>"White is more of an American, or in general, a New World concept than it is a European one”.
>”Johann Friedrich Blumenbach (11 May 1752 – 22 January 1840) was a German physician, naturalist, physiologist and anthropologist. He is considered to be a main founder of zoology and anthropology as comparative, scientific disciplines. He has been called the ‘founder of racial classifications’.”
>”Blumenbach's classification of the single human species into five varieties (later called "races") (1793/1795):
>the Caucasian or white race. Blumenbach was the first to use this term for Europeans, and he also included North Africans, Middle Easterners and South Asians in the same category.[17]
>the Mongolian or yellow race, including all East Asians.
>the Malayan or brown race, including Southeast Asians and Indigenous peoples of Oceania.
>the Ethiopian or black race, including all sub-Saharan Africans.
>the American or red race, including all Native Americans.
How is “white” so much more of an American concept if Europeans were the first to start classifying race?
>If you wanted to apply this question to the American sensibility, for example, then ask: Are people from Jersey City considered New Yorkers?
You space your points like a redditor. Also, you’re comparing two people of the same nationality to two people from different countries and continents when the question was about race.
>>>/ot/2585659
>Euros have always been more focused on nationality than race, in my experience
>in my experience
>indingenous people of the Americas had been targeted and raped so hard that we have modern day mestizos; which are basically a racial admixture historically born from Spanish men forcibly impregnating native women
>French men had punished black slaves so severely in places such as Jamaica that one form of punishment involved forcing slaves to defecate in each other’s mouths
>Modern day: Europeans make monkey noises and throw bananas at black soccer players in racist gesture
>African player in Portugal had to leave game because of racist harassment
>”Racism towards Black people is growing in Europe, with Germany, Austria and Finland showing the highest rates of discrimination and harassment, a survey of first- and second-generation Black immigrants in 13 EU countries published on Wednesday found. The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), which commissioned the survey and analyzed its findings in a report, said that in the space of six years since the previous study the proportion of respondents who had felt racially discriminated against in the past 12 months had risen by 10 percentage points to 34%. In Austria and Germany the proportion was 64% - almost twice the previous level of 33% in Germany and a significant increase from the 42% recorded in Austria six years earlier. The next worst was Finland with 54%. "It is shocking to see no improvement since our last survey," FRA Director Michael O'Flaherty said. "Instead, people of African descent face ever more discrimination just because of the colour of their skin." The proportion of respondents who reported feeling racially discriminated against over the past five years rather than 12 months rose to 45% across the 13 countries surveyed, an increase of six points from the previous study. The top three were the same, with Germany's rate the highest at 76%.”
Saying that Europeans care less about race is not true. Not after a point in the past, not today. Europeans aren’t different from Americans when it comes to racism, and that’s at BEST.
>>>/ot/2585660
>This particular neurosis regarding 'race' that blights the New World societies is a result of colonialism, specifically the institution of caste and the institution of slavery.
You mean the social system that Europeans invented and continue to engage in the first place? Why are you blaming Americans for what Europeans introduced to this world? Also, you keep bringing up nationality as if European xenophobia cancels out racism. That’s not how that works.
>>>/ot/2585672
>”She still doesn't get it, Americans are wild”
>fail to address how Europeans view the classification of what is considered “white” and how Turks may or may not fall into the social category
>”omg Americans are wild!”
Is this why more international students flock to the USA than any European country or country in general? I don’t blame them if this is average Europoor intellect despite stats.
>>>/ot/2585682
>You're asking about apples vs oranges when the conversation is about airplanes. The concept of "white" as you understand it isn't how it works over there.
Your analogy falls apart when you are aware of the fact that it was Europeans themselves who invented and continue to use this label.
>over there

>Just play a song you like and dance for a while and enjoy your life and forget these things that you can't comprehend.
>never addresses race classification being a European toy that they used to justify numerous atrocities across the globe
>doesn’t read the news and look at modern day European acknowledgement of race
>dodge the question to define what “white” means according to Europeans
>”you’re too stupid to comprehend it!”

>Please read books more.
You mean like books on Europoor history? Okay, here’s a synopsis.
>Europe-
>No history whatsoever
> Romans discovers them living in shit covered holes in the ground
>Romans attempt to civilize them, but fail
>Destroy Roman Empire and doesn't know what to do with Greco-Roman knowledge.
>Return to barbarism
>Cope by calling "Dark Ages"
>Get invaded by Moors
>Moors reintroduce classical Greco-Roman knowledge
>Cope by calling "Renaissance"
>Sail around the globe with Moorish maps & navigation technology to plunder just like Barbarian ancestors.
>Cope by calling it "Age of discovery"
>Spend the next 400 years looting the world.
>Can't agree on how to divide stolen loot.
>Engage in large-scale tribal war & destroy own nations
>Cope by calling it "world war"
>Blame Jews for destruction
>Launch another large-scale tribal war because why not
>Attempt to co-opt Greco-Roman history
> Cope by inventing imaginary progenitor Aryan race
> Attempt to pass off marauding hordes of  raiders as glorious Viking civilization for further cope.
>Deflect attention from Europe's lack of any prehistory by belittling African history.
>Largest pre Roman construction in all of Europe is a pile of rocks called “The Stonehenge”
Interesting books indeed when history is just full of you being embarrassing whores. Even Hitler thought European history was a nothingburger:
>”Why do we call the whole world’s attention to the fact that we have no past? It’s bad enough that the Romans were erecting great buildings when our forefathers were still living in mud huts and enthusing over every potsherd and stone axe he finds…..We really should do our best to keep quiet about this past. Instead Himmler makes a great fuss about it all. The present-day Romans must be having a laugh at these revelations.”
Sad whores.

