It became very clear to me what kind of loser resorts to racism once I went abroad to study, and they tell on themselves all the time.
On paper I was just the same as any foreign person, but they always did mental gymnastics to justify why some immigrants are okay but not others. It boiled down to stereotypes and bigotry. Sometimes they argued that [group they don’t like] did something they consider wrong and it was things people from my country also do but it’s okay when we do it (e.g. loud white Americans vs. loud Nigerians).
Another argument that fell flat was the typical Schrödinger’s immigrant where they somehow take their jobs but are also unemployed and stealing benefits. After speaking to them for 10 minutes you see the truth: they’re retarded, lazy and most often addicted to something. It was mostly white guys who said nonsense like this which is laughable, because anyone who’s lived here will know it’s really hard for an immigrant to get work over a local because they don’t trust foreigners and their degrees. There’s also a language requirement for most jobs, so if local white dudes from HR hire a foreign person, let alone a brown woman, over a typical local white dude you just know he’s super mega retarded, an addict, or both.
Thirdly, one thing they love to argue is that they just want immigrants or local minorities to integrate. Of course, when they try there’s always an excuse as to why they’re good enough. They even tell black people who were born here to go back to their country or learn the language better, when it’s their native language. They never say this to ~expats~ from the UK or the USA who have lived here for decades and don’t speak a word of the language or hang out with locals. Somehow those are ok.

For me personally the issue is trivial because my work takes up a lot of my mental capacity end can be quite exhausting, I can only simply acknowledge that there is a deeper rooted issue when it comes to racism and I have to tell myself everyday that I only have the power to try to fix what is in front of me right here and right now and picking at matters I don’t have more knowledge or understanding of doesn’t help the work I am doing. What's most concerning is the amount of young people that are spending all day, everyday, smoking up and doing nothing with their lives. It's depressing. I don't think that the sale of cannabis should have ever been legalized, it should have stayed decriminalized and kept in small circles.

I don't see them showing a biased narrative. If they really wanted to lie and present a biased narrative (Al Jazeera in this case) then I don't think we'd see such mixed opinions. Context also matters when it comes to reading any news source.
For example, a lot of people believed that most Russians were in favor of the war in Ukraine due to some poll. However the context is that public, vocal opposition would land them in jail, so what do you expect the people being polled to say when pressed? Same for people believing that hijab is mainly a choice. The women are raised from birth being told that the sight of their hair and body are sinful and that it's their fault if a man assaults them because they were uncovered and being tempting. And yet there are so many women who get beaten by their relatives or a neighbors at a moment's notice if they so much as dare to wear it slightly out of place.
In this case, most older South Africans have not let go of old cultural privileges and still think of themselves as above black people whom they were used to employing as maids, field workers, etc. and when they go abroad, they tend to treat even white servers and service people poorly because of that entitled attitude they were raised with (same as many Israeli tourists who believe they are superior by birthright). I'm all for recognizing genocides but white genocide is about as real as trans genocide.
