Honestly nothing is wrong with tumblr as long if you're using it correctly. Create a blog with quality posts like you would do with blogger or wordpress. Dont follow people who are using tumblr like it is twitter.

Use both. Save your crappy unnecessary unoriginal reblogs for pinterest and use tumblr as a personal journal.

my main problem is the people. unfortunately people get incredibly butthurt if i unfollow them and honestly i am friends with some people but their blogs suck or have a lot of nsfw or sjw content and get salty if i unfollow. xkit can only do so much and seems to be falling apart by the day for me.

i didn't really have a problem with tumblr until i started to gain a lot of followers. now it's like no matter how hard i try to stay on the not-crazy side of tumblr, it leaks. the more followers i get, the more dumb shit i see. the more previously cool people i followed slowly morph into genderqueer fictionkin. it's a cesspool.

but i like getting followers and feeling popular and seeing cute pics of food and my waifu.

if i could just bring myself to click delete it would all be over…

I haven't been to tumblr for some time solely because I can't stand the SJWs. I've tried unfollowing people but it seems everyone reblogs stupid SJW shit every now and then and when most of my followed blogs do it, they flood my dashboard.

And fuck people who don't tag their reblogs so I can't blacklist them.

No. 7557

One of my real life friends is an SJW. I followed him at first because I was like Oh! I always follow friends! Worst idea ever. He complains constantly about everything. I hate him S:. Tumblr is somewhat boring now. I don't get why a bathroom wall gets 500,000 notes..

No. 7569

Don't laugh but I joined for the apblr and studyblr blogs in high school (yes studying and ap class fandom is a thing ) because they were super motivating for me, and then for the medblr group. But ughghgh some of the people I like started to reblog a shitton of sjw-y posts, and the studyblr tag has degraded into ~look how pretty my notes are~ and ~look at all these staedtler markers and pilot juice pens i have~ :/

Come on I followed your blog for surgery pics and medical stuff, what happened?

I love the people who ask you to message them if you are going to unfollow them because you unfollowing them "gives them anxiety" or something like that. It's just like calm down child. If your "anxiety" is that bad that you'll cry over one lost follower, get off the internet. And then somehow if you unfollow and don't tell them, they'll come after you or somehow a follower of theirs will find out and hunt you down to message them. It's very creepy.
>>7587
well I mean, you don't just "become" asexual or something along the lines of LGBTQIA+, you just find something that defines you? But I feel like a lot of people do start identifying as something because a lot of tumblr is that and it's like you want to "fit in" or something, which I guess is like iffy, but then you have queer people identifying as hetero/cis but for them it's a different reason for identifying as such, so I don't feel as much hatred towards it. But I do agree that tumblr feminism is very misandrist.

No. 7650

Tumblr is just a tool, it all depends on how you use it. I follow mostly blogs that only post pictures (or quotes from books) and only have like ~100 followers from 4chan's /cgl/ and /fa/. I don't mind if someone reblogs a sjw-y post once in a blue moon and I'll just keep scrolling. If it becomes more common I just unfollow them and find someone new to follow, plenty of blogs in the sea.

I have few friends IRL who are my mutuals but they aren't SJW, but then again I wouldn't really hang out with SJWs anyways.

Once got some SJW anon hate in my inbox, replied with "suck my dick lol" and they never sent anything again. What I'm trying to say, never take apologetic stance towards their attacks, it's what they are aiming for.

Also people I know here, who use tumblr, don't really become crazy genderfluid snowflakes SJWs. Maybe because I am from slavlands and that shit isn't really tolerated here.

No. 7655

>>7650
>>7652
Haha, I should clarify that it isn't everyone I mutually follow that becomes a sjw/fictionkin/whatever. But enough to bother me. But frankly one mutual friend being sjw is enough to bother me, lol.

I do try my hardest to only follow and reblog stuff relevant to my interests but idk, it seems like once you reach a certain amount of followers the chances of a few of your followers being "tumblr" ups. I like to post anime catgirls and stuff and people wanna lecture me on how problematic it is. That kind of thing. I do reply with "lol ok" and shit like that but man, it gets old.

And then of course the ideal there is to just block messages but in the scheme of things those messages account for 1/10 of my messages so eh.