>WW2 was more about nationality and religion. Americans haven't been toe-to-toe in conflicts like Europeans have, so it's easier for you to see this as one race versus another.
Again, you are bringing up nationality and religion to derail what the original question was about. Also, you are downplaying the significant regard of race that Nazis and Europeans in general gave about race.
>”The Nazi's cornerstone precept of "racial hygiene" gave birth to their policy of "racial cleansing" that led to the murders of millions. It was developed by German physicians and scientists in the late 19th century and is rooted in the period's Social Darwinism that placed blacks at the bottom of the racial ladder. This program was first manifested in the near-extermination of the African Herero people during the German colonial period. After WWI, the fear among the German populace that occupying African troops and their Afro-German children would lead to "bastardization" of the German people formed a unifying racial principle that the Nazis exploited. They extended this mind-set to a variety of "unworthy" groups, leading to the physician-administered racial Nuremberg laws, the Sterilization laws, the secret sterilization of Afro-Germans, and the German euthanasia program. This culminated in the extermination camps.”
Jews were not the only victims of WWII. Europeans were not done terrorizing those outside of the white race just because they were also occupied with jews. Read more.
>>>/ot/2585708
>stantwitter meme because of one’s own failure to properly answer a question

It’s either you’re not European yourself, or you just don’t know enough of what you’re talking about. There’s no reason for why the question is this hard, unless you’re one of those two things.

The problem is that you simply don’t know enough of what you’re talking about even though you so, so desperately want to be a historian.
>”Good luck navigating life with your reading comprehension skills”
>spent several posts bringing up irrelevant points to not answer what was simply: “Do Europeans think of Turks as white?”
“Ugh, you have no reading comprehension!”
This is like a teacher being asked by a student “what’s 2+2”, talking in redundant circles about apples, oranges and the space-time continuum and calling the student dumb for “just not getting it”.
>I hope you enjoy your senior year of high school next year.
I graduated high school a year early. Also,
>the average four-year high school graduation rate in the United States was approximately 87.4%. In the EU, the average share of people aged 20-24 with at least an upper secondary education (similar to high school) was 84.3% in 2024.
Have YOU graduated? Oh wait, you’re most definitely not even European. My bad.
>>>/ot/2585729
You're not gonna get it until you let go of the word "white". It just doesn't apply. There is not a "white equivalent" in Europe. It is just us vs them.
This is just false. Not even arguably false. With everything I have provided, you are objectively just incorrect.
>>>/ot/2585735
>I should have clarified I don't think they see race in regards to other Caucasian, light-skinned people. Obviously people with darker skin or distinctly different facial features always face additional levels of prejudice based on that alone. It still falls into the category of us vs them
Racism is a form of prejudice that implies the ability to see race if there’s even a possibility to create a bias based on it. Yes, there is “us vs. them” in Europe. Not just in nationality, but also in race. You basically just admitted that there’s racism in Europe, meaning that European perspective on race isn’t that different from racism literally anywhere else. This means that Europeans do see race, so the question was how do they view Turks in terms of race?
>”I don't think they”
So you’re not European. Why were you ever speaking? Why didn’t you properly read that my question wasn’t meant for someone like you to answer in the first place? I thought you had superior reading comprehension. I guess my American nationality put a dent in it.
>>>/ot/2585765
>Another American moment. Biracial people aren't half, they're double.
I’m not taking biology lessons from someone who descended from a group of borderline neanderthals who needed Romans to make them stop fucking their own fathers, brothers, uncles, cousins and random animals in swamps. Or from a demographic of women who had to be told to stop prostituting themselves to sell their own babies into slavery for being part black.
>”…for as much a[s] diverse Freeborne English or Whitewoman sometimes by the instigation Procurement of Convievance of theire Masters Mistres or dames, and always to the Satisfaction of theire Lascivious and Lusftfull desires, and to the disgrace not only of the English butt also of mant other Christian Nations, do Intermarry with Negroes and Slaves…”
>>>/ot/2585921
>Idk about anyone else but I’m not denying that Europe is racist as shit it’s just its own unique history of racism that can’t be understood through an American lens of “whiteness.”
Because Europeans definitely never had or at least transported slaves based on a sense of racial superiority into the 17th century just like Americans did. Nah. Let’s just lie about history to make Europe look so different from America.
>>>/ot/2585948
>this is a question that can be answered with a yes or no you ameritard.
>There is the group with heavily slavic genetics, the one with middle eastern genetics and the one who still has mongolian genetics although the last one is rare. So no, it depends on the person, their whole ethnicity as a nation can't be classified as one ethnicity due to the diversity in it. Some are very white nordic looking, some look arab, and  some look like a mix of those two.
>”It CanT bE AnsWerED WitH a YeS or nO yoU AmEritArd!
>Proceeds to answer the question with a very simple answer.
So basically, the answer is that yes, Turkish people can be white and will be seen as white depending on the individual’s race. You answered the question, but you honestly don’t strike me as that intelligent.
>>>/ot/2585967
>here's how europe divides it's whiteness. ultra white: pig snout nose, Whoville lips, natural platinum blonde, icy blue eyes, flat. white: dark blonde hair, blue/hazel eyes, button nose but not as snouty. ambigious/exotic: luigi mangioni, olive skin tone, wavy or curly hair, dark brunette, dark eyes, aquiline nose, prominent eyes. Not-white: anything that's not the first two and sometimes the third one. Also it depends on which part of europe you are because in some parts the luigi mangioni phenotype is considered white but in other parts he is not.
You do all that when you don’t even have the largest genetic diversity. You guys don’t even come in second place.
>”You are giving such a 4chan /pol/ stench, also look at a american calling someone a mutt”
>has a problem with politically incorrect statements about racial admixture
>proceeds to be politically incorrect on the assumption that an American can’t be one race with one ethnicity

