Just played NORCO and liked it a lot. Set primarily in an alternate future version of the real refinery town of Norco, Louisiana, where AI and robots are more commonplace. You play as a female protagonist who returns to Norco after discovering her mother died of cancer, and a mystery unfolds. Very atmospheric game with writing that is both good (prose and story setup) and kinda bad (story resolution). It's occasionally creepy but also pretty funny and made me laugh out loud a couple times. If you liked games like Backbone, Night in the Woods, and Kentucky Route Zero (haven't played this one personally but they're both Southern Gothic), you'll probably like NORCO. I've also seen comparisons to Disco Elysium due to the literary descriptions and general atmosphere.

I've been playing SIGNALIS for about six hours and I absolutely love it so far. The inspiration from Silent Hill and Resident Evil is obvious but it still has its own aesthetic and atmosphere. It was developed by a mainly two-person team (a man and woman I THINK) and nearly all the characters and enemies are female. It's full of literary and art references in a way that feels purposeful rather than pretentious. Plus it's decently challenging, with a casual mode if you prefer.

Any other Geometry Dash nonas here? I played lite in middle school but I recently bought the full version on my pc and have been playing non stop. I would like to become a god at it someday. It does get pretty lonely when the community is mostly twelve year olds and man-children, though, so it would be nice to make friends from here that play the game. If you haven't played it but like rhythm games, you should totally check it out, the lite version is free on ios.

Anynonna picked up The Knight Witch yet? I started playing it a few days ago and already can't put it down. It's a shoot-em-up metroidvania bullet hell with some of the best writing I've encountered in a game lately. And our character is a 35 year old married woman!! I can't remember the last time I played a game with a female lead older than her late 20s, let alone a game where we don't lose our spouse in the inciting tragedy.
The gameplay itself is challenging but there are cheat codes programmed into the game if you want an easier time getting through levels to experience the story (I've had three cheats equipped since partway through the tutorial, but I'm bad at vidya.) I'm in the third act of the game and excited to finish it, but wanted to share it with all of you first!

I will probably watch someone stream it out of sheer curiosity, but I don't see it being as good as the original. Not necessarily because kojima won't be apart of it (tbh, it annoys the fuck out of me that people always ignore the fact that there were multiple writers and the localization team did a lot of heavy lifting) but i just dont think it will have the same charm. especially if they don't get the same voice actors we would get a glorious HD rendering of solid snake tho, so it might be worth it just for that

https://hshop.erista.me/ to download games. You should be able to find whatever language version you want. If the region of the game doesn't match your 3ds (for instance playing an English game on a Japanese console) you'll need to use a homebrew app called Luma Locale Switcher to change the game's region to match your 3ds. It's pretty easy to use though! I had to do that because I have 2 Japanese 3ds consoles (why does JP have the best special editions orz)

I don't play a lot of games lately, and mostly it's old as fuck shit that I've played for 10 years straight (M&B, CK2, modded HL), but recently I've been thinking about buying a gaming laptop (I need a laptop over a PC because of reasons). The problem is, I don't think that it would be a worthwhile purchase. I can get a regular laptop for a way cheaper price than a gaming laptop, but I don't play a lot of games (especially modern ones), so obviously I don't need it that much. On other hand, a regular laptop has an absolutely shitty video card, so I sure it will struggle running most games. What do, nonnas? The price is considerable, but for some reason I really want a good gaming laptop, but for what? Playing FNV for millions of times? It's difficult to choose. I don't like playing games anymore, but sometimes I like to spend an evening playing a session of CKII, but spending twice as much on a laptop is a bit too much for me for something that I do only occasionally.
For the record, I'm choosing between ASUS TUF Gaming F15 and ASUS X515. With the later I also can buy a drawing tablet on top of that, which I also need. Sorry if off-topic, but it still kinda gaming related, so…

I'm also like you, I prefer playing older games (FNV is extremely cozy, ain't it? You better be romancin' Joshua). I say as long as it can handle games up to, say, Skyrim-era, and can handle a game that could have dozens of mods, you'll be fine. I prefer laptops over a PC myself, I've been using them for 10+ years now. I managed to play Mass Effect 2 on a shitty Macbook that had taken a beating during college, and I was happy as a clam.

I finally beat SMT5 and went with the law ending. I managed to do almost all the side quests except the one that requires beating Shiva because fuck that, I got all the mimans and amalgams, and I found the last boss fight to be way easier than the second fight against Zeus because I didn't get the true neutral ending. Fuck Chiyoda, easily the worst part of the game.
Anyway, I'm now going back to Pokemon Legend Arceus, which I started months ago and I'm now done with the tutorial and I'm given missions here and there. I'm still at the very beginning of the game though. How long is it if I want to 100% the game? Is it possible to complete the pokedex without trading, since it's a spinoff? I'm guessing it's still an easy game like the rest of the series compared to SMT, because I took a long time beating SMT5 but it was still very intense.

