Hello, let's celebrate today talking about women who inspire us, our aspirations, struggles, women we love, and more!

Cute thread pic! This just reminded me that I think we had a thread like this or something similar like, 2 years ago. I have to check.

Things I hate the most about how media portrays this day:

>onlyfans discounts

>news treat troons like victims because "they're twice as oppressed!!!"
>they call everyone "feminazis"
>males bitch about how women are entitled, etc.

Thanks! I remember that thread too. I just like when threads are made year-by-year (like the holiday ones).

How was Women's Day established?

No. 1090764

>>1090746
Women went on strike in a small part of the American clothing industry, then (presumed politically motivated) the American socialists in 1909 established the day to honour the striking women and 1. Show women they can make a difference (by striking and unionizing) and 2. It got them votes.

3. Is that women really liked it and used it as a way to justify holding events and movements that would otherwise be illegal for the last 100 years, so it stuck around

Samefag, I'm not American but my country has Women's Christmas in January to "celebrate how hard women worked to server us all that food" which is ridiculously sexist, so its slowly becoming replaced with the American Women's day, which frankly I don't mind, I don't want thanks for my work I want fair pay

This
I appreciate the sentiment but how about actually CHANGING something? It's like how every site puts up banners for international women's day and then takes them down the second the clock strikes midnight, with no real changes or actual progress being made.

Oh wait they named a salad after a popular woman in some restaurant someplace that will get a documentary made about it; I guess gender issues are resolved forever!!

as much as i hate being from china and seeing how shitty the government and men treat women there, i love how hard people go there for international women's day. i've never seen any of the same hype for it in the states or europe.

Today I am very proud of the feminists in my country, Mexico. They tried to silence us and they tried to make us stop. We took the sky.

A zeppelin was seen flying in the air.
>10 WOMEN ARE KILLED EVERYDAY (FEMINICIDE)
>NONE OF THEM WILL BE FORGOTTEN

feminists from shitty countries are so fucking based

No. 1090926

The feminist marching in my country are always by libfems and they're using nonbinary pronouns for the fucking slogan already
I think last time a radfem group showed up to a protest they got attacked by a tranny
I still think the stuff they're protesting for is important tho

I'm not sure but I imagine those feminists are kinda lib and if you asked them about it they would probably say they support trans rights, are also protesting transfemicides or whatever. I don't know, I have never asked them

yeah I'm mexican and most feminists here support trannies. But honestly, even if I hate trannies, I support the feminists of my country because, after all, people killing 10 women each day in here is way more important than some tranny.

After all the bullshit we latinos go through every day you would think they would know better, but of fucking course they support men in dresses who will backstab them sooner or later. Retrasadas Y pendejas.

They’re probably just following whatever the prevailing orthodoxy is, it’s very common and isn’t limited to the West.

The thing is anon, USA is literally our neighbor, and whatever is seen as progressive there, will eventually come here and make rounds. Not everyone buys the tranny shit, but that's because we're a mysogynistic, macho patriarcal society. Feminists here see trannies as "women" "with penises" who get beaten down and treated like shit by worse, loud and violent, males. And then trannies have to resort to prostitution, so in the end they're seen as "another victim of the patriarchy", because prostitution is inherently seen as something that females do. In many cases they're also still seen as just an onset of gay males though, that suddenly decided to become women (probably because they were too flamboyant -aka, not a "real man"-and like dick).

So yeah. Our society at large still doesn't accept trannies, but I would be lying if I didn't feel scared of this tranny propaganda slowly but surely becoming super mainstream. There's shit like neo spanish pronouns that get discussed AND used dialy, sometimes in a mocking way, sometimes legitimately.

But anyways. I could be gruesomely killed in this country any second and become another statistic. So when it comes to feminism, there's obviously some things that are more important than trannies right now.

…y pues sí, hay trannies que se cuelgan del movimiento, pero que se puede hacer

NTA and correct me if i’m wrong but I would imagine there isn’t as many trannies in Mexico as we see in the US and parts of Europe, so they probably also haven’t been faced with how obnoxious they could be and believe in “true trans”. Also trannies do face violence at the hands of men in LatAm so they probably just also see them as victims, idc about LatAm trannies i’m just saying how they must see it and what i’ve heard from other latinas.
Y como anon dijo en Mexico y otras partes de Latín America las mujeres son victimas de violencia constantemente so llamando a estas mujeres valiente “retrasadas” es un poco irrespetuoso porq están sacrificándose su vida cada vez q protestan.

I honestly believe they defend trans dudes because of homophobia rather than transphobia

Yeah I think so too, everyone in my family just views them as cross dressing gay men and kind of pity them, none see them as actual women. Although in my country it was a rare occurrence to see one.

I live in a small city aka a dumb town in the middle of mexican nowhere and I don't see trannies much. However, I'm sure there's more trannies in bigger and more progressive cities, like Ciudad de México. I myself have only encountered male trannies like, twice.
