The gift finder could use some work but it should be very handy when it's fine-tuned. As it is, it suggests you give your villagers some things that won't impress them at all.

thx!

>>88657
I agree that it can use some work, but this 'gift finder' is still pretty new so idm that. I think it was made a week or two ago.

What do you anons think about all the ridiclious Raymond hype? I think he is very much overrated and there are many better (and unique) cat villagers than him. I personally would rather have Ankha and Felicity rather than having him around. Ironically enough he is my first ever campsiter, but I still don't care about him. Even got Bob from island hunting and developed a soft spot for him.

Also, it bummed me out how we never got to see Blanca in New Horizons even though she was supposed to come on 1st april. I hope they will manage to bring her at least next year…

Cat villagers are my favorite and I wanted Raymond but the insane hype for him has honestly killed my interest. Still missing a smug villager though so I definitely would invite him if I encountered him on an island or in my campsite.

Anons how do I get peaches and pears? I can't visit other islands because it is not available in my region (Nintendo membership) and I have been playing this game solo the entire time just fine. I just want all the fruits

i was wondering, would any of you be interested in an acnh discord server just for us? i feel like most of us are pretty chill about the game. personally i'm terrified of letting people on my island because everyone has these super polished cottagecore islands (/carbon copies) while mine just isn't like that at all. not to mention the rampant overpricing of items on nookazon.

(i've never made a server before though so this is just me interest checking)

I think you can only get max. two new fruits (exc. coconuts) from Nook islands. And no one's sure about that; it might be only one new fruit from an island and one from your mom.

In the old games if you sent villagers fruit, they'd sometimes send you new fruit in return. That's worth a try.

Kidd is my favorite smug character so he’s not a big deal to me. I thought it was pretty funny that people are starting to make jokes about how over the top people are about him, like that Raymond in Boxes stage play tweet.

It’s just crazy how monetized AC has become though, I would have never imagined it would get this bad with people with fake and real currency.

tbh I've been wanting a small-ish chill acnh group that's 18+. I feel weird that it's possible I'm interacting with 14 year olds online hahah. There's a healthcare workers group on fb I thought of joining for that, but it's prob just a big nursing circlejerk. and the 18+ fb group has "don't be easilly offended" multiple times in their group rules and comes across as a bunch of edgy tryhards.

Raymond is just the new Marshall tbh. It's funny how the game is repeating itself. If I find Raymond I'm definitely auctioning him off. After I got and sold Marshall in new leaf my town was so nice.

I have raymond on my island. I got him as my first campsite villager before I knew about all the hype surrounding him and thought he looked interesting. At first I was meh about him because his office look didn't really match my general island idea but I thought it was funny. I still like him just cause he's one of my OGs, but the fanaticism around him is really off-putting. Out of all the new villagers, I really want Audie. Or any wolf/dog villager, but damn I love Audie, she’s so cute. I’ve basically resigned myself from searching for specific villagers when it’s time to replace one, I usually just go for a specific personality type (that isn’t an animal I already have) just to have variety on my island. I’ll probably have to trade for Audie, but I don’t want to deal with the hassle, so whatever lol.

Bubbles moved out so I needed a new peppy to fill her space and Audie would’ve been great but I just found Tutu and don’t have a bear villager yet so it works out. Tutu’s cute!

I have a potentially dumb question if any farmers are experienced flower-breeders? I can't figure out how to phrase it for google.

I've been taking all my hybrid flowers and planting them together in a checkerboard pattern to try to breed more- can the hybrids create more flowers or do I just need to rely on the basic flowers to create more?

Attached pic in case I'm not making sense

yeah you can get hybrids from hybrids anon. I'm not sure if like blue/gold roses do it but I've gotten pink roses that way.

No. 88849

>>88837
You can get hybrids from seed flowers, and can clone hybrids (I’m not experienced in this but I see people clone by sticking flowers next to each other, next to flowers they cannot breed with (ie sticking pink roses, pink lillies, and pink cosmos all next to each other, not near other roses, lillies, or cosmos. You have a chance of these three flowers cloning in that exact color). Here’s a more detailed flower breeding guide based on datamined info https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ARIQCUc5YVEd01D7jtJT9EEJF45m07NXhAm4fOpNvCs/mobilebasic

There’s also updated and new easier to digest picture guides, but they’re always hard for me to find because they get mixed in with the ones for the old games (that don’t apply to NH since the breeding mechanics are completely different). Good luck anon!

