https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuYx81nzzz4OFQrhbKDzTngI know she's kind of busted, but I am tired of tumblr lolcow nobodies so lets have Michelle Phan thread.
A popular makeup guru with shit advices, lying about everything when it comes to her background, founded a rip-off make-up brand IQQU that wasn't FDA approved and made people get skin diseases etc etc
Read more about her shit here:

>>130504It's a shame what she did to her face, she looks like an alien and her eyes ended up really weird (I'm not sure how to describe it but she has way too many folds). She was cute before too, she had no reason to do what she did.
What's worse is that she tries to use this high pitched fake voice now that sounds awful, I can't watch her videos. In her old ones her voice was pleasant.
All she does is boring lifestyle shit now, I wish she'd go back to doing her shitty makeup tutorials, at least those were entertaining.

But when I watched a handful of her videos at once I very quickly realized that she has one look and she just palette swaps them. I think she's been deviating from it (probably from enough commenters noticing the same) But it's too late. I work at a make up store now, and I try so hard not to cringe whenever a 12 year old walks in mentioning her.
Also is the cosmetic line mentioned in OP Em cosmetics? Because that shit was in conjunction with L'oreal. And it is shit, despite what a lot of 'reviews' claim.

Having the baby aged her horribly as well. I do remember in one video she talked about the preggo hormones clearing up her skin, but her under eye bags got bad and she stopped looking like a 20-something as soon as she was well into her first trimester. She lost a lot of the plumpness in her face that's associated with looking youthful.
She's likely a very nice person IRL but she comes off as very try hard, and she likes to wave around christian values like they mean something. She tried creating a tag video about… something. it was bad. Esp since it clearly never caught on like so many other tag videos.

I thought it was like her mission with this video to redefine "netflix and chill". In reality that was just her being hyper defensive of how she used the phrase, after many people made fun of her for it.
If calling her party a netflix and chill party was supposed to be funny, she certainly did a shitty job at communicating that. Sounded like she literally had no idea what it meant.

I for one don't own any of the multi-colour/bigger pallets simply because they often contain half of the shades I would never use ( on their own or to blend ), so if you're only doing make up on yourself it's pretty wasteful.

>>238241Yeah, I'm moderately experienced with makeup, and I still wouldn't know where to start with it
As for the quality, I've seen some people on YouTube say it's good, but I haven't seen people raving about it like you get with the MUFE shadows, for example, nor have I seen it trending or get a cult following like some other smaller brands' palettes, like the Morphe ones for example. To me, it just seems like Em Cosmetics/Michelle sent people the palettes, these people did reviews on them, and then just added them to their already large makeup collections to be looked over in favour of better products.
(disclaimer: I just randomly picked products I've heard people talk about a lot for those examples, I have no idea how good they are myself)
No. 238260
>>238249In my opinion MUFE shadows are very over-priced. The shades are beautiful, the pigmentation is OK, but realistically you can get similar shades with similar quality for half the price from some of the other brands. I'm not a fan of their concealers either. However to each their own, of course. Morphe I haven't tried, but I did hear it's much more affordable and of decent quality, depending on the product.

Then it still went to court, but I don't know what happened, if she won or not.

No. 238636
>>238632Yeah.
Honestly there's other youtubers out there, to name one Pewdiepie, who use music in their videos and he hasn't gotten sued. I wonder what makes his usage of music, different from hers?
I know you'll get content-id' if you play a song for more than 10 seconds, he does it and multiple times throughout a video.
I get that michelle phan would do it during the duration of a whole video, instead of in pieces spread out through it. but idk
No. 238640
>>238636It also has to do with whether or not a claim is put through and if you fight it back. Right now it's a hot topic on YT (I haven't watched Nostalgia Critic's video on Fair Use yet) mostly because of the Fine Bros shitfest that's been happening.
From what I can tell is that without permission using small clips are less likely to get you attacked since a lot of yt-ers do that. Given Michelle did a "Netflix and Chill" video without knowing what that actually meant as it traveled through social media, she def wouldn't know how copyright worked.

It's sad to see most of these reviews are so dishonest. It may have something to do with the fact that a lot of them start with "so I was sent these from the Em PR team…". At least the comments are mostly honest.

