>>434330>Does The Boys have homoerotic tension? Just tension, but not homoerotic imo. Just about whether or not Homelander is going to snap due to his very fragile ego and constant need for approval. On top of it he basically has a mommy complex, so for the most part there's always a motherly figure holding his leash. Another reason it doesn't feel homoerotic to me is because their rivalries often revolve around women - like a superhero killing/raping someone's girlfriend/wife for example - rather than between the characters themselves.
And any 'actual' gay stuff is always small gags, played for laughs or meant to be gross and shocking, not things appealing to fujos at all. Like an ant-man parody being gay and going up his bf's butt, but losing control inside and killing him by growing up, like people joked should happen with Thanos in the marvel movies.
And it's always ugly randos, never the big name actors. In the comics, Homelander (who's just a sociopath) tricks Soldier Boy (played by Jensen Ackles in the show) into having sex with him every year by saying it's "an entrance test" to see if he can join the big superhero team. But the show's Soldier Boy has nothing to do with that, and is a completely new character (who is openly homophobic instead). Also, I'm not saying you should read the comics at all, much less for that scene - absolutely not worth it.
>Please tell it isn't way too cruel for cruelty sake?It definitely is. Less so than the comics, which are extremely edgy, but it's still a show about gore and shock value. The adaptation changes a lot and tries to show some of the more '
problematic' aspects like rape in a more serious light and make it more realistic and less over the top. Not that I think it's well done, just presented in a more politically correct manner, while also still trying to appease every demographic by also having 'dumb corporate feminist scene' #492 and whatnot.
They also removed the alien who's into getting gangbanged by trannies and has his image ruined because of it.If you really happen to like one of the actors and are fine with scenes of people exploding into bits, I'd say it's maybe worth to binge it as a yume, not as a fujo.

I want to ask the fujos here who use they/them pronouns or know people who do: why do you do/they it, do you know? My intention isn’t to make fun of you, but honestly, I think using them is retarded and embarrassing.
I have a close fujo friend who uses they/them pronouns. One day, she gained some popularity for her fujo art. The reason she decided to go with they/them was because she was threatened with doxxing and other nasty things for being a "straight woman fetishizing homos". She's a hikkineet and very depressed, so her art is her only source of income, and she felt like she had no choice.
Now, she also pretends to be nonbinary and makes furry art. The harassment stopped once she went they/them and nonbinary whatever. She connected with other fujos who do the same—either to fit in because they are lonely and friendless irl or for similar reasons to hers, popular fujo bloggers, artists etc.
She’s never asked me to use they/them in private but has told me to do so in public spaces to protect both of us. It’s honestly so messed up. She seems even more depressed than before.
Reminds me of kids, trying to fit in high-school.(bait)

BL and otome are targeted towards women. The few media we have.
Not all otome players are yumes, but some are, so some otome games might be yume friendly, but most aren't.
Joseimuke genre, tries to attract both fujos and otome fans, yumes too. Ex. Enstars, touken ranbu
Yumes can self insert to bl mcs too, or play eroge if MC is hot. Some are retarded and schizophrenic, hating fujos with passion or others liking him, or heroine having too much personality of her own/not an empty shell, making it difficult to self insert.

>>434906>some otome games might be yume friendly, but most aren'tGenuine question, how can that be the case for otome games? Are there any that don't appeal to yumes whatsoever?
Like, I can see an Otome anime or novel having too little control by the audience to steer yumes away, but not games. And from what I remember, a yume girl can "dream" her female character by either directly self-inserting, or by making the female character an OC by making her malleable to the yume's decisions while the yume "watches" from the sidelines. How would otome games not encompass that, especially in the latter case? You get to pick your name, or have a specific route you can choose, or explore certain areas by controlling player movement, how could that not be something yumes would like?
No. 434918
>>434913>Are there any that don't appeal to yumes whatsoever?NTA, but I think there are definitely some that are less friendly to yumes (I wouldn't say 'most' like that anon, though). For example, I have seen some people in otome game communities bemoan when a protagonist has too much going on because it makes her difficult to project onto (as in, excessive backstory, too defined of a personality, etc). This isn't always the case, but a sentiment I've seen is that a lot of people who play these games don't self-insert at all, and for those people, they prefer a protagonist who is her own character. People who do self-insert tend to prefer it when details about the protagonist are left ambiguous. Additionally, I think having a voice-acted protagonist takes some people out of it. Although it's rare, there are also a few games that do not give you the option to name the protagonist, or only allow you to give her an alias whereas she has a real name, which the boys will say in voice-acting. I think it's probably better to look at otome games on a scale of how 'yume' they are, rather than declaring them to be one way or another. I also think it depends on what kind of yume the player is, because for some, that level of detachment from the protagonist would really hinder her enjoyment, whereas others may be okay with it.
>making the female character an OC by making her malleable to the yume's decisions while the yume "watches" from the sidelinesWhile this is true, the decisions you make in VNs are not that extensive. Plus, not all VNs have choices, and sometimes, those choices are just "hang out with XYZ Boy," which isn't very immersive, I'd imagine. Like with most VNs, there's a 'right' and 'wrong' answer to many VN choices. I feel like this argument could be applied to some BL VNs just as easily as otome games, and those are usually not yume-friendly. I'm not a yume, so I may be completely off-base, but I see what that anon was trying to say. I'd be curious as to what VNs she would personally name as 'yume unfriendly,' though.