Then, if something happens in America related to race (so like a few times a month) all the white guilty people I follow must spam the hell out of my dashboard with the same shit and not tag because it's "IMPORTANT!!!!" so I can't blacklist. You ask for a tag and you're a racist. Nevermind the point is I frankly just don't want to go on tumblr to see news about every black kid that gets murdered. I can just like watch the news.

I'm just easily annoyed…

>>7649
You totally don't "become" asexual but I am certain there are some people who co-opt the title for attention. I go through extensive periods of time where I just don't want to have sex. I haven't wanted to have sex for the past year, though I would like to with a boyfriend or someone I had feelings for. This is described as "demisexual" on tumblr I think. I think it's just normal behavior and I'm heterosexual. I would never in a million years identify as "asexual" or "demisexual" because they don't fit me, but I could see people having similar feelings (or perhaps having never had sex, not knowing if they really have the desire or not) and labeling themselves as such even though that's not what asexual is. Things like demisexual, demiromantic, greysexual, shit like that, just seems to mainly be used by normal heterosexual people so that they can feel like they fit in.

There's some guy on tumblr who gets a lot of flack for having the view that you are either male, female, both, or neither, and that sexuality has never mean to explain how/why/when you have sex. I agree with all of that and it makes perfect sense to me and a lot of people I know. People complain about "erasure" but I'm not sure when they are going to realize they are not helping their cause by including all these made up gendertypes and sexualities.

No. 7657

>>7655
>You ask for a tag and you're a racist.

During #blackout some white girl I was following reblogged every fucking photo from the tag without tagging them and then threw this passive-aggressive fit over "racist assholes unfollowing her". I don't like any kind of untagged spam on my dashboard, I despise selfies in general and your white guilt just makes it worse.

No. 7664

>>7657
GOD I have a hard time explaining this to people because it seems like no one else shares my true annoyance with selfies. I don't like them in general, but I acknowledge that they are a part of modern internet culture and I am kind of tolerant of it. I don't mind seeing them occasionally from people I know/like. Like, if I'm following you, I don't really mind if you post a selfie every so often. In fact it's sometimes cool to see the face behind the blog, or whatever.

BUT with that said, I hate events like blackout, visibility days, whatever. I don't like selfies from random people I don't know. I don't care about them. I don't want to see them. I don't care if you're pretty because…I just don't care. And I don't like people who post a selfie and then relog the same fucking selfie like 5 times a day until they get enough notes. You reblog your own selfie and you earn yourself an unfollow. Get over yourself.

No. 7670

>>7655
i dont believe in a lot of their bullshit sexuality tags, but despite the origin of the word demisexual, it seems kind of valid. it's not just about only wanting to have sex w your boyfriend. it's about literally not thinking of any person you aren't attached to, in a sexual capacity. that is not common.

No. 7673

The main problem I have with tumblr feminism is that they want to be pampered victims all the time and never take responsibility for being fuckheads. Like you can spew any putrid selfish shit and when you get called out you just yell rape threats and misogyny and boom - you're free of any responsibility for your actions. Feminism is supposed to be about fucking empowerment, not reducing women to be little children. These same fucking people defend for muslim women's rights to wear a veil even though in many countries you get killed for not wearing one (still ok if you want to wear it yourself) yet they yell rape culture at dress codes at schools and work places.

EXACTLY!

I never understood that at all. Also, what's with all this 'slut shaming' shit? Yeah, yeah. I get it, girls can do whatever they want bla bla. But I remember around two years ago when it was tumblr feminism was beginning to boom, I was literally just giving my opinion on how the feminists came across and someone anon'd me saying "You're such a fuckin' hateful slut shaming bitch!!!" over absolutely nothing. That's how pathetic these girls are.

Also, I think it's just an excuse to shag as many people as possible without getting called out for it. That's all I see the 'slut shaming' pass for. No one can actually talk it over and say "Yeah well, I got pregnant because–" it's always "She can do whatever she wants!!! It's her body!!!!!!!!!!!!!! slut shaming is wrong!!!!" but half the time these bitches never bring up the idea of the pill or contraception.

Oh and my favourite was the abortion party thing. How girls on tumblr agree with the idea that abortion parties are right! I mean, I guess it's a relief to have an abortion for some but it was amazing to see how defensive they became when someone slandered it or gave their opinion on the matter.