They made games like Freddi Fish, Putt-Putt, Pajama Sam, etc. The video went over the demise of the company, and I was so fucking pissed when I learned about a game that they were making at the time of their demise.
"A Gas Pocket Adventure: Aliens Ate My Cookies" is picrel. I wanted to just be done with the first arc/the tutorial and put it aside for once I beat Pokemon Legend Arceus but maybe I'll do the reverse instead. I played P3P and P4G a decade ago and loved them, then played a bunch of other, much harder Megaten games so now I'm just half-assing everything because I know I'll beat this game very easily on normal. I played the original at an acquaintance's place long ago and only did the first two arcs, and it was annoying as fuck because the guy was annoying himself and we only saw each other from time to time so just going through that part of the game took months. I'm already having way more fun right now.
By the way, I accumulated a lot of gold coins in my Nintendo account so I decided to buy a year of Nintendo Online subscription with a discount. I still play ACNH from time to time, and I have a bunch of duplicate DIY recipes, if anyone would be interested in visiting my island. The animations and 3D animations do look better I'll give it that. My biggest pains are the art direction. All the female characters look like they're from fucking Whoville. Besides, these changes are worthless lolicon males, they'll find the next underage anime girl of the week to jack it to tomorrow. People tend to play Fire Emblem games in English(if they're English speaking individuals), unless they're huge weebs. I've seen many normal people complaining about it before as well for other games, and for FE Fates especially, but it went nowhere because now the localizers go to Japan to bother the devs directly on top of changing scripts and making characters OOC. For FE Fates people were complaining that the localization made sincere scenes between family members and friends look retarded because of memes and removed DLCs but retards thought we just wanted to have the petting minigame back and that everything else was intact.
Shout out to Gamefreak for not allowing Nintendo of America to ruin Pokemon gen 1 by changing all the pokemon's design and not making Pikachu a tiger with big breasts and fuck Square Enix for making FF characters more edgy and 2cool4school until FF10 by the way.

>>271681This is definitely not a good thing. If you let a localization studio do whatever they want, they will eventually make changes that you also dislike. This time it was a change that you supported, but next time it might not be.
But this is actually not a good thing for you. Unlike anime, video game overseas sales actually matter. This shit is weird, even for japanese standards. And I think FE is a pretty well known franchise right? So it's not some weird weeb obscure game. In that case, it would be better if western audiences saw this and spoke against it en masse. If western audiences make a big deal about it, the japanese company would feel more obligated to avoid this in the future.
I'm pretty shocked at this and it's a shame it will remain hidden to most western players. Even in anime and manga, you do not normally see lolicon relationships unless you are specifically reading or watching lolicon manga/anime. I don't understand why they would think this was a good idea.

But because FE has had an ongoing issue with weirdly sexual loli designs, I take umbrage with her presence as a romance option.
In Rune Factory 4, for example, I don't have a problem with Kiel and Amber being romancable. Some adult players to find their romances uncomfortable, but I think that the argument that they're there for younger players is completely plausible.
Anna… I don't think so. Not when designs like Nowi and Nyx (love her writing, but really think they could have still gotten the point across with a different design) exist.
No. 271798
>>271779I would have mentioned him if I weren't responding specifically to the possibility of excessively young romance options being present as an option for younger players, in which case the sexual designs of Nowi and Nyx are what most makes the likely intent of loli/shota characters' repeated inclusion clear.
This is also why I said that Nyx's writing isn't the issue for me. It's difficult to defend her design to those who are made uncomfortable by it because at the end of the day, it IS a preteen girl's body in extremely revealing clothing. It's made clear in the game that her complex about her appearance isn't just because she's a womanlet, she really did stop aging very young as a result of her curse.

Like, you'll have Yukari having nearly the same backstory as the MC and relating to that so they gradually become closer but her goals are her own from the beginning and Mitsuru and Fuuka act normally with the MC and you can date them if you want, meanwhile Aigis' purpose to be the mandatory "uwu I'm forever devoted to (you), MC-kun" waifu even in the main story. The whole appeal of this series is that it's about random teenagers (and adults in P2) being stuck in shitty supernatural situations, and then they shove a fucking waifu robot in the middle of the game. Teddie did the whole "I want to become a real boy" archetype way better since he's a shadow and is important since the very beginning of the game so he doesn't feel out of place at all and he gets plenty of development
I can't stand his voice in English though… Other than her and Marie in P4G I don't think I dislike any of the main Persona characters nearly as much. I'm at the beginning of P5R though and if Morgana won't shut the fuck up he'll be on my shit list as well. IMO the main shift nowadays is that FE has become less "degen as an aspect of its identity" and more "degen geared specifically towards profit". But that's a lot of stuff nowadays.