No. 88858

>>88857
Villagers cycle through outfits but tend to wear the things they like/fit their personal style more. Sometimes you'll see them twirl around and change clothes twice on their walk from home to the square.
It also means they won't wear things they aren't crazy about more often than the first day, if there are other options.

The fighting over "popular" villagers has been a problem as long as AC has had internet capabilities– the problem is just really pronounced now because the game is more popular than ever before. wait…why did they ever reduce the number of villagers? I think an ideal system would be a "natural cap" at 10 (like how in NL at any given time you will end up with 10 villagers as the game always replaces them if you go below that) and then the option to have 5 more on your island, and the extra ones have no bearing on your island rating etc.

Maybe even as a reward for players who have had a 5 star for a while. If they can do 15 in the gamecube version, surely the switch can handle 5 more.

some players in the NH community need to get out of their weird competitive mindset. people are only salty because they think that other people havent had to "work" as hard as them to make their island nice…literally who cares about other people's islands? I swear once upon a time this game was relaxing and fun, its not a race and any "cheating" is inconsequential to other players.

Really? the people I've seen salty over duplication glitches all have valid reasons to be: most notability that it blows up the NH economy. Now people can ask for insanely high prices for villager or item trades, for selling spare diy recipes, for hybrid flowers or even just to catalogue items. It happened each time a new dup glitch was found and abused, and it always takes a good few weeks for those prices to drop to anything reasonable a player who hasn't duped can afford. Sure, they could just ignore it, but it's very difficult to convince people to lower prices to something 'fair' when their mates have sold a western stone diy for 100 NMTs. It basically ruins online trading in communities, so it's not a case of dupers doing this in isolation to their island, it's a case of them fucking up online trading prices for a lot of players.

Anyway, Nintendo is fully aware of the glitch and it will probably patched very soon. It’s just a matter of when.

Yes but i think it's a little more than patience and delayed gratification when at most it could take almost 15 years to complete an art exhibit in a game (considering the "without time traveling or nintendo online" example). that was my point, that the delayed gratification for the other exhibits would at minimum be around 1 year, while the art exhibit at maximum could be 15. but i do agree with your point that not everything needs to be completed right away, just the rate for art is a bit…jarring imo

if you are doing the mail dupe glitch by yourself, you will need 3 human villagers. i have tried it with just two and it will not dupe.
i found this video here that has not been blocked that made the most clear and concise sense.
>mail letters w gifts to 2nd villager
>load in 2nd villager, walk into residents services to refresh mail box.
>(this is the timed part) make 2nd villager leader, open mail box, and take presents. immediately make your main villager the leader after doing this before the game auto saves (about 5 minutes)
>switch to 3rd villager (if you do not switch to 3rd villager, it will not work!)
>after switching to 3rd villager, re-switch to your 2nd villager and check mailbox. should have duped presents.
i hope this made sense. 3rd villager acts as a transition i guess, it's mostly the main and 2nd villagers "doing all the work." this has already been said but make sure to turn off auto updates until you're done. it's a bit time consuming but once you get into the groove it's not bad.

I like the lazy dialogue in PC and NL better than the lazy dialogue in NH.

Anyway it cracks me up when Lucky says pic related. Like it's normal for other lazies but for Lucky it sort of implies that he's eating dead people, since his house is a graveyard. Although he is a dog, so maybe he's just chewing on the bones.

Also the smug dialogue is the best in PC imo.

yeah they were pretty rare, i have used hundreds of nmts and have only gotten two hybrid flower islands. honestly what's even the point of the mystery islands if they've nerfed everything that was exciting about them? didn't they nuke the tarantula/scorpion island rates too? only reason to go to them now is for farming extra materials or villagers. they were so hyped up to be this huge exciting part of the game but what's even great about them anymore? i forget about them until i have a villager move out. they could've utilized the mystery islands so much better. i feel like they really went the lazy route on a lot of this game. don't get me wrong its a great game but you start to notice some things…

No. 90814

>>90799
Pretty much everything you said. This is a tangent but speaking of lazy, it's really killing me how not interactive most of the furniture/decorations are. Look at something cash-grabby like Pocket Camp where villagers will play with things in fun ways. In NH, we're lucky if they even glance at the swimming pool they're waddling past.

tl;dr when you play too much, the seams begin to show

Sucks how I got bored after a month and a half of playing.

