>>490833Honestly I think that the lack of variation in the designs they've been turning out is one of the biggest things that makes current Niji feel different than the old Niji I'm nostalgic for (both are good in their own right, though). Some might say it's just a liver's appearance and it doesn't matter much, but it does inform the basis of how a liver presents themselves beyond aesthetic, I think. These are extreme examples, but kuroshiba and Chaika as normal anime character designs would be completely different.
>I also can't help but worry that eventually there'll be TOO many livers and they won't be all able to get enough supportI'm actually always astounded that Niji gets up to all the 3D activities that it does. Hololive has issues with the studio almost always being booked out as is with the smaller talent pool and had to put restrictions on how many lives they're entitled to each year. I think Niji does a lot more regular 3D programming like the student council, gacha lever daipan, chronoir, and rofmao's shows (I'm aware not all of these are still active) on top of the various individual liver 3d debuts and performances… It's a logistical feat they pull off decently given what they're working with.
Also this reply is so late but I just want to say thanks for the actual discussion! It's kind of rare in this thread!

>>493660AYRT It's ironic you say this because I've also heard complaints and criticisms that Cover has way more 3D staff than it actually needs. But here we have actual talents saying something, so shows what fans know kek.
I will say though that on average a Cover 3D showing has higher quality than a Nijisanji one– a lot of the Nijisanji 3D showings I referenced are just them in what looks like a stock produced setting with minimal prop interaction, the really labor intensive stuff comes during big performances. Meanwhile Hololives scale down was saying that fully produced birthday and anniversary lives for every single talent is just logistically not that feasible.
Also keep note that it's mostly Astel talking here. Holostars has it's own issues that I don't really think are related to logistics– about a year back or so Holo started scaling down the resources they previously unconditionally funneled to the Stars. Not interested in saying who is at fault here because it's a confusing vortex of them not really bringing in results relative to the girls but the company also being frustrating at times.

>>493912I went down a rabbit hole of searching up things about this vtuber and a tranny tried to get with her (picrel). Apparently when she first started the troon was her only whale. He paid for a lot of her necessities and even bought diapers for her daughter. She made him a mod and he was planning on a trip to meet her. They went as far as flirting in dms. I've seen some /vt/ anons say that the tranny only wanted to get with her to groom her daughter, which whilst unsurprising I can't find any proof of. I don't know if there's any more info or updates out there. Ray has gotten a lot more popularity since then and Flayon from holostars has raided her in the past.
Apparently this is the tranny
https://x.com/Lexycon94Trying to convince her audience that everything about this is fucked up would be less productive than talking to a brick wall. Unsurprisingly there's a lot of pedos talking about her daughter on /vt/. I understand that as a single mother she has to earn money someway, that single mothers are still quite taboo in Japan and that earning money working at home as a vtuber allows her to spend more time with her daughter. It's not as though she can hide the fact that she has a daughter as a single mom, the daughter naturally makes noise in the background. I understand all of that. Still, even if it's not her daughter's real face this is approaching levels of child actor to me. Child actors are a bad thing for a reason. You never know if the people watching are pedos or not and I worry about stalkers. You'd have to be insanely naive to not believe there's actual pedos watching. She's essentially making her kid into a public person before the kid is old enough to consent to that.

