I loved it when I played it, got excited for Fates, loved BR and CQ but disliked Revelation (which is just a bonus route anyway and I bought the DLC on sales so I ignore its existence), but it's true for me as well, Fates is still way more fresh in my mind than Awakening. Maybe I'll replay both soon.

Is anybody else just not interested in the new Cyberpunk 2077 DLC. I feel like playing as V before the end of the game just makes it not that interesting, like the writers might force some dumb moral choice on us and it's like, I don't care about Night City anymore I'm going Devil ending every time. And having to deal with the chip and Johnny some more. It might've been cooler with a new protag.

I think BR personally is around Awakening-tier for me where I enjoyed it but it didn't stick for me much. Revelations is… I can't even remember if I played it, kek. CQ though, I replayed the shit out of. I logged 200+ hours on Fates and I think around 3/4ths of that was just replays of CQ (yes, I do have the 'tism)

Just played NORCO and liked it a lot. Set primarily in an alternate future version of the real refinery town of Norco, Louisiana, where AI and robots are more commonplace. You play as a female protagonist who returns to Norco after discovering her mother died of cancer, and a mystery unfolds. Very atmospheric game with writing that is both good (prose and story setup) and kinda bad (story resolution). It's occasionally creepy but also pretty funny and made me laugh out loud a couple times. If you liked games like Backbone, Night in the Woods, and Kentucky Route Zero (haven't played this one personally but they're both Southern Gothic), you'll probably like NORCO. I've also seen comparisons to Disco Elysium due to the literary descriptions and general atmosphere.

I've been playing SIGNALIS for about six hours and I absolutely love it so far. The inspiration from Silent Hill and Resident Evil is obvious but it still has its own aesthetic and atmosphere. It was developed by a mainly two-person team (a man and woman I THINK) and nearly all the characters and enemies are female. It's full of literary and art references in a way that feels purposeful rather than pretentious. Plus it's decently challenging, with a casual mode if you prefer.

I saw that but their post was mostly conjecture and I couldn't find any actual proof. They said it seemed like a tranny made it because the protagonist "walks weird" but I don't get that criticism at all, she's not human for one thing and she's creeping/sneaking because it's a horror game, there's nothing weird about her walk cycle. I researched the devs and there's hardly any info about them.

Nta but it's not, those are two names that are commonly used by western trannies. Yuri especially (because it's the name of their favourite porn), unless the dev is japanese or a slav there's a huge chance it's a tranny.

No. 263448

>>263444
They're German. I do suspect Yuri could be a troon because in my research, the company rose-engine is sometimes credited to Yuri and Barbara and sometimes Alex and Barbara. I don't think the members of the company have changed because they say they say they have been developing the game together for 8 years. If Yuri transitioned at some point, it could be that Barbara is a troon and influenced him, OR she's just a handmaiden. I still like the game a lot even if it's made by troons because there's nothing objectionable in it imo, but I just WANT it to be (even partially) the passion project of a woman.

samefagging, but this is the "retarded" way the protagonist walks. Honestly I can empathize with the anon in the MtF thread, I'm on edge anytime I hear about women in game development because at this point I just assume it's a troon. But there is really nothing wrong with this walk cycle kek.

No. 263454

>>263444
>>263448
Idk guys, Barbara is a normal name, I know a few Barbaras IRL and they're all women, I don't spend too much time on mtf threads and it would never occur to me to even think that it's any indicator of tranny-ism. Yuri sounds like a pseudonym and you can't blame a woman to not want to use her real name in gamedev either; and given that person has "they" pronoun on twitter I'd be much more keen on assuming it's a fakeboi, not other way around. Women do gamedev too, it sucks people always jump to a conclusion it has to be an undercover scrote. I don't know anons, I just want to believe

No. 263456

>>263454
That's fair anon. To be honest I've been let down so many times that I don't have much faith anymore. Women in gamedev are great but their games often get ignored because they're not scrotish enough and if a game isn't for scrotes then it's automatically uninteresting. Plus men tend to trample over women when it comes to gaming. Just think about all the "female" esport teams being all troons.

I get you tbh, the scenarios look kind of dark for some reason, I would've expected it to be as well more like the mobile 2D game, a more pastel palette at first or something.
And I also would've expected it to be more like running around and doing fashion fights with random people, but this trailer is showing something definitely more awesome! It's better than just fashion fights, you get to use the outfits in a way that kind of makes sense and you get to explore a cool fantasy land with functional clothes that are pretty.

Anynonna picked up The Knight Witch yet? I started playing it a few days ago and already can't put it down. It's a shoot-em-up metroidvania bullet hell with some of the best writing I've encountered in a game lately. And our character is a 35 year old married woman!! I can't remember the last time I played a game with a female lead older than her late 20s, let alone a game where we don't lose our spouse in the inciting tragedy.
The gameplay itself is challenging but there are cheat codes programmed into the game if you want an easier time getting through levels to experience the story (I've had three cheats equipped since partway through the tutorial, but I'm bad at vidya.) I'm in the third act of the game and excited to finish it, but wanted to share it with all of you first!

I played celeste a few years back and the creator wasn't out as trans yet and his male name was listed on the game credits so it was wild to me to see he later chose the protagonist's name as his own. Honestly it seems more like social contagion and retconning to me but who knows. The story itself had basically the acceptance and commitment therapy basics where you shouln't see mental health problems as an evil part of you that needs to be destroyed but to accept them and learn how to deal with the feelings instead. I didnt see the trans parallels when I played anyway, maybe my brain was too innocent.
The real bummer was finding out the composer is trans though, I was happy to see a woman composer be thriving in videogames but ofc it's not…

I backed TemTem, that Pokemon-inspired game, when it first ran on Kickstarter but I only played it for the first time this year. I accidentally hit randomize during the character customization and just built my character off of that. I didn't realize until down the line that the randomizer chose the male body type. It does that stupid thing where it doesn't outright say you choose to play as a boy or a girl, but has only 2 body type options anyway–so much for muh gender diversity. Anyway, I've been playing as a crossdresser this whole time kek. I can't change it either. I wanted to reset my game, but you can't until you've played so many hours and I'll lose the username I reserved in the original Kickstarter. Not necessarily because kojima won't be apart of it (tbh, it annoys the fuck out of me that people always ignore the fact that there were multiple writers and the localization team did a lot of heavy lifting) but i just dont think it will have the same charm. especially if they don't get the same voice actors we would get a glorious HD rendering of solid snake tho, so it might be worth it just for that

Once you homebrew your 3ds you'll be able to play games from any region! I use https://hshop.erista.me/ to download games. You should be able to find whatever language version you want. If the region of the game doesn't match your 3ds (for instance playing an English game on a Japanese console) you'll need to use a homebrew app called Luma Locale Switcher to change the game's region to match your 3ds. It's pretty easy to use though! I had to do that because I have 2 Japanese 3ds consoles (why does JP have the best special editions orz)

Though some games are "global" meaning they aren't region locked!

I don't play a lot of games lately, and mostly it's old as fuck shit that I've played for 10 years straight (M&B, CK2, modded HL), but recently I've been thinking about buying a gaming laptop (I need a laptop over a PC because of reasons). The problem is, I don't think that it would be a worthwhile purchase. I can get a regular laptop for a way cheaper price than a gaming laptop, but I don't play a lot of games (especially modern ones), so obviously I don't need it that much. On other hand, a regular laptop has an absolutely shitty video card, so I sure it will struggle running most games. What do, nonnas? The price is considerable, but for some reason I really want a good gaming laptop, but for what? Playing FNV for millions of times? It's difficult to choose. I don't like playing games anymore, but sometimes I like to spend an evening playing a session of CKII, but spending twice as much on a laptop is a bit too much for me for something that I do only occasionally.
For the record, I'm choosing between ASUS TUF Gaming F15 and ASUS X515. With the later I also can buy a drawing tablet on top of that, which I also need. Sorry if off-topic, but it still kinda gaming related, so…

Ah, my last laptop was a Dell XPS 15, but in the last year I bought a Lenovo Legion Slim, and that's an actual gaming laptop, minus the gay RGB keyboard. I'm also like you, I prefer playing older games (FNV is extremely cozy, ain't it? You better be romancin' Joshua). I say as long as it can handle games up to, say, Skyrim-era, and can handle a game that could have dozens of mods, you'll be fine. I prefer laptops over a PC myself, I've been using them for 10+ years now. I managed to play Mass Effect 2 on a shitty Macbook that had taken a beating during college, and I was happy as a clam.