I can't stand tumblr feminism. It gives me a headache, it's not even feminism. It's just something for some desperate sweaty college students to make shitty art work for and 'no' badges for their etsy shop. Something for greasy obese hairy low lives to look up to and a place for pubescent little girls to finally feel like they 'belong' somewhere.

ughhh

Most of the people who complain about slut shaming aren't sluts anyway. They're just school or college girls who got irritated when another girl they don't like called them a slut as a random insult.

I don't think they'd be trying to ban "slut shaming" if they actually knew any sluts, i.e. the types of women who get abortions every year or masturbate openly at house parties to attract guys (both true stories).

I saw the term "gender euphoric" today. I don't know how prevalent/serious it is but it was something along the lines of "I'm trans because I'm apathetic of my birth gender so dressing as the opposite gives me euphoria" therefore I'm trans, or something like that.

I just hate how people treat tumblr like a news source. How many fake "articles" have been circulated around with thousands of reblogs, only to find out it was a fake? Too fucking many for the amount of faith people put into this stupid site.

I used to take tumblr seriously back in 2010 before this SJW shitstorm happened, but it was fully of whiney people so I left. I came back this year, though my main is just reblogs of bears and spaghetti, and my side is for pictures of gross food with #wifeymaterial on it.

What is so special? Because he's Japanese we should automatically assume he would have amazing taste or something idk…

People also apply all these standards that Asian men all supposedly universally have regardless of the country they were brought up in etc, it really is as if people think they are not actual people with differing personalities.

But I guess this starts to go off topic.

No. 7890

I'm pretty sure all the white tumblr girls who praise black people and hold them as the poor, mistreated noble savages still wouldn't date black guys and clutch their purse in horror when a group of black men approaches them.

No. 7892

One thing that always gets to me about these types of threads is that the majority of you consider your experiences to be representative of the rest of the population. For example >>7688, you said that slut shaming is an excuse for those against it to fuck as many guys as possible without facing shame but then don't bring up contraception.

What? Dude the vast majority of feminists I followed advocated against slut shaming because of the fact that guys were praised for having as much sex as possible whereas women are made to feel guilty for having more than 1 or 2 partners. Contraception is also largely brought up as a need that should be made free or at least much cheaper and available to teens the same way that condoms are.

You could do a quick google search to find multiple tumblr blogs discussing these issues yet what you come across is 100% of tumblr.

I'm not targeting you as though you're the only one thats wrong, but it's annoying as fuck because you use that to justify your hatred for something you don't even understand.

I always make sure to look up any of the statements a lot of you make here as well as those people on tumblr themselves make to see if they are accurate, especially before attempting to discussing it with someone else.

Anyway, this is different from the people who are using the term slut shaming incorrectly by applying it to situations where they can cheat on their significant other or who felt they didn't have to get pregnant despite engaging in sex with a person.

That's true.

Blogs do discuss this issue, which is good. But the majority of the time, when I was on tumblr all I ever saw was sailor moon banners with "slut shaming is wrong" and girls just throwing that term around aimlessly. Then when you questioned it, all you ever received was backlash and it shoved down your throat. People make pointless points about "men this-" and "men that-" but in person, I never even hear any of this shit coming from anybody I go to college with. I just think it's an online mentality or something, if that makes sense?

So I just gave up, it became boring and quite frankly, I don't even care. I just distance myself away from any of that now, I don't want to see it.

At the end of the day, I do not think 'slut shaming' will actually ever end. It's not that women don't like women, but not every woman will get along or be 'kind' like tumblr wants them to be. Not promoting that kind of behaviour, I just do not think it'll end. I think people will be more… well, it'll mellow down. But never go away, like most things in the world.

Whoever someone chooses to bed, it shouldn't be anyone else's business but there will ALWAYS be someone who will pry and make it their business.

I'm not defending him specifically anon, just the fact that because someone is a huge ugly nerd =/= they can't be popular/funny. I find most comedians in the US to be so fucking unfunny and banal that I don't understand how they haved the fame they do, yet people loooove them.

I guess a lot of people can relate to what they're saying, which I'm not bashing, just the fact that their delivery is so bad jfc.

Idk who you're specifically talking about on tumblr, and this isn't really related to what you're saying, but something I noticed is that the slang/music/fashion black people make and their way of looking at things has been immensely popular for decades. It think the reason it seems so "in your face" is because of how much media tries to simultaneously play it off as though its inferior, so the fact that you see/hear any of it at all causes you to focus on it.