>>493601>the lack of variation in the designs they've been turning out is one of the biggest things that makes current Niji feel different than the old NijiWell, it's something that's bound to happen when you want to prioritize appealing to a less niche, more general public and you do what's known to work. The designs play a big part in what they've been trying to do lately, and that is going further down the idol route for their popular existing units and newer debuts. All in all, this isn't a negative thing overall as this also means getting to do some really cool stuff, but there's definitely both pros and cons to this new approach. I've seen some fans express a bit of disappointment over a lot of content feeling a bit more pre-planned and 'influenced' by management nowadays, when in the past there was more of a casual vibe and livers just doing what they really want to do. Not to mention, increased idol reps usually mean decreased stream time too. All this is an issue with Holo as well, I remember seeing a clip of I think Pekora? saying that management would prefer her to 'focus' on the idol and off stream work instead of streaming. I try not to worry about these things too much when it comes to my oshis though, I can really only hope that management isn't pushing and overworking them.
>Hololive has issues with the studio almost always being booked out as is with the smaller talent pool and had to put restrictions on how many lives they're entitled to each year. This has always surprised me as well, with Holo's talent count I feel like it should be way easier to manage. But that's also why I feel like Niji will eventually hit a ceiling as well and have more talents than what they can manage. So I'm glad that they've slightly slowed down on the acceleration, and hopefully they can give their existing talents proper support instead. I already see people complain about ''favoritism'' because some livers get to appear in a weekly 3D show, while their oshi doesn't have the luxury.
>Also this reply is so late but I just want to say thanks for the actual discussion! It's kind of rare in this thread!Same here! Trying to talk about vtubers in english-speaking spaces can be exhausting at times as so much of the focus goes to the drama and the stupid corpo wars, people rarely want to discuss things from a more objective standpoint or just talk about their oshis with no drama of any kind involved.
>>493839>I will say though that on average a Cover 3D showing has higher quality than a Nijisanji oneThat's definitely true, although Niji does manage to pull through and do some genuinely cool 3D stuff as well, it's just that it's often locked behind the paid concerts. I thought Kuroi shiba's 3D debut was pretty impressive though.
The general 3D quality is still pretty decent, but also not too spectacular. It would be nice if Holo also gave their talents the option to do 'simpler' 3D performances instead of giving them no options at all aside from the high-production ones (which are limited).

>>495378Speaking of Ina's new outfit, Flare was streaming at the same time and interrupted the game to watch Ina's stream on a separate monitor, and I think it was at this point where I got real tired of her over-the-top fangirling. The "ore no Ina" thing was endearing at first but I can't really buy into it since they've never had a one-to-one collab or even meaningfully interacted with each other in any of the big events. Noel fangirls over Subaru too, but at least they've interacted with each other for years and some of the unhinged stuff Noel does like the creepy Minecraft shrine or the recent "Which Holomem Wuvs Subaru the Most" stream is kind of funny.
I always thought Flare had issues standing out when in her Gen she's flanked by Pekora and Marine, but I feel like it's gotten worse now that her character is boiled down to "IRyS's friend" or "Ina's fangirl".
Oh, yeah, Ina's outfit, I like it. I can't get enough of the classic school uniform look.

I've thought about this before, but for the other nonnies with female oshis, would you collab with them? >>494167>All this is an issue with Holo as well, I remember seeing a clip of I think Pekora? saying that management would prefer her to 'focus' on the idol and off stream work instead of streaming. For sure, it's unfortunate though because while most of the newer hires come in with the obvious expectation that they'll be doing a lot of idol activities, it's not necessarily something that a lot of the old guard put first and foremost. I'd expect Pekora in particular to take umbrage with that insinuation because she's always been a very passionate streamer who views it as an actual craft. Marine's even said (not very seriously) that collabing with Pekora can be difficult because of how perfectionist she is about every detail.
I'm glad Niji actually doesn't seem to push the idol element as hard on talents that aren't into it. They don't seem to do a ton with SakuYui as a unit for example, relative to their popularity, and I suspect it's because those two joined to play games first and foremost. I have a hard time seeing Sasaki scaling down her streaming in favor of more idol activities haha.
Personally, I definitely compartmentalize what I go to the different orgs for, though, so while I like Holo upping the idol anti I'm always a little wistfully sad about Niji barreling down that route as well (I know it's profitable). I've always gone to Niji for the variety show atmosphere and while that commodity persists it feels more and more like a side dish to idol stuff sometimes.
>So I'm glad that they've slightly slowed down on the accelerationI was surprised when I first heard about how drastically they'd altered and downscaled their recruitment process! But I do agree, it's for the better. People make such a big hubbub about every little Niji graduation as a sign of a black company, and while I think it sort of makes sense for EN given the stories livers tell post-grad, I think it's unfair when it comes to JP companywise? I feel this way about Holo too, it's a job and people will leave, which makes space for new blood to breathe and shine. Nijisanji's exit-entry ratio was really skewed for a while, so while they're still jam-packed to the brim it makes sense to slow down new debuts.
Complaints about "favoritism" are funny… A branch NijiJP's size would have to grow multiplefold in profits and support staff to give every liver exactly equal promotion, I think. They do pretty well, everything considered.
>Trying to talk about vtubers in english-speaking spaces can be exhausting at times as so much of the focus goes to the drama and the stupid corpo wars, people rarely want to discuss things from a more objective standpoint or just talk about their oshis with no drama of any kind involved.I know, right? Disagreements are bound to occur but it's genuinely interesting neutrally discussing how the big companies compare and contrast. And it's not like the vtubers we love have enmity between them themselves, so why the squabbling…
>It would be nice if Holo also gave their talents the option to do 'simpler' 3D performances instead of giving them no options at all aside from the high-production onesI wonder if it's a brand standard issue for Holo that prevents them from doing that? As in, Holo doesn't want the appearance of lowering quality. Because it otherwise seems like an obvious solution to the impacted resources and scheduling.
I'll have to check out Kuroi Shiba's 3D debut! I haven't watched her maybe years…? I've been meaning to revisit her now that I have decent Japanese comprehension, I've heard she's pretty good for learners.