>”I told you you’re arabs”

Just put everything into low cost index funds. Ignore line going up or down, only sell if you actually need the money, so long as the economy grows in the long run you will inevitably get a return it's only a question of when and how much. Make sure it has a low expense ratio (somewhere around 0.1% or less) so the cost of managing the fund doesn't eat too much into your profits

There are various ones you can choose, some of the most popular are VOO, SPY, VTI, IVV, etc you can find one yourself easily if you look around

Put some money in foreign index funds too to protect yourself in case the American economy ever goes to shit. For the past decade or so American stocks have produced excellent gains but there is no guarantee that will last forever, American stocks have had extended periods of producing no profit either (dot-com bubble, 2008 recession) and past performance is not a good indicator of future success. Some common foreign index funds include VXUS, SWISX, VTIAX, etc

Another common strategy is to just put money into VT (world index fund) and then buy other indices from there

Decide for yourself based on your age how you want to distribute it. Some go 70 American 30 Foreign, 80 American 20 Foreign, etc. Putting everything in American or foreign will be riskier

Put some money in bonds too. As you grow older, you are going to want more stable income, since index funds are still volatile. Common truism is to subtract your age from 100 to 110 to determine the percentage of your portfolio that should be in stocks. So if you are 30, having 70-80% of your portfolio be stocks, the rest in bonds is a decent number. It doesn't HAVE to be that way that's just common advice. If you are younger, you can afford to take more risks since even if your stocks don't work out you can always work more to recoup your losses.

Have some savings in a bank account, enough to last you at least 6 months so in case you lose your job and the stock market goes to shit you won't be forced to sell your stocks at a loss to survive

You don't have to pay tax whenever you buy stocks, but you do have to pay tax whenever you sell. If you held those stocks for under a year whatever profits you gain will be taxed as regular income. If you held for over a year you have to pay a capital gains tax, which will usually be smaller. Consider the taxes you will have to pay if you are going to sell stocks as you don't want the IRS chasing after you (this is one reason why constantly buying and selling is a limited strategy, you have to keep paying taxes)

Over time you may genuinely be more interested in being an active trader (i.e. buying individual stock). Start off small, do research, put money in companies you think will genuinely make profit in the future, only put in money you are willing to lose because buying individual stock is riskier than indices. If you want to trade things like options and futures just be very careful and really make sure you do your research because many people have been financially ruined doing that

Crypto is kind of a meme, it's filled with scammers, isn't regulated, and is even riskier than individual stocks. Like above, if you are going to get into it only put in money you are willing to lose, ignore any "influencer" endorsements because they are all scams, be wary of rugpulls (they happen literally all the time).

If you have an IRA (like a Roth IRA) don't forget to buy stocks with it too

Do this as consistently as you can, time in the market is more important than timing the market. There are various other investments you can make but this is a good foundation for 99% of Americans

NTA anon's recommendations are very good and a solid strategy for retiring. Index funds are extremely low risk and safe, nowhere near 'gambling' since they essentially follow the market which has a historical return of like 6-7%. You are thinking of picking stocks, which she does mention and specifically says to be very careful because it can ruin your finances.

It's not an ideal strategy if you need money soon, it's a long term 'set and forget' thing, so I agree it's not ideal for people with no disposable income at all. But if you care about your finances at all you'd be better off looking into what she suggests rather than having a knee jerk reaction to the stockmarket as if it's only for wallstreet moids or something. It's actually very accessible and useful for normal, risk averse people.

If she kept 10k in a savings account and invested the 60k into a simple lazy portfolio, she'd be at 120k in no time. It's so tiring hearing ignorant people complaining about never being able to afford to buy a house or retire, but then simultaneously ignoring and deriding all advice offered to them.

Responses like >>2591690 are so derivative. She could have thanked the anon that offered the advice but instead she has to go on the defensive and talk down to the person that knows more than her. A lot of poor people stay poor because they hate admitting that they don't know crap or that they're harming their future with their inaction.

If a significant chunk of the population can't handle a $500 emergency, and many are already in debt to the government for the sin of trying to get a degree, then yeah, this is trash advice to anyone who isn't already affluent enough to be barely affected by the historical horrible bill being made a law today. I would love it if women with means who didn't delude themselves into thinking they're poor making $75k or some shit made their own thread about investing because actual poorfags who are about to get any kind of social safety net they had scraped away don't really care to hear you cry about muh retirement when you are literally fine right now while people are struggling to survive. Saving for a bleak ass future in this current timeline. The idea that anyone thinks USD is going to hold it's value for more than the next 10-20 years or so is not paying attention and is putting way too much faith in the American economy like our stock market hasn't broken multiple times. Rich people fucking suck and want to call anyone who doesn't want to go along with their moronic plans and gleefully put their net worth in a wood chipper stupid.