Girls with ridiculous big ass self harm scars and men in wigs and clothes that don't fit is apparently peak diversity these days. Are we still supposed to believe troons are an oppressed class while having enough power to get these companies tripping over themselves to accomodate them? What makes these updates so bad is that they're forcing it on people. You just can't deactivate dumb pronouns and shit and now you have this. It's either becausz a youtuber told them to hate it, because the translations made some specific characters ooc or very weird, or because they don't get Asian cultural references. For example the MC is supposed to be partially inspired by Buddha and that's why she (idgaf I played as female Kamui) seems too nice and too pacifist given the setting but that's the whole point. And she was born in the invisible kingdom which is basically hell from the story named "the spider string", and the final boss in the third DLC route wears a Buddha mask but the translators tried to make that place more like Ancient Greece because they thought Ancient India and China were too complicated for the American audience I guess. And Kamui is very OOC in Birthright because of said translation and acts like she likes revenge and killing people, and male Amerifats loved that shit because they could finallu self-insert in a character that "looks cool".
>>274475In FF7 everyone acts a bit more sassy and sometimes they're way more rude because 12 years boys in the 90s probably thought it's "cool" so you have Tifa calling Barrett a retard in English while in Japanese she's telling him to stop saying something that will bring them bad luck something like "don't jinx it". In FF8 Squall is way more sassy than in Japanese. Imagine if the Persona 3's wasn't just an introverted teenage boy but would also routinely shit talk others outside of the social links.

I’m in an FC in FFXIV Crystal. It’s mostly women in their 30s/40s and some men (but they’re typically respectful). We use VC to talk whenever we raid or whatever. Anyway one day out of the blue a new member joins with this obvious voice filter and starts talking about ERP. Out of curiosity I checked “her” twitter profile and he’s a “kinky trans puppygirl”.

nonny me too. I stopped playing after the Stromblood expansion was over and I never felt any better. In the end the community part was the only reason why FFXIV got ruined for me.
We had a FC with a big chunk of normies, cool women and men and then one of them turned into a MtF (long story short, he was an obsessed stalker of a woman who he thought was e-dating him (she wasn't), raged to the infinity and turned into a tranny, thinking he would get a gf that way, in the end started grooming mentally ill men (which were rare) on our fc into troonerism so he 'wont be the only one uwu'. After years he gave up and started dating another tranny).
FFXIV community q ended up being a bit worse because of that rage-baby streamer Asmongold, i remember how in xiv chat everyone would talk about nothing but him and wow, it was disgusting. I can only imagine how bad it is now.

I got a used copy of Engage and it’s the worst FE I’ve played.
Skirmishes scale with your highest leveled character, so training your weak units is a pain. Every chapter throws three new characters at you that outclass your old ones. They changed the way you acquire skills too, now you need to grind SP to get basic skills like Vantage. Paired endings are gone for some reason.
You fight the same irritating bosses over and over again. They even have multiple health bars because of “revival stones”, like they’re playing on Fates Phoenix mode. Oh yeah and they tell you their sad anime backstory before they die, that’s good writing, right??

I recently finished playing Who's Lila and I have such mix feelings about it. I enjoyed the first hour or two. It was fun making silly faces and slowly putting the pieces together. Learning something new with each exchange of dialogue. Then I hit road block. I didn't know what else to do. I've exhausted all the possible dialogue with different reactions.
The problem was I picked up the game without realizing it had some arg elements. You had to download a separate DLC and open up links scattered around. It was kinda cool ig? But even with all more efforts I got frustrated and decided to just google up what I needed to do. Some of things were simple like finding a passwords through a schizo document or the game's cover art. But other times there were things like changing your laptop date to witness an event that has happened in the past but it felt so stupid. You were already jumping between different time periods in game. Why did I have to do it for this specific event?
Having to read a walkthrough to get to the rest of the endings really soured my experience. I found much more enjoyment through simpler endings. I really loved learning about what type of person Tanya was before Lila killed her. Finding out about her insecurities of failure and how it effects the people around her. That human element was what encourage me to find out how things turned out the way they did. I love everything, from the ludicrous philosophies, the beautiful music and strange abstract art. but oh god did the arg elements make it unnecessarily complicated. It made everything such a drag.
Saging because this is really long and annoying,,, Maybe it's just not my kind of game lol

NONNIE I finished Disco Elysium and i know it's corny but that shit changed my life.
I want to talk about it but I plan on doing a second playthrough. I just love it, the vibes, the look, the weird ass writing. Someone said it was made by people who didn't speak English as their first language? IS that true? Is that why the writing felt so "Unique" and "whimsical"? I don't know it gave it style. At first I made my Harry a Super Star Facists cop, lol. I always try to be a huge asshole.
I'd feel bad because when I met the
Racist Lorryman, Kim kinda scolded me and I love Kim from the start and I loved his voice actor. So I didn't want to make him mad but also didn't want to be fucking scolded for trying to be an asshole, however, he didn't really scold that much I feel like despite how cartoonish some of the characters were it also felt like they were real people. Like Kim basically seemed to think My harry was a huge racist (he was), and retarded weirdo (he was) but saw..something good in him. I thought at first he'd just hate me and seee nothing good in me because of how racists I was. I don't know what that says but it's definitely more "Human" then just the extreme way I'd expect it to go.
My favorite quest in the whole game is how I ran into the working class woman, literally pestered her about her husband, thinking it was going to some fucking dumb thing, where her husband WAS a drunk. It stayed at the back of my mind. Every scrote I met after that I wonderd if they were his husband. Only to find him dead from a tragic accident. Then having to tell her. That moment was tense and I had to do it twice because my computer died where I had to talk to her about it. The fishman's island or whatever it is called seemed so hopeless but also beautiful. I loved how comfty the little shacks were. You could tell that they were really loved and cared for. I don't know theres so much I love.
I also hated elizbeth, I hated everyone in the hardie boys, they annoyed me. Especially Elizibeth, I did not care theyDied in my playthrough most of them. Maybe i'm just heartless but lord I disliked them##

