Decided to check up on her again and:
"Throwback to how you handle losing part of a finger. Is it strange I repainted the nail and put the mummified part in a keychain jar? 😅 It's been several years and I still have it. Hey, I couldn't throw it away. I used to be pretty attached to it. It was in dry gangrene necrosis for a solid year before it came off. It did get loosened early when I accidentally smacked it on my desk. After work when I went to sleep it must have agitated me because when I woke up there was dried blood all over my lap and I still had the piece of finger in my hand from snapping it off. Im semi surprised I slept through removing it. The blood was dry and so was the exposed bone, so it must have happened quite a while before I woke up. The only up side to it was having an excuse to wear unique jewelry. I honestly wish more was gone. Id rather have the entire finger gone than just 1/3rd of it. I haven't found doctors interested in amputating the rest just for appearance sake… it may be up to me to do one day. Its not out of the question… I've pulled two back molars when I was a teenager for cosmetic dental reasons (make room in my mouth so they didn't have to extend my braces all the way back- they were just in front). I certainly didn't want that. I made sure it didn't happen and made the room myself. This would be an amputation though. I want it done so badly, and I do have the ability to handle it, but I dont have the right tools or aftercare. My medical knowledge is definitely lacking when it comes to how to handle separating knuckles. I imagine bone is to be avoided. I did the teeth with old pliers from my dads toolbox lol I didnt have the right supplies then either (I was a young, dont make fun of me for handling it in such a crude way. I did the best with what I had access to). People do have this happen often in other countries and they seem to do fine with it. In Japan they even make prosthetic pinkies because so many men have lost them."