>>495512>it's not necessarily something that a lot of the old guard put first and foremostExactly, everyone that joined early on kinda got fucked over because all this idol stuff isn't really what they signed up for, and that's why I really can't blame any of them for choosing to eventually leave. I also know that some of their fans also aren't that happy with streams not being prioritized as much, when it used to be their main thing in the past. Even as someone that does enjoy the 3D lives and all that, it's a bit of a shame that streaming gets sidelined for it (especially when streams are something the talent themselves wants to focus on).
I definitely can't see SakuYui putting their 100% into idol activities, they might appear on stage here and there but they're more of
a comedy duo. I look forward to their April Fools joke every year, I can appreciate the effort they put into it every time. Imo Niji does a good job in letting the livers pick what they want to focus on, whether it's variety/entertainment, streaming or idol activities. Although this only really applies to older talents nowadays, as they seem to prioritize hiring people who want to properly put time into singing and dancing. But at least the option does exist, while I'm sure that it'd be difficult for the Holo girls to turn down idol opportunities, which is why sadly graduation ends up becoming a realistic choice for some of them.
>it's a job and people will leave, which makes space for new blood to breathe and shine.Sadly that's how it works and I'm sure we'll keep seeing graduations as people near their 7-8th anniversaries this year. I do think that people accepted a lot of the recent NijiJP graduations pretty peacefully (as long as they didn't come with drama) because, as sad as it is, it's bound to happen at this point in time. Even if you account for the inevitable graduations, Niji could stop debuting livers for like 1-2 years and still do well, though.
>it's not like the vtubers we love have enmity between them themselves, so why the squabbling…Yeah, I always found it kinda funny how I'd see people posting about the latest Holo vs Niji drama, but then I'd take a look at the streams for the day, and there would be a NijiJP/HoloJP collab. I know that the corpo rivarly does exist among japanese fans as well, but at least the talents can collab together freely and it won't cause trouble.
>I wonder if it's a brand standard issue for Holo that prevents them from doing that? That could be it, but is not letting your talents do more than X amount of lives really much better? To my knowledge, sometimes they even end up using non-Cover studios for certain 3D stuff anyway, so it seems like a dumb and limiting decision.
>Not to make a long response even longer, but how're things with your oshis (I'm not sure if ChroNoir as a duo unit are both your kamioshis) lately?I would say I tend to prioritize their content together, but I do try to keep up with their individual activities to the best of my abilities as well(although watching 100% of their streams is pretty much impossible). They actually have a performance at Budoukan soon, except it's for Kuronan so it'll be more focused on variety and there won't be any singing. It's kinda funny that they're not performing as idols at Budoukan of all places, but it's pretty fresh and I'm looking forward to see what they come up with (plus I'm kinda expecting a concert announcement at the end anyway).
Also, Kanae got a maid outfit and I still can't believe it's real.

My favorite is how Laplus acts like a delinquent and provokes people on-stream, but Miko, Fubuki and Noel say she's really sweet irl. During holoGTA, Kanade even thanked Laplus because she brought treats for staff, which they then shared with ReGLOSS, but Laplus told her to shut up because it's embarrassing kek.
>>495719Honestly if you can get past the porn noises, she's still the chill gamer cat who has a beautiful singing voice. I do watch her when she's in collabs since she tones it down a lot, but it's just a shame she had to go full coomer.