I dont even feel that guilty on kicking out my villagers in this game, because their dialogues are the same / repetitive. The game feels way too souless, as if its only all about terraforming and getting villagers that fit your ~ aesthetic ~.

No. 90957

I agree. This game is boring compared to the rest. Terraforming is implemented awfully (why not let us terraform with a bird's eye view?) and all of the villagers are just so bland and boring. I'd rather have good written dialog with not much else to do rather than NH. There's nothing enjoyable in it for me.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one complaining about the horrible RNG. It's like they purposely made catching rare or even uncommon bugs and fish.

Also why are all the tree beetles so fucking impossible to catch? They're hard to see and once you get close enough that your eyes register the shape of a bug, they fly away. The fish are stupid AF, you have to literally throw your line directly in the fish's POV. Why can't the islands be awesome like they were in NL? I want to sell tropical fish, where are the sharks and rays? The fishing puns suck and Jesus Christ too many sea basses, you get cooler stuff in the pond. /Rant

i felt this anon. i'm not even one of those OGs that's mad about them bringing in new characters to replace old ones. i think its great! we've had the same characters the entirety of the series so i think getting some new and different ones was interesting. however, they have absolutely no storyline or backstory. and if they did it was either so boring and irrelevant i forgot about it or it wasn't explicitly said in the game. like where tf did flick and c.j. come from? label's story was so boring compared to gracie's. there's barely any storyline or ""magic"" to this game, which i know that's not what it's about but many of the previous characters in the games had them. i really hate that they focused so much on making this game fan pandered for all of those who wanted complete control over their town and nothing more.

They got rid of most the original furniture for no discernable reason, there are no gyroids, no deep sea creatures (diving was one of my favorite activities, so that's a big bummer) and from what I can tell, the game is grindier now. Also, the game still has the stupid system where all users have to share the same island, except worse. On the GameCube, you had to buy a new memory card to make a second town. Then in NL you had to buy a second copy of the game. Now it's reached it's logical extreme– one town per console, which is just criminal. What are they going to do next game? Have one town per zip code?

I don't even know if this is true but it really feels grindier. There is a single solitary token gyroid so far though. Seeing him means you're either going to time travel or you don't mind waiting.

Same, I loved NL and I love NH now. For me the customisation and decorating has always been my favorite parts of ac so I love NH and terraforming and trading etc. But I guess if you value dialogue from npc's over actually doing stuff, maybe the older games would be better. (Although I don't even think that's fair cause I get asked to play games and do favors for villagers a couple times a day lol)

Either way OP, it's a fun game and I recommend it. Every game has it's flaws but we know there will be more updates in the future.

No. 92553

I find it baffling that people say the dialogue is better in NL. I literally just opened NL and they say the same dumb one-liners just like NH. Everyone's acting like they had these deep long conversations with their villagers. Also, although NH's dialogue is repetitive, the stuff they say has more 'bite' to it. Like I've had villagers say actually rude stuff to me, unlike NL where the villagers were basically lobotomised.

It's true that NL had more errands, time capsules, visiting houses etc. but honestly that always got annoying for me after the first couple times. Like… I have other stuff to do lol.

Any farmers have problems with villagers from friends' islands moving into open plots rather than brand new villagers? I talked to a friend once on another friend's island a month ago and just today I got one of her villagers moving in to my open plot even though I've never been on her island or interacted with any of her villagers! Same thing happened with another friend's villager a few weeks ago, though tbf I did talk to the villager once (not when he was moving though). I don't really want the rest of my incoming villagers to all be rejects from my friends' islands, but they cycle through villagers really fast so I'm afraid it might be the case in the future.

I guess I lucked out because one of them was Zucker, but the other villager I got was Chops…

I need some things to get off my chest. While I already spend a good amount of time with this game because I like it enough to return to it for a good while each day, I feel like you are very limited and some things are super annoying.