I finally beat SMT5 and went with the law ending. I managed to do almost all the side quests except the one that requires beating Shiva because fuck that, I got all the mimans and amalgams, and I found the last boss fight to be way easier than the second fight against Zeus because I didn't get the true neutral ending. Fuck Chiyoda, easily the worst part of the game.

Anyway, I'm now going back to Pokemon Legend Arceus, which I started months ago and I'm now done with the tutorial and I'm given missions here and there. I'm still at the very beginning of the game though. How long is it if I want to 100% the game? Is it possible to complete the pokedex without trading, since it's a spinoff? I'm guessing it's still an easy game like the rest of the series compared to SMT, because I took a long time beating SMT5 but it was still very intense.

I'd look up gameplay first. It's a pretty casual MH game, but MH in general has a learning curve and its def not for everyone. Its more arcadey than open world, loop of prepare for fight -> fight monster -> make weapon/armor. there's some chill exploration elements; you can explore the maps and find hidden stuff.

Now, my biased gamer take: Rise/Sunbreak are amazing and worth the money lol

They made games like Freddi Fish, Putt-Putt, Pajama Sam, etc. The video went over the demise of the company, and I was so fucking pissed when I learned about a game that they were making at the time of their demise.

"A Gas Pocket Adventure: Aliens Ate My Cookies" is picrel. I don't know… Aside from the initial scene with Alisa falling boobfirst into Rean, I'm at least alright with their writing so far. I was going to keep playing Pokemon Legend Arceus but I got distracted by Persona 5 Royal. I wanted to just be done with the first arc/the tutorial and put it aside for once I beat Pokemon Legend Arceus but maybe I'll do the reverse instead. I played P3P and P4G a decade ago and loved them, then played a bunch of other, much harder Megaten games so now I'm just half-assing everything because I know I'll beat this game very easily on normal. I played the original at an acquaintance's place long ago and only did the first two arcs, and it was annoying as fuck because the guy was annoying himself and we only saw each other from time to time so just going through that part of the game took months. I'm already having way more fun right now.

By the way, I accumulated a lot of gold coins in my Nintendo account so I decided to buy a year of Nintendo Online subscription with a discount. I still play ACNH from time to time, and I have a bunch of duplicate DIY recipes, if anyone would be interested in visiting my island. I posted codes in the AC thread a few months ago when I used the free trial and some anons came and took a bunch of recipes, clothes and pieces of furniture so I'm sure other anons would be interested as well.

>>271027
>The English voice acting is bad
Can't you just switch to the Japanese voice acting? I do that as soon as it's possible because I'm ESL and I don't see why I would have to endure this torture when it's not even the original stuff. Is the story as botched as Fates when it comes to translation? I've seen rumors about that.

>I'm kinda sad I bought this for full price

Shit like this is why I'm asking about the game. It looks like shit and it's not like the gameplay is different from the previous games. Did you buy a physical copy? Because if that's the case, at least you could just sell it later even if it's at a loss. I think I'll just replay Awakening, Birthright and Conquest and just stick to that, and maybe try to beat Sacred Stones once and for all instead of buying this one.

Any nonnas got suggestions for good rogue-likes? I finished Hades a month ago and I've currently got Binding of Isaac and Crypt of the Necrodancer on my wishlist, but I'd love to know your gulls faves. Also purchased Vampire Survivors for £4 jermafag and after only an hour of gameplay I'd recommend it!! It's so much fun and I've heard so many great things about it. I also purchased Muse Dash because it was on sale for cheap, though I'm not particularly excited about the waifushit that horny Steam moids are talking about.

I feel the same way about it not living up to the hype, and I definitely can imagine TRAs gleefully claiming its because it's a reflection of ~le ebil JKR~, and not because it just might not be a good game? I'm excited nonetheless. Gonna make a terf witch in Joanne's honour.

Oh! Vampire Survivor is such a fun and incredibly easy game, best use of a couple of hours in my opinion. My only frustration is I don’t know how to get the weapon upgrades. Currently I only have the first 2 places unlocked

I decided to get it and don't really know how to feel about it right now. I'm still in the early chapters, but I keep thinking how I I want to replay Awakening. If only my 3DS didn't destroy my wrists these days kek I agree with others that it feels like they want to rope in Genshin players and Heroes players instead of making a game for their core audience (outside of tossing in fan favorite characters). The animations and 3D animations do look better I'll give it that. My biggest pains are the art direction. All the female characters look like they're from fucking Whoville. F!Alear looks cross eyed all the time and it kills me how her tie is tucked under a bodice to emphasize her boobs. I keep thinking how annoying that would be to wear kek. Moids are screeching that this is a girl game now because of treehouse localisation and the male character designs, but they don't have an ikemen look at all to me. Actually they feel like apology designs to scrotes for making 3H so female-friendly. Anyway, shows what I value in a game kek. Wish I could give more input on the gameplay. It's actually the moids who are sperging on Twitter about how the localization is shit because they removed the romance (picrel). They're throwing fits that the 11-year-old girl doesn't confess her love to you, as if that somehow benefits or changes the story in any way. Besides, these changes are worthless lolicon males, they'll find the next underage anime girl of the week to jack it to tomorrow. People tend to play Fire Emblem games in English(if they're English speaking individuals), unless they're huge weebs. And even then, it doesn't really matter if you play in Japanese with English subs because it's not like you'll understand the language anyway.

Unfortunately, the coomers here are the ones in the right, but they don't look credible at all. I've seen many normal people complaining about it before as well for other games, and for FE Fates especially, but it went nowhere because now the localizers go to Japan to bother the devs directly on top of changing scripts and making characters OOC. For FE Fates people were complaining that the localization made sincere scenes between family members and friends look retarded because of memes and removed DLCs but retards thought we just wanted to have the petting minigame back and that everything else was intact.

Shout out to Gamefreak for not allowing Nintendo of America to ruin Pokemon gen 1 by changing all the pokemon's design and not making Pikachu a tiger with big breasts and fuck Square Enix for making FF characters more edgy and 2cool4school until FF10 by the way.

No. 271723

This is definitely not a good thing. If you let a localization studio do whatever they want, they will eventually make changes that you also dislike. This time it was a change that you supported, but next time it might not be.
But this is actually not a good thing for you. Unlike anime, video game overseas sales actually matter. This shit is weird, even for japanese standards. And I think FE is a pretty well known franchise right? So it's not some weird weeb obscure game. In that case, it would be better if western audiences saw this and spoke against it en masse. If western audiences make a big deal about it, the japanese company would feel more obligated to avoid this in the future.

I'm pretty shocked at this and it's a shame it will remain hidden to most western players. Even in anime and manga, you do not normally see lolicon relationships unless you are specifically reading or watching lolicon manga/anime. I don't understand why they would think this was a good idea.

I mean they're right that localizers are incompetent idiots who shove their reddit tier memes and morality on video games that aren't theirs and it's a terrible thing, not that they're right for being lolicon. Engage seems to target a younger audience than Fates and 3H (especially Fates given how serious and depressing the story was meant to be before localizers ruined it) so I don't even think being able to date Anna is that bad if it was made with preteen players in mind tbh. The main character is still a self-insert after all. But then again I'm not playing Engage so maybe I'm wrong and there's some kind of twist in the story.

No. 271778

>>271625
I think that Anna wouldn't be as much of an issue if her type of character was a new introduction specifically in the installment intended to appeal to younger audiences. But because FE has had an ongoing issue with weirdly sexual loli designs, I take umbrage with her presence as a romance option.
In Rune Factory 4, for example, I don't have a problem with Kiel and Amber being romancable. Some adult players to find their romances uncomfortable, but I think that the argument that they're there for younger players is completely plausible.
Anna… I don't think so. Not when designs like Nowi and Nyx (love her writing, but really think they could have still gotten the point across with a different design) exist.

No. 271779

>>271778
I get why Nowi makes people uncomfortable, but Nyx acted so much like an adult that she just seemed like a regular womanlet to me, so Hayato or Tsukuyomi or whatever his name is was actually more of an equivalent to Nowi imo. Especially when you unlock his daughter and she explicitly says he's younger than she is, even though she's a teenager, and that shouldn't even listen to him.