>>497052What concerns me the most about Okayu is that this is somebody she became during her time in Holo and the way she talks about who she'd like to be in the future.
I don't innately have an issue with talents that like to play up a sexual angle, Marine for example still maintains a very sexualized character while overtly having a strong sense of self, as does Ririka. But predebut Okayu was fairly overweight by JP standards and likely never experienced the kind of male attention she started getting as Okayu, and then slowly became an increasingly defanged, overly saccharine version of her prior self. When she talks so frequently about how after x many years she hopes she's become an even more sexually alluring woman, it doesn't evoke a sense of real confidence. And out of the members of Hololive, I'd rank her in the top 5 of talents who are extremely attached to their fans.
It's just not a healthy base to grow off of. I say this as a nonna whose most watched streamer is Okayu, I think she has a lot of great traits. But the glimpses of her mentality she lets out are worrying.

Kotoka is graduating. I don't have any strong opinions about her but I dislike it when vtubers graduate after making the company make them a new outfit that they use for literally just one stream. That could have gone to someone who will actually use it instead. The outfits take a while but she could stop it in the middle to avoid even more financial loss. In Niji the outfits are not dependent on your earnings so I kinda see this as Koto wasting the money I gave to the company through my oshi so my oshi could get new outfits and 3D.

The logistic issue comes from how impacted they are as Holo does seem to try to give big service to the EN and JP girls' fans through performances and events even if the talent has a smaller following.

nonny. Its clear to me that COVER wanted only Mococo in their EN gen, but both of them insisted on their decade-long twin gimmick. I really like watching Mococo's POV and solo streams, and when they stream together I only check the FWMC mornings. Fuwawa's voice is lovely, don't get me wrong, but I would personally be a fan of hers if she were more…different, if that makes sense? Mococo acts like a charming and funny gal, playing into her ditzy and wholesome shtick a lot, when Fuwawa is just…there? It also doesnt help that Mococo's design is more unique and colorful, and that with her easy-going persona makes her far more approachable.
No. 499784
>>499572(AYRT) Wow word for word felt like I wrote this re: the difference between the two. I don't really hate Fuwawa either, but she lacks substance that allows you to like the streamer beyond the gimmick. Mococo's more clear about her likes and dislikes and generally seems to be more sensitive– when they have to tell the Ruffians, "Hey, don't do this." it's always framed as seomthing that bothered Mococo or hurt her feelings. Fuwawa's a bit too frictionless.
Not sure about Mococo being the only one Cover wanted, though– the twins gimmick really sells and I think they're one of the few duos that could have made sharing a channel work without significant risk of issues down the line, on account of their codependence.
I do think a lot about which design was / was closer to the original single design before Cover hired twins, though. Unless they were scouted, which I know Cover does do on rare occassions.

I'm not talking about mama alone. It's part of it, but mainly it's about connections to past life. Thus includes keeping the fan name, which you mentioned. That's also not trademarked. Just like there's no need to give up their connection to their mama or siblings, there's no reason to give up a fan name (unless it's Trademarked).
Also note that Niji was so mismanaged that they didn't even get proper NDAs signed from all graduating streamers (Michi being an example) so I doubt they trademarked things.
>Doki didn't acknowledge (or like or share) fanart of Elira getting rapedDoes doki even have danbooru? Is she responsible for constantly looking up ex coworkers who threw her under the bus? And how do you know it's not just ex-Elira fans? Or fans of one of the guys she's spoken to on stream?
Did vox ever take responsibility for reimu? After bringing her up during gfe asmr? Iirc, he just ignored the issue for quite a while. Doki hasn't individually brought up any of her Niji coworkers. She has zero obligation to acknowledge niji chuubas
As for Elira (and ike & vox) specifically, who were going to be her version of Kotoka & Finana by ruining her career, she has every right to actually insult them. But she hasn't actually done it.
> Livers getting harassedThey set her up to get harassed. If they're getting the hate that they tried to send her way, they should get over it. I've never seen a black stream member apologize for trying to ruin her career. Why should she care? Unlike those 3, she wasn't directly involved.

As for women in niji: I'll admit there were some good streamers but there are good strangers in Holo too. And it's hard to like then when they throw their female coworkers under to bus.
When Rushia got terminated, her genmates, coworkers (see: Cali & Holo Death) didn't go out of their way to slander her. It's one thing tho have beef with your ex-employee and another to use your other employees as meat shields.
But Zaion and Selen were smeared by some of their own coworkers. More specifically, female ones. Now that they've moved on, why should we watch corpo Vtubers when we have better indie options?