>>272216the adventure game Mystery of the Druids.
The protagonist Detective Brent Halligan is tasked by Scotland Yard to solve the skeleton murders, a grisly series of murders where skeletonized (it's a real word!) bodies are showing up across London. Halligan is picked not for his ability, but rather because he's the only person in the department left. In fact, everyone else in the department seems to dislike him for some unknown reason.
You soon learn why. Halligan is what can only be described as a beetle-like person, with no consideration for anything beyond what's currently his task. He is utterly grungy, has a 600 dollar debt at the local pizzeria (that he regards as a point of pride), used to smoke a carton of cigarettes a week, his office looks like a bomb went off, his shelf is full of conspiracy theory books, he has a habit of 'borrowing' things from his coworkers and never returning them, and made life difficult for everyone in the office by putting an arrest warrant for Prince Charles after Diana's death 'as a joke'. If you make the mistake of trusting Halligan or being friendly to him, you soon find out he will stab you in the back with zero mercy or hesitation in order to reach whatever his current goal is.
One highlight of the game is the part where you have to do a phone call. See, Halligan had a habit of making so many long-distance calls for spurious reasons that the police department now prevents him from making outgoing calls. So, he decides to use a pay phone to call in a lead for his investigation. The problem is, Halligan has misplaced his wallet, doesn't know how to find it, and nobody in the department will give him change because they hate his guts.
So in true Halligan fashion, what does he do?
Well, he finds out there is a hobo right next to the phone booth he wants to use, with some spare change. Halligan proceeds to steal medicinal alcohol from the Scotland Yard's crime lab, mixes it in with some apple juice he had on him, and offers it to the thirsty hobo as 'apple schnapps, from Detective Halligan's home distillery'. He steals from his police department, poisons the hobo, then proceeds to rob him blind, all so he can use the phone booth.
It's absolutely brilliant.

A bunch of people guess that he was into Grindelwald correctly way before the confirmation in that one infamous interview, including the fan who explicitely asked about it to begin with, and the real question after that was "was Grindelwald actually reciprocating his feelings or was he manipulating him all along?" Although some people are maybe young enough to know about Dumbledore being gay from the interview BEFORE reading the book long after it got released, and many people only know the movies and are to this day whining that "muh childhood ruined" or whatever. If I managed to guess that by myself when I was like 12 or 13 years old as soon as the last book got released there's no excuse for anyone else I don't give a fuck. Although I was raised on 90s CLAMP manga so that probably helped kek.
tldr; Dumbledore is definitely gay in the last book for his evil ex-boyfriend but people don't know how to read or only watched the movies to begin with.

Any farmer here played the Far Cry 6 Insanity DLC? I have a lot of mixed feelings and wanted to talk about Citra specifically and the misogynist tone surrounding the her portrayal and how they handled the subject in general. I really hoped she wouldn't be so one dimensional, we get a little glimpse into her motivation and yeah Ik it's supposed to focus on Vaas and he's an unreliable narrator (which everyone seems to forget) but still. I can't quite put this into words, on one hand I like the vagueness and there is some nuance to it but on the other… Idk it feels like they tried to redeem Vaas by essentially blaming her for fucking him up and not caring about why she is fucked up enough to do it in the first place. I wish they explored their mutual trauma more because we clearly see that there is something wrong with her too and she has moments of weakness. Yeah, she manipulated Vaas and made him more fucked up but when her character is so underdeveloped and fetishized it feels like a misogynistic femme fatale trope when it's clearly so much more than that.
But mostly, I dislike how people reacted to it, I saw this woman on tumblr talking about how much she hated her and how she's so evil and all that shit and then go on and post about how cool she thinks Buck (the sadistic rapist who bought a slave) is. Like… It's so clear that if Citra wasn't a woman people wouldn't be saying shit like oh, she's the real villain on Far Cry 3! Because she's clearly worse than a human trafficking mass murderer trying to wipe out the natives or the Australian rape ape. Yes, she's a villain, but she deserves as much nuance as Vaas. Aside from that I liked how they explored Vaas' character.

RF1 is more difficult, you have to be careful during early game because you can die easily, and if you faint in a cave it's game over (that means, you have to start from your last save, you don't go to the doctor or anything.) Getting money is also more difficult, in my opinion. But RF1 has best girl Mist, and I have to say I quite enjoyed that the game was more challenging that RF3 or RF4.
They only started adding a female protagonist in the 4th game, so if you are not interested in playing as a male character that woos the girls in town, don't bother with the DS games. There's a line Eido said something about the humanity-fallen conflict and some lore pieces that made me go "oh ok the writing room has nuance" but I don't think it really translated much into the storytelling/game and I doubt the politics of the last city will ever get mentioned again in-game. Ikora basically did whatever she wanted and the citizens that had issues with it were just sidelined but any story about refugees is bound to be complicated.
I don't care if a story wants to portray progressive or conservative sentiments just as long as it's well written which for the most part Destiny's lore and story is at least to me.