If you guys are interested, this gurugossiper thread about her plastic surgeries is really interesting:
http://gurugossiper.com/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=201>>244852I don't see it… to me, she looks like a 65 year old Vietnamese lady who got who fucked up her chin, kinda almost like that Chinese car model who got some real shitty plastic surgery lol

>>244909I don't think she's had fillers, but she has had a very obvious tattooed lip liner done on her top lip that completely changed the shaped of it.
That she also denies.
No. 244923
>>244910I tend to go with fillers because it seems more convenient for her to get her chin touched up and the lips as well. Also, when she smiles it's not as flat as it used to be.
But a tattoo is possible. At any rate, she's had something done to it
No. 244924
>>244899Okay, I can see now what you meant with getting rid of her Asian features. I honestly didn't know she had so much done.
On the other hand, it's sad that ethnic women can't have plastic surgery without being accused of wanting to look Western/white.
No. 245525
>>245371Are you sure it wasn't a skin tone thing? Having light skin is pretty standard across the board for most asian cultures, including Vietnamese, but not all the other stuff she's done. It's not like she seemed to have grown up as the only asian kid amound whites either, which again would also make more sense. Another less popular yt-er I watch is half Filapino half black and went to a mostly white school and struggled with her skin color as a result.
Also removing the eye fat was probably the stupidest thing because Europeans can totally have eye fat. Hooded eyes are super common on white ppl wtf.

Jen who is 100% Korean American and I believe has yet to get any surgery, at least judging from a scroll through of her google images search, her face is unchanged besides general aging (which isn't a whole lot.)

Also wasn't everyone saying that Promise and Michelle don't get along or something? What happened to that?
No. 249380
>>249113Promise had a falling out with Michelle at one point (it wasn't incredibly public, but you could tell there was friction) and tried to separate herself from the crazy, but there was some backlash and she likely realized that even though her skills in make up greatly exceeds her sister in law's, Michelle is more 'successful' and needs to ride her coat tails.
I learned of it a few years ago when I was looking around the GG threads about Michelle. I wish Promise didn't have to be stuck with such a vain talentless bitch on YT.

I think you took my comment the wrong way. Promise has always struck me as kinda passive-aggressive/bitchy. Nothing that would cause Michelle levels of drama, but since people hate Michelle's bullshit and the two have beef, they act like Promise is a super classy angel. Just my observation.

Also I wonder how Michelle hooked her brother up with Promise. The timing of their marriage was sort of sketchy. And how awkward must it be for Steve when there's semi-public drama between his wife and sister…

I have to say it was a little weird listening to it. It's probably safe to say she wouldn't have noticed him if he weren't Michelle's brother, if he didn't send her make up, movie like flowers, etc.
The "little weird part" I was referring to is just the intro when she talks about how many guys she was talking to and Steve just sits there like a confused shy puppy.

I don't see any real differences at all, it looks like she just got her lids evened out. Nothing extreme and they're symmetrical now so it's only a plus. IMO her features are very beautiful so I'm glad she didn't do anything to them.

Apparently, Michelle makes Webtoon now. Sorry to say this, but for an ex art major, I thought her art would be better than this. So far, the story isn't any good either, in my opinion. Still all over the place, even after three chapters.

I was friends with Michelle waaaaaay back in 2003-2007 on Xanga. She did not start launching herself into the beauty world after getting rejected from a job, nor did she come from abject poverty.
Back then, she was clearly at LEAST an upper-middle class asian girl attending Ringling College of Art & Design, a 60k+ institution per semester.
Initially, she was super into gaming and digital illustration/painting. She wanted to work in the gaming industry, at the time she was playing up the "hot gamur gurl" thing. She owned all kinds of expensive consoles and peripherals, and an expensive drawing tablet.
Later on (and why I eventually stopped following her, besides the fact that Xanga was dying), she started getting into beauty and fashion - a rich boyfriend seemed to be involved. She posted a lot of "modeling" stories with all the cheesy hunk & fancy car accouterments. It definitely seemed like she was trying to get into modeling and fashion, and she more or less dropped the creative gal/gamer gurl persona to the sidelines at this point.
She also started posting homemade skincare recipes on Xanga at this time, and got a lot of positive feedback, so she grew it into a main topic on her blog, and started posting videos, too.
I stopped following her around then, but the next time i heard her name was as a Youtube beauty "guru."

I don't recall the specifics but I think they just played free for all and the people with the highest scores would win some iQQU (her skincare line) products. After she broke up with her boyfriend at the time, he came onto gurugossip(er) which had a very prominent anti-Michelle community and confessed that he was the one who played for her.

>>395821>Braces can't magically alter the length of space between your lower lip and the tip of your chin.Aktually they can, if you have a terrible overbite+overjet your lower lip will be forced to extend to the upper one in an unnatural way to close your mouth(lip incompetence), this will make your chin appear larger. This is however the opposite of Michelle's case as braces in the aforementioned situation would make the distance between your lip and point of your chin smaller.