>>434918I do agree with you that it's probably best to view such games on a spectrum. Like any genre, its input and effectiveness is subjective, especially when it blurs the line. I think we both disagree with the other anon that said "most" otome games aren't for yumes, as she seems to be a bit restrictive on what's considered yume or not. BL games I understand, because pulling charectistics from the opposite sex for the MC while making it believable is difficult to follow through. But Otome? Not so much. But, I have to see what's her definition on what is and isn't yume.
Anyhow, I feel that the extreme bemoaning is coming from a specific subset of yumes, a significant chunk, but still not part of the all-encompassing yume fandom. I think the constant need to have as blank of a slate as possible is difficult to pull off in any established media. The story will still need to evolve and would require some automatic progress whether the yume wants to or not. And this will result in the female protagonist having at least some dimension before being put into the story. The only way to not have that in a game is to play a sandbox game.
No. 434982
>>434927>>434918NTA, but a lot of modern otome games have protagonists with their own personality and backstory. It has attracted an audience that can't even imagine why anyone would want a protagonist with a less strong or defined identity or why we want to self-insert, or ridicule us for it. You can even see it in the otome thread sometimes. These people treat otome games the same way they treat romance manga and the same way you treat yaoi games, and they're often encouraged to do so by the games themselves.
>>434913>You get to pick your name, or have a specific route you can choose, or explore certain areas by controlling player movement, how could that not be something yumes would like?Ocarina of Time lets you do all this and most people self-insert to a small degree (as it's necessary in a video game) while still seeing Link as his own person. Being a yume is imagining that instead of "Link" it's either literally you or your OC, which not many people do in Zelda. Many otome games have poor self-insertion features, such as picking your name, but the protagonist has a face, a set personality that affects the range of choice we are given (especially in a VN where choices are much more limited than in a game like Zelda or even simulation games), a whole backstory, etc.
Any otome game where the protagonist is distinct enough to get her own fans could be considered "not yume friendly". Third-person POV, seeing the protag's face all the time, being constantly told what the protagonist is feeling also affect our immersion. But yume-friendly games, sadly, often have shitty protagonists because it's the same shit but now she has a generic design with no face and all the options we're given are boring doormat shit as she's abused by the love interests and we're helpless to stop it. I feel Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side is one of the better examples of a yume-friendly game. You never see MC's face or body aside from her SD version and her hands in some CGs, there is no narration telling you what you look like or what you're feeling, the MC mostly just describes what's happening around her in an objective manner, the MC's dialogue options are varied and fun/funny, you can choose whether to do or not to do a lot of things and it has an actual impact on your playthrough, most of the CGs are first-person, the boys can actually pronounce your chosen name, you can choose how to dress, you can choose to do everything to make the boys like you or annoy them to see how they'll react, your birthday is also customizable and the boys give you a special birthday greeting when you start the game on your real-life birthday, you can molest them, most things happen only if you make them happen, I could go on and on.