>>500637>Sankisei deliberate avoid any acknowledging rushia at all (with noel going as far as removing the rushia plushie from her background). NTAYRT but just wanted to clear this one up here: Noel had Rushia's plushie there until March 2024, more than TWO YEARS since she was terminated in February 2022. That plushie had been there longer than Advent has been around! Eventually she removed it for ~reasons~ (vidrel), but it's clear she has no bad blood for her.
It's the same with Pekora, she doesn't shy away from mentioning Rushia when appropriate:
>11 Feb 2023 HoloCure stream, talking about updates after hearing the 'Tonight is Halloween Night' BGM: "Ru-chan… she was here. There's proof she was here. Is there a chance she'll appear with 3rd Gen? I don't know. It's possible. She left a mark. It might be possible!" (spoilers: 3rd Gen update was in November 2024 and Rushia wasn't included)>11 Sept 2023 Minecraft stream, looking for diamonds: "Didn't I make a PekoRushi house for her 2nd anniversary? Rushia, thank you for everything. Thank you for the diamonds, too. Give them to Pekora!">same stream, reading a sign Haachama made claiming Rushia's house: "You can't do that! This is Rushia's house!"I don't know about Marine or Flare but then again it's been years since she's been gone, and AFAIK she wasn't that close with anyone when she was in holo, at least not close enough that they would regularly hang out off-stream, like Guutara/Choco-sensei and Kson/Coco. Really, it's less "deliberately avoiding any acknowledgment of Rushia" and more "there is nothing to say about Rushia". If you want "deliberately avoiding any acknowledgment", instead look at how awkward it is when Pekora and Miko play on the same servers at the same time while doing their best to absolutely ignore each other.

>>500426Every time somebody gets on a moral highground about being a Niji fan I remember that one nonna that tried to argue that Vox is for feminists kek. I don't think either org is morally better to watch than the other but when you argue that Niji is righteous in some way you're treading on thin ice.
The worst an ex-Holo as to say about Holo are general complaints about corpos taking cuts/limiting talent freedom that are applicable to Niji as well, or that they got burnt out (yet most of them made enough money or built a big enough of a following that they basically don't have to do real work for a long time). Whereas with Niji even if you exclude Selen the ex grads are complain about how it ruined their mental, how former coworkers were creeps, how Niji fucked over their finances, how they received no support from management, the list goes on.
The only way you could discount the plethora of statements coming out of Nijisanji's former livers would be being a tribalfag a grade A tribalfag who immediately disavows anybody who leaves the company.
Not to mention how strange it is to argue that Niji is normal and for women when a known sexpest was allowed to roam free until public dissent about it got big enough that Niji had to suspend him (and we're going on half a year of zero progress on the front).
You'll probably just discount this as more negging from another NijiEN anti (false) but get a grip. You're embarrassing yourself.

>>501064I feel a bit muddy about it too because of the work involved. Sure, the artists are usually industry professionals who aren't hurting for money (hopefully), but it still sucks that all that effort breathing life into a character gets wasted, essentially.
Tangentially related, I get but don't always like the change in content. For example, I liked Mysta back in the day, but Kuro's react content doesn't do it for me. I like the youtube format of streaming only one game per stream, and some ex-corpos do retain that (like Doki, Mint and Nimi) with more freedom to choose their games and content.
No. 501147
>>501141I love her and this is unrelated to her as a streamer, but Raora has the neediest and most coomery fanbase out of Justice, so I'd least expect her to have the highest female viewerbase.
The only way this makes sense to me is that Raora is the only member of Justice who presents a really unique skillset through her art. I think a lot of women who watch women just stick to Niji since it's also where their male oshis likely are, but Nijisanji EN doesn't have any professional level art streamers like Holo does so Raora and Ina are enough to occassionally pull them away.
That's just a reach and a hypothetical, though. IMO ERB is such a uniquely skilled singer in a market inundated with decent singers that I'd also consider her enough to pull somebody away from their usual viewing habits.
Unrelated, I feel like Hololive is very underrated when it comes to appreciating streams themselves as an art form beyond showcasing other skill sets. In the past few years various talents have really pulled off beautifully polished stunts through coordination and manipulation of OBS, in addition to storytelling. In this regard, I'd actually consider HoloStars to be best in the game as Flayon, Bettel, and Octavio are honestly just incredible at pulling off a story that is uniquely them and personal to them and their audience.
This is actually the main thing that keeps me watching Holo streamers over Niji. NijiJP manages to pull out something incredible from time to time as well, but all of EN's attempts at this have been so sloppy and cheaply produced that they're painful to watch. And then on the other end of the spectrum was Vox's ego-laden attempt at a story arc that drove away most of his core fans.