No. 271783

>>271777
I think the target audience for Engage is adolescents, or imo teenagers to young adults. The main character is 17, which I think is a good middle ground. Plus, lolis don't exist to be attractive to young teens or kids, they're made to be attractive to pedophiles(inb4 "hurrrr they're fictional!!1", I know). I highly doubt these lolicon men are trying to be champions of anti-censorship, and are more just mad because they keep censoring the loli romances. In which case, it sucks to suck I guess.

No. 271791

>inb4 "hurrrr they're fictional!!1", I know
Anyone who would say that on lc is either a scrote or is sadly way too optimistic and thinks moids romancing children in fiction doesn't have an impact in real life. But yes, the conversation should have been about poor localisation decision-making, rewriting characters to be more simplified and one-dimensional, etc. It's not so critique of localizers continues to be simply brushed off as creepy pedo spergs. Also it's funny and sad how people are trying to say writing Anna's romance is removing "muh lgbt rep". Gross.

When I was being sarcastic about LGB rep it was because of the other characters who friendzone the MC, not Anna because I saw screenshots of the girl with the braid dressed in pink who tearfully accepts the ring from the MC and says "allies for always!" in English and screenshots of the dark skinned girl and the MC in the epilogue about how they respect each other's freedom and sometimes eat BBQ together when they're all the same age.

I would have mentioned him if I weren't responding specifically to the possibility of excessively young romance options being present as an option for younger players, in which case the sexual designs of Nowi and Nyx are what most makes the likely intent of loli/shota characters' repeated inclusion clear.
This is also why I said that Nyx's writing isn't the issue for me. It's difficult to defend her design to those who are made uncomfortable by it because at the end of the day, it IS a preteen girl's body in extremely revealing clothing. It's made clear in the game that her complex about her appearance isn't just because she's a womanlet, she really did stop aging very young as a result of her curse.

No. 271803

>>271798
I think it's easy to ignore Nyx's looks because her portraits looks kind of normal and her 3D model isn't very detailed. It would have been way more obvious without dialogs if it were an HD game like 3H or Engage though I'll give you that.

I hate Aigis, she feels very out of place compared to the rest of the cast and is too fanservicey. Like, you'll have Yukari having nearly the same backstory as the MC and relating to that so they gradually become closer but her goals are her own from the beginning and Mitsuru and Fuuka act normally with the MC and you can date them if you want, meanwhile Aigis' purpose to be the mandatory "uwu I'm forever devoted to (you), MC-kun" waifu even in the main story. The whole appeal of this series is that it's about random teenagers (and adults in P2) being stuck in shitty supernatural situations, and then they shove a fucking waifu robot in the middle of the game. Teddie did the whole "I want to become a real boy" archetype way better since he's a shadow and is important since the very beginning of the game so he doesn't feel out of place at all and he gets plenty of development I can't stand his voice in English though… Other than her and Marie in P4G I don't think I dislike any of the main Persona characters nearly as much. You have no reading comprehension or…? She's not meant to be slutty, that's how Inaba's people perceive her and so they spread rumors about that and that's why her dungeon and shadow look like this. By this logic Naoto really is a troon.

No. 272045

>>272044
There's nothing deep about her character either way. She's so generic it hurts. Scrotes only like her because she's feminine and shows her skin. All of them are waifu baits but Naoto has some wise lines and was never the first choice.

At least I can agree with Rise not being a deep complex character. She's just not slutty. I feel the same way for Yukiko, Kanji and Naoto tbh because the game is long, Yukiko is kind of bland and the others have their arc being resolved as soon as they join the party. And Naoto's issues with her work and other police officers all happen off-screen unfortunately.

You know what's funny? When I played P4G in 2013 and watched the anime in 2012 I thought her arc was exaggerated and just a hyperbole to prove the point that sexism in the workplace is bad and ageism is stupid because in our era who even tries to entirely hide being a woman just to be perceived as more competent by coworkers? Now her arc is even more relevant than when the game got released because of all the young girls and women transitioning or claiming they're NB just to seem less stupid or shallow even if they're not even noticing that's their reason for doing it.

No. 272089

>>272083
i don't think she's waifu bait (in p4 that'd be marie and rise lol) but i think it's more that the writers were incapable of writing a female character without making her simp for the mc. it's especially bad in 4 where they try to push this idea that heros got this harem of girls who want him at all times. i agree with >>272047, a lot of p4 characters feel bland and like they were just shoehorned in (and i never even thought about yukiko but youre right that she has 0 personality except haha bad at cooking, which is a joke atlus feels the need to shoehorn in every game for some reason)

NAYRT But she's not unjustified in disliking Naoto for her writing past her dungeon/her writing as a romance option. >>272089 is correctly identifying the issue with many female characters in this game, in that despite meaningful substance present in their writing… The writers are unable to get past the ultimate need for women to feed into a (assumed male) player's ego. That's something to be rightfully rubbed the wrong way by.

fuukas voice is annoying af and she's kinda bland (ik its a common opinion), fuck ken for obvious reasons and also his route with femc is disgusting, everyone else is ok.
p4 i don't really like anyone that much but for ai. ai is really underrated imo. marie is a guilty pleasure cause i like tsunderes. but everyone else i find either kinda bland or annoying. the friendship dynamics are good outside of the links tho which makes up for it.
p5… is the worst. i didn't actually enjoy any characters social links. i feel like they could've done a lot better.

The little character development she has gets obliterated at the end though. Man, I always wanted the sims to include wheelchairs because when I was a kid I remember playing a sims game on gba and they had a character in a wheelchair and I thought that was a really cool thing to include since I had a friend in a wheelchair and also a family member, that was what we called a bit of diversity back in the day, I get why they wouldn't include this kinda thing in the pc game though but this whole "diversity" schtick baffles me. Girls with ridiculous big ass self harm scars and men in wigs and clothes that don't fit is apparently peak diversity these days. Are we still supposed to believe troons are an oppressed class while having enough power to get these companies tripping over themselves to accomodate them? What makes these updates so bad is that they're forcing it on people. You just can't deactivate dumb pronouns and shit and now you have this. I honestly don't mind the ending. I expected it to be like the other two games where the ending is similar to the beginning with Luka and Bayo getting married on a cruise in a restored NYC or whatever but what actually annoyed me was that Viola's mom was implied to be resurrected like all the Bayo and Jeannes who got absorbed bt the bald guy and she's not even trying to see her? Bitch what? I would have disowned her. I'm looking forward to the next game.

I forgot to add, I loved the environments, Tokyo and Paris were so accurate it was uncanny. Bayonetta 3's Paris is the most realistic one I've seen so far in fiction kek, I'm not even sarcastic, they even replaced the Orange stores with Citron Telecom. I loved that shit. Now I wish we could have entire stages in NYC because I'm an ameriboo but I guess that's what the beginning of Bayonetta 2 is about anyway, sort of.

It's true that they're well done, but I found most of them to be not very interesting. Tokyo was very grey, but that's just how cities are I guess. I didn't find the environments particularly appealing because 2 of them are just cities, which is what's outside my window. Egypt was quite nice, though. But that, and the imo lame design of the enemies left a lot ot be desired, visually.

its disappointing about the genre change.
i'm currently playing dragon age 2, and to be honest i feel like the series died with inquisition. like yes i would love to see more dragon age games, but i also know that no dragon age game is ever going to come close to how good origins was. 2, despite its flaws, still maintains a lot of the spirit of dao. inquisition to me felt soulless. i like solas enough to be interested in da4, but theres no way in hell i'm expecting it to be a good game. i'm actually surprised they've even made any progress with it; i figured it'd be stuck in development hell then quietly dropped

No. 274135

Man this sucks, why do troons have to ruin everything. DAO is one of my favorites games of all time, I consider it one of the best games I've ever played if not the best. DA2 was not as good but it was still pretty fun imo (it felt more like a spinoff than a sequel to me). Never got to beat DAI because of a living situation that resulted in me losing my gaming equipment but it seemed alright.

I remember the gamergate controversy and there was all that shit about "women in video games" and people losing their shit at women saying some video games are sexist. There were all those antisjw YouTubers screeching about how "men are the majority of gamers so why should games pander to women yadada" meanwhile games have to pander to troons now even though they're (supposedly) like .001% of the population.

Sorry for my autistic rant lmao.

