This blog really has it all
http://offensivekpop.tumblr.com/

It's been inactive for over a month, though. Maybe that's a good thing. "Offensive K-POP" is really just like all the worst, most humorless Tumblogs by American teens. The whole reason for its existence is apparently to further project American academic left-wing political correctness as a convenient means of self aggrandizement. Tumblr seems to have an army of busybody American teens who think it's cool to go around scolding people.

As with so many other Tumblr sites having to do with East Asia and "social justice," this is a Western blog posing as East Asian. All the criticism is directed at other Western K-POP fans. In a sense, it's Westerners hating on other Westerners. The motivation, apparently, is to appear to be the BEST fan by putting down other fans. This blog's creater aggrandizes herself (himself? themselves?) by taking on the unsolicited role(s) of KPOP protector(s).

As usual, no fun is allowed. For example, you can't tease N about his complexion without it seeming to have something to do with being a "person of color." Hongbin can't make a joke without being portrayed by these American kids as a horrible racist.

Mind you, this isn't all bad. I fully agree that famous people are human beings and deserve some special protection, not to have their personal space intruded on, and so on. We need to remember that we don't own our heros, and they really don't owe us anything just because we're fans. All true. But aren't we sick of seeing Western Tumblr users pushing (very American) social justice agendas on everyone?

I love kpop (no shame yolo) but people who whine about it being offensive are pretty dense. It's a commercialized mass media product made to be sold to teenagers with the sole purpose of making companies rich. Either you like it and realize what it is, or you don't like it. You can't be a fan and an anti-fan at the same time to be "edgy"

Exactly, besides I've seen tons of blogs criticizing kpop idols for using the n word, very few say it's okay of them because "they don't understand the histiry of that word, besides Korea is a homogeneous society and black people are still very rare there," meanwhile you have a bunch of Korean Americans bringing racist jokes over to Korea demoralizing black people, and Koreans themselves looking down on black people because of the media, and yet they hire black choreographers and looove hip hop.

The same shit happens with white people too. They get labelled as promiscuous, loud, violent, insensitive towards Korean culture, alcoholics (Russia and Ireland, when Koreans are the most alcoholic nation on the planet) and people who come to Korea to rape their women, and yet they looove having them over and smiling in their faces while they talk about them behind their backs.

People have to stop acting as though Kpop is a perfect portrayal of Korean life. Even those series where people get to know a kpop group are staged, and people take it for what it is. Are there moments where we get some insight on Korean culture? Yes.

There are many scenes where members make fun of another for being darker or heavier set, but non Koreans, and non Asians in general take it so personally. This is because they think that if they were to come across a kpop star that they would be regarded negatively by them if they were heavier set or darker. In reality, they won't give a fuck. You're the one who idolizes them and looks to more Koreans to look up to, not the other way around. If you know that this is an aspect of the culture (Where dark skin is looked down on or only regarded as sexy sometimes, and fat = ugly), then stop looking up to Korean idols if it makes you feel bad about yourself.

You shouldn't have to change for these idols, I only know of Koreans and other East/South East Asians who bleach their skin or go on extreme diets to fit the ideal, but thats because they live there and the pressures to be this way are much greater. Westerners don't face the same pressure, rather they're pushed to love themselves as they are, thats why there are all these fat acceptance movements and loving your dark skin movements since there are millions who live in western countries who are dark as fuck and not just a tiny minority.

What I don't understand is, why the fuck western kpop fans feel so entitled to change koreans. That is a job for Koreans to initiate. I'm pretty sure Koreans have attempted to make changes in regard to having people not look down on darker skin and halting the sale of whitening products, but it's likely to be a very small amount of them. If the vast majority genuinely believe that lighter skin looks better on them, who are these westerners to tell them that they have to stop and look the way that they, the westerner, finds attractive. You're not doing them any favors. Even if they're skin is naturally darker, if they feel they're making themselves look better, let them. Western fans have to remember that some things aren't regarded the same way country to country.

As much as westerns get ps, it's still considered extreme and looked down on just to feel better about yourself. People have said time and time again that Koreans don't look at ps the same way, they see it as you just improving your appearance, the same way you would dye or cut your hair, put on makeup or lose weight.