Go to your bank and ask to have a meeting set up with a financial advisor. No. 2591972

>>2591926
If it was true, it would only be true for hard labor jobs. Gig economy work was always going to become more and more burdensome because, 1.) the "good pay" was supplemented by investor money to make the idea of being a gig worker appealing. Now workers are in the pipeline, consumers are used to it and investors want returns. 2.) something so easy to get in on was always going to become oversaturated and shitty over time. In a larger scope, we have little to no protections for contract workers, which is what allows gig workers to be exploited and blame each other and we haven't had a federal raise in minimum wage and Americans don't have the community or political will to organize and strike until wages improve. Having less, let alone zero immigrants wouldn't really change much, besides requiring a different scapegoat.

I'm a pretty cynical American right now to say the least, but I had a good 4th of july. Maybe it's because I'm getting older. But it didn't feel weird. My brother is seeing a woman with kids, and we had the kid come over. I played barbies with her, we watched the fireworks and held sparklers, sat around in the backyard and I talked to my parents. The little girl called my dad by his first name and I saw a flash of a smile on him when he was walking away. My parents were a bit sus about the whole situation because it's not my brother's biological children, but it's clear they are big softies underneath the facade and they're so pleased with this little kid that they can be grandparents to. The child accidentally broke a mechanism on the door and my dad was like "yep, she broke it. That's alright, I was going to replace it soon anyway". It made me laugh inside, knowing that if I did that as a kid, he would have huffed and puffed and gotten so goddamn angry. But he's an old man now and he's tickled by it.
I'm happy my parents can enjoy it because they're not getting any grandkids from me any time soon lol

The only way what is going on makes sense is if you also understand the philosophy underpinning the ones pulling the strings, like folks at The Heritage Foundation and private donors like Elon Musk and Peter Thiel. They are pretty disdainful of democracy and mostly believe that democracy and liberal ideas like egalitarianism and feminism have completely failed and we should return to "the right people" (monarchs and lords) rather than subject people to voting and having a civic duty. If every day people don't matter, then there is no point in caring for them or educating them (so no funding for those programs). What is most important to them is cementing a "priest class", aka make US a christian nation, to give moral and spiritual reasons and a strong military/police, basically the new "knight" class. Peter Thiel's pet philosopher is Curtis Yarvin who promotes this very idea of technofeudalism. Trump himself is the window dressing that obscures it all because at the end of the day he is a showman and surrounds himself with a lot of other show biz folks (literally and figuratively).

Market manipulation and insider trading. He's cutting funding for social programs so he can re-funnel the monies into others to grift the public and blame it on Democrats later (i.e. the cuts to healthcare do not go into effect until 2027 when people have long forgotten that Trump's party was behind it; demands to Dems later to fix what they broke). It's the same reason why he keeps threatening tariffs but then postpones them. All of his buddies know what his threats and plans will be for the week so they dump and buy in the market accordingly. Politicians are doing whatever the fuck they want right now. Look up Republicans selling off their shares and trading after Trump makes those tariff announcements.
>"But nonna, programs like Medicaid are not private businesses that have stock to trade, how can this be?"
Because they are shorting stocks of businesses adjacent to medicaid programs i.e. pharmaceuticals.
Remember The Wall that never got built during his last term in spite of all the funding we read that was funneled to it? Where did that money go???

The harsh truth is that most Americans don’t really care about issues like insider trading or lobbying, mainly because they don’t understand them. Politicians have effectively turned the culture war into the only thing that gets people’s attention. Just think about which headline gets more clicks: “Senator Makes $10M from shorting Tesla with suspiciously good timing” or “Trump Sneezes and Calls Mexicans Bad and Gay??”

I read somewhere that the stimulant shortage is being caused by patients with long covid getting prescribed stimulants for their fatigue. Idk if that's true but I am choosing to believe that explanation

No. 2594649

>>2594572
That’s not true. Maybe some people are getting them prescribed for that reason but the stimulant shortage is entirely artificial because the DEA, which regulates the amount of these drugs that can be produced, has not changed the limit from pre-Covid levels drastically.
There was an increase in prescriptions due to many people getting diagnosed ADHD when forced to work home due to the pandemic. This was complicated by doctors who only saw patients online being allowed to prescribe these drugs as well through zoom only appointments. This was not allowed prior to the pandemic either, but made it easier for people to acquire a prescription than previously. The DEA refused to increase the amount of the drugs being produced as they are skeptical of the amount of people who really need these drugs post pandemic. Additionally, there are other factors like generics and name brand not performing to the same level or manner, and loosening of regulations around that. It’s a mess but I doubt people are being prescribed stimulants en masse because they struggle with fatigue being the main cause.

