and I Can have tasks lists by days. You Can also put notes in it, but it's not that great. I hope it gets better.

I'm Always searching for a note Keeper for longer pieces of writing and day logging. I don't like Evernote at all and most note Keeper out there won't give you a high level of organisation.
I used to love Keepnote but it's not been maintained in a looooong time.
I tried to transition to cherrytree which is basically the same thing but the lack of emoji support is bothering me (it's dumb, I know).
I Wonder if I wouldn't be better served by a random Google sheet to keep my logs and shit.

Can anyone recommend good channels/videos for planning and/bullet journaling? I don’t want to waste 20 mins of my life watching someone draw fucking succulents, I want some real stuff that actually helps with productivity

Everyone jerked themselves about how they won’t use it anymore and there was massive faux outrage, but now they are like

>I’ve decided that I won’t stop shilling for EC or buying their planners… it’s a personal decision everyone should make and no one should judge me and my white ass about it even though I was literally crying last week about what an affront to black people this is. If you call me out about it, I WILL threaten dramatically to leave the planning community forever, because this behavior is PERSECUTION and BULLYING

A lot of black people are still buying EC too so whatever, but the white planners are being absolute cows about the whole thing. EC herself straight up refused to apologize for any part of it and last I heard the company was going to fire her and remove her name from the brand if she didn’t apologize soon. I haven’t looked for updates since then so idk how it developed

Has your planning style or system changed since the virus? I’ve found it harder to keep up my routines despite the fact that I worked at home before, too.

Thankfully my life has gone back to almost normal (UE corporate fag here) and I use my planner more effectively than ever. During quarantine I couldn't plan anything, just jotted down the absolute bare minimum.