"soy boy cult classic" jesus fuck i wish male "video essayists" (failed theaterkids) never existed so this game would have just remained off the radar. in both games you can see a small town & its citizens get transformed in under 2 weeks due to a deadly plague. characters & town feel realistic not just boilerplate shit. first one is novel for having 3 different characters PoV's of the same 12 days, personally this & the isolated quarantined plague town setting really drew me in even back when the translations were shit. some characters will lie to the city doctor and only tell town info to the more local doctor, you realize this on the second playthrough & your 12 days are wildly different for each 3, it's not like NG+. dialogue heavy & there's some real gems in the cast. game is old so it's a bit of a slog, u easily enable cheats. both games have a theater that no matter what puts on thematically relevant or prophetic plays at 12AM, second game has lucid dreaming. second game has one character but it's a full length game, graphically beautiful, less of a time sink than the first. if you want to dip your toes in you might want to pick this one, if you wanna jump right in pick classic HD. if any of this sounds interesting then buy it, if none of it does then skip it. i avoid video essays and fandom shit so idk how it's talked about, I tried to be succinct here. second character for the second game is being worked on.

That's it I officially hate malz western JRPG players. I'm petty as hell. They hated Rex from XC2 because he's a cute, optimistic 15 yo skinny boy because that makes him "boring" and a "cuck". Then they started loving him JUST because of the whole "muh three wives" in XC3. Now they love him even more because he looks way older, taller and has noticeable muscles in the next DLC despite him being THE EXACT SAME CHARACTER SO FAR. I'm convinced they have no reading comprehension or just want to self insert in a specific type of character, which is also why the FF7 anf FF8 translations were awful, why they hated Tidus when FF10 came out and why they hated FE Fates and its MC so much. They might as well just go on grindr, put that they're masc4masc in theie bio and leave normal discussions about JRPGs online to others at this point.

This is just moid hysteria. They feel threatened by any cutesy or pretty male characters that have potential to be loved by female players, calling them gay etc. The fact that women often prefer young, beautiful men makes them absolutely seethe and they cope by latching onto old/macho types as figures to admire because all XY, while wanting to fuck women, are really faggots that crave attention and acknowledgement from superior males.

No. 274524

>>274453
I think most people dislike the story for wrong reasons. It's either becausz a youtuber told them to hate it, because the translations made some specific characters ooc or very weird, or because they don't get Asian cultural references. For example the MC is supposed to be partially inspired by Buddha and that's why she (idgaf I played as female Kamui) seems too nice and too pacifist given the setting but that's the whole point. And she was born in the invisible kingdom which is basically hell from the story named "the spider string", and the final boss in the third DLC route wears a Buddha mask but the translators tried to make that place more like Ancient Greece because they thought Ancient India and China were too complicated for the American audience I guess. And Kamui is very OOC in Birthright because of said translation and acts like she likes revenge and killing people, and male Amerifats loved that shit because they could finallu self-insert in a character that "looks cool".

>>274475
In FF7 everyone acts a bit more sassy and sometimes they're way more rude because 12 years boys in the 90s probably thought it's "cool" so you have Tifa calling Barrett a retard in English while in Japanese she's telling him to stop saying something that will bring them bad luck something like "don't jinx it". In FF8 Squall is way more sassy than in Japanese. Imagine if the Persona 3's wasn't just an introverted teenage boy but would also routinely shit talk others outside of the social links.

I got a used copy of Engage and it’s the worst FE I’ve played.

Skirmishes scale with your highest leveled character, so training your weak units is a pain. Every chapter throws three new characters at you that outclass your old ones. They changed the way you acquire skills too, now you need to grind SP to get basic skills like Vantage. Paired endings are gone for some reason.

You fight the same irritating bosses over and over again. They even have multiple health bars because of “revival stones”, like they’re playing on Fates Phoenix mode. Oh yeah and they tell you their sad anime backstory before they die, that’s good writing, right??

Jesus, and on top of that the characters are hideous and the story seems pretty boring and a terrible pretext for gacha fanservice, I'm glad the ugly MC prevented me from buying a copy. I'll stick to FE Awakening, Fates and maybe 3H. I also need to replay Sacred Stones someday, I never finished it and I found out the used copy I have was actually a bootleg so I'm not even sure I still have my old save file.

I recently finished playing Who's Lila and I have such mix feelings about it. I enjoyed the first hour or two. It was fun making silly faces and slowly putting the pieces together. Learning something new with each exchange of dialogue. Then I hit road block. I didn't know what else to do. I've exhausted all the possible dialogue with different reactions.

The problem was I picked up the game without realizing it had some arg elements. You had to download a separate DLC and open up links scattered around. It was kinda cool ig? But even with all more efforts I got frustrated and decided to just google up what I needed to do. Some of things were simple like finding a passwords through a schizo document or the game's cover art. But other times there were things like changing your laptop date to witness an event that has happened in the past but it felt so stupid. You were already jumping between different time periods in game. Why did I have to do it for this specific event?

Having to read a walkthrough to get to the rest of the endings really soured my experience. I found much more enjoyment through simpler endings. I really loved learning about what type of person Tanya was before Lila killed her. Finding out about her insecurities of failure and how it effects the people around her. That human element was what encourage me to find out how things turned out the way they did. I love everything, from the ludicrous philosophies, the beautiful music and strange abstract art. but oh god did the arg elements make it unnecessarily complicated. It made everything such a drag.

Saging because this is really long and annoying,,, Maybe it's just not my kind of game lol

NONA NONI NONNITA NONNIE I finished Disco Elysium and i know it's corny but that shit changed my life.
I want to talk about it but I plan on doing a second playthrough. I just love it, the vibes, the look, the weird ass writing. Someone said it was made by people who didn't speak English as their first language? IS that true? Is that why the writing felt so "Unique" and "whimsical"? I don't know it gave it style. At first I made my Harry a Super Star Facists cop, lol. I always try to be a huge asshole.
I'd feel bad because when I met the Racist Lorryman, Kim kinda scolded me and I love Kim from the start and I loved his voice actor. So I didn't want to make him mad but also didn't want to be fucking scolded for trying to be an asshole, however, he didn't really scold that much I feel like despite how cartoonish some of the characters were it also felt like they were real people. Like Kim basically seemed to think My harry was a huge racist (he was), and retarded weirdo (he was) but saw..something good in him. I thought at first he'd just hate me and seee nothing good in me because of how racists I was. I don't know what that says but it's definitely more "Human" then just the extreme way I'd expect it to go.
My favorite quest in the whole game is how I ran into the working class woman, literally pestered her about her husband, thinking it was going to some fucking dumb thing, where her husband WAS a drunk. It stayed at the back of my mind. Every scrote I met after that I wonderd if they were his husband. Only to find him dead from a tragic accident. Then having to tell her. That moment was tense and I had to do it twice because my computer died where I had to talk to her about it. The fishman's island or whatever it is called seemed so hopeless but also beautiful. I loved how comfty the little shacks were. You could tell that they were really loved and cared for. I don't know theres so much I love.
I also hated elizbeth, I hated everyone in the hardie boys, they annoyed me. Especially Elizibeth, I did not care they
Died in my playthrough most of them. Maybe i'm just heartless but lord I disliked them##

the adventure game Mystery of the Druids.

The protagonist Detective Brent Halligan is tasked by Scotland Yard to solve the skeleton murders, a grisly series of murders where skeletonized (it's a real word!) bodies are showing up across London. Halligan is picked not for his ability, but rather because he's the only person in the department left. In fact, everyone else in the department seems to dislike him for some unknown reason.
You soon learn why. Halligan is what can only be described as a beetle-like person, with no consideration for anything beyond what's currently his task. He is utterly grungy, has a 600 dollar debt at the local pizzeria (that he regards as a point of pride), used to smoke a carton of cigarettes a week, his office looks like a bomb went off, his shelf is full of conspiracy theory books, he has a habit of 'borrowing' things from his coworkers and never returning them, and made life difficult for everyone in the office by putting an arrest warrant for Prince Charles after Diana's death 'as a joke'. If you make the mistake of trusting Halligan or being friendly to him, you soon find out he will stab you in the back with zero mercy or hesitation in order to reach whatever his current goal is.
One highlight of the game is the part where you have to do a phone call. See, Halligan had a habit of making so many long-distance calls for spurious reasons that the police department now prevents him from making outgoing calls. So, he decides to use a pay phone to call in a lead for his investigation. The problem is, Halligan has misplaced his wallet, doesn't know how to find it, and nobody in the department will give him change because they hate his guts.
So in true Halligan fashion, what does he do?
Well, he finds out there is a hobo right next to the phone booth he wants to use, with some spare change. Halligan proceeds to steal medicinal alcohol from the Scotland Yard's crime lab, mixes it in with some apple juice he had on him, and offers it to the thirsty hobo as 'apple schnapps, from Detective Halligan's home distillery'. He steals from his police department, poisons the hobo, then proceeds to rob him blind, all so he can use the phone booth.
It's absolutely brilliant.

