What truly shocked me is that they're a couple on the show, I thought they were a family and she was cast as his daughter. Just look at these pics, in all I saw they always look like father and child.
Now there's a lot of rumors about the two of them having an affair on set, she also looks a lot like a young version of his wife. What if that really was true? I did some martial arts in my twenties and my own teachers in tae kwon do basically acted like you weren't 'dedicated' enough to the class if you didn't want to pay to do competitions, even if you were actually better and showed up more than the people who wanted to do competitions. Sports can also be a lot harder to work around work schedules and life events in general, whereas you can always just skip a day at the gym or shift around the time you go compared to something like a soccer team or a karate class that is several hours long at a faraway location at a specific time 3x a week. I completely agree that it's much better to do actual sports and fitness activities then just hitting the gym but I myself ended up mostly defaulting to the gym for my fitness needs when I couldn't keep up with the schedules and pressures of sports or when the classes/teams/activities themselves got canceled due to low attendance. You used to be able to just casually play soccer or hockey or basketball in the street but now you can't, people are extremely overworked, the classes are wildly expensive (I used to take dance classes in college but after I graduated the only dance classes I could find were like $60 per hour long lesson, I can get an entire 3-month unlimited gym membership for that amount).
We need to bring back a culture of casual, for-fun sports and fitness activities that aren't ultra expensive or centered around being competitive or working towards going pro, but for that to happen people also need more money and better work life balance and probably friendly communities where people are down to do regular activities as groups.

Price, who went to a bunch of tribal societies all over the world and compared their health, especially teeth and jaw structure, to urban areas that had modernized, or compared generations pre-industrual Western food imports to the generations after. He found that not only tooth decay and tooth problems but actual jaw structure, orthodontic problems, facial structure problems etc. were related to the westernized diets. It's not that dissimilar to plastic surgery/filler or any middle class way of dunking on the poors by just hiding your actual genetics. I know there are actual functional reasons why people with a bad bite might choose to go for orthodontics but the large number of people getting veneers totally unnecessarily is because the natural color of teeth (which is 99% of the time yellow/greyish in adults no matter how healthy their teeth are) has been stigmatized, the same way aquiline noses have been stigmatized leading to tons of rhinoplasties. It allows people to smugly point to someone with naturally healthy teeth and say they have bad dental hygiene or must be a smoker/coffee/sugar addict because people aren't even used to seeing a normal tooth color anymore. I'd personally rather see someone with healthy, natural teeth that are a bit 'discolored' (aka normal tooth colored) or a bit crooked but well taken care of because it's a better sign of actual health and genetic fitness than shaving off all your enamel and putting porcelain over top, but I guess that's what we do now and then bully women who actually take care of themselves and leave their teeth natural.

And one of the pivotal elements in it is still female sexual trauma and sexual coercion, like it's literally integrated into female identity and I can't escape seeing females being sexually abused in one way or another even in fiction. Males almost never get sexually abused in fiction (I can think of Berserk, where the male protag is raped as a child). It's like females can't have adventures and fight for ideals or power or freedom without being a rape bait at some point or wanting romance or kids… nope, not even in fiction. I don't see many female characters with interesting conflicts or motivations like for example Kreia in KOTOR 2 (she literally wants to destroy the Force, essentially kill god because she wants people to have free will. AND on top of that she's super old so moids don't sexualize her weeeew). So yeah. I prefer to watch media focused on males rather than media with nice male characters and shitty female ones because with that second option I am constantly being reminded of "what could've been" and I constantly compare the male and female struggle, weight, depth etc. And it pains me. I have been thinking about the differences between women who like unconvetional men vs men who like ''unconventional'' women.
