While reading about some mystery disappearance of an tourist in India, I've encountered and account of an european woman who's claimed to have lived in India with her husband for many months because of his work contract. I grew up poor, am still poor and I have a real hard time justifying paying for a single day trip via an agency, not to mention something with overnight/multi day stay.