>>435145>An otome game where there's more tension and passion between the male characters than with the female protagonist is doing a shit job.NTA but a lot of otome games where the protagonist has a very lackluster personality do end up having some unintentional chemistry between the boys. Most obvious examples I can think of off the top of my head are Charade Maniacs and Amnesia. I don't think this will constitute shipping bait necessarily, but the games do make jokes about how the characters come across as gay, which kind of muddies the waters. There's also the occasional otome where one of the main or side characters ends up being attracted to guys, like
Hatoful Boyfriend, where one of the LIs is gay and was in love with another LI's dead dad, or the thing with Hugo from Virche.>>435078>Is it easy to get into otome as a fujoYes and no. I read otome on occasion, but it's because I'm just a VN person in general and don't discriminate by genre. If the story's interesting, I'll read it, even if I don't get much out of the romance. There are some games, like I mentioned above, that might have fujo-ish elements, but it's never going to be the central focus. I have had trouble with the genre as a whole because the protagonists are often kind of flat to make self-inserting easier, which makes me not enjoy the VN as much as a BL game, where the protagonists are their own characters. I'm not complaining, as I'm aware I'm not the target audience, but it's something to keep in mind. I don't think it's a great idea to get into otome as a fujo unless you just really like VNs in the first place, and even then, your options for something you'd actually enjoy are pretty sparse. If I were you, I'd ask your sister which of her games have a protagonist with an established character and a focus on plot, personally.

, cutting a finger should have been the minimum especially because they were very brave in the sexual degeneracy aspect with things like forced facefucking, choking, cock torture and SCAT but oh well.

Went into Barnes & Noble for Black Friday bonus reward points, and I saw that they started stocking the greatest manga ever! I didn't know SuBLime started licensing it, so it was a nice surprise!! Even though I've already read it and have Japanese copies, it's always nice to have more copies of my fave!!!
And then at checkout, the cashier said "this one is so good" and I, without hesitation, went "I know right!?" so once I got to my car I reeled in embarrassment that the B&N cashier knows I was buying gay pr0n for myself
But she was the one who brought up that it was so good, so I know she wasn't judging me or anything like that, still funny though
Anyways, I recommend buying BL in person, I always get the nicest fujo cashiers even though they have every right to judge me lol

Seems like everyone is trying to get on the BL cashgrab and create some BL, the semes face also looks exactly like that female lead in the straight version of sadistic beauty.
Would have preferred this if it was femdom instead since i can't stand these pseudo-female looking semes which are clearly intended to be femdom before the author chickened out and made it BL

Would cost her less to sue tbh. I don't get the doxxing too. Doxxing angers them more kek.

>>437000That's actually sad because jujucat has cancer atm.
About the author, I didn't know it was her and wanted to rant here about some series that I rage dropped, because it was super gross, the bad kind of gross. And to find out that's it's author, lol.
And I say that as someone who reads freaky stuff in general.
Mafia setting, the mc is a blond dude that gets brutally raped by his boss who's in his 60s and has beads in his dick. He also stabs and slashes him with a knife everytime he rapes him. He also pimps his other fucktoy to other ugly bastards that do freaky shit to him. The seme gets NTR'ed by the boss, watching the boss rape blondie, who is his childhood crush btw and gets off that.
It's done horribly and the pacing is bad. It really makes no sense the story too. The characters don't have personalities too, like, they don't react to it at all, no monologues, no angry reactions. Just blondie being a punch bag taking all humiliation and ugly bastards and his crush just watching doing absolutely nothing. They show no emotion, no personality, so you can't feel sad about them, because they're blank slates. The rape was so out of nowhere too, it's like the author went out of nowhere, you know what im going to insert my fetish in just because, midway the plot.
It's like she's trying to write something but she obviously can't, and just wants to put her fetishes in. Makes sense why she did that in the end. Not going to miss something from her works overall.

Still has some mature themes)>The Beast Must Die (Moritat's author, guy with psychopath story, starts off great imo but then kind of becomes reduntant, still good though)>Dear Door (fantasy shit with demons and angels, wacky ass anatomy but VERY sexual scenes, fun if you can ignore the anatomy and k-drama tier story)>Blood Bank (vampire story, pretty cool characters and nice art)>Black Mirror (cool horror, not too good but also not bad)>King's Maker (great first season, goes to shit later, epic story with kings and shit)>ENNEAD (egyptian gods fuck, pretty and consistent art but very intricate plot, pacing issues)These are the ones I would say are my favourites, I've read a lot more than those but looking back so many of them are full of trashy tropes and just… bad ideas. Naruto and Sasuke had the most fleshed out love story in Naruto. I genuinely barely care about them being with Hinata and Sakura, despite liking them as individual characters.
The story building was done absolutely beautifully , there was a lot of build up, angst , symbolism, yearning , understanding and mutual care. I can’t blame fujos for making them the gaycouple n1 because it’s my favorite BL too kek.
Sure they might just be platonic but you can’t lie and say that their story wasn’t far more interesting than the ones with their perspective love interests.
