There isn't currently a thread for minor notices and changes to the site. For full transparency this will be a thread to inform you all of any updates or changes that aren't necessarily worthy of an big announcement.

I have been ambiguous about my gender up until now, but to prevent confusion, I'd just like to inform everyone that I'm male. (Every other staff member is female.)

I prefer to preserve my anonymity as much as possible, but it feels wrong when someone assumes I'm female and to not deny it, so I think it is best to let everyone know.

It's been a very long time since the community has gotten together to discuss the site and changes. I think it's about time to fix that so I've scheduled a townhall as seen on the announcements.The townhall chat is scheduled for Monday, February 4th, at 9 AM JST via cytube (a link will be posted).

I don't plan on rescheduling the projected date because it's futile to try to meet everyone's preferred time frame. Anyone that can't make it will be able to read a recap in this thread.
Please use this thread to bring up points of discussion you would like to bring up at the townhall.

- we found a new admin based on the applications that were sent in. She has been a lolcow user from the start and we are confident that she'll be a great leader. She'll start sometime during January.

- the new admin will use the applications to pick her own mod team. Whether or not current mods stay will be up to her.

- once the new admin is officially owner of the board, she will move to a new server provider which should offer better performance and fewer concerns about takedowns.

- we have chipped in together to upgrade the current server for the remainder of time before the switch so that lolcow can run smoothly until the new admin takes over.


Sorry for the wait and all the open questions. I'm just posting to share an announcement, the rest will be worked on once the admin is with us.

There have been a couple of changes over the past few months and we believe there is always room for improvement. We've taken the time to apply a few changes to the current rules. Global rules apply to all boards and now specific rules will only apply to /pt/ and /snow/ respectively. The rules page will be better formatted soon, in the meantime read the rules when you have the chance. Here are some of the major changes.

Global Rules:
•derailing on any board is a bannable offense
For example, taking bait from robots on /ot/ or derailing Onision threads by nitpicking Lainey's ring for days
•Using lolcow for attention or profit is a global offense
For some reason some people seem to think advertising doesn't fall under this. To that person, stop advertising your loli discord server.
•Abusing the reporting system can now warrant a ban
This isn't that much of a problem but do take the time to read through this.

Rules for /pt/ and /snow/:
•mini-modding is now an official ban offense
•The definiton of cow-tipping has been expanded (the most important change)
Do not alert a subject to their thread or take any other action to lead them to lolcow.farm (cowtipping).
∙Do not contact a subject's family/ friends/ etc.
∙Do not use lolcow.farm to crusade against a cow (not your personal army).
∙Do not organize raids on twitter, twitch or other social media.
∙Do not brag about or announce having personal contact or interactions with a cow unless you're also delivering newly obtained or confirmed information.
•Rule 8 " The use of sage in /snow/ does not permit a violation of the rules stated above."
For example, saging does not give you an excuse to blogpost.

In other news, we have stumbled upon a Patreon with various entertaining perks. This Patreon does not under any circumstances whatsoever in any way, shape or form help us cover the fees of running lolcow, as such a thing would be frivolous and quite frankly tasteless. We would never support the notion of crowd-funding the new, more expensive server we moved to.