Dark skin is also not regarded the same on Koreans as it is on black people. Koreans know you're black (yeah, some don't and ask if you can rub the color off, but I'm referring to those that do), so they know you can't help your skin color and once they get past that, they can't judge you on it. They're not going to judge you on the same basis they do other Koreans, they're much harsher on their own because they have higher standards for them being that they know what is acceptable and what isn't. Fat is fat in most places, so that will be looked down on, Korean or not.

It's fucked up how westerners look at kpop celebrities and then want to change every aspect about them so that they basically have the personality of sjw, tumblr using American teens. America itself isn't like that, why try and make Korea like that just because you're a fan/consumer of their products? They don't owe you anything.

Anyway, that was my very long rant to issues involving kpop, and finally got that off my chest after yrs of holding it in. This topic definitely belongs in the tumblr or bronzebuns thread though, or just move it to /b.

c'mon now, you know better than that

The n word is not simply a word, it's used as a descriptor. You are treated based on the connotations of this label.

Fag is meant to be a derogatory term used towards homosexuals, letting you know that there are people who think being a gay is wrong. This also lets you know these people likely won't treat them well. If you as a gay person is called a fag, you know you're likely not going to receive equal treatment from this person as they would a straight person.

Also please note I do not mean fag in the way some people use it now, thinking it means stupid, as do some people on this site. Same with the n word.

they don't say n_gger though, they say n_gga, which has two completely different connotations, the latter of which is meant as a form of unity.

N_gger is used as a form of oppression, but if they're going to be recognized by that term, they're going to turn it around and let themselves be recognized by each other as brethren by using n_gga, as >>132736 said. It's a word for them to use with each other.

Besides, rap wasn't initially made by blacks for others to learn from and use against them. If you listen to the first couple of years in the era of rap, much of it was talking about the oppression they still faced. While the music is available for anyone to write, much of what is written about is only relative to other black people.

Thats why so many people don't understand the supposed gangster things they see in rap videos (yet they understand mafia movies perfectly fine). Consume it if you want, but if you don't understand it, don't get mad at blacks because the message really isn't for you.

Tupac even had a song titled "strictly for my n_ggas", and people think he means that word derogatorily? Please.

Anyway, why would people want to use these words anyway? There is no reason to use the n_gger unless you're a racist. (and I know I have to point this out again because people don't fucking remember, but nigga and n_gger are different, the former to be used only by those who want to use that word as a form of empowerment among themselves, the latter to be used by anyone but who should be aware of the repercussions that come from using it because the person you used it against knows that you going to treat them unfairly.)

Its like saying you're not being pc because you're calling someone inferior or wrong for being who they are/something they can't help. While that may not be a problem for you on its own, words are usually not just words and they imply your feelings towards something.

If you constantly refer to gay people as fags and treat them like crap, it's not a simple matter of you not being pc but being a homphobe. If the word was just used without any negative treatment towards the person its used against, it would remain just that a word.

One bit of constant bullshit you get from easily offended young Americans is this idea that it's wrong to "sexualize" KPOP stars.
http://offensivekpop.tumblr.com/post/119878395369/ttaegi-pledis-group-seventeen-is-going-to-be
Idols are packaged to be sexy, even the little debut puppies. Posts about sexulizing pop stars are ridiculous. And, just because adult entertainment is restricted to those 20 or older in Korea, be assured that people in their late teens are already sexual. Tumblr goofballs who "ship" pairs of idols aren't the source of the idols' sexual energies.

honestly thats the most ridiculous aspect of kpop to be upset about, considering the age of the stars and who their target audience is

thats why the youngest kpop stars usually debut at around 14-15 even if they were prepared prior to that point because there will be other members usually older than them that have loads of sex appeal

the young idols themselves have to match that somewhat

also, the majority of fans aren't all prepubescent kids, they're teens who look up to this

as wrong as someone thinks it is, the largest market for sex in the U.S. are not even teens, its preteens, and then young teens

I wont knock them and say its wrong to sexualize a 14 or 15 yr old, especially considering how many adult men/women will want to fap to them or stalk them, etc because I do think it's fucked up. However, its not to the extent that they need to be wearing burkas to make up for it. If they think its wrong they shouldn't support young groups then.