That’s not true, and why is it something you’re choosing to believe like it’s a nice thing to believe? Are you one of those conspiracy theorists that don’t believe long covid is an actual condition? Just FYI, it is very real, the only issue is that they need to stop calling it long covid. It’s ME/CFS caused by COVID infection (whereas the majority of ME/CFS cases stem from severe EBV infection aka mononucleosis/mono). The only reason it hasn’t fully shifted to being called that is because both doctors and “long covid” patients (aka people with ME/CFS) are often disdainful towards the ME/CFS label and like to think they’re more legitimate and are totes special unlike us ME/CFS patients who they often think are fakers. The only time I get upset with people with COVID caused ME is when they refuse to call to ME and insist it’s totally different and then whine that they aren’t getting enough research or funding. When there’s never been more ME research as there is now that we have so many cases of ME caused by Covid. Kind of pisses me off that many researchers are acting like retards and treating LC as some special condition when it’s clearly a manifestation of ME/CFS, the discrimination runs so fucking deep.

Anyway! Stimulants aren’t recommended for ME/CFS and doctors are loathe to prescribe any controls for off label uses. The only “long covid” ME patients getting stim scripts almost certainly have comorbid ADHD, and even then, they’re not likely to be getting vyvanse/addy because those are particularly bad for ME/CFS. They’d be getting modafanil or armodafani, and you’d be hard pressed to find me a place with a shortage of those.

The reason stimulant shortages are happening is because of the surge in ADHD diagnoses over the pandemic and the apps that would basically hand you an adderall script like candy. They cracked down on that but there are still a lot of folks with dubious adhd diagnoses and scripts for stims they may or may not actually need. Supply chain problems were already happening and it has been a cascading problem that is still plaguing certain areas today.

Jobs used to offer jobs trainings, which they stopped doing because everyone goes to college now so essentially they outsource the training to you and make you pay for it yourself. It used to be much cheaper to go as well because college charged what people could afford.
I don't know if we can go back, but the current situation where everyone who wants to have a decent life is forced at age 18 to take out 50-100k in loans to learn stuff you could learn for free on the internet, is really stupid and unsustainable.

as much as a lot of people in my area believe that kamala lost because of her tranny pandering or whatever, i think maybe its time that people realize that one of the biggest reasons why she lost to trump is because she was wanting to push forward with the idea of giving first time homeowners money to get that first house. and as a millennial, that felt exciting when i heard about it. but for the baby boomers and the older gen x crowds, that probably placed the last nail on her coffin because they would rather all kill themselves than see the younger generations finally have a way to move forward in terms of having buying power in the housing market. yes there are always boomers who keep harping on about how lazy, selfish and entitled millennials and gen z are, but they would rather complain rather than see us finally have our foot in the door and make something of ourselves the same way they have when they were our ages decades ago. they don't WANT us to become homeowners in a nice house. they don't WANT us to be rid of our debts. they don't WANT us to succeed. this isn't all boomers of course, but it's enough that its hard to ignore it atp.

>Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani suggested in a resurfaced podcast appearance that the NYPD shouldn’t be responsible for responding to domestic violence calls.
>The 33-year-old democratic socialist said that the NYPD shouldn’t respond to domestic violence calls due to fears of “escalation” by New York’s Finest in a 2020 interview on the Immigrantly podcast, as first reported by the Washington Free Beacon.
>“If somebody is surviving, going through domestic violence – there are so many different, different situations that would far better be handled by people trained to deal with those specific situations as opposed to an individual with a gun who has received quite a limited amount of training in general, but also in regards to these specific situations,” the Queens pol said.
>Mamdani also noted that the NYPD shouldn’t similarly respond to situations involving homeless people on the train or jaywalking due to fears of “escalation” that could have fatal results.
>The candidate ran successfully for state Assembly in 2020, years before his Democratic Party primary victory in the crowded mayoral race last month.

>New FDA Rule Requires Screening of All Imported Food, Drugs, and Health Products—No Exceptions for Low-Value Shipments

Washington, D.C., July 10, 2025 — In a major change affecting online shoppers and small importers, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that all imported food, drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics—even inexpensive shipments under $800—must now undergo FDA review. This overturns previous policies that allowed many low-value imports to skip FDA inspection. The announcement, made through U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS #65581188), applies to all Section 321 “de minimis” shipments—the legal term for packages valued at $800 or less that normally enter the U.S. duty-free and with minimal paperwork.

>What’s Changing?

Until now, small shipments of FDA-regulated products, such as vitamins, skincare products, and some packaged foods, could enter the U.S. without an FDA check as long as they met the low-value threshold. This policy was outlined in earlier Customs messages dating back to the 1990s. Effective immediately: Every shipment containing FDA-regulated goods, no matter how small, must be electronically submitted to the FDA for review. This applies to goods shipped through e-commerce websites, direct-from-manufacturer orders, and cross-border couriers.

>Why the Change?

>The FDA says the decision reflects improved technology that allows the agency to screen large numbers of shipments electronically. Officials say they want to stop unsafe or mislabeled products from reaching American consumers, even in small packages. “Regardless of value or quantity, FDA-regulated products can pose health, safety, or security risks,” the agency said in its announcement. The agency also reminded importers that food and animal feed shipments still require Prior Notice filings, a separate safety measure meant to prevent contaminated food from entering the U.S.

>Who’s Affected?

>This new requirement will impact:

>Small importers and individuals who buy vitamins, skincare, supplements, medical devices, or packaged food from overseas sellers. E-commerce platforms and drop shippers, especially those in China, Korea, and Europe. International retailers shipping directly to U.S. customers. Even a $10 bottle of vitamins or a $20 facial cream will now need FDA clearance before it clears customs.