I've seen prices range from $95 to $150 for used ones in good condition. I bought a special edition one for about 200 dollars on mercari but it came loaded with games on it and already homebrewed which is nice.

>>276642I got a New 3ds as gift from my bf a couple years ago, never owned one as kid / teen, and I really like it! I think emulating is really easy and obviously cheaper, but I love the feeling of having a physical handheld console I can use anywhere rather than sitting on my PC. I think it would be better to buy one now rather than later, as the prices will only increase as time goes on. I love having a hacked console with custom themes and free games. I like 3ds more than Switch for handheld gaming as the Switch is much heavier, I actually got tenosynovitis for playing too much ACNH on it kekk.
I am currently trying to find cute custom casing / housing for mine but seems like there are none for the regular New 3ds, only New 3ds XL/LL.

Anyway, I don't know why everybody's panicking over the eShop closing, just pirate that stuff lol

I finished my second playthrough of Disco Eluysium, the last time I've ever felt so attached and mentally in love with a game was fucking Walking Dead Season 1.
There's something about this game and every single character that makes me miss it. My first playthrough i was a fucking junkie/drunk who didn't care about anything but opening every door and check, i could'nt of course. I wanted to be the "Super Star Cop" and I do feel that was who Harry was, a huge fucking asshole with a huge ego who thought he was the shit. I was very into the "ex-something". I tried to shoot Cunoesse and wanted to kill Cuno, I could'nt do the chruch mission and I was very pissed off.
Second playthrough I was Acoplyspe Cop, I wanted to be a "Straight forward no bullshit cop" but thought it'd be funny to constantly talk about how the world was ending. WHILE ALSO being a ultra Liberal. In the end I had 300 real', I'd brought every single item of clothing from that dude selling them, I didn't drink or smoke, I didn't do any drugs. I also didn't put my skill points into anything and often had multuple points. I didn't recreit Cuno because Kim didn't get harmed. I didn't get to crack the code with that Skull girl and everytime I was always very weary on the Boat lady whose name I can't remember, but I did "Favors" for the Evert but I love the fisherman villege so I didn't let him do what he wanted I lied about it. At first I hated titus and his people, this playthrough I didn't hate them. Elizbeth still is annoying as shit to me. Even though the things I did the second time around didn't change "much" I still want to play again.
Maybe try a different build. I always make him a little "Spirtual" but I want to go full facist or full on fucking "Everything is a conspircy" because that shit was right anyway.
I'm realizing I don't even want to see everything like whats behind that door on the coast, or how I didn't get the Disco Dancers ID but I DID arrest her the second time I just miss the world. I love it, it's such a beautiful game. I don't know. It even made me want to write again for my own enjoyment.
It's definetly my favorite game of all time and I don't think i'll ever forget it. Maybe I'll give it a rest for a bit and play another build later. I want to reject my whole past personality and play it that way. I just can't stop thinking about it or talking about it. It's not even "Fun" in the normal way. I don't know i'm obessed. Such a unique amazing game, with great characters. (Im drunk sorry for all the spelling errors to the nonas who gave a shit to read it). I'd love to know how you played Harry if you played

>>276971Nonna, your Elysium sperging was legitimately the highlight of my night. I frigging adore this game and love hearing how other people play it. Your Detectives sound wild in the best way! I agree with you that the women are all really cool and chill characters.
I also don't much like Klaasje and find her one of the weaker written characters. Pale Driver is the best and I spent so much time talking to her.
My Detective was a low FYS high PSY build (3-4-2-3) with Shivers as signature skill. He died a couple of times in the early game
once by losing a fight with Measurehead and once from Evrart's hard chair. We're really playing hard into the
ex-gym teacher thing, because he convinced the neurotic bookseller lady to let her kid in from the cold and somehow got through to Cuno.
Lady Revachol talks to us constantly. Are we crazy, or truly in tune with our city? We may never know. He's not explicitly running from his past, but he's in no hurry to learn about it. He has never looked in a mirror, and only learned his name when he retrieved his case files. We spend a lot of our time listening to people, doing silly things to annoy Kim, and incidentally solving the case solely because we tugged at every other thread in Martinaise. Went Hobocop immediately but never picked up a real copotype.
Harry will never be a good person, but I did the best I could for him to leave Martinaise in a better place.
What's your favorite skill, gameplay and personality? I really like Physical Instrument; he's a prick but he's also weirdly encouraging in a way that makes me smile.
Must be the gym teacher shining through. Authority is a troll and I love him, but I disagree with his advice most of the time.

If you mean like getting games from the eShop, there are other ways to get the games other than through the official store.