>there was proof in the books Dumbledore was gay
It's a bunch of implications that's easy to catch if you're old enough to know how the media treat gay people (because Rita trying to imply Dumbledore was a pedo targeting Harry constently after his death) and if you have a little bit of media literacy, which many of these people lack. A bunch of people guess that he was into Grindelwald correctly way before the confirmation in that one infamous interview, including the fan who explicitely asked about it to begin with, and the real question after that was "was Grindelwald actually reciprocating his feelings or was he manipulating him all along?" Although some people are maybe young enough to know about Dumbledore being gay from the interview BEFORE reading the book long after it got released, and many people only know the movies and are to this day whining that "muh childhood ruined" or whatever. If I managed to guess that by myself when I was like 12 or 13 years old as soon as the last book got released there's no excuse for anyone else I don't give a fuck. Although I was raised on 90s CLAMP manga so that probably helped kek.

tldr; Dumbledore is definitely gay in the last book for his evil ex-boyfriend but people don't know how to read or only watched the movies to begin with.

If you like to play some old ds game I would recommend getting TWiLight Menu++ https://github.com/DS-Homebrew/TWiLightMenu/releases , some of my favourites are ghost trick, harvest moon games and currently Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. I don't remember where I got them from but you can easily find on net. Here is a link to 3ds qr code site where you can download games directly with your 3ds https://hshop.erista.me/ there is a new thing on the site called 3hs which allows you to
>downloads from hShop directly. This means you no longer have to scan QR codes or use CIA files to install content from hShop. 3hs achieves speeds that have been measured to match and even exceed FBI.
I have no experience of using it but I heard that it doesn't take a lot of space. Some older sites/forums for games https://www.cia-3ds.com/ https://www.reddit.com/r/3dsqrcodes/top/?t=all and the megalinks and info thread https://www.reddit.com/r/3dspiracy/comments/p1w6if/read_before_posting_faq_megathread_xxl_edition/ Although I think hShop has a lot more variety now then it used too. Any farmer here played the Far Cry 6 Insanity DLC? I have a lot of mixed feelings and wanted to talk about Citra specifically and the misogynist tone surrounding the her portrayal and how they handled the subject in general. I really hoped she wouldn't be so one dimensional, we get a little glimpse into her motivation and yeah Ik it's supposed to focus on Vaas and he's an unreliable narrator (which everyone seems to forget) but still. I can't quite put this into words, on one hand I like the vagueness and there is some nuance to it but on the other… Idk it feels like they tried to redeem Vaas by essentially blaming her for fucking him up and not caring about why she is fucked up enough to do it in the first place. I wish they explored their mutual trauma more because we clearly see that there is something wrong with her too and she has moments of weakness. Yeah, she manipulated Vaas and made him more fucked up but when her character is so underdeveloped and fetishized it feels like a misogynistic femme fatale trope when it's clearly so much more than that.
But mostly, I dislike how people reacted to it, I saw this woman on tumblr talking about how much she hated her and how she's so evil and all that shit and then go on and post about how cool she thinks Buck (the sadistic rapist who bought a slave) is. Like… It's so clear that if Citra wasn't a woman people wouldn't be saying shit like oh, she's the real villain on Far Cry 3! Because she's clearly worse than a human trafficking mass murderer trying to wipe out the natives or the Australian rape ape. Yes, she's a villain, but she deserves as much nuance as Vaas. Aside from that I liked how they explored Vaas' character.

Hopefully they don't put too much emphasis on 'pronouns' or whatever, our character is trying to save the world it doesn't matter and this character probably won't be important outside of the expansions story.

There were one sex romances in destiny lores long before they started selling emblems. I think it's always been nicely integrated and well written so I honestly don't care, as long as theres not too much unnecessary romance happening in the game, I want high stakes spacewide war only. Only reason I didn't buy Lightfall yet is because Neomuna is legitimately the ugliest location in Destiny's history, cities are very hard to make and it looks so dated, uninspired and empty even in these high hype trailers… such a ridiculous idea to make a cyberpunk city location for an online game like this.

One thing I absolutely love about most recent story development though is that Traveler was about to run. It's always been my hope it will do so since it did it in the past and I just love this "benevolent alien god bringing the golden age" archetype of a character to be this selfish thing with it's own agenda. Really happy it went this way - it only stayed because it's cornered - rather than "traveler loved humanity more than anyone else and so decided to stick around for the first time ever" cozy bullshit

I don't know about Harvest Moon, but I have played Rune Factory 1, 3 and 4 (3rd being the first game I played). And yes, you can play the third game first, is easy enough even 13 year old me was able to beat it, lol. RF1 is more difficult, you have to be careful during early game because you can die easily, and if you faint in a cave it's game over (that means, you have to start from your last save, you don't go to the doctor or anything.) Getting money is also more difficult, in my opinion. But RF1 has best girl Mist, and I have to say I quite enjoyed that the game was more challenging that RF3 or RF4.
They only started adding a female protagonist in the 4th game, so if you are not interested in playing as a male character that woos the girls in town, don't bother with the DS games. But I have to say that the majority of bachelorettes are not annoying ugu waifus, so I'm sure you can find one that you like.
If it's not your thing, then you should simply play RF4.

There's a line Eido said something about the humanity-fallen conflict and some lore pieces that made me go "oh ok the writing room has nuance" but I don't think it really translated much into the storytelling/game and I doubt the politics of the last city will ever get mentioned again in-game. Ikora basically did whatever she wanted and the citizens that had issues with it were just sidelined but any story about refugees is bound to be complicated.

I don't care if a story wants to portray progressive or conservative sentiments just as long as it's well written which for the most part Destiny's lore and story is at least to me.

I know Americans are going to think of their own immigration problems but I kept thinking how the story mirrors the Palestinian struggle, I wanted to make a post on reddit but I was worried I'd get laughed into oblivion.

In lore the travel seems really really benevolent tho, it had so many chances to leave humanity but it stuck. It would be very stupid if the all knowing sphere in the sky decided to leave when the pyramids were already close by, I think it was getting away from the last city since Eramis wanted to blow it up.

Anons, I already bought Pokemon Blue and Gold on the 3DS, would it be retarded to also get Yellow and Crystal just for the added content? Because I really don't want to emulate and play on a PC, these games are made to be played from the comfort of my bed, and I could potentially transfert my Pokemon from there to more recent games as well.

Do it. Pokemon is not meant to be played on pc along with the fact that the Eshop for 3ds is closing soon. Also if you ever hack your 3ds you can play so many fanmade pokemon games on it.

I know it's closing, I bought everything I wanted already, especially physical copies, but I just suddenly remembered about Pokemon Yellow and Crystal very specifically. Especially because I want to play as Kris like when I was a kid, being able to play as a cute blue haired girl blew my mind when I was 7 years old.

>Also if you ever hack your 3ds

I've considered it, but since I already have everything I want I don't see the point. Maybe I'll do it someday just so I can play 3DS games in Japanese because to this day I'm still annoyed at how shit FE Fates' localization was and how I couldn't choose the Japanese voices for SMT4 and 4A.

yeah it makes no sense that it would leave now, maybe the end of Witch Queen affected it? Though hopefully we'll get some lore later to explain it. I was so sure that Eramis was actually going to fire at the hive fleet in a last act of defiance, but I guess all those lines trying to convince her to switch sides were just red herrings.

If you want something more in the anime realm of things, the Ys games are all pretty good. Light on story (not bad, just light) with breezy combat and plenty of exploration. Ys 8 is a good starting place, 9 is good as well but I think you'd lose something in the plot without at least one other Ys game under your belt.
Falcom may not have the spiffiest budget to blow on their titles, but they're a solid veteran developer. If you get into one of their main IPs, you luckily have plenty more where it came from to enjoy.
Don't know your skill level, but they're also big on keeping their games accessible so you'll find something that suits you.

