Shes done this historically when these big emotional moments have happened, remember the whole thing with Ash? Her behavior is so self destructive at this point in her life, sad to say but you can see how this will end. I will assure you the proceedings will almost certainly be closed. Ohio recently changed how rape is defined (dividing into Rape/Sexual Battery) and also introduced the Shielding Law that prevents past assaults being admissible in whole or part. maddie wisely lobbied the DA/Prosecutor assigned to have the statement of fact and complaint sealed. With this approved that clears the way to do the same for most all else with the exception of sentencing of course. She can have the proceedings closed to the public. Judge's, elected officials, are not in the business of pushing back on these kinds of requests.

As the DA was instructed per maddie to lobby to seal the statement of fact and complaint as filed, it would be unthinkable the proceedings, even arraignment would be open to the public, let alone broadcast.
Legalfag again, the 17th is the arraignment date, so JL will face the two charges and his response becomes a matter of court record. Not Guilty, Guilty, or No contest. More than likely his defense attorney even if state assigned would enter a plea of Not Guilty and wait to change until post preliminary hearing. It would be surprising, but not unheard of for him to plead guilty at the arraignment. The PH is a formality, there is an abundance of evidence to further the case. The PH is where the evidence will be further reviewed by JL's defense attorney and then between them and Prosecutor a debate ensues as to if a plea makes sense.
This is a fascinating case as its rare an accuser has this weak of a standing. Maddie has publicly told this same story multiple times and has confessed online to prostitution. Again, the Shield Law prevents past assaults from being brought up, but issues of character are certainly fair game.
My first official prediction, Not Guilty Plea at Arraignment.