When I was playing Xenoblade 2 I couldn't stop thinking about how Amalthus is basically Seymour from FFX if Seymour was actually well-written and relevant:
>blue
>priest to a fictional religion that's super important in the setting due to potentially illegal means
>are actively ruining the entire world just out of spite
>both backstories involves a dead mom and affects them greatly when they were small kids with already shitty lives
>Junichi Suwabe
>seems like an ally at first, becomes an antagonist mid-game
Again, Amalthus is so much more interesting it's not funny. That, the setting itself and the characters designed by Nomura kind of makes me feel like the game could have been a FF game if it weren't for the director leaving Squaresoft.

>>277659Yes and no. Most social links are different in FemC route (original game didn't have any of the male party members as available social links) and ime all of the changes are infinitely better than the male social links. Male route has models of the characters and portraits during most of the cutscenes, FemC route is done more in visual novel style where it only has the character portraits. Things like personas you can summon are identical iirc (Orpheus has a different design depending on the MC's sex).
My friend started a male playthrough while we're sharing a FemC run. According to him the male route sucks so bad compared to the female route and he's only playing through it for completion's sake. I've never played male route because I can't stand the thought of my yandere lesbian robot waifu being straight and because of certain scenes that would be insufferable to play as a guy ("Operation Babe Hunt", 'nuff said.) If it's your first time playing P3P, play FemC. She's infinitely better and has some sassy dialogue options that apparently aren't available in the male route. Playing FemC also gives you the option to choose between Elizabeth and Theodore as your Velvet Room attendant (picrel).
Sorry for mega sperg but FemC really is a better game according to most people who have played both. I hope you have fun playing Persona 3, nonna! I'd love to hear about your favorite characters and personas once you've had a chance to play a bit!

>>277659>>277661Having recently been playing both Male and Female MCs back and forth for a while since the game came out (as well as P4 cause my adhd ass can't just stay on one thing), my experience sofar is that–Male route is like, really written in that late 2000's latent sexist way, students flirting with teachers, bippy girlfriend social links that kinda forces you into cheating, etc, it's a bit of ick on the side of an otherwise great story, and the Female route has like, a lot of that really rewritten with most of the Male Route side characters replaced with honestly better written ones.
Like, I'm enjoying both experiences but like, if you're only planning on playing it through one time, I'd say maybe go the female route. If you're gonna play 'em over a lot go with your heart either way.

they're all cool as hell. i've never really seen a series that swerved so hard from turning its women into waifu caricatures…especially their older women.
in picrel, everyone's late forties. barring the first woman who's maybe in her thirties. their age is never brought up as a joke or "mommy" fetishization.
it's tough to find anywhere to talk about that isn't annoying in some way though (discord's full of enbies and dominated by moids besides, 4chan's as it always is, etc.)

Animal crossing; you’ve probably already played this or it’s crossed your mind.
Ooblets; heck yeah! Dumb tumblr humor and lol random but I found it really fun and very chill. It’s been buggy in the past but while I played it it was being patched, don’t know what state it’s in now but when I left it was playable.
Littlewood; so cute and chill, kind of repetitive but suffers from poor memory management (double check before you buy/play because it melted my laptop!)
Journey; oldie but a goodie! You fly around in this one too and if you get lucky you’ll find someone along the way to share the journey.
Stardew; you’ve probably played but it is a very chill game, highly recommend if you like farm games.
Super motherload; a dig down game, good fun solo or if you want to couch coop. Very linear but super chill.
Cloudpunk; good story, flying cars, very different atmosphere to the rest but I was sad when I finished it.
I recommend looking them up before you buy just to see if the aesthetics appeal and if there are any major bugs still floating around. Some of them can be played in an hour (journey, a short hike), a few hours (super motherload, Cloudpunk) or just indefinitely (stardew, animal crossing). Hopefully I’ve mentioned something you haven’t heard of before.
I haven’t got that far into Eastward yet, so I could just be salty. I’d recommend trying to find some gameplay reviews that don’t have spoilers to get more of an idea about its mechanics, it’s nothing like I thought it’d be based on what id seen and the start of the game (which kind of led me to think it wasn’t as serious as I thought it’d be and was actually just going to be a chill puzzle story game).

>>282924Atelier series is just sad. The older games were geared towards female players and could even romance male characters. Around Rorona it started attracting a lot of moids and with Sophie the series became lot more scrotish then finally with Ryza they hit the nail to the coffin. Recent games won't even let you romance male characters(even if one has a crush on the main character, like in Nelke) and male character designs become worse and worse, while female characters become more and more coomerish. It's just another generic scrote pandering yuri series now. And since Ryza apparently sold better than all of the previous series combined, this is probably how this series will continue to be.
At the same time, though, Ryza's story is pretty normal and not that creepy like the character designs suggests. Maybe there is hope?