Wild, I think that the modern version of RF 4 is usually the one I most often see recommended.
In terms of Harvest Moon (or rather Story of Seasons when it comes to modern titles)… It's not quite what it used to be, in my opinion. Better to stick with the games prior to the 3DS era.
For a pretty solid, basic HM experience, I'd say Cute on the DS or More Friends of Mineral Town on GBA. I'm personally partial to Island of Happiness on DS.

I wanted to have 3ds to play older games, like acnl, style savy and otome games along with old FE.

the 3ds is very fun when you mod it, i'd definitely suggest you get one before the prices skyrocket entirely. I bought a 3DS 2 years ago and it's my favorite console. Either way buy if you can afford it but I'll tell you that I haven't regreted mine. Try to buy one locally at a retroshop rather than online through ebay, I managed to find a really good deal like that.

Personally it's up to you, Idk how easy it is to emulate 3ds games on a PC but I know DS are piss easy. If you have a collection of old DS games it's worth it because the console can play those too. I enjoy playing my games handheld more than on pc, so having then downloaded to the console is a plus.
I've seen prices range from $95 to $150 for used ones in good condition. I bought a special edition one for about 200 dollars on mercari but it came loaded with games on it and already homebrewed which is nice.

It depends on if you're looking for the highly sought after ones or just any 3DS. The 3DS original MSRP was 250$ and unless you're looking for models like picrel or limited releases, you can easily find them under or matching MSRP online, both new and restored. Just three years ago I stumbled across a 3DS at a goodwill and got it for 10$, not everybody with a spare 3DS is a nerd who is will sell it for 100$, so now i use that one for mods while my original XL is my "vanilla" DS.

I think emulating is really easy and obviously cheaper, but I love the feeling of having a physical handheld console I can use anywhere rather than sitting on my PC. I think it would be better to buy one now rather than later, as the prices will only increase as time goes on. I love having a hacked console with custom themes and free games. I like 3ds more than Switch for handheld gaming as the Switch is much heavier, I actually got tenosynovitis for playing too much ACNH on it kekk.

I am currently trying to find cute custom casing / housing for mine but seems like there are none for the regular New 3ds, only New 3ds XL/LL.

I wanted that 3DSXL but in Europe the pink one is bright hot pink and not pastel pink and white unfortunately. Sorry to nitpick but you don't emulate 3DS games on a 3DS, since you're playing them in the console they were made for. It's on PC, or any other platform, that you emulate 3DS games.
Anyway, I don't know why everybody's panicking over the eShop closing, just pirate that stuff lol

I finished my second playthrough of Disco Eluysium, the last time I've ever felt so attached and mentally in love with a game was fucking Walking Dead Season 1.
There's something about this game and every single character that makes me miss it. My first playthrough i was a fucking junkie/drunk who didn't care about anything but opening every door and check, i could'nt of course. I wanted to be the "Super Star Cop" and I do feel that was who Harry was, a huge fucking asshole with a huge ego who thought he was the shit. I was very into the "ex-something". I tried to shoot Cunoesse and wanted to kill Cuno, I could'nt do the chruch mission and I was very pissed off.
Second playthrough I was Acoplyspe Cop, I wanted to be a "Straight forward no bullshit cop" but thought it'd be funny to constantly talk about how the world was ending. WHILE ALSO being a ultra Liberal. In the end I had 300 real', I'd brought every single item of clothing from that dude selling them, I didn't drink or smoke, I didn't do any drugs. I also didn't put my skill points into anything and often had multuple points. I didn't recreit Cuno because Kim didn't get harmed. I didn't get to crack the code with that Skull girl and everytime I was always very weary on the Boat lady whose name I can't remember, but I did "Favors" for the Evert but I love the fisherman villege so I didn't let him do what he wanted I lied about it. At first I hated titus and his people, this playthrough I didn't hate them. Elizbeth still is annoying as shit to me. Even though the things I did the second time around didn't change "much" I still want to play again.
Maybe try a different build. I always make him a little "Spirtual" but I want to go full facist or full on fucking "Everything is a conspircy" because that shit was right anyway.
I'm realizing I don't even want to see everything like whats behind that door on the coast, or how I didn't get the Disco Dancers ID but I DID arrest her the second time I just miss the world. I love it, it's such a beautiful game. I don't know. It even made me want to write again for my own enjoyment.
It's definetly my favorite game of all time and I don't think i'll ever forget it. Maybe I'll give it a rest for a bit and play another build later. I want to reject my whole past personality and play it that way. I just can't stop thinking about it or talking about it. It's not even "Fun" in the normal way. I don't know i'm obessed. Such a unique amazing game, with great characters. (Im drunk sorry for all the spelling errors to the nonas who gave a shit to read it). I'd love to know how you played Harry if you played

Also my second play through I got very bored with the "ex-something" I truly believe that maybe was the point? She didn't really mean anything. Just a woman he was in love with, seems like they both were in a fucked up place and after his drunken night of bullshit, he was at possibly square one with her. I really didn't care who she was, or what she meant. Maybe that was the point? I was legit more interested in knowing (both times) he was a fucking gym teacher. I also found the lady at the fishing villege a lot more amazing then the big headed homosexual prostitute or whatever he was. I felt that lady was cool as fuck. The homosexual selling his ass to some gross weirdo or whatever they were doing, wasn't to me. I do like how all the ladies in the game were mostly chill, I still don't like the Disco Dancer, I hate the "Magical girl thats so flawed and everyone around her just falls in love", she didn't come off like that to me. She wasn't interesting at all. I was more interested in the pale driver or Cindy the Skull whose mission I didn't finish on my second try. Even Cunoesse.

Nonna, your Elysium sperging was legitimately the highlight of my night. I frigging adore this game and love hearing how other people play it. Your Detectives sound wild in the best way! I agree with you that the women are all really cool and chill characters. I also don't much like Klaasje and find her one of the weaker written characters. Pale Driver is the best and I spent so much time talking to her.
My Detective was a low FYS high PSY build (3-4-2-3) with Shivers as signature skill. He died a couple of times in the early game once by losing a fight with Measurehead and once from Evrart's hard chair. We're really playing hard into the ex-gym teacher thing, because he convinced the neurotic bookseller lady to let her kid in from the cold and somehow got through to Cuno. Lady Revachol talks to us constantly. Are we crazy, or truly in tune with our city? We may never know. He's not explicitly running from his past, but he's in no hurry to learn about it. He has never looked in a mirror, and only learned his name when he retrieved his case files. We spend a lot of our time listening to people, doing silly things to annoy Kim, and incidentally solving the case solely because we tugged at every other thread in Martinaise. Went Hobocop immediately but never picked up a real copotype. Harry will never be a good person, but I did the best I could for him to leave Martinaise in a better place.
What's your favorite skill, gameplay and personality? I really like Physical Instrument; he's a prick but he's also weirdly encouraging in a way that makes me smile. Must be the gym teacher shining through. Authority is a troll and I love him, but I disagree with his advice most of the time.

No. 277007

I'm guessing yes? Hacking a console is just about exploiting bugs and vulnerabilities in the firmware. The older your device's firmware, the easier it is to hack, that's why it's recommended that you don't update it to the latest version if you want to hack a console.
If you mean like getting games from the eShop, there are other ways to get the games other than through the official store.

When I was playing Xenoblade 2 I couldn't stop thinking about how Amalthus is basically Seymour from FFX if Seymour was actually well-written and relevant:
>blue
>priest to a fictional religion that's super important in the setting due to potentially illegal means
>are actively ruining the entire world just out of spite
>both backstories involves a dead mom and affects them greatly when they were small kids with already shitty lives
>Junichi Suwabe
>seems like an ally at first, becomes an antagonist mid-game
Again, Amalthus is so much more interesting it's not funny. That, the setting itself and the characters designed by Nomura kind of makes me feel like the game could have been a FF game if it weren't for the director leaving Squaresoft.

For the nonnies who have played Persona 3 Portable, in your opinion does it matter which gender you choose for the protagonist? I installed the game since it was on Game Pass and I've been curious about the Persona games for a while, and this one especially since you can choose the gender of the protagonist, but when I started the game it was saying that it's recommended to play as a guy if you're new to the game…I'm not against playing male characters but I chose this game in particular because I heard that you could play as a girl. Is there really that much of a difference in the game based on whether you play as the male or female protagonist?