>>501147>I feel like Hololive is very underrated when it comes to appreciating streams themselves as an art form beyond showcasing other skill setsNTA, but interesting because i think the same with niji (ryushen's lyric/song-making werewolf game, the baseball tournaments, all the quiz/variety-like shows where you can see their creativity in their theme, chemistry and questions, mito's taiken reports, some of their script/ideas in their 3D streams, etc.) i do like watching Niji more because i also feel like they just get faster perms and have perms for games of more interesting variety than cover. IIRC from shinri's stream, they recently had to limit each member to 1 game request per month? idk if they changed it back though.
>In the past few years various talents have really pulled off beautifully polished stunts through coordination and manipulation of OBS, in addition to storytelling. In this regard, I'd actually consider HoloStars to be best in the gameif we're only speaking in the scope of big corpos. i think oga is one of the creative ones of holostars as well. how he scripted his anniversary streams and made everyone embarrass themselves by flirting with sushi nee-san, his ghost story improv series (for the raden fans, raden also did one with him recently), and his general humor during VCR and TRPGs

>>501181I was speaking mostly for EN! My phrasing may have sounded dismissive but I do think NijiJP is the OG when it comes to interesting stream concepts. To be honest I felt that the Corpo EN scene was really creatively bankrupt up until maybe Stars Vanguard's debut. Like, fans would come up with cool things, but the talents weren't putting out anything that really impressed me. Most of the interesting streamers applying creative minds to the streaming medium seemed to be in either JP or indie streaming before that.
Ryushen is definitely my favorite source for this, my favorite stream concept from them was the old battle royale stream where they got together with several other livers for a battle royale that was actually just them shooting the shit and fabricating insane battles between members lol. In terms of higher production streams, the male livers ikebo voice acting contest where they were one of the scenario writers was great too.
I get what you mean about StarsJP, although I feel like they've gotten a lot less ambitious with their concepts lately… and I had no idea that Raden collabed with Oga recently! I'll have to check it out.
This may be harsh of me but I don't really care what games streamers manage to get their hands on when they're corpo, I watch corpos mainly to see fun events and concepts that can be pulled off with corpo budget, support, and networking. For example, Fauna was my EN oshi and I actually think her graduating was for the better becuase she was just treading water as a performer outside of gaming and zatsudans. I do however think she's one of the most engaging game and chatting focused streamers in EN, though, and it's good that she can now just focus on that. She doesn't need corpo resources.
I might also be biased though because I prefer retro gamers and the big corpo scene is just generally not the most free in that regard. When I look for a particular game I want to see streamed, it's about a 50/50 that I'll find it with Niji or Holo. And because I prefer watching female streamers, it's an 90% chance I'll end up watching Holo between the streamers I recognize that have played the game.
Not to dismiss Niji's male talents with good taste, though. Mayunyun's Garage stream will always be legendary… I don't spend a lot of time on the general JP internet so maybe this is myopic of me, but when Garage got a modern release out of the blue I honestly attributed it to him raising conversation around the game.

>I watch corpos mainly to see fun events and concepts that can be pulled off with corpo budget, support, and networking. im the opposite and while i'll follow corpo graduates to their PL, if their game choice doesn't interest me, then i'll stop. but as indies they have more freedom. rather than big production events, i like corpos for finding new vtubers, though their fun events are a bonus that also help with that. it helps that niji has so many people, but an unfortunate downside to that are resources and stuff not being fairly distributed to all of them from what i've seen from the sponsorships.
>Mayunyun's Garage stream will always be legendary… I don't spend a lot of time on the general JP internet so maybe this is myopic of me, but when Garage got a modern release out of the blue I honestly attributed it to him raising conversation around the game.i love fandom power being used for something positive. sango reviving interest in spain mura just by talking about it and now she's making it a thing to take her coworkers there. there are wild fans out there in the JP and EN side, so it's nice to see when they aren't attacking others

She's the friend I wish I had; we'd talk about we'd talk about BL or JRPGs at the weekend but her twitterism filters me. I can't stand Finana's coomerism or her voice, but since they're friends, I tolerate her.
>PetraNot much to say about Petra, she's cute and occasionally talks about her interests, but it's as if she's just company for Rosemi.
>CeciliaI think she's suffering from burnout or something because he has too many playlists but most of them haven't been played in months. Quite a shame, she modded factorio to include fanbase sprites, and then abandoned the game just like that.

