>>485643Depends. I usually pay attention only when it's a meme that tickles my fancy, be it funny or creative. After about 5 or so identities cycled through on the net, I have only recently come to realize that just drawing what I like solidifies the fans, rather than attracting tourists to an everchanging gallery that is struggling to stay relevant.
Probably is better to have one central autistic fixation (original or based on something else) in my opinion.

Picrel is the MC of a RPG Maker game I've been thinking about making for a while and finally forcing myself to get started. It's going to be a retelling of the Seven Little Goats but playing off the already horrific elements in the story (kind of like what the Grimms did with all their stories for no reason), very inspired by Dreaming Mary and Fausts Alptraum. Going for a much more simplified style than usual, still needs tweaking and the very ugly dress is a stand in until I figure out a nice patchwork pattern.

Hey nonnas, do you have any resources/books/videos/anything regarding color theory? I am doing a great job at using art references for anatomy and such, but everytime i try casting a light or shadows i end up feeling like i am colorblind. I get lost in all of it and i don't understand every single thing that i give up by simply adding flat colors and simplyfing my lineart. My friends told me to see light sources and shadows as shapes, but it makes no sense to me even though whenever I use references i divide everything by shape.

No. 488142
>>488136Hot-take incoming.
>or I'll end up using it as a crutchI like having a crutch. It makes that program as unique as one's favorite marker brand or type, or even like a brand of modeling clay that goes bankrupt. I always thought digital artists were held to an oddly high standard that holds similarities to our canvas counterparts.
I know this probably has nothing to do with your thrown away comment, but I hope you create beautiful works of art with this tool.before you ban yourself nona.
No. 488164
>>488136This mentality will get in your way, at what point is the line drawn? Don't flip the canvas that's too convenient of a digital tool, don't resize anything you can't do that traditionally, don't use layers there are no layers on paper.
You're already drawing digitally it's already a crutch, use every tool available to make the art you want to make and don't feel bad about it.
No. 488173
>>488164Yes and no. For advanced artists who know they're capable of doing things the long way already and have nothing to prove, it's not more noble in some moral way to make things harder for yourself. That's not the lens I'm talking through. I'm saying in practical terms as a beginner:
In simple programs you have to be a lot more conscious of what you're doing and make choices with more deliberate intention, and the choices that constraints force you to make are often more interesting. The more features on a program the more I find myself in the trap of falling into autopilot, in general a lower default level of attention/awareness of what I'm doing. Which you kind of need to do for a while before you develop that sort of intuition that means you can do it subconsciously.

I'd assume that it would have more tact overall since troons and moids would be out of the equation, and women here seem to be a lot more encouraging overall. Not to say it will detract
all negativity, it would just feel more… I don't know, mentally stable? Being able to talk about art freely without the possibility of insane coomerism driving numerous threads sounds like a dream.

>>489014I'm working on a super fancy commission sheet! Can't post here since I'm streaming it, though.
>your picrelJesus Christ nona you can't just jumpscare us with the hottest shit imaginable like that. I love the abrupt style change between the topmost panel and the others. Beautiful stuff!

>>488292Cute! This really reminds me of the older generations' art.

Crossposting from a nonna's advice. How can I practise making my sketches look like picrel? Brush recs are welcome but I'm thinking of technique.

>>489014You make flowy lineart look so effortless…
I'm dying to know what is the lore between these two?
>projects?I'm working on a manga myself, although it is more of a "first issue" for my setting. I genuinely hope it comes as good as I envision it. It will be 20 pages with the cover.
I'm getting my ass ripped apart by manga-making, but I'm really proud each time I finish another page.
>>489256Honestly? Time and practice. Understanding the underlying forms of what you're drawing is the most important, as well as studying IRL and whatever you're trying to achieve stylewise.
Sorry if this is somewhat of a generic answer, but that's pretty much it imo (though IDK if my opinion is worth a damn on that cause my initial sketches look like ass most of the time).

>>489256Continuing on with my insane ramble from the other thread, I think sepia with grey shading is part of what is needed here. Again, emphasizing the importance of practicing gesture art. The steps I'd take back then to make art of that nature are picrel. It's lineart but with a far less care put into the details. I hope this helps, nona.

CSP has some neat tools in its recent update. It reminds me of this specific tutorial from back in the tumblr days.

You get brownie points if you find the reference image I used. I haven't been able to draw lately because of work but I still wanted to shit out something nonetheless.
>>489652The way you draw skeletons itches my brain in a good way, seriously love the line weight used to give it an organic feeling. also KEK at the bulge.
>>489014Haha this is so erotic! The panel showing the shoes and underwear on the floor looks really really nice, it's a good way to transition the scene from silly to more serious.

>>489846I sure hope that isn't the case KEK
The method still checks out though; CSP hasn't been around forever. I will hold onto hope!

>>490012Ayo? Now I'm curious of the context. I adore the use of textures. I'm trying to make a comic too but I have no earthly idea of where to place textures most of the time.
I'd like some help and suggestions, but since it's the only fanart of this one character currently, I'm paranoid.

>>490018There is Toyhou.se
It's the quintessential OC hub for most people. Alternatively there is just using ArtFight. Issue with that is there are limited numbers of images and the types allowed. Toyhou.se is invite-only, but I think people just post their invite codes whenever.

Trying to paint a bit after several weeks into lineart hell. I feel mildly rusty, but that's what drawing more is for.
>>490020Thank you! For the textures, I just run a hatching brush over screentones, and it gives it a little more "oomf," so to speak.
I downloaded and played around with a lot of brushes from the Clip Studio asset store before I found one I was pleased with, but my process for adding texture to my images goes like this:
>fill in screen tones for flat colors>set color to transparent and run over with hatching brush/texture brush of your choice to add textureIt feels loads more pleasing to the eye than just plain old tones and cel-shading, and the idea came to me after looking at how my favorite mangaka renders. Just experiment and look at lots of manga you like until you find something that tickles the neurons and try to copy it/put your own spin on it.
>contextTLDR is that it's a sci-fi capeshit universe, and this one-shot is set at the very beginning of it. Left is my fishgal OC, Elise, who is not very good with her powers at first, and the guy is Blink, a teleporter vagrant.

>>490164Thanks for the tip!
>>490155nta Makes me wonder if Artfight's moderation is more or less aggro than Toyhou.se. I think you can just google codes also.

>>490018I use th, it feels comfy.
I also have codes available but I don't know if I will risk myself getting banned like it happend with art fight. I hate that it's a gendie dominated space that can't accept different opinions. I will have a breakdown if I loose my th account kek anyway

>>490352Last I'm gonna post about this because I don't want to derail further. That's not what nona said. And I'm showing he was capable of inking bgs without 3d reliance in the youtube vids. His tutorial could have just made you use 3d from the start but doesn't, he goes through the process of giving you a better way to visualize perspective without making a 3d model of it. I am quite certain he didn't rely on 3d for either tutorials esp since this tutorial has been out before CSP asset bashing like other anon said. And yes tracing 3d is a tool way before csp but I stand by my point.
I'm just frustrated because of people claiming an artwork was made with AI or some super tool because they don’t realize people with pure skill, mastery and patience exist. No. 490860