Yes and no. Most social links are different in FemC route (original game didn't have any of the male party members as available social links) and ime all of the changes are infinitely better than the male social links. Male route has models of the characters and portraits during most of the cutscenes, FemC route is done more in visual novel style where it only has the character portraits. Things like personas you can summon are identical iirc (Orpheus has a different design depending on the MC's sex).
My friend started a male playthrough while we're sharing a FemC run. According to him the male route sucks so bad compared to the female route and he's only playing through it for completion's sake. I've never played male route because I can't stand the thought of my yandere lesbian robot waifu being straight and because of certain scenes that would be insufferable to play as a guy ("Operation Babe Hunt", 'nuff said.) If it's your first time playing P3P, play FemC. She's infinitely better and has some sassy dialogue options that apparently aren't available in the male route. Playing FemC also gives you the option to choose between Elizabeth and Theodore as your Velvet Room attendant (picrel).
Sorry for mega sperg but FemC really is a better game according to most people who have played both. I hope you have fun playing Persona 3, nonna! I'd love to hear about your favorite characters and personas once you've had a chance to play a bit!

The only big difference is that you won't have social links with the same characters if you play as a girl. The other differences are superficial. The original P3 game was released in 2006 and was made with the male protagonist only, the female protagonist is an addition to P3P specifically, which is why it's recommended that way. If you play as the male MC first I recommend you do a NG+ run as the girl because she has social links with more playable characters than the MC.

Having recently been playing both Male and Female MCs back and forth for a while since the game came out (as well as P4 cause my adhd ass can't just stay on one thing), my experience sofar is that–Male route is like, really written in that late 2000's latent sexist way, students flirting with teachers, bippy girlfriend social links that kinda forces you into cheating, etc, it's a bit of ick on the side of an otherwise great story, and the Female route has like, a lot of that really rewritten with most of the Male Route side characters replaced with honestly better written ones.

Like, I'm enjoying both experiences but like, if you're only planning on playing it through one time, I'd say maybe go the female route. If you're gonna play 'em over a lot go with your heart either way.

Sons of the Forest is out in early access, started playing yesterday and the building is pretty fun. Hoping they stick to their guns and complete the game in 6-8 months. Played the first one from day one and it was cool seeing it progress but it taking years made me forget about the game until last year when I actually went back and finished it. Only gripe I have with this new one is that picrel is this mutant you encounter early in the game that will help you and her clothes go see through in the rain. I don't need a sexy woman in my mutants game, I want body horror shit.

So have any of you Destiny anons played Lightfall yet? I still have to buy it, delayed doing so because I'm too busy with other things right now, but seeing the initial reactions I'm starting to feel less and less urgency to play. Having reddit complain was to be expected but seeing prominent people from the community like Byf saying it's not good definitely makes it serious.
Also top kek at literally everyone hating on Nimbus for being unbearably cringy, I guess Bungie in it's woke state was really dedicated to make him a believeable themlet by making him the most annoying character in the game's history.

I don’t care what the game’s influencers are saying but I feel so vindicated right now.
From the start I wasn’t a fan of the new location and Nimbus has the ugliest design I’ve ever seen,
The game’s art direction is starting to get weaker and even the love is becoming weird (mpreg Calus)
I’m fine with it being woke but do it well, this is so badly done.

Was going to finish it but the lack of sleep has caught up with me, got through the strike.
Nimbus is annoying but I dunno it's sorta in a funny way, and they're reminding me of Otak from Warframe somehow which is even funnier.
And I just knew Rohan would die once I realized he wasn't in any of he promo and his name was getting left out of dialogue. Oh well, I only knew him for like 5 minutes.
Strand was really fun when it was super recharge, but still cool even with normal times, nicer then Stasis for Warlock and I feel it will be much nicer for Titan.
And I love the city, the zen garden is cool and 70's throwback, and I still love the pyramid aesthetic.
The Halo reference in that early mission was fun.
The throwback to first year with the tank and the sparrow section in the strike was nice.

The name Strand and the swinging gameplay reminding me of other games.
And I swear I didn't know 'go with the flow' would actually pop up in game when I said it.
Also haven't done seasonal yet, but that base Warlock armor is real nice, nice pants.

It doesn't have to be strictly about murder, but any spooky or unsettling mystery game would be really amazing. I really love this genre but I have a hard time finding good games in it. So I beat Lightfall…
And Augh! I died ~14 times falling off the edge fighting Calus only for Ghost to be a useless butt and make us fail anyway… But then Ikora and Zavala were all 'The Travelers gone.' When it's still there it's just got a giant purple triangle portal in it, we still have our light and everything. And then they put the fact that it's a portal and that the Witness went through it in the text only instead of extending the cutscene for a few more seconds.
I bet that next February we're going to jump through that portal, and then there will be a beautiful lady dressed in white on the other side or something.
And then the seasonal story. I'm glad Devrim is finally back, and Mithrax again and of course Crow~ But then Holiday has to go and make me hate her even more, I'm still annoyed she hasn't apologized to Crow for Haunted and then she goes and 'accidentally' shoots him… I seriously yelled 'You Bitch' and I will call it canon that my Titan did too. And then Crow is just gonna take it all cause he probably still hates himself and thinks he deserves it. She better apologize by the end of the season now.
Anyway, it was still worth it, had a ton of fun with new and old mechanics and got 3 new cutscenes where I got to see Warlock's face and new voice lines. And the new Seasonal armor is very cool.
Hope Asher shows up sometime this year with the Vex on Neptune, we need Vex allies now, and Variks would be nice.

I'm glad I don't give a fuck about representation of my ethnic group in Japanese video games unlike Americans because I'm seeing people sperging so hard over FF16 having white characters and using the whole "b-but North Africans were in Spain a few centuries ago so Yoshi-P or whoever the fuck has no excuses!!1!". Anyway. All of this reminded me of how Final Fantasy could sell games just thanks to its brand name, and now people seem to be wary when they hear it. I guess it started FF13 because of American game "journalists" sperging about it being gay and Japanese and not a real RPG at the time? Was FF12 controversial when it came out too? Because tbh in my mind FF is kind of "over" for me as a series.

It was quite short but I actually liked that they did not try to elongate it with useless stuff, you could definitely replay it several time and find new stuff every time, the character designs were really interesting and unscrotish too. I recommend Omori, I think it's a good time with actually decent spooky stuff. There's no gender/identity politics, there's really not any stuff like that at all it's all very drama character driven. Very well done game.

they're all cool as hell. i've never really seen a series that swerved so hard from turning its women into waifu caricatures…especially their older women.

in picrel, everyone's late forties. barring the first woman who's maybe in her thirties. their age is never brought up as a joke or "mommy" fetishization.

lobotomy corp is for pc; library of ruina is also for pc. the first is a management sim that's reminiscent of scp, the second is a deck builder. don't let that turn you off though, as the presentation is absolutely beautiful. get cheats for ruina too – i'm playing through without (sometimes i just want something autistically tough to relax my mind) so i can't really recommend any, but there's got to be good stuff on nexus.(^__^)

The Captains system, all the different upgrade mechanics, different types of missions/side quests, what each type of quest or mission rewards you with and where to use it, and most of all, what order to do it all in. Also wtf is up with the different skins for Talion? One is a woman, but I thought she was the DLC character in a whole seperate storyline? I know all of these answers are in the appendice and guide, but I just can't seem to latch on to something to start off on, it feels too scattered. Battle is actually the easiest part. Really enjoying Sonic Frontiers. I hope they keep making Sonic games in this style. I wish they would bring back the Chao gardens but I read somewhere that the team that developed it, Artificial Life or something, was an experimental team during the Dreamcast era and I’m guessing they don’t have any of them on board anymore. Finally got around to playing eastward thinking it’d be a fun little pixel game. Read and heard nothing but good reviews. Beautiful pixel art, looks right up my ally!
It’s bad. Like I’m struggling with a part that’s apparently meant to be difficult that’s in the early game and I can kind of see what I have to do? But not really. I’m noticing that the games aesthetic doesn’t lend itself well to the whole gun and run. I can’t tell what I’m doing at max brightness, the grab and drag is difficult to get right in a rush and I can’t tell what I’m getting caught on when I try to navigate narrow spaces while fleeing.
This is the most frustrating game I’ve played recently and most of it relates to not being able to tell what’s in my way, a path or an obstacle I can blow up/dislodge. I’d have more patience but real life has me stressed so I’m not interested in sitting around for 10mins trying to navigate the same sequence over and over again until I get it right.
Idk maybe my expectations were just primed incorrectly but goddam, what an awful waste of a beautiful game! My enjoyment and interest has completely dissipated and I’m just going to go back to playing my cozy baby games where nothing can hurt me and I can explore in peace.