I'm currently in the "decoration phase" of my island after surviving the terraforming hell and I feel like you don't really have a lot of stuff you can put on your island. Idk why but despise more options, you are really stuck and I feel like I end up using the same items over and over again because there isn't much variation to begin with. I already posted about this but the absolute lack of different furniture series is the absolute worst. While I wanted to go with the forest type of island since the beginning, I kind don't have much to do something like this. Like yeah, you have plants with different colored flowerpots, but why not adding MORE different type of plants or idk other decoration stuff. And then it's a pain in the ass to get all DIYs and you can only order 5 items from the nookshop, like why not more? I get that they want you to craft more but how can I craft more when the most needed materials like wood are super rare? And some shit can't be crafted but I would like to have more of it than five pieces? I also know that the answer here is trading but fuck, you end up doing everything else than actually spending time with your island, which is already super time consuming, especially when you have to work and have a life outside of this game. I know this is super whiny but ugh I can't help but feel a bit frustrated at times.

Another thing is: I still do not understand the fact that there is only ONE type of street light? In NL we had some many different ones, which helped you when you wanted to go with a special theme for your town. Now I feel like so many other people have similar islands like me because we only have that bit of stuff to create with AND NO I do not want different colors ffs lol

And the last thing: Why isn't it there separated storage units for materials, furniture and clothes? I do hoard lots of clothes in AC, so you can imagine that most of my storage is full with clothes and materials have to lie around on my island like it is a huge garage sale idk where to put it lmao

No. 95832

>>95830
The storage in this game is the worst. I wish they fixed it by giving you more options for it. the terraforming definitely feels limited, especially since we cant put up walls or rugs outside, so it's a huge amount we cant do. I'm honestly so bored with this game. So much of it feels unfinished.

No. 95833

>>95830
You can tell even the people who designed the villager homes slammed up against the lack of decorations.
Muffy's house from New Leaf to New Horizons being a big but not the only example.

T H I S as well. Like why? I would like to know the reason why they thought "uhm no, no rugs outside". And why no wall decoration on the outside as well? I do not have enough wall in my house for all the wedding flower pieces I ordered from the wedding event lol

>>95833

I honestly do not use the wands tbh

Another thing I forgot to add is the fact that you are limited when it comes to expand your house. Like in NL I could choose which room needed to be bigger or add rooms/basement/attic as I pleased.

The first days are the best spend with collecting as much stuff and materials as possible. Get so many nookmiles as you can, pay off your house with them and collect everything you can get. You will need all of this to make later much faster progress because you'll get DIY's that need a lot of materials. And of course make as much $$$ as you can because buying shit is hella expensive in this game.

I hope you will have a fun time with this game!

You might want to wait until after you've had your first five villagers to get your dreamies, because the first 5 villagers all have lame basic houses. I'm glad I did this because my favorite villager's house is really nostalgic to me.
Also pay attention to what kind of river mouths/secret beach you get, cause you can't terraform either of these. And reset for the airport color you want if you don't want to trade.

Dream codes in NL made themed islands a bit easier since you could lock it to a certain time/weather pattern. Plus once you were happy with it you could just save the code and do something different with your town. I feel like there's less incentive to do things like horror islands because you have to invite people in order for them to see it. Just posting pics/video doesn't really have the same appeal as exploring for yourself, and any items/clothing have to be replaced manually each visit whereas dream codes always reset to the same point.

That said, I'm sure there'll be a lot more horror islands popping up as halloween rolls around. Sucks that pocket camp gets way cooler stuff though, you'd think they'd have ported it into NH.

Someone needs to hold my hand right now because I feel like I'm in the situation that I feared the most about playing animal crossing NH. Despise being super careful with my switch since release day, I've had one clumsy moment on sunday where my switch a fell from the lil switch stand that I have. Nothing big but enough to mess up switch until the point that I couldn't start ANY game. After restarting the console a few times and maybe a few times more the game itself, I was able to play it again. One time it crashed but it worked. Now I guess that this lil fall caused some sort of damage within the switch, which of course would be a case to send it to repair. BUT as well all know here is that AC it the game that WON'T let you transfer or use the cloud save. They said it would be released later the year, but how much later are we talking about? It's been almost three months (damn, time flies) since it was released but nothing on that matter was mentioned ever since. I'm currently nearing 200 hours in that game and finally at the point where is see progress and I just scored my fave villager yesterday but it could be lost as soon I want to get my switch fixed. I'm so angry right now that they provide us player absolute NO security in that game, especially in the franchise that is that time consuming. Now I can only pray that my switch will make it until the provide the promised cloud save, but why not since day one??? I'm just … UGH you feel me? Any anons who have/had a similar experience?