>How Will This Work?

>The FDA says it now has the technology to review all de minimis shipments electronically. Customs and FDA systems are connected through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). Entry Type 86 filings—designed for low-value shipments—must now include FDA data when applicable. If a product fails FDA review, it can be detained, refused entry, or destroyed.

>Industry Reaction

>Trade professionals warn the change could slow down cross-border e-commerce shipments, increase costs for importers, and lead to more product detentions at ports and postal facilities. “This will create headaches for small businesses and individuals who buy health-related products online,” said one customs broker. “Many people are used to ordering supplements or skincare from overseas without any hassle. Now they could face delays.”

>What Importers Should Do

>The FDA is urging importers, manufacturers, shippers, and online retailers to: Review the new requirements. Submit product information electronically before goods arrive. Ensure compliance with Prior Notice and other FDA rules.

However, as much as i'd like other countries to be able to step up and support Ukraine, the US has the most money and military power that European countries can't sufficiently match, but maybe that's changing. We're also Russia's bitch (in a kind of underhanded way, and Trump is unpredictable and not completely under their thumb, so in ways it backfires a lot). It's not just "oh noes we gotta help Ukraine against evil Putin!" but him getting ahold of that territory has some dire implications for surrounding Euro/Nordic countries whom have a history with Russian military invasion. When Russia invaded Ukraine, do you know what all major financers around the world did? They bought grain futures and oil based stocks like drilling, refining or even fertilizer. Why? Because Ukraine is a breadbasket country (especially the east) and Russia's oil and grain was about to get sanctioned. Literally free money if you know about it early enough. The same type of thing happened in Iraq.
Its not like these are goods people can live without either. With incredibly predictable pricing.

Saw some news broadcast where they said that there are people within the democratic party that are saying they should never run another woman again after kamala since america "doesnt want a female" president. My own dad actually said that too. They didnt fail because she woman, they failed because the democrats ran a horrendous campaign. They swung way too far and started pushing shit no one wants, no want wants infinite immigration, or funding transitioning soldiers, those are so fringe, people mostly wanted a better economy and they REFUSED to address it. And two, Kamala and walz were awful candidates, Kamala couldnt interview for her fucking life and never gave hard answers, walz was just plain unlikable and kept dropping weird flubs like saying he was friends with school shooters. The campaign was totally out of touch with what the average person wants, and it was so obvious the campaign was run by college grads who though brat and coconut memes would connect with voters rather than publisizing actual stances, but no its all because Kamala was a woman. Drives me up the wall. Democrat party cant take accountability for shit and they'll learn nothing.

but also it seems like the right had picked it up to prey on the poor and middle class, and then as it turns out the party that union busts, never shuts about about bootstraps, and think everyone can walk into anywhere and get a job while cutting jobs and labor rights doesn't give a single shit about unemployment rates, housing rates, affordability, etc as long as if they can threaten enough people to fudge the statistics

Some of us actually want to discuss how to improve the party and move forward. Trump voters are not the democrats target audience, what they think doesn't matter. I don't know if they can even make a comeback at this point in time for 2028, all indications right now show that they are pretty lost and don't really get it, and worse, they don't WANT to understand, so they're coming up with excuses like it's because they picked women.

No. 2612726

>>2612709
He has a massive following but yeah if you wanna bring him up I think the reason why he has a massive following is because he definitely manages to touch certain demographics in a way the democrats havent been able to for years. I dont know who theyre consulting for their campaigns but they need to fucking fire that person. You'll have deep right people, and deep left people, but a lot of people are going to pick candidates that they feel "represent them" and a lot of the issues democrats have been putting forward recently havent reflected that. It used to be that democrats ran on "the little guy" and "protecting workers" and thats very convincing stuff, but recently the little guy is "trans and minorities" which is a niche subsect while the right has swooped in on "they help the trans, i help the average guy".
You see this in EVERY campaign like when Hillary ran on "I'm with her" and then Trump responded by running "I'm with YOU". Rather than taking the politician's side, the politician is taking your side. Then he did the SAME THING this campaign with the "kamala for they/them, trump for you" and that WORKS because most people want to feel like the politician is an extension of them. Anyway im just saying the reason the democratic campaign has been increasingly out of touch seems so obvious to me I dont know why the fuck they keep doing it. Yes you can say but trump is this and that but its politics and the main determining factor is going to be how they make people feel.

>We've gotten to a point where the democrat party can be 100% perfect and people will choose trump anyway
When have they ever been anywhere close to perfect? How do you know people wouldn't vote for them if they were when they have been no where near that?
This pretty much encapsulates the democrats current line of thinking. "We were 100% perfect. The voters are just stupid." And that's why they keep losing.