How does Tumblr let this shit fly when they're so against ""cultural appropriation""? You see Iggy Azalea's ass getting dragged left and right, but K-Pop and its fandom are allowed to go free. There's no "different" cultural context, either. K-Pop idols/producers aren't stupid or naive, they know exactly what they're doing. So, they're already "sexualized" and their sexuality is completely normal. Explain what you find to be so "fucked up" about that. A majority of human adults can easily feel that people in their late teens or early 20s are attractive. There's no news there. Anyone who talks generally about "teens" is a kind of idiot. Young teens are like reaching the end of childhood. They're clearly on the kid side. Older teens are like young adults. If you're talking about sexuality and teens, you have to be specific. If you don't specify, then you're probably trying to confuse the topic and twist the conversation. Almost everyone can agree that sexualizing young teens really is disgusting. At the same time, though, almost everyone will recognize that older teens are hyper-sexualized in all media. These are two very different topics. If you deliberately try to amalgamate the two age groups into one big group of "teens," then you must know that you're pushing some kind of false view.

Come to think of it, why isn't Eminem being shit on for cultural appropriation? Is it just a sexist thing?

No. 133161

How about this? Put ages 16 and 17 aside as the transitional ages. We can probably all agree that sexualizing kids 15 and younger is twisted, weird, abnormal. By contrast, sexualizing young adults aged 18 or 19 is common, almost a norm. The debate is really in the 16-17 range. When KPOP houses promote kids 16 and younger, it creates problems. Seventeen (and sexy) is kind of the edge between socially acceptable and not acceptable. I think it's wrong to tell young adults at that age that their desires are "bad" or "gross" or anything like that. Some people won't like seeing 17-year-olds as objects, though. That's understandable.

The black woman in the MV is their choreographer and choreographed the entire leash scene so she step off with that. Also white girls have been in every Big Bang MV since they started getting popular in the West. Also I sincerely doubt Big Bang is the only musical group in the history of the world to use lyrics like that. What the fuck would music sound like if it was all anti racist/sexist/misgonyistic/etc. it would just be sounds.
>don't fetishize black culture
>lol white girls with no asses
you can't pick and choose.

If they’re easily and quietly offended, like, to themselves, that ain’t no hanging matter. Ain’t no capital crime. This thread is about those who are easily offended in an active, strident, meddlesome way.

The only thing thats creepy is grown women being interested to idols that are 16 and under, and I mean in a sexually explicit way. Like when Zelo was starting out in B.A.P. he was 15 and grown women were saying they wanted to fuck him.

yet people here bash 16 years olds for looking "slutty"

Do you also think sexualizing women that look like children (face and body) and act like children (aka j-pop idols) is okay too?

Wait, what?? In a conversation about teen sexuality, you’re going to conveniently raise the case of asexuals just to score argumentative points? Do we really have to include ALL sexual diversity in every fucking post?? Okay, there does exist an asexual minority, but the point that humans are naturally sexual still stands. We don’t need to be PC little pussies in order to offer each other some valid truths here and there. If everyone were asexual you wouldn’t even exist. So you and your precious little asexual friends can all go fuck yourselves. (Good joke, right?)

Here, we can make your argument more plausible with just a few edits, as follows:

> "You create the conditions that affect your reality. Good or bad. The conditions you create play a role (along with causes and conditions of everything that arises in your experience) in making it so. I don't understand what your deal is. Are you one of those people who harass asexuals or something? Their experience is theirs, yours is yours. What do you really know about the realities they face? Get the funk over the fact that some people are different from you."

It always seems like white girls are the ones that they break up with or are just sleeping with in videos. Usually it's the Korean models who get the "romance stuff" in their videos. Sober was the first time I saw one of them get all gushy gushy over a white girl.

I think GD just has a white/foreign girl attraction. Even his rumored gf is white/Japanese. Ain't nothing wrong with being into a certain race. Doesn't make them racist or "putting white girls on a pedestal."

I think this person was just jelly tbh

I understand that people are attracted to certain races more than others. If a white dude likes banging asian chicks and he is still respectable, then all the power to him. Same vice versa. If an asian dude wants to bang white chicks and he's not just trying the whole "white horse" thing to seem cool with his friends, then I really couldn't care less. Don't speak on my behalf.