I miss the ninty days where you could just blow into the the cardrige space and it worked again lol cries

I'm not even sure why they're so hard-headed about the cloud saves for NH. At first they weren't going to include it at all, then they backtracked slightly after receiving some backlash. Nintendo is absolutely garbage and it if wasn't for a few good IPs and brainless gamers, they'd be out of business. No. 96268

>>96241

I'm the anon who complained about this problem yesterday and I researched why there no cloud save option and the main reason is:"due to cheating and duplication concerns".

I also came across this interview where Nogami mentions this:

>So right now we're trying to give users two types of function. The first thing is, when the users lose or break their Switch, then we will provide a backup save data that was saved on the server. And then the second one is when the user buys a new Nintendo Switch, then we will transfer that account for them. For the data transfer for new Switch purchases, there are two ways. The first one is to transfer the entire island data onto the new Switch. And then the second method is to extract one of the players that are living on the island, and extract that player's save data onto the new Switch hardware. In your case, since you have two Switches, it's basically considered that you have two separate islands and two separate save data on each of the Switch that you own.

Full thing here: https://www.cnet.com/news/youre-not-crazy-tom-nook-is-nicer-in-animal-crossing-new-horizons/

So in the first sentence he mentions "backup save data" when you loose or break your switch, which of course will only happen when you get Nintendo Online, but what he does not mention is the fact that you can only recover your island ONE time. So if it happens a second time to you, well then it's def game over for your game.

Just reading about all the ways Nintendo has dicked people over in NH further encourages me to hack the game, ban risk be damned. Back in the day I used to hack NL on my 2DS, but hacking has become considerably more risky.

Basically Nintendo has flagged Homebrew (the jailbreak people typically use to download save editors) as piracy software and is banhammering any systems it detects it on. So, you either have to either buy a burner console, or install a bunch of shit on your prime console and avoid going online as much as possible.

That autist on Twitter giving shitloads of free Raymonds away inspired me, though. Once I figure out a way to do save edits on NH without high risk of a ban, I'm immediately going to exploit it to give people free shit. I've got a friend IRL who's working on the same thing. There truly came a point where, since I no longer had to grind anymore, I didn’t give a shit for selling rare or high value diys or items for money. Of course, I’m not everyone, but I enjoy being a part of the community that just wants to help people out by freely being able to give new players lots of bells or NMTs. There’s really no easy way to grind for bells in this game, and if I didn’t have the time that quarantine afforded me or exploits to help me, I’d definitely still be stuck in the unenjoyable grind of the game. The only thing I’ve earned fair and square is my 300k miles, and that’s mostly from grinding through god knows how many fucking + tasks each day. Start small. Think of an area you'd like, maybe a flower garden or a fruit orchard, or even a little public beach with towels, chairs and so on. Things like this won't require you to move buildings and wait (if you don't time travel) for the result.
You'll probably get new ideas while you're working on your project, and that's a good way to advance if you feel like it.

Even the small stuff seems stupidly intimidating at first but you'll really be happier with your island once you get started.

As the other anon said, start small. I started with a main street, from there I planned out every other part of the island. Make a sketch with a rough idea how things will look like, maybe write down some key-words for what kind of theme you are going. Make small steps, work on lil areas one by one than all it once because it will overwhelm you real quick. You will get more ideas the more you work on your island. You will see what works or what may look even better than you originally planned. I know it will look ugly for a while but at some point you will get over this and you will just know what to do with your island.

Just farm the shit out of him anon. I do it for a few hours whenever he visits and have half my museum completed.

It's also really annoying because you can't buy from him twice on the same day, even if from someone else's island. It's so fucking annoying if a friend and I have Redd with extra genuine pieces but neither of us can get them. What the fuck! I can buy from literally any other seller on a friend's island, why not Redd? Why do they have to make art collecting extra difficult? People sell some genuine pieces for a crazy amount of money because of it lol. They thought TTing/duplicating was ruining the game's economy? Look at what making art collecting difficult has done lol.

What do you think is the ideal number of villagers to have on an island? I know that you can have a maximum of 10 villagers and that you need 8 for a three star island, but just out of curiosity- how many villagers do you think is the golden number for an island? I have nine right now and I already feel like it’s a bit much, but I’ve heard other AC players complain about the ten-villager maximum and even wish that they could have more!

