Aki's shitstorm last month should've been a HUGE thing but everyone is so fucking bored with it all that nobody cared. She's gone, she barely had any kind of impact, it's over. The only thing you can say about Aki is that she made the same ballad 200 times and she voices one of the worst English vocaloids every recorded. The vocaloid fandom is such a small microcosm of nonsense that even people who LIVE for the drama can't find the energy to dig up dirt or anything like that. It's just fucking BORING. The "main celebrities" of the vocaloid fandom are fucking boring. They're not broken in any way that's interesting, they're just BAD at making music and art and are socially maladjusted. Revolocities just got into a huge controversy about how they're literally taking 400 dollar+ commissions and just not delivering art, and are specifically asking for clients to not ask for a refund because "boohoo my mental health". Rev also was in some kind of fucking goon squad with Echoblossom and cheezum back in 2015 and they got called out for making fun of autistic and disabled people in their private group chat with some INSANE receipts but nobody fucking cares because these people have committed the biggest crime of all: being BORING. That is the BIGGEST sign of a dead fandom, when even the milk has gone sour and the teats are dry. It's time to pack up it my friends. Not to go on and on and on about it, but the last thread got really fucking pathetic near the end. Do any of you guys actually care about this shit? It's such weak sauce drama, there's nothing here. Not really milky but misha (VA for Ruby) is trying to sort of revive ruby over on DiffSinger. Too bad Ruby sounds like a nasally mess. the demo they released isn't that bad but come on… Ruby was a shitty drama-filled product that's best left behind. I wonder how it feels to know that she and Syo (ruby's programmer) directly contributed to killing english vocaloid development because they were so terrible to work with that powerfx literally said fuck it we're not doing it any more. They would feel bad if they were actually held accountable or felt any kind of emotion other than narcissism.

I don't know if it was covered in a previous thread, but the tldr is that Misha and Syo already had a history of being… let's say "terminally online" and extremely unprofessional and rude to people (Syo had a screenshot on his twitter of him adding words like "pussy" and "cunt" into Ruby's dictionary, and Misha would always vaguepost about other people's projects. When called out the usual response was "fuck you we're vocaloid peeps now").

PowerFX went to reveal Ruby at some con, don't remember which. They revealed a dseign that featured a white-skinned woman, and syo/misha lost their SHIT, called for an active boycott of powerfx with a hashtag (#saveruby or something) and accused powerfx of being racist and whitewashing ruby because they had their own art of Ruby as a latina woman done by Natasha Allegri (who backed out of the project after this, but we don't know specfically why I don't think). everyone was on board with the boycott and were burning powerfx at the stake, until powerfx themselves released emails and screenshots. It turns out that they used that white design of ruby because syo and misha continually missed their deliverable deadlines, wouldn't show up to meetings, wouldn't send the files and paperwork, and were generally avoidant and unprofessional. Essentially, their release deadline was upon them and they needed a design, so they used a backup one that they had.

Misha and Syo never released an apology, but they did HEAVILY back down off of the hashtag and boycott after this all come to light. It became extremely awkward in the community because everyone knew what had just happened was like… reverse-wokism? something like that. But nobody really wanted to talk about it or actually hold those two responsible because they were so big in the community and the whole thing just felt so… yeah.

right after this, PowerFX announced they were retiring from vocaloid because it was a headache to work with community people and the returns weren't great, so Ruby was there last vocaloid.(TL;DR, post screenshots)

Honestly Tora quitting is sort of the final stage of a Vocaloid content producer… or it should be. Once you hit a certain maturity point it becomes difficult to engage with the fandom (not just Vocaloid, but most fandoms in general), not to mention how much shit Tora has stirred and how much it must be following him lol.

Aki only recently quit and it was a long time coming. She was this almost 40 year old weird lady who would hang around the Vocaloid fandom and call strangers "my dear" and "darling", trying to put off a sort of fun elder vibe but it's just fucking pathetic. When you grow up, you move on. There was no reason for her to be here as long as she did, and Tora is no different. This shit moves in waves; eventually even big Western names like Circus will move the fuck on.

KIRA might be an anomaly because he has struck a goldmine with his music and is getting BIG commissions and numbers. He might actually be able to make a career out of it.

In all, the Vocaloid fandom is one of the most toxic fandoms I've EVER seen. People are just fuckin waiting to jump on you and point fingers in order to hide the shit they themselves are doing. Remember when Pocaloid was a huge thing and everyone would set up literal witchhunts for people using pirated software when they themselves were also using it? I get why Tora is leaving.

But I also wanted to see him stir up some drama one last time, since he's so good at it. His covers are nothing inspired and he really only became popular because he knew how to speak internet and appeal to the recent wave of upcoming Vocaloid fans (gay culture, AAVE slang, memes, that kind of stuff). His content lacks substance; it's garbage. People only like him because he is the archetype of the catty gay terminally online person and people gravitate towards that for some reason. Just like how broody, emo, multiple-personality disorder producer were really popular back in the day (like GHOST, Crusher) although thankfully that seems to be dyign down a LITTLe bit.

Speaking on Tora's "mental health", it is so funny that he says that when he is literally the cause of all of the shit bugging him. He could simply not be a bitch and it everything would be fine.