I know it's supposed to just be a default model for live2d but it just seems lazy to not even get someone to make a model. They've had a custom model for a while now but it's basically just a redraw of the generic model

>>503853>she modded factorio to include fanbase sprites, and then abandoned the game just like that.noticed other holopro drop some of their games or a few not stream as much. i dont pay attention to twitter so wonder if something is coming up in terms of official events? usually happens when things drop off. and i think the factorio CEO talked about "consensual" pedophilia so it's not a loss for me when there's a billion other sim games.
>>503858this. i can also see why there are yumes. he was surprisingly respectful of all the female vtubers he collabed with including the degen ones and never engaged with flirting IIRC, aside from the mom/dad bit. i've found some new vtubers to watch through him and i expected him to be degen because of neuro's model, but he's been relatively normal.
>>503847i find the complaining about it just as bad and it wouldn't be as annoying in the first place if anons just didnt contribute the situation by responding. even before /vt/ went down, oshi talk or general vtuber news/content are too often overlooked for infighting or complaining, even now.

Same on Elira by the way. There are a lot of vtubers where I'd gladly be friends with them as people but have no interest in sitting and watching them stream for hours of my time.

Any opinions on Grimmi? I only remember her from her being friends with Shinri's roommate, but recently I've been watching her and she seems chill with a nice voice.
>>504119Not surprised tbh, they were and still are the most normie Holo EN gen.
I do wonder how long Bae will stay. On one hand she's extremely committed to the work she does with Holo and probably has accomplished the most in her gen but on the other she has such a career woman mindset that I can't see her being happy with just this far into her 30s. She's one of the only HoloEN members I could actually see still having a very successful and well-paying career outside of content creation.
The other being, like… maybe Fauna but research would never have paid as well as streaming does for her.

>>504339I've only really ever seen that happen with chuubas who were proven selfposters on /vt/ already. Even if it did happen unreasonably it would be retarded.
If you have recs, especially if they're retro gamers or JP, I'd love to hear them.
>>504321I totally get this vibe now that you mention it. But I also feel like this atmosphere disappeared from Promise as time went on.
People schizo a lot about why Kronii and Fauna suddenly stopped interacting, and I'm not interested in doing that, but that was around the time the gen's vibe changed drastically, moreso than when Sana graduated.

That was known among fans (and all blame was placed on his ex for calling "i woke up to him fingering me" sexual abuse) before Aster or Luca ever came up.

>>504421Despite Holo pulling in more talented applicants as it grows, Myth remains the most objectively heavy hitting gen across its members. Calli, Ina, and Gura all had concrete skills and preexisting fanbases to a degree that made them obviously strong picks, while Kiara and Ame's PLs both turned out to have past entertainment industry experience,
Every subsequent EN gen has gambled more on personality and eventual growth carrying the talents. Which I sort of like, there are obvious limitations but many members have been able to accomplish things as streamers that they wouldn't have been able to without Holo's resources and platform. So the investment paid off.

>>504355i think it has to do with how it's mostly only holo or niji who are posted here, so any vtuber they dont know must be self posting, right? the only one i know who did was gumpai which was a while ago. as for recs, 未明幽戯 does horror streams and readings with a nice voice, つつうらちゆ doesnt do retro, but i like her zatsus and she's similar to what i said about 野中ソルト here
>>504292 緋月ゆい if you want a decent sized corpo vtuber. for EN, CalaMariVT also has a nice voice and does rigging and art streams, occasionally plays non-mainstream games. Rina Astera for the fujos and unhinged.

>>504438My exposure to Vtuber was Ironmouse or Calli. I know myth and that's about it. One reason others didn't reach their height is people getting back to their lives after the lockdown. Or branching out from corpo to indie chuubas. Asking someone to pick a wave is like asking am Android fan to pick an iPhone. The level of commitment required to remember all waves when I just watch a few of them casually is beyond my capacity.
If you're talking about peak as in subscriber numbers, then it happened after myth. But you should consider that vtubing and streaming in general peaked years ago and it'll be hard to find the same level of engagement unless there's another lockdown
No. 504616
>>504565I thought it was about peaking and assumed it was numbers. Sub count was easiest to check but I'm sure there's a ccv list out there somewhere
I haven't watched everyone enough to know about all of their skills and don't plan to since I'm not their HR or a commentary channel.
Idk if it's that holo declined, other options popped up or if the novelty simply wore off.
It could also be management, since many of the talents that supposedly started out with hard and soft skill sets are leaving now.
Just watch what you like, and if you don't like it eventually, watch something else. I see this board as a good source for recs. Otherwise just Google your own hobby and vtuber