No. 98129

>>98125
To be honest purely because of the personalities being less varied, I would probably be happy with just one of each type (so 8 I guess). For this game I’m basically just picking villagers by the ones I liked the most from previous games or the ones I like aesthetically

No. 98136

8 would also be perfect because I occasionally get tired of hunting down villagers. The island isn't huge so where the hell did you go this time?

Also, I have mentioned this before but there is this thing called MeteoNook that can give you the weather forecast for your island including the exact hour, minute and second your stars will start spawning if you will have any on that day once you find your island's pattern. Maybe try that so you can have an easier time? I know before I got my island's pattern I would just put the earphones on at night to find if I heard anything. And if I did I would not want to go to sleep because I just didn't know when the next stars could come. Is anyone else here kind of sick of New Horizons? I only play it out of obligation at this point, seeing as I bought a Switch lite for it. I started out in the AC franchise with Wild World and I’d much rather be playing that than NH.

No. 99162

>>99135
Yeah me too. I can’t exactly pinpoint it but I think I liked the old ones way better because
- I didn’t have access to internet when the first one came out so I never got spoiled with anything, I always discovered new cool things by myself. Now with everyone TTing to the max and trading, I just feel like I’ve seen everything (though I’m not salty about how other people play)
- I feel like the game came with less things than even the very first game, and sure they’re adding more content but it feels very empty? Especially the characters’ dialogues and personalities.
- Old mechanics have been recycled so much that there’s no wonder or excitement, Like there’s still Gulliver, letters from mom, snowmen in winter. Even the islands doesn’t feel like a new upgrade, I really don’t get the appeal of it since it offers no new ressources and they nerfed the Scorpio and tarantulas appearance rate. I have a shit ton of Nook Miles cause I’m done buying all the stuff you can order and never bother with the islands.

No. 99170

me too, what I have been doing is not playing for a week then playing each day by tt'ing all at once. For me, the character dialogue is what kills it. I like the gameplay itself it's nice to play when I'm stressed with real life but since quarantine and I don't have much to do the value isn't really there.

Do you think it might be because most of us are older now? I feel like younger me wouldn't even mind the slow drip feed of content in New Horizons so much, but the whole thing feels like a slog most of the time. Like age has taken the charm out of the pointless but relaxing game, now it's just aggressively pointless.

I kind of envy people who get to play this as their first AC experience because it's probably great until you hit a personal wall, whatever it might be.

No. 99392

Decoration tools (and terraforming) are shitty and the game lacks a lot of QoL features that are frankly a necessity in this day and age. Why would I bust my ass trying to work with NH's shitty tile-based placement tools when The Sims 4 lets me make cute environments with ease? If it's gonna scratch the decoration itch then it needs to catch up in UI.

Even worse is if you're in it for the cute villagers. It's true that they have new animations that make them feel more alive when observed but when you go up to them and speak, that illusion is immediately broken. Also, if you spent about a month playing even those "neat little details" in their daily lives get samey. They should have done more work on making villagers feel alive.

Overall it's a pleasant, pretty, but extremely flawed game. Even as a kid I wouldn't have put up with it when there are games that offer these social or building elements in a more polished way.

No. 99403

>>99392
I also don’t think this game would have drawn me in when I was younger. It doesn’t have the comforting vibe of the older games, it feels like a chore. The problems with the QoL features really do impact my enjoyment too, it feels like half the game I’m running back to my house for supplies, replacing tools, digging up and selling flowers or crafting fish bait one-by-one. I love seeing the cute villager animations and they interact more now but it seems like the only way to get their pictures is by gifting them stuff. And the dialogue I’m getting now doesn’t seem any more complex or interesting than the dialogue I started with.

I‘m happy for this update but also… this is all stuff which is not new or which should have been there from the start (i.e. the save backup). I’m hoping they’ll actually add genuinely new content once they‘ve completed these base game events.

No. 101478

It feels like anything genuinely new isn't going to come in a free update. Depending what they come up with and the DLC price, I'm fine with that.

Whilst this all looks cute, it won't mean anything to me if the dialogue for the villagers don't change. I stopped playing because every time I went on they said the exact same stuff every time and it felt like my character was trapped in some sort of time loop. I hope they do a dialogue update in some way.

idk I feel like dlc is inevitable at this point. but it's hard to imagine what would be in it since the base game still needs a lot of updates.