I wish I had way more free time so I could go through my backlog. I think mine is kind of reasonable now because I have almost everything I wanted, the only game I want that I don't have yet is the new Bayonetta spinoff which was released just yesterday, and I don't have that many games I want to play among the ones I haven't started and finished yet. But they're so long. And I really want to replay some of them because of NG+ features and I want to replay all the mainline Pokemon games like right fucking now to compensate for SV being shit (supposedly, I haven't played it and we'll see how it'll go with patches and the DLC). I'm in the middle of P5R and I wish I could skip all the social links and cutscenes to play the actual game for some reason, I think I grew out of the how social aspect of the Persona games a while ago and I want to explore dungeons and complete the compendium.
How do anons with long backlogs deal with it? I really want to know. I'm posting screeshots of games I like little by little to keep track of my progress but I'm nearly considering streaming games once I play on NG+ mode for some of them if I ever have the opportunity to get a way more powerful computer and a decent mic.

I started this a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving this guy. He's hot and snarky for sure, and it's made better by the fact that he's 30 (not that old, but older than average for JRPG ikemen). He's a detective-type character, and I think it's cute that he calls his Watson "little lamb", much to the guy's chagrin. And to top it all off, despite being the type of character who always seems like he has the upper hand while knowing more than he lets on, his cross paths with the younger girls, Agnea and Ochette, both involve him getting unintentionally bullied by them. It's cute and fun to see! He also does paper puppet theatres to proselytize to local kids, and the kids make fun of him when he forgets parts of the story. The little bit of pathetic spice really rounds out the character of this silver-tongued inquisitor investigating a string of cult-related murders.
I'm just enjoying the characters a lot more overall than I did with the first game. I also learned my lesson after having played the first, and am taking my time slowly exploring the world… 40 hours passed in the blink of an eye and I've still only barely scratched the game's surface. From what I hear, this isn't just a me thing– there's tons to do and see. Probably will be a strong contender for most enjoyable game of the year for me.

The Switch version of Voez comes with a button mode has anyone played it and can recommend it?

Time-travel stories aren't for everybody, but essentially the game has you puzzle-solving as you travel across multiple timelines to change fate, and the number of unlocked timelines affects which ending you get. The combat is based on a push/shove system in which you stack enemies across a grid and do damage based on positioning.

There are premade replies available and it's not hard to play even if you don't understand the text technically, but since making conversation is the entire point of the game that would be boring I guess. I'm loving Octopath Traveler 2, but it'll also be the last game I buy in this series if they make more. I'm old now and I need a JRPG to either blow me away with a well-crafted and cohesive story or be more heavily gameplay focused with a strong sense of accomplishment after clearing its difficulty. Not that I regret the purchase, I'm reliving how nice it felt the first time around to explore this beautiful world. They certainly realized a lot of the potential from the first. It's just an awful lot of easy time to spend for stories that never quite make it past the "wow" mark.

I have a very specific question so I don't know if anyone will be able to help me out, but:
I bought this geekshare case and I love it. My left joy con just started to drift, and since I bought my switch second hand, I can't really go to an authorized Nintendo store and ask them to fix it because I don't have the original receipt (those are the requirements in my country at least)
So I am considering buying some third party joycons (I'll attach the video later), but I'm worried it might not fit anymore. The changes are very subtle, but since that case is kinda "stiff", I don't know if it will adapt to the new joycons.
TL;DR: anyone with third parties joycon own a geekshare/stiff case and do they work together? Thanks!

I've been meaning to post something about this game for awhile but haven't been in the mood
I figured some anons may be interested in this game. I have only played the demo of Rising Star 2 but I did eventually purchase the full game. I recommend trying the demo, it offers a lot and I didn't even get though the whole demo before I decided I definitely wanted this game.
>It's been awhile since I played so I may misremember things
This game is band management styled game. You can decide to what the theme of your band is and depending on where your starter city is they may like your band's message which can make you more or less popular. You can make members or recruit people from advertisements. Some people will vibe better than others. There are also easy, normal, and hard modes. You put music together through puzzle making (no making your own music sounds though can upload your own music to avoid hearing the same thing). Different people have different writing skills for different things. You can upload your own images and use the in-game editor to make album art, uniforms, banners. etc. The in-game editor also has a lot of fonts and images. Backstory on names: When I played the demo people were mad at Doja Cat for canceling in South America and messaging the kid from Stranger Things to hook her up with that actor. I saw some comments call her like Azealia Banks and so that's where the names come from
I decided to make an all girl band named Azealia Cat. I made two women originally, then allowed two other women to join from the advertisement sections. They all melded nicely with a 99% likability between the band. I started in my actual hometown doing side jobs like delivering CDs to record stores, and passing out flyers for other bands. I had the group go out and buy their first instruments and amplifiers which were the cheapest they could afford alongside supplies (you have to keep a supply of drumsticks and I believe guitar picks). They kept up this practice of working and practicing until I got lazy and wanted to release an album though their practice levels weren't high enough. They independently released their first album "Broke With Expensive Pink" and went off to perform.Because their practice levels weren't super high people thought they were just okay, and no managers took interest in them. That's okay they were going to keep practicing until someone noticed them I'm not much of a writer

