Soz if this has come up before (saged anyway, just in case) but i think I've found a major reason for his IRS troubles.
He's claiming 50% of his house as business plus, presumably, 100% of his other house "used for filming." Dodgy anyway (the standard use of house is usually around 10-15% and is negated if there is a separate space) but I reckon he's dodged Capital Gains Tax - admittedly I'm in the UK but I've worked in tax and it's a similar basis in the US. If you claim anything as a business write-off, there are CGT implications when you sell it. With the amount of money this idiot was making, plus the size of write-off he's claiming, the potential double-bubble AND the CGT factor, he's an absolute lunatic if he's been doing his taxes himself. Yes, tax specialists are expensive, but they still save big earners a lot of money. Difference is, they know what they are doing and how to argue their case. Sorry Grog, stroppy,,sulky videos of a house tour don't carry the same weight as "according to Section blah of Code whatever, x is allowable due to bore bore bore…."