No. 101595

I started ACNH like 10 days ago and while I'm enjoying it so far it does feel like the developers took one step forward and two steps backward. It's cool that you can customize your island way more easily than in ACNL instead of waiting by some kind of miracle that a villager asks you to create a specific kind of bridge, but the dialogue are even more barebone than in ACNL and crafting tools over and over again to do some of the most basic shit like fishing or catching bugs is awful. No wonder new fans think Animal Crossing is a cute wholesome innocent uwu franchise, they'll never see villagers have an actual personality, shit talking each others and treating you like garbage until you actually get close to them like in Wild World.

Also, the crafting/farming resources features are good in theory but it takes so much time to have more freedom that I just had to time travel at some point. I never felt that need in ACNL.

No. 101597

>>101594
The issue with paid dlc is that it couldn’t be anything like new DIY recipes, clothing or furniture since a core aspect of new horizons is trading online. Unless they managed to create some kind of trading block on them? Maybe new villagers?

No. 101598

>>101597
I wouldn't be surprised by an arbitrary block system where you people who didn't have the DLC couldn't visit the islands of or send mail to people who do have the DLC, kind of like how patch versions of the game are incompatible right now.
Guessing what Nintendo could do is always dumb. You have to figure out what makes sense as a company that the players would also enjoy, and then go way left where it barely makes sense for the company or the playerbase.

I still play daily because I have nothing better to do and enjoy the mindless fishing (even with the added craft obstacle) and sometimes it hits me how much potential there was in this game which is hindered by small things which it seems the dev team didn’t prioritise. This seriously could have been an amazing entry in the series.

Also for fucks sake why are there barely any design slots and why did they separate the clothes from everything else I don’t use pro designs ugh

No. 101645

if we're going to complain, the stupid fucking way swimwear works. Doesn't count as clothing for some reason, can't enter the Ables' changing room in a wetsuit, can't attach a wetsuit to a wand which really makes wands even more useless than they already are.

Octavian mailed me an authentic Gallant Statue in other news. Second piece of art from a villager, first was a fake. Both came from crankies which is probably a coincidence.

the reddit discord is the only one i've seen with enough users for quickest trades and things like large giveaways etc., and also having active staff and report tickets for scams
the nookazon discord isn't very active, and involves you still taking the extra step of leaving a review etc. - but i will say the website has improved greatly
i also use TBT forums, although the discord is pretty much a ghost town. the website is great for trading, giveaways, and tracking certain villagers etc. (plus feedback/rating system)
oh and turnip.exchange i think is also good for stalk market and npc visits for queues, etc., but i'm not sure if they have a discord, or if trading is even involved there

Anyways, I recommend Teacup Gang. They used to do free turnip queues but then they updated the game to change turnip prices when time traveling, so now they are just a sort of "Tips appreciated, not required" discord.

Things which would improve the game experience for me are storage based.
- Clothes storage should be in the ‘wardrobes’ not the main storage. Umbrellas, parasols, swim suits, bags etc should be in there too.

- Crafting materials should be stored in the workbenches.

-There should be enough storage space for one of each ‘not for sale from the catalog’ items. Which having the first two options might fix anyway. Yeah, hoarder, I know.

Maybe it would have been better if the creator had put up more straight fencing to make it more clear that the different parts are stand alones and not related. It was a tad confusing, and I didn't get the rating for each "village" what where the stars based on? I hate it when that happens! It took me almost 3 days to get Bob when he showed up in mine. Did you manage to get Drake? He is pretty cute! Almost al ducks are tbh

It doesn’t actually affect me bc I didn’t have them, but I think it’s kind of stupid since people have been hacking AC for so long now. Side note rant, but man the continuous updates are a blessing and a little bit of a curse. Because people are constantly expecting more, there is a loud minority in the community that is constantly whining "We're bored! Incomplete game! Fix our burnout!" every time an update comes out. Damn, it's not Nintendo's fault that you've been inside all day playing since March and "ran out of things to do" quickly. I even saw someone claim that it would take Nintendo "less than a day" to fix the things people are asking for, like more design slots. It depends how much I play this game per day (sometimes only ten minutes or hours when I do bigger projects on my island). It also made me wonder what those people do who finished their island in like three days. I remember a few days after release day, I cam across the first whole finished five star islands. Like, why? I do not judge time travelling or so but why rushing it so much? Sometimes I do get a big jealous when I see what kind of stuff they get in pocket camp but at the end of the day it's just a game to waste a bit of time.