Whether their claims were real or not is the problem. A lot of businesses knew they could get away with hiring illegal. isnt it republicans that want 9 yr olds in factories for below min wage? or having disabled people working for less? or having some teen who was arrested for weed work for 40 cents an hour? or buys their stupid red hats and merch from sweatshops and then goes onto treat service staff like slaves because "they chose to work there, they can just work somewhere else", where is this attitude when democrats acknowledge the fact immigrants were dominating the ag industry? I thought there's just an infinite amount of good paying jobs everyone can just get easily? what changed?

democrats simply pointing out immigrants are the vast majority of farm workers doesn't mean they support slave labor. Democrats were actually the ones advocating for better wages, unions, better benefits and safer conditions while the republician farm owners voted against it so they can continue abusing their immigrant employees, its very bizarre to me that the right took "ebul democrats are enslaving the poor immigrants we want to throw into concentration camps!!" out of "majority of ag workers are immigrants"

I'm not really sure what the argument is here, nobody should be hiring illegal slave labor or 9 years old or exploiting anyone. Sure, democrats are more outwardly pro-worker, but they allowed illegal labor at low wages to go on for far too long, including underage labor. Both parties have many rich people in them with their own motives. For example, a lot of large companies are fine with more government restrictions because smaller competitors can't handle them and will fold, resulting in more monopolies. Unions are also not necessarily a positive anymore, it's no longer the age of Upton Sinclair, just look at the police unions for an example. Business owners that are right leaning are still obsessed with cheap h1b labor and long working hours, this shouldn't be allowed either. I'm tired of everything being muh team red muh team blue and endless arguments about who is better when they both have a lot of shitty, stupid policies that benefit only rich people.

it doesn't go down as easy as "don't hire illegals", a lot of the times things like asylum can be removed, visas expire, etc Majority of illegal immigrants were likely legal at the time of hire, but visas simply expired. Starving someones children over paperwork isn't ethical.

I don't know what you're talking about dems allowing low wages and such to go on for too long. blue states have the highest wages, so much that republicans who vote against it seek blue cities or states to make higher wages. Republicans just choose to vote against themselves and blame dems for it

Unions and non union jobs have their ups and downs, but union jobs are def better especially since you have republicans ready to throw families in the streets over handshakes and eye contact

the "they're both bad" approach is unrealistic and not the way to go. especially when one party has been advocating for workers but Americans are convinced being literal slaves themselves and working 90 hour weeks to live in a shitty trailer is great and better for society

The west coast is much spottier and the quality has declined since 2020, I don't feel safe taking anything outside of amtrak. I don't take public busses or trains in the cities anymore. it's not so much of a 100% dem or a 100% con thing. Democrat policies help the economy perform better, create jobs and stability which lead to increased profits due to more consumerism. someone who owns a grocery shop may vote in favor of increasing EBT because it will increase their profits, a business owner who wants to hire teenagers and make them work long hours may vote conservative due to lack of regulations. There was actually a huge issue in the south for this reason that a lot of crappy business owners would move to the south due to lack of regulations + "the employer is never at fault" mindset, even though their profits drop

that being said - look at how the conservatives in the office are handling government spending. nothing was cut besides programs that benefited the poor and helped the eco system, and increased spending for the military, ICE (even though democrat presidents had much larger deportations without increasing government spending), increased spending to Israel, high tariffs and no ones income tax was lowered.

I guess this applies if you go for the real definition of conservative vs democrat, but that is nowhere close to what the conservatives in office are like

Everyone's lips were cracked and bleeding. The bathroom was covered in shit and black mold. The floor next to my bed had shit smeared on it. The A/C filter was covered in two inches thick of filth on top and bowed down in the middle (for anyone who doesn't know you change those once a month, this hadn't been changed in years). They punished me and kept me extra days because I was upset when they threw my clothes away thinking it belonged to another patient. They wouldn't let me make calls or pay my rent. When I was released I had to call the police because the hospital robbed me. They mistreated everyone. One guy they gave the wrong meds to and he was falling down almost smashing his head on cement and the patients were alarmed and asking for help and the nurses glared and kept scrolling their phones. I hate anyone in this thread who thinks human beings should be locked up in these fucking hell holes. They'll get more help? THEY WON'T. Sometimes you get lucky and the ward has nice staff but even then the whole system is broken, the nicest staff members still can barely help you even if they clearly want to, it’s mostly just making you sit around mindlessly all day long with like maybe 90 minutes of “therapy” a day. therapy meaning you get access to some crayons for 30 minutes, access to the outside for 30 minutes (if you’re lucky and the unit has an outdoor area), and 30 minutes listening to music and doing some weird unhelpful group activity. and sometimes there’s legitimately abusive situations. Get help, okay, where? Oh YOU had a good time inpatient? I can only imagine inpatient seeming like an okay time if you’re homeless.

Jail is worse than the inpatient psych ward stays I’ve been experienced, you’re basically starved in jail. But the fact that a psych ward is only somewhat better than jail says a fuck of a lot.

Holy fuck, same thing here, for PMDD. My mother and I clocked what was happening to me when i’d get suicidal (I also have CPTSD but that was navigable off my period) due to my period, then be calm and normal after it passed. It took me two failed suicide attempts, being pumped on random pills, and bills I’m paying off to THIS DAY from years ago for them to realize what it was. The only ones who were ever kind were the paramedics and occasional white old lady staff member or some black guy who cracked jokes with us. I remember once after my first suicide attempt I was nervous and said it was an accident, then I heard some fat male cop talking to the nurse and calling me a filthy liar, saying I’m going to get locked up into inpatient and laughing at me. I was 13.