>>504623Hololive pays for the events, 3ds, concerts, and their artists are famous people who are clearly expensive (eg Kroniis artist), they also have employees and they pay a salary for their talents too, so i am really not surprised…? The way holo talents get their own events is by asking cover to give them money, then they end up paying them back overtime (iirc according to Ina). I think its stupid to compare a large corporation over one indie.
No. 504764
>>504641>The way holo talents get their own events is by asking cover to give them money, then they end up paying them back overtime as the other anon said, they don't. you're misremembering it because that's what they do for song covers, but not events. funny you used a moona pic when she's the one who said she had to pay for her own 3D concert. this is backed up by other holos. and for non-mandated events, she and someone else have spoken of how she had to pay for her own ticket and hotel, on top of the already expensive 3D fees the talents are paying for out of pocket.
>salarytheir salary is equal to that of a part-time waitress's salary in japan, as per moona's words. nothing to be elitist over. you can be a holofan, but you don't have to be a bootlicker.
>I think its stupid to compare a large corporation over one indie.i think it's stupid you don't understand my point. im talking about how holo elitists will get amazed and say they've never seen so and so in a model before (over a starry eyes toggle lmfao) and how "it's the best model they've seen" (they've only seen holo models) when not only has it already been done, there's been more yet in the same breath they'll put down other corpos and indies with a blindfold over their eyes. is that clear now? popularity doesn't equate to skill so i dont see why you thought that was worth a mention. kroni's janky arm and body proportions, that rendering in that sweater outfit, rigging, and the rhombus faces that were prevalent for a bit have been made fun of before. smaller corpos and indies have gotten popular artists too so that's not exclusive to cover. popularity really doesnt equate to skill. doki's new fans who moved over from corpo were amazed at seeing plushie rigging for the first time… that's how sad the state of corpo rigging is. that's my point.

No. 505892
>>505887It really depends, I like when they're obviously shipping their characters and not themselves, like with Nerissa and Liz. Most cases I just enjoy them as good friends (OkaKoro, AutoFister, MiComet), trying to frame the actual streamers as being in a relationship feels weird.
Even if they are more or less confirmed to actually be dating, I think it's just better to keep it behind the scenes. I was a Crossick fan back in the day so I know how it can go.

victim, of Aster or his PL. It's unfortunate that she's taken so much of the fall.

No. 509292
>>509284It honestly makes me feel bad for her that the only people sticking with her are the people who enable her bad behavior. If she made some proper friends in Nijisanji they should be having a talk with her about getting her self worth from incels. I get why every normal person is angry at her for her loli pandering but she's very young, in her very early 20s at the oldest, so I feel like she has potential to be talked into looking at her behavior with a more sane mind. Before nonnies attack me I hate pedo panderers as much as every other
nonnie itt but it's sad to see an awful feedback loop that will obviously make her more menhera and depend on pedos instead of taking the chance to review her life and make better choices. She's just too young to not get stretched too thin under the pressure of being the public enemy no1 for everyone in the vtubing community except for pedos.

No. 509732
>>509702Back when I was an active fan of NijiEN, Aster was the worst performing male vtuber in all of EN I’m pretty sure. He was an awful streamer and constantly raged during video games and always made the vibes of streams so incredibly awkward. He never ever improved in anything he did at all and responded badly to any criticism he would receive.
At some point when Kyo was still there, Kyo attempted to make an ongoing podcast featuring him, Aster, and Ren but of course that idea died because Aster was such a personality-less hunk of nothing that made watching those streams unbearable. There’s also the fact that Kyo caught onto Aster’s behavior and made it a point to distance himself from him.
TLDR he was a snooze fest, talentless, awkward fucking streamer who didn’t really have anything going for him at all. Why the company didn’t just take the opportunity to immediately boot that fucker out I don’t know. Why parts of the fanbase are now defending him like crazy when there’s never been any love for him before this is also something that’s baffling. I hate this talentless hack.