Though I would be happy with just the vanilla P3 route (as long the remake itself is good & Ryoji gets more than 3 lines with MC, I was so indifferent about him on the base route…), I really hope it will include both male & female routes along with The Answer, it sucks being the only Persona game without a “complete” edition.
I will miss the experimental-looking original cutscenes, but that Yukari mook-up clip (I’m guessing it’s not actual gameplay) looks good, so I hope it will be an ok remake.
Everyone talks about P2, but I hope P1 gets a remake too, Maki’s story was wonderful and people keep refusing to touch that game. At least P2 got the fujobait to get people into playing it.

on a murder-suicide mission he imposed on himself after being orphaned, which ended with him witnessing 2 deaths in feomt of him and everything that comes with the daek hour at 10yo and instead of exploring how all that affected him and helping him to cope, they decided to make his link a shotacon bait. He has the potential to be a great character and they wasted it.
>>288974Yeah, the lack of team mates social links and the female ones being romance-only is the biggest fault in the male route & why I prefer the Femc one too. The party members are more independent in P3 than in the other games, so without the links you won't grow as attached to them since they don't interact with you that much during the story in the first place.

Or maybe they don't plan to include FeMC and they wanted a low effort way to bring her to newer consoles. No one understands how Atlus' business work, not even Atlus themselves.
I don't think they announce the remake until next year to not upset people who bought the port though.

>>289273The most memorable for me that hasn't been mentioned were the GBA Mineral Town games. I played both the male and female carts and they are, to this day, probably some of the most nostalgic games for me.
The DS Harvest Moon mentioned by another nonna was also good, it was probably the buggiest HM game that I played but I played both the male and female versions of them as well. The best friend system for the female version is cute.
Also mentioned by somebody else, Island of Happinesa is great. Visually, it's not as nice as the other two IMO, but I like that it didn't require me to buy separate male and female versions.
Some of the later HM games got really bloated with task and daily cutscene animations that would take forever. I din't know the exact demarcation, but games around the time if ANB onward are not the best, although I've heard that the later SoS games have improved on this somewhat. Personally, I think that the SoS games lack a certain warmth that was present in earlier HM games.

hi nonnies, I'm totally in game limbo and I'd like some recs for games with no combat (or only a tiny bit of it, like 5% of the game)–it's fine if they have difficulty in other ways.
I tried and didn't like: dredge, potion craft, citizen sleeper, okami, elden ring (which is weird bc I finished all the DSs bloodborne included), hogwarts legacy (feels like an action movie…), animal cross new horizons.
for reference here's what I like: Outer Wilds, ihatovo monogatari on SNES, rune factory 4, sunless seas, majora's mask, legend of mana, all the classic ace attorneys, inscryption, a short hike, dwarf fortress, omori and a few other rpg maker type ones, 999/virtue's last reward..also I do kind of like visual novels but finding immersive and non male-orientated ones is hard. I was interested in boku no natsuyasumi (a game about summer vacation) until I realized it has 0 english translation. And I do like town life/social sim kind games, it's just kind of hard to find ones that aren't grindy nor stiff-feeling. I'm playing moon rpg at the moment and while it is deliciously cryptic it's hard to pick up and play, unfortunately.

nonnie, I am terrible at parry/dodge unless I spend a lot of time on one game, which is why I prefer the stealth approach. I prefer being able to sell them in case I didn't like it or simply want some extra money, plus I enjoy looking at the cover art and if I'm spending money, at least be it something I can actually own rather than data.
I don't like having my games bound to a console either, getting the data back if the console suddently breaks or something is too troubblesome, specially since it's Nintendo.
I think digital is only convenient if you carry your console around or move your housing relatively often, so you don't have to carry all your games.
The only times I buy digital is if there's no physical version of the game, though in that case (unless its a unknown/small game I want to show support for) I just pirate since I get the same experience as buying it but for free kek.

So I just gave up and bought the game on Steam, and years after that I finally looked at the cracked version again (which I hadn't deleted) and this time I knew what to do to get it to run kek. I just needed to replace one file or a few files.
I mean, it can't be that hard to crack a Steam game yourself, right? I hate DRM so much

>>294508DRM is the bane of my existence, makes games run worse on top of being so hard to crack the only people who know how to remove it are some trannies. And if none of the very few groups who are able to crack it aren't interested in the game you want, you can kiss it goodbye.
(I don't know how to apply patches myself, sorry. Everything I have downloaded was either ready to use or came with its own installer/patcher)

>>294503Then we are screwed. Nobody cares for some indie game 10 people in total bought. Luckily, this search engine is very effective:
>https://ravegamesearch.pages.devand I was able to find what I couldn't get on Steam Unlocked.
It lists Russian piracy forums too. Thank you, anon!
>>294507Can you post requests on that sub?

>>294754Unfortunately it's still a glorified decorating game. They added a few new dialogues, but you have to talk to the same villager a few times one after another to get one, and they aren't that good.
I stopped playing because the lack of dialogue too, decorating is fun but villagers are where most of AC's soul is in, now they're just akin to NFTs to sell on Nookazon and serve almost no use other than compliment your island decoration lmao.