Also surprised nobody mentioned the other patients they make you stay with. I had to be around patients with dementia and schizophrenia. One time a woman stood over my bed while I was sleeping and the staff made me take a sleeping pill instead of moving my room. She’d constantly talk about having the mafia and bugs in her brain while another woman was rapping 6 hours a night nonstop as her roommate was mimicking that she was on a phone call with her grandson and believing it.

We had spoken often, and he was one of my only friends there. I think he had to be an older guy, full grey hair, extremely bitter. They further shoved him into debt. He had no method of paying them off. In the end, he told me the second he got out he would do it again.
I believe these facilities are made to put the general public at rest, rather than to help those put inside. Unless you meet a friend or kind worker inside the facility, it is a painful stay, and dangerous to boot. Putting a patient inside a facility does not protect those within it from their violent habits. I'd witnessed at least 3 very bloody fights in the second in-patient facility. They were understaffed and one staff member got a concussion. It's truly terrifying.

To be fair, I don't think most mentally ill people are constantly doing dangerous things (unless they're severely autistic or schizophrenic or something). A lot of them can act "normal" or even just calm, or they only pose a danger to themselves. It makes sense for there to be a mixed bag of conditions in the psych ward.

>In the ramblings, which was several pages long, Tamura blamed football for his apparent struggle with the neurodegenerative disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and pleaded for his brain to be studied in the wake of the massacre, law enforcement sources said.
>He wrote addressing Terry Long, the former Pittsburgh Steelers player who was diagnosed with CTE after downing antifreeze to kill himself 20 years ago.

Do any other nonnies know about the Mormon dominated door to door sales industry? A pushy salesman came to my home and tried to get me to sign up for a pest control contract. Supposedly a national company based in Utah but I had never heard of it. Kept name dropping my neighbors like he was working at their homes. After telling him to fuck off and that my husband will be home soon (I don’t have a husband kek) he left. Contacted my neighbors and none of them worked with the guy but were given the same spiel. Something about it didn’t sit right with me so I googled it later and learned about this whole Summer Sales industry.

It’s like a MLM targeted at men mainly, preying on college students whose only experience is their Mormon Missionary work, so they’re use to getting doors slammed in their face. Usually it’s contract based stuff like pest control, solar, home security, etc. They up charge a lot for their services which at best are mediocre and at worst nonexistent. Canceling the contract penalizes you hundreds of dollars. I’m not sure if this is standard but this guy only targeted my neighbors that were obviously elderly, had kids toys in the yard, or who didn’t seem to obviously have a man at home. I never heard of this before now and figured I would share the info for anyone else who may encounter this, this article goes into more detail

Mormons love their MLMs. They like to talk a a lot about hard work in the church but when it comes down to it it's because the culture values ways to get rich as quickly as possible, they're sharks about it.
Garage sales, haggling on Craigslist/Facebook, they rarely tip ever, (or they do a "tithe" tip of 10%) and of course the "be your own boss" MLMs. Utah also has some pretty relaxed business laws so a lot of MLMs are based out of here, and a lot of Mormons don't trust the government or conventional business tactics and are always looking for shortcuts.
There's also the pressure to use emotional attachment techniques to appeal to "family life", like "You'll make so much money that you can quit your day job and spend more time with your kids."

It's especially retarded, because laws like the Washington one are pretty common. Priests are already mandated reporters in several other U.S. states. It's literally just Trump signalling that he's pro-pedo.

Not to sperg, but Mormonism could simply change in other regions to drop restrictions that the locals don't like.

You saw this with Christianity where the earliest Christians were Jewish comverts who avoided pork, performed circumcision, etc. When pagans converted to Christianity later on there was a controversy over whether they would have to start following the Jewish law too. It was alien to the pagans and they didn't really see the point. Eventually it was decided that only Jewish converts should carry on following Jewish rules and the rest of the converts could keep eating pork.

This is just one example, there are loads of things like this in the first few centuries of Christianity. Mormonism is only a couple centuries old so perhaps Mormonism has big changes to come too.

fellow burger nonniez how do you get used to driving for long trips? my commute for my summer job is 1hr, I've been doing it for like three weeks but I always feel like shit in the last stretch. But if I were to ever travel to some other states I'd undoubtedly have to drive for a few hours

Grew up mormon in Utah, and no, it's specifically drinks that are hot like >>2629274 said. Coffee and tea. If they wanted to add energy drinks into the rule then they would, because in the 2000s they added a rule that any more piercings besides 1 on the lobe on each ear are against the rules. I knew a lot of mormons that still drank coffee before work though, and a lot who had more than 1 piercing. They always seemed like rules that everyone collectively thinks are stupid kek. On that point though, I think the mormons in Utah are a lot more lax about the rules than mormons in other states. Growing up, when meeting other mormons from different states, they were weird kek like extremely super strict wacky, which I know sounds crazy because mormons are already considered weird. So if a mormon thinks another mormon is weird, it's gotta be even worse kekkk.

I would assume that is just a coping strategy they repeat to themselves because they don't want to divorce, because there isn't anything specifically teaching about that (at least that I know of, I stopped going to church when I was 16). This is anecdotal obviously, but any mormons I knew divorced if there was any cheating. I wouldn't say that cheating is any more common with mormons than non-mormons either.

Like some people have been groomed, assaulted, stalked, murdered etc. by these men? Being a contrarian edgelord in the opposite direction by pretending these people are fine and normal and just memeing isn't helpful or smart.