I think its also the reason tumblr and many other sites obsess over Asians. they do not get the visibility they do as other races, so people foam at the mouth at anything East Asian related, specifically Japanese or Korean. I'm also assuming because Asians are the minority that has the most in common with white people, that it is why so many white weebs obsess to the extent they do (not trying to make it a racial issue in terms of who obsesses more, just that in general I've noticed white people are more into East Asian culture than other groups, maybe for different reasons too?) since they can relate to someone that is so "different".

Last thing on my mind: the skin lightening on pics there is a thread of. I've always wondered, for the white girls who lighten their pictures, if it really is about race for them?

Btw, I myself am white, so I hope no one takes this as me being confrontational. I just had a soc class where we were taking a sociological approach to every thing so I'm just wondering about the stuff posted about here, lol.

It's all Japanese and Korean, but China is starting to come up because it's not overplayed. People are shifting their interests to China/Hong Kong because it's still East Asia and they think no one's gonna call them a weeaboo/Koreaboo or realize it's still the same shit. I have even seen some people getting into Vietnam.

No one cares about anything but East Asia though.

I would love to see the amount of scenery/city/travel blogs as there are for Asian cities for other countries. I tried looking for Finland, various South American countries, even the USA, but there weren't any active blogs with good quality photos that I could find. Sucks! I wanna see pictures of buildings and snacks from countries other than Japan.

It's not even about stuff being overplayed or not. Chinese entertainment is coming up because China is starting to more heavily promote and export it which is something Japan and South Korea have been doing since the late 90s.

Tumblrinas just consume what's sold to them and Japan and ROK do the most selling.

That makes sense. I don't know much about Chinese entertainment tbh. It just seems like the amount of China/HK photoblogs and whatever has been kind of increasing on tumblr, and the only reason I could think of for it was the same as how it was with Korea/K-Pop…people didn't want to seem "too interested" in Japan so they got interested in Korea as well.

You can't really compare south-eastern and southern Asian cultures and nationalities to Korea, Japan and China. Especially Japan and Korea since they both have been under the occupation of the US and nowadays are very westernized, developed countries so westerners can relate to their society. But those three countries share a very similar culture, entertainment and traditions while the south-eastern/southern like the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand etc. are very different from them. I'm fascinated by everything from Japan and Korea, but the SE countries, not so much. They're actually nothing like the far east Asian countries so complaining about people being interested in Korea and Japan but not the Philippines is kind of petty and implies that all Asian countries are the same.

Then again I'm not American and my country shares a very similar cultural behavior to Japan so it's been very easy for me to understand their community.

Exactly, on tumblr a normal girl can get like 4 notes but pictures of Japanese school girl's legs get 593535935 notes just because she's japanese in a uniform…

ugh

No. 8002

Exactly. They're all very, very different. Plus, why be interested in lets say India when you've got Japan dishing out cute clothing, anime and cutesy things? Girls are obviously going to head to Japan. Whereas yeah, you'll get people who are more interested in more things. But yeah.

To be honest, most people I know are more interested in places like Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan. I think it's just the internet and weebs idk.

idk I think you guys just hang out too much on the weeb side of Tumblr. I get pictures of henna, Hindi gods, pretty Indian women, etc on my dash from time to time and it's all the sort of shit "cool" bloggers are into (the type with lots of scenery, dark colors, pictures of oceans, cityscapes, simplistic "fashionable" outfits, brand names or logos engraved on objects, etc).
Of course people who are into Japan to begin with will drool all over Japanese shit, and in case you haven't noticed weeaboos, as a subculture, are unashamed as fuck about their interests.

I no longer use tumblr because of it. Tumblr, living dolls and weebs have ruined not only anime but Japan for me too. I feel like a weeb learning about the friggin' culture nowadays, that's how bad its became.

The number of notes you get on selfies is pure luck nowadays. Just have to have the the one right person to reblog it. I've seen some ugly as fuck people with 500 notes on a shitty selfie.

No. 8063

>>8049

That's true, I think if you've got tumblr with tons of followers for a good few years then you're bound to get likes on selfies. But if you're new, it solely depends on who you are and what you look like tbh. If you're catering towards lolita, fairy kei or something then yeah, you'll get likes because you're all interlinked.