A short hike; exactly what it says, you can even fly! Very short though.
Animal crossing; you’ve probably already played this or it’s crossed your mind.
Ooblets; heck yeah! Dumb tumblr humor and lol random but I found it really fun and very chill. It’s been buggy in the past but while I played it it was being patched, don’t know what state it’s in now but when I left it was playable.
Littlewood; so cute and chill, kind of repetitive but suffers from poor memory management (double check before you buy/play because it melted my laptop!)
Journey; oldie but a goodie! You fly around in this one too and if you get lucky you’ll find someone along the way to share the journey.
Stardew; you’ve probably played but it is a very chill game, highly recommend if you like farm games.
Super motherload; a dig down game, good fun solo or if you want to couch coop. Very linear but super chill.
Cloudpunk; good story, flying cars, very different atmosphere to the rest but I was sad when I finished it.

I recommend looking them up before you buy just to see if the aesthetics appeal and if there are any major bugs still floating around. Some of them can be played in an hour (journey, a short hike), a few hours (super motherload, Cloudpunk) or just indefinitely (stardew, animal crossing). Hopefully I’ve mentioned something you haven’t heard of before.

I haven’t got that far into Eastward yet, so I could just be salty. I’d recommend trying to find some gameplay reviews that don’t have spoilers to get more of an idea about its mechanics, it’s nothing like I thought it’d be based on what id seen and the start of the game (which kind of led me to think it wasn’t as serious as I thought it’d be and was actually just going to be a chill puzzle story game).

The only actual incest is the two main characters being cousins and you can marry them to each other but since they're from a royal family it's actually way more realistic than anything else going on in this game. The youngest character is a teenage boy that exclusive to Birthright that nobody ever give a shit about because he's playable but not a main character. You can pair up characters in the same age range anyway if you want and it always cracks me up that Elise and Odin are supposed to be within the same range so I always pair them up.

The localization made a bunch of changes that made things way more suspicious than the original game. According to the artbook 15years happen between the time when the MC gets kidnapped and becomes a political hostage and the time when the game actually starts and Elise is supposed to be already born at that time but too young to remember the MC arriving at the castle so she could be between 15 and 17 years old and be the only short family member while all her siblings are like 6'0 at least. Meanwhile her bff Effie is supposed to be her childhood friend and they gave her a chain smoking voice to make her seem older. They did a bunch of weird shit like that BUT Hayato and his daughter have a conversation where she shit talks him for being younger than her while she's a teenage girl herself kek.

I've seen people defend that as her character being a statement against prostitution or something like that, since the setting is dystopian and the game's about listening to people's problems, after all. But I don't know if the characters are romanceable. If so, there would be no excuse to have her look like a child.

Atelier series is just sad. The older games were geared towards female players and could even romance male characters. Around Rorona it started attracting a lot of moids and with Sophie the series became lot more scrotish then finally with Ryza they hit the nail to the coffin. Recent games won't even let you romance male characters(even if one has a crush on the main character, like in Nelke) and male character designs become worse and worse, while female characters become more and more coomerish. It's just another generic scrote pandering yuri series now. And since Ryza apparently sold better than all of the previous series combined, this is probably how this series will continue to be.
At the same time, though, Ryza's story is pretty normal and not that creepy like the character designs suggests. Maybe there is hope?

Dredge is coming soon, the early reviews are pretty good. I hope it's as scary as it's making out though, I get it's both a fishing and horror game but some games skimp on the horror to reach a wider audience.

Which of the games is there actually romance with the male characters except for Escha & Logy? Also imo, of the newer games, Firis has a good amount of cute male characters including a chuuni househusbando, an autistic historian who is scared of women, a genki retard, and some non-playable male alchemists who are cute. A big reason why I like Atelier is because there are usually a couple of hot male characters in each game where if it was your typical scrote pandering series there would be none at all.

I agree with you except on that, it's actually realistic. Have you seen high fashion catwalks and how the most handsome, prettiest, most elegant male models walk like gorillas next to female models? We just don't have the same hips.

>>283647
Depends on your criteria I guess, but the main guys are detailed because of all the backstories and plot twists you'll find across the series. On the other hand Kojima was a bit too influenced by the fanbase's shit taste and that's why we have Raiden as a cyborg now because god forbid Kojima actively tries to pander to young woman and gives us a bishonen protagonist.

I've been reading Witch Hat Atelier and I've been really craving a game with the same vibes, like a witchy cozy game with fantastical creatures and sights, but still very small scale and slightly slice of life (I guess those who also read it can understand what I mean better, sorry lol)

I wish I had way more free time so I could go through my backlog. I think mine is kind of reasonable now because I have almost everything I wanted, the only game I want that I don't have yet is the new Bayonetta spinoff which was released just yesterday, and I don't have that many games I want to play among the ones I haven't started and finished yet. But they're so long. And I really want to replay some of them because of NG+ features and I want to replay all the mainline Pokemon games like right fucking now to compensate for SV being shit (supposedly, I haven't played it and we'll see how it'll go with patches and the DLC). I'm in the middle of P5R and I wish I could skip all the social links and cutscenes to play the actual game for some reason, I think I grew out of the how social aspect of the Persona games a while ago and I want to explore dungeons and complete the compendium.

How do anons with long backlogs deal with it? I really want to know. I'm posting screeshots of games I like little by little to keep track of my progress but I'm nearly considering streaming games once I play on NG+ mode for some of them if I ever have the opportunity to get a way more powerful computer and a decent mic.

You just have to realize that you might not play every game, maybe just watch LP's of stuff that you're interested in the story but you know you wouldn't like the gameplay of. If your thinking the game is tedious maybe it isn't worth your time to 100% it etc.

I stopped playing games for the story long ago so I can't really just watch lets play. And some of them are JPRGs with a lot of customization like SMT or Pokemon where you can pick and choose your entire party. Even for P5R I stopped caring about the story after the first arc so watching someone else play would be worse.

Why are you playing them then? Do you really love turn based battle systems and fetch quests? The gameplay in most JRPG's is usually the worst part of them.

Have been playing Octopath 2 lately. Having a great time with my girls-only party, I find the group this time more compelling than 1's (although 1's cast will always hold a special place in my heart). It's overall a great, beefed out sequel to the first game.

I play for the gameplay. I like exploring new maps, I like the battle systems in SMT, Pokemon, classic FF games, in some of the FE games I've played, etc. and I like completing the pokedex/compendium in SMT and Pokemon, it can be hard but it's fun. The story is usually just a bonus to me. I have DQ11 in my backlog and I'm not sure I'll enjoy that one because I've never played anything from that series though. I've avoided buying games that looked ugly or had stupid stories if they were just more of the same shit like Xenoblade 3's whole atmosphere and story looking a bit boring, or FE Engage having some of the worst character design I've seen in a while and just being a dumb as hell fanservice game for a series I'm not a huge fan of to begin with.

I'm glad I bought whatever I wanted without waiting for 3DS games as well, given that the pandemic made people buy them for more money second hand and the eshop is about to be closed down. Going to sperg about Temenos:
I started this a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving this guy. He's hot and snarky for sure, and it's made better by the fact that he's 30 (not that old, but older than average for JRPG ikemen). He's a detective-type character, and I think it's cute that he calls his Watson "little lamb", much to the guy's chagrin. And to top it all off, despite being the type of character who always seems like he has the upper hand while knowing more than he lets on, his cross paths with the younger girls, Agnea and Ochette, both involve him getting unintentionally bullied by them. It's cute and fun to see! He also does paper puppet theatres to proselytize to local kids, and the kids make fun of him when he forgets parts of the story. The little bit of pathetic spice really rounds out the character of this silver-tongued inquisitor investigating a string of cult-related murders.
I'm just enjoying the characters a lot more overall than I did with the first game. I also learned my lesson after having played the first, and am taking my time slowly exploring the world… 40 hours passed in the blink of an eye and I've still only barely scratched the game's surface. From what I hear, this isn't just a me thing– there's tons to do and see. Probably will be a strong contender for most enjoyable game of the year for me.