Tumblr isn't what it used to be tbh, people were using it like myspace when I first joined and it was kinda good. Now it's just who's the most sexiest, who's the most famous kawaii aidoru… boring. They're all clones, everyones the same.

Notice how most people who were 'e-famous' floated away from tumblr? tumblr helped them e.g dakota and then they just went off to do their own thing, jobs, modelling, acting ect

Also the fact that everyone has to take nudes now. Everyone wants to be skinny and pale. Ugh. Like I get it, love your body, blah blah blah but future employers will not like those nudes…maybe.

No. 8107

YES. Why does everyone think it's a good idea to take nudes now? And why do they think I want to see them?

I mean, they might not even use their main email or real name on their blog so their employers won't find them…maybe.

But they are cute. Sorry that they enjoy their cute butts and want to post them online. This is the age of the butts.

the only people who want to see butts are thirsty losers, and it's easy to find people's nudes because these idiots link all their profiles to their tumblr. people think posting nudes is cool because they're so "free and open" or whatever and it's "just ur anatomy u square!!!" but actually it's fucking stupid and pretty much everyone regrets it after they grow up and try to get a job.

No. 8137

Nahhh, everyone enjoys seeing a cute butt, not just thirsty losers. It's a butt, you see them everywhere.
and so what? We all grow up with regrets and mistakes. So what? Who cares? Those are everyone's own business. I don't really think an employer would beat someone up over a nude. Lets be real. A lot of people take and send nudes, be it online or just through text to someone. It literally is just a body. I mean, I don't see you complaining about a model's butt because her body is technically her job so who says the people posting nudes or butt pics won't get a job with modeling? Also, this generation has a lot of like stay at home jobs which don't exactly have a concrete employers and they make money fine and enough to support themselves, so that nude or butt pic won't get in the way

Pls go back to tumblr and conitune being a thirsty attention whore online or something. Not everyone likes to see that shit dumbass. Some people are uncomfortable with it. Did you specifically come to this thread to defend tumblrs stupid ass trends?

Why are you so worried about people thinking its stupid since you just so uncaring and laid back. What a kool kid.

No. 8156

I didnt mention the nude thing to piss people off lol. Im saying its a tumblr trend and it should probably stop. All these girls (and some guys) are seeing all this kawaii pink stuff, "its cool doing a bunch of drugs", "perfect" relationships, etc. I've noticed people can't seem to think for themselves. They believe their lives should be like the ones they see on tumblr.

The minimalistic life style looks hella boring. Why would I want a living room with just a cactus on a table.

Less to maintain.

I've made it a habit to go through all my belongings and if I find something I haven't used in like two years it gets tossed out. If I ever need to leave in a hurry I can throw literally everything I own in the car and drive away.

nah, its just when they tag unrelated shit
i cant find it now, but i remember a girl posted a butt pic and tagged it "pokemon" because there was a little bit of a 3ds poking in the quarter on the photo. these chicks don't just post their dirty asses, they have to show it to everyone! including people like me that just wanted to see cute pictures of sylveon, and ran into a close-up of an asshole

yes, employers will care about nudes on the internet, especially in a situation where you are the face of a company. it is incredibly unprofessional. your boss might not personally care, but customers might. in fact i have seen multiple people lose their jobs over things like nudes on the internet (either distributed through them or not) or saying something on the internet that could be construed wrongly.

and as for your little model thing – you make that choice when you take the photo shoot, but yeah, an employer is going to understand that you did a tasteful nude while you were employed as a model vs you took trashy mirror-shot nudes for notes on tumblr.

>Also, this generation has a lot of like stay at home jobs which don't exactly have a concrete employers and they make money fine and enough to support themselves, so that nude or butt pic won't get in the way

this is why you seem young. this generation does not have stay at home jobs, unless you mean things like camming and etsy shops. those are not longterm careers and most not enough to support themselves more than day-to-day and they don't provide benefits. a lot of the people who are currently camming and running a taobao reseller shop on storenvy in their early 20s will probably be trying to get a regular job by the time they're 25. actual work-from-home positions that aren't sex work or self-employment do have employers who go through applications and background checks and you are often required to report to a physical location every so often. but as i said…no, this generation does not have a lot of stay at home jobs. lol.
